5 I have never figured out how the courts could rule the way they have on the civil forfeiture rackets. By their 'ruling" the "object" in question has committed a crime which allows the State to take it.

It is plainly unconstitutional unless it is figured in as part of a fine. But taking a $20K car in the case of a crime that has a $200 fine seem to defy that logic.

8 Morning! There was shooting this weekend at the Raleigh gun show. Did you hear about this? Some dumbass brought a shotgun to the show to sell and forgot to clear the weapon before bringing it. He handed it over to the sheriff's deputy to be inspected and it went off, hitting three people with a birdshot round.

Interesting to see that Colt has a custom shop just like Fender.

I'd like to have a Jazz Bass with that color combo. The pickguard could be the same pattern as the grips.

Yeah, I heard there were at least 2 other "accidental discharges" at other shows this past weekend. Who loads a gun walking back to the car?

27 There were indeed multiple accidental discharges at several gun shows this weekend, and I do mean firearms. At the Raleigh show it was a private seller. They closed the show for the second half of the day, and forbid private sales on Sunday, although they still had an enormous turnout.

Removal of the PAO coolant and fueldraulic protective systems in an attempt to save weight on the F-35 has increased by 25% aircraft vulnerability. Lovely.

There was one here in Jacksonville this weekend. Insanity. Saturday was ridiculous from what I've heard. 1 1/2 wait to get in, turning people away because over capacity. I went Sunday afternoon and met up with JohnE. It was still crazy. A couple of the vendors told me that some people didn't come back on Sunday because they sold all their inventory on Sat. Talked to an inactive Marine (70+ years old and PISSED about the current state of affairs) who bought a box of ammo for $10 on Sat and the same vendor was selling the same box for $15 on Sun. The ARs were laughable. The prices they wanted were just astronomical.

People like that remind me of a documentary I saw about aircraft carriers. They were following some of the new guys around. One was saying how mad he was at the Navy because after a few months at sea, he was still latrine orderly. 49 Day 1 of 1460. Could there be anything more depressing? After 3000+ days of TFG ruining this country...by the time we reach 2016, America will surely be a spectacle, a horror, a shadow of its former self, a pitiful excuse for being that beacon of light in the world. We'll just be another socialist cesspool on the way to total and final ruination. And the MFM will still be slobbering and telling us how a piece of sh** tastes like champagne.

62 BCochran, the F-35 has a weight problem worse than Moochelle at an all you can eat. So the engineers have removed systems they originally knew the plane needed in an attempt to get the weight down.

There is supposed to be a cut-off valve for the PAO in case of damage but to save weight it was removed in 2008. Along with removal of the dry bay fire suppression system. This now means the F-35 does not meet the survivability criteria for what DOTE calls legacy aircraft [F-15/F-16/A-10].

SWIP stood for Super Weight Improvement Program. It had followed the WIP. All in an attempt to get the weight of the TFX F-111 program under control.

69 Sven we are running into ESD susceptibility issues it looks like. The faster and lower the voltage the ICs are supposed to run at, the thinner the non-conductive material gets and easier to get sparks to jump between discreet circuits. 80 Most of the weapons used by al Qaeda-linked militants to storm a gas facility in southeastern Algeria came from Libya, the Daily Telegraph has learned.

Many of the Islamist terrorists shot their way into the In Amenas compound on Thursday using the AK104 model of Kalashnikov, which was typically used by Libyan rebels in the war against Muammar Gaddafi.

They brought F5 rockets that also surfaced in the Libyan war, said the security source.

The Islamists wore the same type of outfits that Qatar provided to Libyan National Transitional Council rebels by Qatar – yellow flak jackets with brown patches, known as “chocolate chip” camouflage. The garments are copies of ones worn by Americans in the Gulf war.

The terrorists also employed 60mm gun-mortars used by France and Libyan rebels.

Yup Yup getting rid of Gaddafi was a great idea?

all that stuff down here to FL. I could have a place to put it inside of

83 I've seen two commanders relieved during my career in the Air Force for blindingly stupid misuse of genitalia.

And I don't think the term "fired" should ever be used in these situations. Being fired means losing your job, pay, and benefits....these guys still get paid and usually get to hang on until retirement with no real responsibilities. If they were really "fired," you'd see a lot less of this behavior.

And have you watched Al Jazeera? Close your eyes and you'd swear you're listening to MSNBC or even CNN International or BBC.

True 'dat! From what I've read, Pravda and TASS mean "truth" and "news" hence the old saying. But these days. PRAVDA is better than anything our State-Run Media can come up with.

more threatening citizens with loss of what we used to consider unalienable rights.

instead of handing your kids a country you told them, work hard, be a good citizens, stay in school, we will tell them , where the welfare office is , and how to stand in line for housing for hours without freezing to death, and how to circumvent ideas on how to find a job, and ask them if they really want children?

92 EC- I got my range card expressly because I've got a scope I need to get zeroed and they've got nine 100 meter bays. I bore-sighted it in the basement at 25 yards (yea, wide house) but I need the large bays. Not planning for the long shots...yet. You have to take the 2 hour orientation class to get a range card. What is really needed more than lowers and kits are brass manufacturing, primer makers, and gunpowder production.

108 Unless there has been a radical departure from aircraft norms with regard to fuel systems, there is no "oxygen" being put into fuel tanks. Fuel tanks are pressurized with engine bleedair so they will feed throughout the flight envelope. Oxygen and air are not the same thing although air contains some oxygen. When they fly intoa known danger area the pilot activates the fuel inerting system which (on the F-16) shoots Halon1211 into the fuel system so a hit from a bullet or other missle will not cause a catastophic explosion. It has never been safe for an aircraft to fly into an electrical storm, although it happens and lightining strikes are serious business.

113 With regard to officers being busted for sexual improprieties, I say good. For all my career I saw enlisted men get hammered for it and officers got to walk. There was an incredible double standard. I can remember talking with others about how we had to live up to a higher standard than President Clinton. If you're gonna enforce a rule, make sure it is enforced uniformly or not at all.

I also once worked at a place that made laser etching machines. Any digitized image can be etched. We made machines for all kinds of businesses from bearing makers to kitchen sinks.

The actuators that control the laser's path are called galvanometers. They'd move so quickly, you could barely see it.

120 Regarding adjunct faculty:

I am an adjunct faculty who was perfectly content with my compensation without health insurance provided. Now the government has mandated that my perfectly satisfactory arrangement is not satisfactory, apparently because I was not being sufficiently screwed.

121 I wish people would stop talking about the "unintended" consequences of Obamacare -- especially businesses cutting back hours to avoid mandated coverage.
