Obama, 2006: Oh Hellz No I'm Not Voting To Increase the Debt Limit

New audio of Obama announcing that an $8 trillion ("trillion with a 't,' he specifies) national debt represents a "sad state of affairs."

$16 Trillion, on the other hand, is... well, funsolvency, I guess.

17 Said it before, going to say it again:

The GOP have to stop thinking like lawyers and accountants and they need to start thinking like revolutionaries and agitprop specialists. Think like Breitbart.

The response from the House GOP to the debt ceiling should be to call a press conference on the steps of the Capitol and form a long queue to the microphone. Every single member of the GOP caucus should step up to the mike and say this, just this:

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure."

Then step away from the mike and let the next person say it. Then the next.

The quote, of course, is from then-Senator Barack Obama in 2006, when he voted against raising the debt ceiling. Make him OWN his prior words. Make clear his blatant hypocrisy.

You have to wonder how many employers are offering that kind of a bump. My guess is that the majority are not.

"Then half an hour
later my asshole landlady called and announced that she's jacking my
rent almost a hundred fucking dollars a month."

What? What? How can this be? The feds say there is no inflation. Are you suggesting that they are massaging the data?

People who have been around the block with inflation -- and who lived through the 1970s -- know that it isn't always the top line price where it first appears. It's the low-line prices creeping up instead. Or the package size shrinking.

Mrs. Torquewrench and I shop assiduously for sales. Especially on food. Most especially on meat. The amount of marked-down meat at the market has shrunk hugely from where it was this time last year. Where there might have been half a dozen specials at the butcher's counter in 2012, today there might be one. And the percentage of discounting is reduced as well.

Expect more of this. Going to be a crummy year across the board for food prices. I would advise you to buy a big freezer and lay into stock cheap meat on the rare occasion it shows up -- except then you'll get raped by the higher electric bills thanks to Obama's energy policies. Yay! Four more years!

45 obama 2008.

The president pledged to take the first step toward fiscal
responsibility by, among other things, ending "accounting tricks" such
as refusing to include money for expenses such as the Iraq war or
natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina in the regular budget.
Such practices, Obama argued, only serve to mask the real size of the deficit.

76 The standard liberal response to this is: "Two wars that weren't paid for, an unfunded entitlement, and Bush fiscal policy (tax cuts) were responsible, not Obama!!!!"

Nothing is ever the man's fault. I'm sure he's lived his entire life that way.

Nevermind the fact that defense spending related to the war accounted for what, a tenth of the debt? They seem to have no problem with gargantuan unfunded entitlements, but Medicare Part D is the beyond the fucking pale? And Obama extended the Bush tax cuts while simultaneously braying about "not returning to the policies of the past".

104 i just happened on this site by chance. it's amazing! who knew there were such people running around loose, outside an institution.

you folks better renew your prescriptions. because when you all stop taking your meds you just go crazy. i'm sure glad i don't know any of you.
