Leftwing Activist Arrested for Planning Assassination-by-Immolation of Governor Scott Walker:
Media Curiously Uninterested

Political violence is terrible and we must vigorously condemn it where ever we even suspect it; thus is the rule for all those violent-minded Tea Partiers. We must make it clear to them that political violence is unacceptable. And those who don't make that clear -- opinion leaders on the right, for example, who don't condemn the idea of political violence upon command -- are aiding and abetting the violence, encouraging it through their silence, their tacit approval.

So: What then of the Silence of the Left, and the Silence of the Media, on political violence planned by the left? By their own terms they tacitly encourage it.

A man was arrested for planning to throw Molotov cocktails at Scott Walker at a public speech.

A search of the man’s apparent Twitter account reveals deep sympathies for Palestinians, support for other liberal and far-left causes, and claims of previous felony charges. Smith has also expressed support for the newest leftist movement, which previous Occupy supporters are beginning to flock to, named "Idle No More." Less than 24 hours before being arrested, Smith stated on Facebook: "I'm in support of the Idle No More Movement."

What is "Idle No More"? Internet references so far are confined to an aboriginal peoples (that is, Indian) movement in Canada, but I'm pretty sure the US version of it means terrorism -- after all, if you are calling your previous protests a type of idleness, what would constitute no longer being idle?

Why, violent protest, of course.

I cannot repeat it strongly enough that the media, and the left, claimed the entire Tea Party and entire Republican Party was complicit in the shooting of Gabriel Giffords for not making it plain enough to a lunatic (who was not a Tea Partier, and in fact was more left-wing than anything else) that violence was unacceptable, thereby encouraging him.

Yet every time we have a left-wing terrorist in the news, the media does its level best to bury the story, and to pointedly not deliver the stemwinding condemnation of political violence they demand from their political opponents.

Again, by their own predicates, this is effectively an endorsement.

MikeyNTH quoted something in the last thread, "Fen's Law," which states that "The left believes none of the things they lecture the rest of us about."

I can only find a few references to that law on the Internet, but it seems to be deserving of greater exposure.

15 Speaking of the state-run media, I just cancelled my subscription to the Journal News. The letter is being sent to all the senior staff of the paper, and to the parent company Gannett as well.
This:
"Please cancel my subscription as of February 1, 2013.
I have been a subscriber for well over 30 years, commencing with the Herald Statesman. I am cancelling my subscription due to your foolish publication of the interactive map of pistol permit holders. If you had recognized your mistake and removed it in the face of the uproar it has caused I might have reconsidered; instead you insist that it was the right decision and you have doubled down by attempting to do the same thing to Putnam County residents. For me, it is simply the last straw.
Your hypocrisy is unbounded. You would never print such a map of felons, criminals, sex offenders, high school dropouts, or others who present a real danger to the community. When you feel the backlash of righteous indignation, your response is to hire armed security guards. What makes you, politicians, celebrities and rich people who can hire armed security better or more important than the average citizen?
For years I have tolerated your unrelenting promotion of leftist causes while you have suppressed information harmful to that agenda. You long ago gave up any semblance of journalism in favor of leftist propaganda. This ill-conceived decision on your part to “out” permit holders has crossed a line. You are now attempting to intimidate law abiding citizens who have the temerity to exercise a constitutional right that you happen to disagree with. At worst, you have made them targets for criminals; at best, you hope they are shunned by their neighbors.
In short, you are now engaged in open warfare against those who do not share your extreme politics. It is unconscionable. I hope you will understand that I do not wish to contribute financial support to an institution that is at war with me and seeks to harm people that think like me.
If this map does in fact result in crimes against the innocent citizens you have victimized, the blood is on your hands, the responsibility is all yours and I hope you get sued out of existence."

I understand that this is mostly snark, but it's dangerous even so.

This was a planned assassination against an elected official. There is no way we should be flippant about it or downplay it. Indeed, we should be doing the opposite. We should be crying out as loudly as possible, demanding people like Bill Mahr and Michael Moore and so on denounce this type of "political violence," and if the equivocate at all ("...I can understand why someone would feel this way...") refuse their words and make them say it again until they've said it "properly."

166 Cocktails For Two

"In some secluded rendezvous,
That overlooks the avenue,
With someone sharing a delightful chat,
Of this and that,
And cocktails for two.

As we enjoy a cigarette,
To some exqiuisite chansonette,
Two hands are sure to slyly meet beneath a serviette,
With cocktails for two.

My head may go reeling,
But my heart will be o-be-di-ent,
With in-tox-i-cat-ing kisses,
For the principal in-gre-di-ent,

Most any afternoon at five,
We'll be so glad we're both alive,
Then maybe fortune will complete her plan,
That all began
with cocktails for two"

What I am suggesting is that they are only successful in challenging the American right because we are behaving gentlemanly and using restraint. If the economy collapses, and things start getting ugly, I am of the opinion that the left is going to be purged en masse.

They can win elections by gaming the system, but the real power in this nation lies in the hands of mostly the people they hate. When we are no longer constrained by the need to respect the rules of our common governance, we will be unleashed and we will make them into hunted animals.
We are the strong part of the United States, and they have a very good reason for fearing us.

185 A single new source (paper, channel, etc) would be "Foxed" by the MFM on a daily basis.

I think the best two options are an aggressively honest network (not that it isn't the plan anyway) skimming away any Attkissons away from the MFM we could, or something on the order of a "broadcast newsbusters" directly targeting the mendacious MFM with specifics.

In either case, you'd still have to fight past the MFM's propaganda wall.

The ultimate trick is to get enough people aware of the shenanigans to rock the corrupt back on their heels and change both voting patterns and the lack of voting security.

Looking at the Democrat constituencies, the only hard troops they have are Union goons. The Lawyers, University Professors, the Actors , the Welfare recipients, the Comedians, the Newspaper people, the professional protestors etc. don't seem to quite balance Our Cowboys, Engineers, Roughnecks, Farmers and Ranchers, Machinists, Policemen, Firemen, Soldiers, Manufacturers and other productive members of society.

197 Has anyone reconciled Obama's EO that doctors can inquire and report

I believe the O-care language simply says that nothing in the statute can be read as requiring a doctor to inquire about guns, IIRC. It looks like it was just a sop to the blue dogs or gun lobby. And why not? It was cost free to the statists. It certainly doesn't say that some OTHER law or federal regulation (or EO?) can require a doctor to ask about weapons.

Posted by: Cicero (@cicero) at January 16, 2013 05:22 PM (QKKT0)

198 #190 Thanks, Hal.

BTW, the hunger strike mentioned there that Chief Spence has undertaken is a Cindy Sheehan hunger strike. She's grossly fat (literally) and hasn't lost any weight on the hunger strike because she's been "limiting" herself to fish soups! And that's not even including that she might literally even be cheating on that as she's been caught going to a local hotel instead of sleeping in the tepee where she's ostensibly holding her supposed hunger strike.

Posted by: andycanuck at January 16, 2013 05:23 PM (ORGYc)

209 We need to call out the Obama-regurgitation machine, er, I mean the lapdog mainstream media.

Here's an idea: Whenever they mention the Aurora, CO theater shooter's name, we remind the world that James Eagan Holmes belonged to "Occupy," a movement that is openly supported and nurtured by Barack Obama.

Example: "James Eagan Holmes, member of the Obama-backed Occupy movement and mass murderer."

More disturbing is the fact that Holmes was an "Occupy Black Bloc" member <-- they want to kill cops. But don't expect the Obama-loving media to let that truth come out.

Posted by: JoeKidd at January 18, 2013 04:04 PM (laNdG)

210 Wow. Imissed my 15 minutes of fame. A few points just to clear things up:1) Fen's Law is "The Left doesn't really believe in the things they lecture the rest of us about". But I don't claim any ownership of the statement - if you want to edit or clean it up to fit on a t-shirt, have fun. 2) I coined it while observing the Democrat response to the Clinton Impeachment. See, when I was in High School and College, we were inundated with Sexual Harassment awareness lectures 24/7. Fast-forward to Clinton sexually discriminating against, sexually harassing and sexually assaulting 3 Democrat women - Lewinksy, Jones, Wiley (Lewinksy counts as sexual discrimination when you recognize all the other women in the WH who didn't get job interviews with Revlon or the UN because they would go down on their boss). After a decade of lecturing us on sexual discrimination/harassment issues, the Left instead said "Its just about sex, MoveOn". Thats when it hit me that they don't really believe in these thing, they adopt Principles merely as a means to end, and quickly discard them when they are no longer convenient.
3) I don't beleive Glenn lifted his from me. Although, as I said earlier - wouldn't bother me a bit if he did. He can claim it as his own so long as he shouts it from the rooftops
Cheers
Fen
