Where were Bammy and his pals when the Dems and their operatives in the MFM were literally calling Sarah Palin everything from a pig to a dog, and calling her children even worse? You don't get to start spewing "ugly and repugnant" accusations about using the subject's children for a political ad if you didn't yourself step up to the plate and tell your own minions to knock it off with the hateful, demeaning, lewd and often graphic condemnatations of your opponent and your opponent's children.

So really, using children at this event today is akin to the Mongols' tactic of strapping captured children to their chests when attacking a settlement, so that anyone who resisted would have to kill their own children in order to defeat the attacker. Except instead of literally killing the children, the Preezy is implying that each one of those children WILL very likely be killed by a gun in the future if we don't all bend our knee and submit to him.

I saw a very bad wreck on the highway coming to work today. I am guessing there were fatalities. Surely something could have been done to make those cars safer, or those drivers drive slower, or something! Isn't it worth it to SAVE EVEN ONE LIFE???? Why not pass a law that says no car can go over 40 miles an hour! Think how many lives would be saved! Surely a shit-ton more than any gun laws will save.

Ha! So Obama issues an EO stating that Docs under the ACA are not "prohibited" from asking about gun ownership. So I guess conversely under the ACA docs also aren't "compelled" to ask about it either, nor are we as patients "compelled" to answer. Good God, this is so stupid - even I thought that he'd be more bold than this. I'm delighted as hell by his lack of balls, but I'm surprised nonetheless.

If I called for repugnant porn rags like Hustler Magazine to be limited to 30, or 10 or 7 or 3 pages with the goal of limiting them to ZERO pages, people who love the Constitution would rightly say we must not erode the First Amendment because we are guardians of free speech and we are obligated to pass the First on to our children undiminished.
The primary reason for the First is to protect us from government run amok. We may not have such a government now, but our we must pass these rights to our children so they are available to them in case they need them. The left can understand this, especially those on the left who remember the role of a free press in the Watergate coverup. The same must be said for the Second Amendment as well. We must pass the right to keep and bear arms on to our children undiminished so they have them in case they need to exercise them, even if we cannot now see why that might be necessary. the other half is just an innocuous waste of money.
No, it's not. Like I pointed out- if I were a gun grabbing AG, I would add to the list of people who can't get guns "Member of a Group Identified by the Secretary of Homeland Security as a potential terror threat." Then I'd grab that list that included returning veterans, religious conservatives, members of gun clubs, etc. Oh, sure, it would be shot down sooner or later, but then when I instituted "more reasonable restrictions," Ace's vaunted Overton Window has moved. Then there's the one about the CDC preventing gun violence- we already know the DSM-V is highly political. How hard would it be to start adding "owns more than X firearms" to the various "Serious Mental Illness" diagnoses? No, this is a gun-grabber's wet dream if it isn't actively opposed. Too many of these gun laws are honestly worthless for me to take any of them seriously. limiting the mag to 10 rounds only means I have to reload more often. No, this is a gun-grabber's wet dream if it isn't actively opposed.
The list of EO is mostly pointless, feel-good bullshit to create the illusion that he's Doing Something. The CDC pulled the same thing in the past, treating guns like a disease vector. The point is/was to gin up misleading statistics to bolster the case for more gun control. Some of it looks like an attempt to make more mental health records available to NICS- and realistically, that's long overdue even if an EO isn't the way to go about it. Basically he's enlisting federal agencies for anti-gun propaganda and creating a little more bureaucracy. Far from the anticipated EO banning "assault weapon" imports. The pro-gun side is winning this fight, and even TFG knows it. Posted by: Hollowpoint at January 16, 2013 12:36 PM (SY2Kh) 288

Evena little more bureaucracy is too much. Obama is evil, but smart. He knows he can do a federal ban or anything close.
Mainly he's using the bully pulpit of the White House to push Democrats further Left on the issue so they ram through more limits and more bans in states they control -- like New York. It's the clear-hold-build strategy -- except used on Americans. The idea is to grow the anti-gun forces from the major metros to the state level and, eventually, the federal level. Same way California forces fucktard eco-regulations on the rest of us. At this stage in the Left and Obama's war on America he's mainly providing cover for the Governor's to do the actual destruction. Posted by: Flatbush Joe at January 16, 2013 12:51 PM (ZPrif) 389

Been there, done that. #8 Fewer people wasting their money on Stack-On maybe, but that's it. #9 If LE isn't tracing it on their own, doesn't that mean the information they could obtain by doing so has no value to their investigation? #10 Expect report to conclude that most stolen guns wind up in the hands of criminals. #11 Try to pick one that doesn't suck for a change. #12 Training provided by who? #13 So going to try enforcing the law for a change? #14 Oh goody, more government funded anti-gun propaganda! I can't wait! #15 So the AG is going to spend a bunch of time reading sci-fi novels? I approve. #16 Accomplishment: making me lie to my doctor. #17 Might be worth doing. #18 Had to Google "school resource officers." 'Cops in schools' doesn't sound fancy enough I guess. IIRC, this was the NRA proposal that the left mocked so much. #19 Try to create models that actually improve the chances of survival for a change. #20-22 Moar gov healthcare!!!! #23 Might be worth doing, but will probably just be used to push the Progressive agenda. Executive orders, at least as I understand them, are supposed to be overview documents that are then implemented by the bureaucracy. It's not the actual EO that sets out actual regulations, it's the implementation of the EO by the agencies. So long as those agencies can draw some sort of connection between what they do and the EO, however tenuous, they are covered. I suspect that these orders will not be as innocuous as they now seem once they are implemented at the level of bureaucracy.

This individual is loathsome. The White House shared letters from young writers who seemed to agree that Obama should do what is necessary to make it harder to get guns. What hypocrisy. Who is speaking for those children who suffered and will continue to suffer under the gruesome technique of terminating life known as partial birth abortion.
The procedure is usually performed during the last trimester of gestation up to the end of the ninth month. The woman's cervix is dilated, and the abortionist grabs the baby's leg with forceps. Then he proceeds to pull the baby into the birth canal. The abortionist then delivers the baby's body, feet first, all but the baby's head. The abortionist inserts a sharp object into the back of the baby's head, removes it, and inserts a vacuum tube through which the brains are sucked out. The head of the baby collapses at this point and allows the aborted baby to be delivered lifelessly. Our president supports the practice of brains being sucked out of partially born childrens heads. ***** I bet a lot of people have one belief now, and will find themselves of another mindset when it happens. How are gun sellers to know the status of one's mental health? This is tied to the "Health Care" bill. Records are supposed to be vociferously protected. There seems to be no boundaries on what sort of mental illness is a "problem." What about someone who is medicated for simple depression. Everyone will have a government psychiatrist in the near future. This is all very, very troubling. Sorry, can't think of anything funny about it right now.

Ummm you know any reasonable (I know, it's not reasonable, but just for argument's sake) effort to confiscate weapons will require more than the limited manpower a SWAT team can provide right?
Posted by: Burn the Witch at January 16, 2013 12:59 PM (ROv35) Ummmm, you specifically referenced SWAT teams in such a context that implied that local LEOs did not have them. As you well know, that's hardly the case. Let us discuss the premise of your argument. You state that a reasonable attempt to confiscate weapons will take more than the limited manpower a SWAT team can provide. Why? Let's say said SWAT team comes for me. I am one person. I am in one place. I have x amount of ammunition and weaponry. The odds are overwhelming that the SWAT team will have more weaponry and more manpower than I have. At some point, I will die and my guns will be confiscated out of my cold dead hands. So, no, I do not accept your premise that a reasonable effort by a SWAT team to confiscate my weapons would require more resources than that SWAT team would have. Now, in the aggregate, that is true because I am confident that once my blood is shed, there will be many others who object to that in the most strenuous terms and then the SWAT team will eventually find itself on the reverse side of that equation. At some point, said SWAT team will attempt to confiscate weapons from a home where there is a group waiting for them with greater fire power. As always, I do not want any of the above to happen. No one I know wants any of that to happen. That doesn't mean that I do not believe that it will happen. Posted by: alexthechick - SMOD. Team Stompy. at January 16, 2013 01:10 PM (VtjlW) 521

Ummmm, you specifically referenced SWAT teams in such a context that implied that local LEOs did not have them. As you well know, that's hardly the case.
I don't recall implying that local LEOs didn't have them, I even later clarified that SWAT teams were insufficient in number to be able to effectively confiscate the sheer number of firearms that are out there. Local LEOs would HAVE to use more resources than the SWAT teams can provide our a confiscation would take several decades. I'm not talking about SWAT versus one gun owner. That's not even going to be a contest. Hope that clears it up. Posted by: Burn the Witch at January 16, 2013 01:18 PM (ROv35) 537

Here's one... Ask a liberal what the second amendment did that wasn't already in the congressional powers to raise an army noting that under that they could have just passed a law saying for civil defense purposes that guns wouldn't be taken.
Here's the thing... This amendment wasn't raised out of an esoteric question. Make him own that. Ask them why the people of that time wanted that amendment. Posted by: Former Mass. Resident at January 16, 2013 01:21 PM (R4WsQ) Posted by: Navin R. at January 16, 2013 01:25 PM (X/+QT) 543

Posted by: Sherry McEvil, At least the kid had injuries, which is not quite the same as being grilled for no reason. However, I would not leave my kid so he could be questioned alone under any circumstances. Seriously, you don't "have" to do anything. You remember that pediatrician who raped over a hundred kids, including babies & toddlers? They were left alone... If this turns into a race to see how many kids one side or the other can get on camera, i think more kids would want to hang out with Eddie the Eagle, shooting some Rascals and eating hotdogs, than watching BHO make a speech. I think his executive order list is smoke and mirrors. I don't think anything on that list will affect my ability to buy a gun unless he finds some way to turn the federal background check into a multi-day ordeal. I don't think it will do a significant amount to stop nuts or criminals from getting guns, either, it just looks like more pork. Despite Boehner's rather lame response, i don't expect any of this legislation to pass. Bill Clinton's assault weapon ban lapsed under slightly more liberal conditions so there's that. Be expected to be called horrible things, but we should be used to that by now. Lastly, how can somebody have a problem with kids getting killed with guns and have no complaints about abortions?

Out here (Montana) I think if the dics ask about guns in the home the second question is if you've got any for sale. and yeah, I'm gonna have to buy a gun. Beretta?

6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.
'cause idiot private citizens don't know how to do that I guess. You know, like they've been doing for years. Posted by: RWC (save the white childrens!) at January 16, 2013 02:28 PM (fWAjv) 555

"Repugnant" is liberal code for "extremely effective."
Most of the Executive Orders from Obama are (thankfully) impotent. I thought we were going to see something like all assault rifles being classified as Class 3 weapons requiring a license and stamp. I think Democrats like Reid got to Obama and made him understand they would lose the Senate over this fight. Posted by: McAdams at January 16, 2013 04:02 PM (lybWs) 565

Nor will I be asking how many knives, hammers, baseball bats, nail guns, electric drills, ropes, or blunt objects you have on your premises, because it is none of my concern nor should it be any of the government's business.
