Lance Armstrong's Lies Excorciated by Media That Still Maintains Dan Rather Maybe Told the Truth and Bill Clinton Didn't Do Anything So Bad

There's no doubt that Lance Armstrong lied a bit. But, as a thousand liberals told me in 1998, once you've committed to cheating you've also committed to lying about it, so what's the big deal?

And, come to think of it, what do we say of a media that lies every single day in refusing to admit it's biased and strives for "down the middle" coverage?

But the media is in posturing mode. As usual.

The hyperventilating is especially egregious coming from Glenn Kessler and the Washington Post's wildly-misnamed FactCheck -- they lied more than Armstrong, and for far greater consequence, all throughout 2012.

RE: Manti Te'o. My question is, who cares? If he was catfished then he was the victim of a huge hoax. If he was at any point part of the hoax, then he was an idiot. But so what? It didn't affect his Notre Dame scholarship. It didn't get him time on the field he wouldn't otherwise have had. All it did was give him a bigger spotlight, which he would have gotten anyway because he's extremely talented. So who cares? Guys get into the NFL with much bigger blots on their personal credibility and go on to long careers, during which a number of them grow up and recognize the error of their younger ways. A bunch of them stay stupid, but I don't think Te'o is going to be one of those. So listening to all these sports reporters hyperventilating over the story is absolutely ridiculous.

The other one is if he really was the victim of a scam, which I'm starting to find it hard to believe simply b/c of the length of time that it went on (and the embellishments that he and his circle added onto it), then was his performance in the BCS compromised b/c of that. Sorry, not buying it.
And that's not what that article implies anyway.

All the article explicitly states is that they subpoenaed some documents, which he resisted supplying. It also says they subpoenaed them in 2011, well after they stopped sponsoring the whole team in 2004.

So the available options are
I- They didn't figure it out until 2011 (sorry, not buying it)
2- They figured it out in 2004, but didn't say anything (possible, but makes them complicit anyway)
C- They knew before 2004, and only sued him in 2011 because they saw the whole thing unraveling. (The option I believe).

Don't get me wrong. There is no defense of Lance Armstrong in any of this. As someone who supported him when the allegations first came out, and again, and again, and... I'm horrified, embarrassed, and enraged to find out I was wrong and that he's a cock-sucking cheater.

Virginia Lawmakers AK-47 Sparks Gun Debate on House Floor
Link to Washington Examiner: http://tiny.cc/e3b4qw

A Richmond-area lawmaker brandished an AK-47 on the floor of the Virginia House of Delegates on Thursday in a wild stunt aimed at rallying support for tougher gun laws.

Del. Joe Morrissey, D-Highland Springs, pulled the weapon out shortly after the day's session got underway, a time when legislators typically welcome school groups and other visitors in the chamber's gallery.

Morrissey assured his colleagues the gun was not loaded and pointed it toward the ceiling as he pleaded for Republican House Speaker Bill Howell to help push through a subcommittee the assault weapons ban that Morrissey is proposing...

My favorite moment in the article:

Del. Todd Gilbert, R-Woodstock, interrupted Morrissey's speech to ask him to take his finger off the trigger lock and later said that taking guns from citizens is what led to the Holocaust and mass killings under the Soviet Gulag....

So the idiot was perfectly happy to brandish his gun like a lunatic, but wasn't smart enough to practice the most basic aspects of gun safety; namely, keeping your finger the hell away from the trigger, even if you're sure the gun's not loaded.

150 PEDs and bicycling is the same as PEDs and baseball: the sport, the fans and the media knew it was going on and said nothing. Then, when it was Time for Umbrage, we all took some.

The upside to cheating in both sports was so, so much greater than the downside that it's just not rational to expect the athletes not to do it. 1. You couldn't compete without it and 2. it could mean the difference of millions of dollars.

I guess the equation has changed with better testing.

Not by Ace's doing, but by theirs. It is absurd that the media is outraged because they were lied to, about stories that are not that important to begin with. Its outrageous they get away with it. I assumed this was a safe place to express that. Saying these stories are so much manure does not critisize Ace. He isn't promoting them. He is talking about the press's reaction to them. So am I.

168 Speaking of media inaccuracy, I just had something interesting. I tried and lost step-dad/step-daughter attempted sex assault case earlier this week. The defendant has another trial coming up next week involving the same sixteen year old victim. In our pretrial conference yesterday I informed court and counsel that I was dismissing one of the four counts in this second case. This morning there is a story in the local paper that, while wrong, is not as wrong as the headline that indicates that I dismissed the entire case. Meanwhile, my sixteen year old victim has some sort of current events class at high school in which they read the paper. So she read this article and probably thinks I betrayed her. I called her dad and he pretty much knew what was going on anyway. But I do regret that the media essentially lied to the girl like that.
