AFC Championship Game UPDATED

Ravens and Patriots.

Atlanta and SF didn't disappoint much. 49ers advance. And shoulda bet the over, 52.

Over/under in the AFC game lessee, 51 points with a nine point spread.

Not joining in the Ray Lewis lovefest.

3 The spread has moved toward the Ravens all week, so it will probably be closer than nine.

Remember last year the Ravens barely outplayed the Patriots but hey dropped a TD and missed a FG in the last couple of minutes to blow it.

I still like the Pats but not to cover.

71 Following are excerpts from an interview with Egyptian cleric Rasmi ‘Ajlan, which aired on Al-Omma TV on January 8, 2013:

Rasmi ‘Ajlan: The Prophet Muhammad said: “Do not copulate with a slavegirl before she menstruates again.”

Interviewer: Allah Akbar! Allah! Allah!

Rasmi ‘Ajlan: And also: “Do not irrigate the seed of another man with your own water.”

Interviewer: With your permission, Sheik Rasmi, I’d like to point out to the viewers the beautiful, civilized, and sublime prophetic language. “Irrigating the seed” means copulating with a woman. This is a sublime prophetic phrasing, which means that a man should not copulate with a slavegirl before she menstruates again.

Go ahead, Sheik Rasmi. By Allah, this is beautiful.

Rasmi ‘Ajlan: If a man is married and his wife is pregnant with his child – the more he copulates with her, the more his semen enhances the future child’s intelligence.

Interviewer: You must repeat this. This is very new to me.

Rasmi ‘Ajlan: If Allah blesses a man with a pregnant wife…

Interviewer: The wife is pregnant. Got it.

Rasmi ‘Ajlan: If he copulates with her after the 40 days during which the fetus is created…

Interviewer: You mean, when she is pregnant?

Rasmi ‘Ajlan: Yes. He irrigates his own fetus with his own semen.

Interviewer: Allah Akbar.

Rasmi ‘Ajlan: According to medical science, this increases the child’s intelligence.

Interviewer: Allah Akbar! Allah Akbar! This is the wondrous scientific nature of Islam.

A Virginia lawmaker who drew gasps from his colleagues when he
brandished a borrowed AK-47 during an anti-gun speech Thursday was
found guilty in 2002 of committing a vicious 1999 assault, was
sanctioned for legal misconduct while prosecuting a rape case, spent
six months in jail for contempt of a federal court, and saw his law
license revoked in 2003.

Democratic Delegate Joseph Morrissey brought the rifle to the floor
of the House of Delegates to demonstrate how easy it is to carry
firearms in Virginia. Republican Delegate Todd Gilbert interrupted
Morrissey’s speech to ask him to remove his finger from inside the
gun’s trigger-guard — a basic gun-safety practice.

Nope, just saying it must be nice to get saved from the refs on a 3rd down because the QB gets brushed by a lineman's fingertips. Take off your homer glasses for a moment and you might understand what a dumb call that was.

I think this is going to be a tough game for both teams. the Pats always have a tough time against the Ravens, and the Ravens always manage to get JUST enough offense to make it heartbreaking when they lose. Well, heartbreaking if you like them. The Ravens are one of five or six teams in the league on my "Utterly Despise" list. If they win this game, their players will be absolutely insufferable from now until the Super Bowl. I really don't want to listen to that. At least the Pats players keep their mouths shut lest Belichick beat them senseless with a truncheon.

387 Good Lord.

Tom Foreman, a CNN anchor and reporter, revealed that he has written a letter to President Obama every day of his first term.

That’s Every. Single. Day.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1347323895031-4'); });

Some may find that bizarre, obsessive, even unnatural. Others may
question the journalistic ethics of personally communicating with the
president of the United States in such a regular and friendly fashion.

Evidently, Foreman’s employers at CNN don’t think either of those
things and actually gave him space on their website to publish an
article explaining himself:

I wrote about things that were important, like
unemployment, Afghanistan and women’s rights. I also wrote about things
that were trivial, like sports, favorite foods and my yearly battle
with Christmas lights.

The tally: 1,460 letters, well over a half-million words, or enough
to fill about seven novels. Laid out as one line of text, these letters
would stretch almost 3˝ miles or considerably longer than the inaugural
parade route.

Mannings interceptions were big. The Strong Safety allowing the WR get behind his to catch the game tying TD with 34 seconds left was HUGE. Denver NOT running a play when they had 31 seconds left in the game was a MONUMENTAL fuck up. Denver gave that game to Baltimore.

There's a psychology involved I suspect. They're human so they make calls based on what they do and don't see based on expected performance. Rice trapped a lot of balls for catches over the years and why?

He's Jerry goddamned Rice and he did have awesome finger strength.

The fact that Darth Raider will kill you probably impacts their calls too.

I am sure you'll regale all of us now with the"If you don't win it all it don't matter" stuff...NFL is designed for parity...to be in as many super bowls and division championships in this era is pretty darn good. Just like Baltimore's run has been pretty good recently...just because this is first time they've gotten over the hump doesn't diminish their past five years. Buffalo Bills run of four straight super bowl appearances is pretty dam sporty too. Pity you can't seem to acknowledge these.

I think that all four teams in the Conference Championships were pretty good, and they beat some decent teams last weekend.

Belicheck's press conference on ESPN. Low and slow.

If you are a NE fan, this loss is unforgivable. If you are a Niners fan, you barely dodged one by playing a team more inept than yours. How do you justify NOT letting Kaepernick run with the ball???

Posted by: sven10077 at January 20, 2013 09:54 PM (LRFds)

I never can quite parse what you're saying, but I never said that Ray wasn't involved in a bad situation in Atlanta, nor do I deny that he did the wrong thong and lied to the cops. But that's a far cry from being a murderer, which he is not, and nobody every thought HE was. Bill Clinton got a blow job, but the reason he was impeached was perjury. Same thing here. Members of Ray's group (likely, they were acquitted) killed a man. Ray had the bad judgement to be with them, fled the scene and lied to the cops. But he didn't kill anyone, and not even Atlanta PD thinks he did. So all of the fools who mindlessly repeat variations on "Ray Lewis is a murderer" week after week in the football threads are just as accurate as the lib drones who claim Clinton was impeached over a blow job, and have just as much credibility.

819 815 Lou's a girl,

The main point of the NYT piece and their trying to "Reagan" him is that they sincerely feel the opinion of the people is unworthy and they should manage the world.

It is dangerous, the world WILL get pissed off we *may* pay a price and we deserve it.

You cannot have our power level and engage in raw hubris while also not being seen as ruthless.

825 The patriot cheerleaders have better uniforms, more sparkle and look more militaristic.

The ravens cheerleaders look like they rolled out of bed, put their boyfriend's t-shirts on, are more racially diverse and more lacking in precision.

Based purely on the way things are going - The ravens should've won and they did.

The only one I'm glad for is Ray Lewis.

830 To everyone bitching about Ray Lewis... you know what happened to the two guys he was with at the nightclub (not the two dead ones, the two also charged for the murders) that went to trial? They were acquitted on grounds of self defense. So, while prosecution-hungry DA couldn't get anything on Lewis, the murders did stick on those no-name guys, but even they were declared innocent after a trial. Do some research.
