The new NY gun law isn't "meaningless", what it means is that every skel in America now knows that the pickin's are even easier in New York State since the law abiding citizens (AKA "crime victims") there are even more incapable of defending themselves.

So if Obama had it in his power to issue Executive Orders that could prevent such tragedies as the Sandy Hook massacre, why did he wait for 20 children to be murdered before taking action? The blood of those children are on his hands. I have to assume the kids that he brought down to DC today who shall be spared from Obama's murderous policies do not include any Mexican children?

I was pondering what should be done to the police officers who shot that guy's dog (presuming that it doesn't turn out that the dog was attacking the cops and I want confirmation from someone other than the cops that such an attack occurred). The problem with monetary damages is that the taxpayers who did not shoot the dog are the ones who end up paying. That's bullshit.
My first thought was to take one of those officers' dogs out and shoot it, preferably in front of his kids and preferably after telling the children that this is happening because that's what Daddy did to someone else's dog. However, that winds up with some other dead dog so that's no good. My second thought is to let the guy beat the crap out of the officers who shot his dog. I am fond of that one. Okay, no, let's be honest, the response I really prefer is that the police department has to pay for that guy's new dog and then the new dog gets to gnaw on the officers' balls for awhile. I think that's the best answer. Posted by: alexthechick - SMOD. Team Stompy. at January 16, 2013 09:45 AM (VtjlW) 21

Study: Environmental regulations turning outdoorsmen into eco-felons
On my last job I had to review job applications and interview potential new employees. One of the questions on the application was the routine "have you ever been convicted of a felony". As all of the applicants had Top Secret security clearances you could imagine my surprise when I came across an application with that question answered "yes". Aside from that one oddity the applicant in question had excellent qualifications so we called him in for an interview. He interviewed exceptionally well and at the end of the interview I asken him: "I just have to ask you one thing..." He held up his hand and said "yeah, I know, the felony thing". "You see, I used to live in New Jersey and one spring I was cleaning out my yard. I dug up an old dead rose bush, loaded it into my truck, and dumped it out in the woods." "That's it?" I asked. "Well," he replied, "my neighbor and I really didn't get along too well- he saw me dumping the bush and dropped a dime on me. Turns out that the woods was part of the Pine Barrens and dumping stuff there, even stuff that is going to just naturally decay any way, is a felony in New Jersey". It was a little extra paper work, but we made him an offer- too bad he got a better offer from somebody else. Posted by: Nighthawk at January 16, 2013 09:50 AM (RSqz2) 32
The problem with monetary damages is that the taxpayers who did not
shoot the dog are the ones who end up paying. That's bullshit. Garnish the officers' wages until the new puppy is paid off. Honestly, that's what I think should happen in most cases where an officer's bad actions wind up with the city in hot water. I mean, it's one thing when someone complains that their precious snowflake could not possibly have been the one who attacked those officers, and any video evidence must be faked. It's something else when some basic double-checking would have shown they were at the wrong house. Posted by: AllenG (Dedicated Tenther) Channelling Breitbart at January 16, 2013 09:50 AM (/eBe8) 33

There'd be a lot of gnawed balls. Seems like it is pretty common to use dogs as targets nowadays. ---- A Riverside family is upset that a police officer shot their pit bull to death as officers set up a perimeter in hopes of catching a murder suspect. The incident occurred about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, on N. Orange Street when the family was not home. Sharon Gonzalez, whose daughter Lindsey owned the 9-year-old pit bull named Brad, said an officer told them that the dog was shot through a gate because officers needed to get into the backyard two doors away from the suspect’s house. Posted by: Vic at January 16, 2013 09:49 AM (53z96) That is also acceptable. I am cautiously in favor of removing qualified immunity for wrong house raids/responses. I think there's some misunderstanding that removing the immunity equates to automatic liability. It doesn't, the plaintiff would still have to show negligence, but it would make the actual people who fucked up liable instead of the taxpayers. The reason I am cautious about doing that it because of the whole my special snowflake was a good boy who didn't actually spray acid on those officers and they had the wrong house anyway thing. That being said, there does need to be a balance struck between hey we screwed up you guys pay for it and cops being held personally liable because My Precious Baby got a hangnail when the cops where hauling off that guy whose face he was eating. The cops who shot the dog through the gate to get into another backyard? Yeah. 65 Ms Puma,
No they were whining in the forums a bunch that i recall but truth is Bioware has been suberted by GLAAD hands for a long time. I am not averse to its inclusion if it is story sensible. Mass effect's Islam verboten romance options for example. A whole planet huh? "Ok" If a bunch of us "evil right wingers" demand a planet based on a genuine representative republic with little aid but happy people working to make honest gain, they will at best ninja us into oppressive slaver bastards and at worst laugh their asses off at us even though there are by my count a lot more capitalists than there are radical gays. 1. Said women do not have to deal with icky Republicans at all and they are in no danger of accidentally having a Pubby penis fall into their beckoning bedazzled vajayjay. That right their is worth 25% of POUTUS' salary or the larger amount--5% of his greens' fees. 2. Said women get their birth control and abortions on demand as a sacrament. This is literally priceless. 3. Said women get to observe FLOUTUS in her natural habitat and thus learn how to be just as beautiful and stylish so that they too can lure a stud like POUTUS to deign to grace their beckoning bedazzled vajayjays with said stud's cocktail weinees. We need to do it at the grassroots and blog levels first because by God the mules will grind us ALL to dust. Posted by: sven10077 at January 16, 2013 10:34 AM (LRFds) 154
151- I'm down. I really miss the MMOs. I drop off a bit in the summer, but this time a year I have nothing to do in the evenings other then internet porn, so really I would love to spend some time doing that instead.

we need an AoSHQ MMO multi game Guild liason COB or affiliate IMHO.
--- My participation in such would be limited at work or at home since I have small children. It's hard to enjoy this site without using the colorful metaphors that the JEF and SCOAMF deserves. Posted by: Brandon In Baton Rouge at January 16, 2013 10:36 AM (e0xKF) 156
154 gigg,
well if enough people express interest or you would like to volunteer for it it would be better that someone else do it. I'll give support but I am getting ready for another PCS move, and if the boy is showing a proper maturity may go OTR driver soon. Yes gang I will not be on as much, but restsafe knowing if you see a scarred 40 something guy in flip flops, stetson, sunglasses, and grin or snarl that may be me. Posted by: sven10077 at January 16, 2013 10:38 AM (LRFds) 157
155- It sounds like there are a few of us willing to devote some energy to it. I am very bad at names, but I know there is an Eve guy on here. I tried Eve, but that shit is too much like work for me. I would have to limit myself to STO I think.

STO might be best since its now free to play. So we won't feel like we are throwing money away when we can't play. And Star Trek is a cultural meme, we know the background. And firing photon torpedoes and blowing stuff up can be fun.

157 Gigg,
Yeah EVE is the GOP ideal....of course if I work at gaming will I be focused at work? The goons also piss me off to no end. Maybe one of the COBs could set up a survey and a sign in shit or something? I don't know I was and am very serious about "the right has to do some very out of the box for the right" thinking and we need to go into underground anarchial mode to at least have a presence online as a polite, interlocking vehicle for like minded people. Free Shit Army is being organized with overt federal money. We only organize by having multi tens of thousands rallies and whatnot but at the end of the day the kids who can be told by Obama V card of Girls type? We have NO voice there. I don't have a spare billion laying around or I'd buy a network and let AlexTheChick hold my proxy or something but we CAN join together in our hobbies and make our voices heard. The gaming companies either want our money enough to "tolerate' our pap like they do the left's or they don't..... time to find out. Posted by: sven10077 at January 16, 2013 10:46 AM (LRFds) 161
158 jones in CO,
not at all.... I'd open it out west in the Dakotas and lay the groundwork to go to Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchawan when Giggles kills the shale boom. Posted by: sven10077 at January 16, 2013 10:47 AM (LRFds) 162
157, 155 It sounds like Brandon and I might be willing to put in some effort. I am down if you are OK with me dropping involvement when the weather gets nicer. My toons are ancient, since launch really. But I can log on most nights to do maintenance, leveling assistance and crowd control. I suck at recruitment, but I am great for retention.

crazy? your thoughts --- Depends where you do it and how insane the liquor laws and/or members of the state licensing board are. In Baton Rouge, there was one bar/restaurant named Chelsea's which got fucked by the state Alcohol Tobacco Control agency because the then-head of the agency had a personal feud with the owner's father. The shit he put them through got overturned and the ATC head had to resign, but not without a tremendous amount of money and effort. Even then, dumbass only resigned after getting sued for stalking employees and running criminal background checks on random people, including Sen. David Vitter's wife, to look for potential dates. He ended up suing Jindal for wrongful termination despite the agency getting hit with massive federal fines for his misuse of criminal background checks. Sven,
I'm a cape and cowl guy too (as if my nickname didn't give it away). I've been playing Champions Online from the beginning, but I'm not on as much anymore, mainly because the new owners pay it as much as attention as Rosie O'Donnell pays to a healthy salad. Very little new content since the changeover, and lots more lockboxes you have to pay to open. That's not why I subscribed, idiots. --- Unfortunately, my effort would probably be extremely limited at best. Lots of stuff going on at home that doesn't allow for MMORPG use. Just want to make sure that I don't lead y'all on and think I'd be there much. Posted by: Brandon In Baton Rouge at January 16, 2013 10:50 AM (e0xKF) 168

159 Ms Puma,
I am inclined to agree, I'd add in that Champions is free to play as well and the superhero genre is a good one to find idealists. If you had the time I'd really like YOU to be boss. You are a moron in good standing, and have a decent relatively calm and presentable web persona. I am too cryptic and variable, a bit of a psycho when not sleeping as well. Hell I'd donate a gamecard every two months or enough steambucks or zen to make it worthwhile for the "liason" I was being sincere in telling ace when I calmed down last November that I am looking to start 'something else" because my patronage of the GOP it ain't working. Posted by: sven10077 at January 16, 2013 10:50 AM (LRFds) 170
167 brandon,
about where I am at in a longer timeline. I can vouch some money maybe using Ace as treasurer unless my analysis of our budget implodes. I want this to work, but I probably can't be lead. Hell if I had a magic wand I'd hire a "pro gamer" and have a guided guild with flashy web page that mixed game news, contests, etc etc I ain't that flush, but the crazy liberal fleets DO do such things. Posted by: sven10077 at January 16, 2013 10:52 AM (LRFds) 171
Brandon, that's fine. I will do what I can, if we get enough guys to sustain great. Otherwise I can try to keep it on life support.

Yes the queermo fleet I was in was way over the top, had lovely websites, officers all sorts of shit. I always like the idea of a pirate fleet, that works better with the Eve concept, but I generally feel like an outsider among the lib progressive assholes I usually run into online. I can honestly tell you the best tool for retention and sustaining a fleet is a vent server or something along that lines. Actually talking with and interacting with others of a like mind is a lot of fun when gaming online. Typing in general chat is a lot less engaging. Wow Sven, I am speechless. Thank you. But I have never tried to run a Guild or anything.
Maybe bounce this off the real gamers like AlextheChick the Wow Addicted. Though she would probably want the Federation to develop Raptors to serve as assault troops. Raptors with phasers. Posted by: Anna Puma (+SmuD) at January 16, 2013 11:04 AM (I9Y9q) 180
In case any of the MMO players are still here, there's a WoW Horde guild on Hellscream called ValU Rite Pudding which is intended as a place for the AoSHQ horde.

I'll post this in the next open thread as well:
My wife was moved to a regular hospital room yesterday, bypassing ICU step down. The OBs will be doing a super ultrasound scan tomorrow or Friday to check on the twins (and most likely we will find the genders). She is doing really well, but is still a bit affected by the sedatives/pain meds she was on for the preceding 9 days. The long road continues. 185 I'm not sure, I know it has party chat available but suspect that guild-wide isn't. I'm certainly open to setting up something (or more accurately *you* setting up something). My goal is simply to provide a fun space for the Horde to interact more closely than is possible here.

Well based on the interest, I think a voice server might serve us well. My little group used to all use it even in different games. It is honestly no joke a blast to get a bunch of gamers chatting about something. Can we get a rough gamer headcount? I can check into costs of a voice server or possibly even host one here at work. There seem to be enough gamers here that such a group would be worthwhile to organize. I wish that just once in a while, liberal policies could have a positive unintended consequence. But no - every single time, they fuck everything up for us. My dollar doesnt go nearly as far, rent is insane, Im less safe and I have less freedom.

189 For the WoW guild there's Anachronda, Cowboy, my son and myself currently. Conservative Monster helped us set it up but was only playing on a gift subscription. There are other WoW players on other servers and there was an Alliance guild at one time which is why I started on Hellscream. Unfortunately Army of Morons appears to have died before I started playing.
Sven and Truman North (I think) play STO and others probably do too, but I can't remember off the top of my head. It would be a good thing to e-mail ZakN about for a Gaming Thread topic. Posted by: Polliwog the 'Ette, still a Hobbit at January 16, 2013 11:56 AM (wbeNt) 193
192 OK, I don't know emails for anyone. But yes it sounds like we might be able to gel something together. Tell me how and I will ask someone for a gaming thread, and we can try and get something together. A facebook group for gaming morons might be an idea as well. I know some folks detest and boycott it, but it is cheaper and easier than setting up a dedicated website.

I'll contact ZakN on Twitter since I"m not finding his e-mail right now. He, Dude, and the "Gang of Gaming Morons" have a thread on Sundays about everyother week.
