James O'Keefe Outs Media Gun Hypocrites

Great stuff, probably his best sting yet.

O'Keefe and his team posed as anti-gun violence activists offering signs to anti-gun journalists saying "This House Is Gun Free". Surprisingly Toure (of minor MSNBC "fame") and staff members of the paper who exposed permit holders took a pass on announcing they had no guns in the home. The really fun part was an armed security guard at one of the paper's employees home declining the sign.

I don't want to embed the video here and steal their traffic but it's well worth the time.

We've passed the exit from the highway about whether or not this is still a fiscally conservative country (we're not) but we're at a crossroad about whether or not to still be a republic or not. We either make the elites live by the rules they impose on the rest of us or we give up the game entirely.

Related: New York state sucks. Without any public debate, the State Senate passed a sweeping gun control measure in the middle of the night. I guess they wanted to do it a month to the day of the Sandy Hook massacre.

Welcome to what it's like to live in a banana republic.

UPDATE: Toure takes to Twitter to attack O'Keefe, O'Keefe responds.

21 This line from a reader at Insty, you all need to read it and let it sink in. Because that is where we are, there is no moral component to obeying the law anymore. And those that think they are above the law have no claim upon its protections either:

"What the decision to not prosecute Gregory while simultaneously
insisting that the magazine ban law that he violated is important means
is that there is absolutely no moral component to our legal system.

The only reason to not violate the law is from a reasonable fear of
getting caught if you don’t have enough juice to get out of it. This
also has interesting implications for the jury system.

Let’s see how well this new way of organizing society works out."

Depends on the company and their own gun policy.

I've found the more local/home-grown they are, the more likely they are not to bother the police with such things until the cleanup is required. The other option is to call the cops on the guy- and cops in Texas don't like those kinds of threats.

And how if we'd followed the path of the far right Republicans and refused any compromise, well, not only would the centrist Republicans lose their seat to a Democrat but, the Democrats would pass the bill anyway?

So, we might as well compromise our principles a little bit here and there, or whenever the Dems need more votes, 'cause we're sure to win the next fight if we do.

Oh, I'm well aware. Much like AtC, I'm a fan of the JP series. But I don't think of them as arms, they're still legs to me.

And you know, I just looked them up, turns out most raptors were only a couple feet tall. Makes them a little less scary. Why, they can't even reach door handles.

104 Do we govern ourselves by clearly defined laws, and are they applied as equally to everyone as possible?

If not, chaos reigns. The right is still operating within a "rule of law" framework. The left is not. We'll either be subjugated, or there will be blood. Lots of it. It's not a question of if, it's only a question of when.
Posted by: BurtTC at January 15, 2013 11:14 AM (TOk1P)

Insty's been pounding on the coming middle class anarchy and, recently, bringing up Irish democracy. In both cases, the key element is that the middle class, defined as those who believe in following the law, decide to stop doing so because the law is perceived as arbitrary and ridiculous. It's not open rebellion, it's not loud, but it is there.

Look at all the jokes we make about the guns disappearing in those tragic boating accidents. If NY tries to implement those insane gun restriction laws, then there are going to be many people who simply will not comply. Guns will be lost or disappear or hey how do you like my new garden? People will not comply. They won't consider themselves revolutionaries. They won't consider themselves to be standing up to tyranny. But they will not comply.

No, Drew, you're offering a false dilemma, committing the either/or fallacy. When it comes to saving the Republic, there are options other than 'make the elites live by the rules they impose'.One way to make ruling elites stop doing what they're doing is to make them former ruling elites, one way or the other.

A Party of Lincoln, straight-ticket Republican voting, right-of-center conservative, I find considering options and making mental and real-world preparations I would never have considered even a few short years ago. Most of this has been gradual and incremental and nearly subconscious, a way of coping withthe vague uneasiness I've been feeling, a sense of uncertainty andlooming disaster. And anger. 148 Regarding cover/concealment and general protection.

Last year I made the decision to trust my life on the street to Second Chance body armor. I got the level IIa because it stops the most rounds. plus I got the Trauma Plate for the front.

What scares me is that, although I can fit an extra trauma plate in the front, I cannot fit a second one in back. As of late I have taken to duct-taping a second trauma plate to the area of my back where the heart and vital organs are located. Then I put my vest on.

Here is the questions. The ducttape solution, although tactically sound, is hot and painful to remove. I would like to go to the single-plate solution in back. What I am worried about is repeated hits to that area with .308 ammunition. I have a high-risk security job and I fear that I would be the target for repeated long-distance shots to my back.

Are any of you aware of a thicker plate that could stop, say, .338 Lapua or something like that? Is there a better way to do the second plate?

BTW, I am, of course, usually carrying a pair of ceramic plates in my briefcase so that I can shield my head.

I've seen that for years. It's true, of course. They went to war over much less oppression and provocation than we have now.
===============
They did, but it took almost 15 years of talking, agitating and anger-building before shots were fired. They suffered under the laws they found so oppressive for a long time.

There was a lot of "Let's try another petition" and "the British Army is the best in the world, how could we fight them?" that, like today, caused sane men to pause, delay and reflect.

There is a critical mass coming.

I see more over-aggressive enforcement action to "make an example" (the type of which they are already engaged in, reading about that guy who committed suicide) as this "middle-class revolt" is already in full swing and they know it.

Tax season is coming. And there are going to be a lot of middle class people who have been given more than enough reason to cheat on their taxes . . . and there are hundreds and thousands like that EPA administrator burrowed into our government.

A Seneca elder once told me it's because "Indian" has connotations of "warriors" and bravery that the Indians prefer to the wishy-washy NA appellation forced on them by Whitey.)

I buy all my gas tax-free on the reservation, and I buy only Indian smokes, which are also tax-free.

And now I am buying a whole lot more there, all tax-free. You can buy all sorts of stuff tax-free at the rez and I plan to take every advantage of it that I can to make up for my increased taxes.

190 Here is the questions.

Botach Tactical at botach dot com just had a IIa one inch thick soft plate on sale for $89.00. Any way to attach the back plate to the vest via velcro? I have found places online that sell both sides of velcro in sheet size. 24" or 36" wide.

Posted by: rickb223 at January 15, 2013 11:48 AM (GFM2b)

191 Here is an easier solution to affixing that trauma plate.

I bet there is a nylon or similar material shell that goes over the actual vest. If there is, figure out how to remove that shell.

Turn the shell inside out and open it so you can see the back portion. Then fold the front of the shell over so it aligns. Mark where the front trauma plate is on the back portion of the shell.

Measure out enough material to cover the trauma plate with perhaps 1/4in extra on three sides. Cut out the material.

Double sew that material on the three sides that are long. Keep open side pointing to collar. This forms a pouch.

Once you put the vest back together. Slide the back trauma plate into that pouch. And voila. No more duct tape.

If this doesn't work, be creative.

I think 1861 is a better analogy than 1770. If you pick your side, you're no longer firing on your "fellow Americans." Those on the other side are on the other side.

Without an organized force of some combination of local law enforcement, national guard units, and military units that have commanders who bring their troops to "our" side, we don't stand a chance, but when blood starts spilling, you'll be able to pull the trigger. We all will.

I am very fond of riggers. My company command was an aerial delivery company. Started as Armor/Cav but had a back injury that compressed the discs so much I couldn't be doing 55mph cross-country in 70 tons of steel and Chobham anymore. So the Army's perfectly logical solution, was to have me jump out of planes 3 times per month.

The former military in here will recognize that exact "thought" process.

Unfortunately, progressives have always preferred liquidating troublesome populations.

Consider the Warsaw Ghetto uprising of 1943. A handful of half-starved and desperate Jews, mostly kids and teenagers, armed only with Molotov cocktails and a handful of revolvers were able to hold off the military police and then a regiment of Waffen SS for several weeks until the latter came in and razed what was left of the buildings with flame throwers, bombs and gas.

Imagine if the Jews of Europe had the weapons and the will to use them as early as 1934?

235 In the letter to Boxer, Hagel apologized for disparaging remarks he made in 2006, saying a "Jewish lobby" in Washington tends to "intimidate" lawmakers. He deemed it as "a very poor choice of words" and said he understands how such words "can be constructed as anti-Israel."

Hagel calls US senators to clarify views on Iran
Hagel nomination conveys chilling message
Hagel clarified that he is "overwhelmingly supportive of a strong US-Israel strategic and security relationship," and promised to work to expand the ties between the two countries. "I have always been supportive of a strong US-Israel strategic relationship and always supported Israel's right to defend itself against attack," he stressed.

Critics of the Nebraska Republican took to Sunday television news programs to drive home concerns that Hagel opposes sanctions and is satisfied with containing Iran, as opposed to preventing it from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

But Hagel, who repeatedly voted in the Senate against US sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program, wrote in the letter that he supports unilateral sanctions against Iran.

255 If the words of the Constitution don't mean what they say, then the federal government itself has no legal standing, because its only reason for being is precisely and exactly, the Constitution.

This is where the "liberals" have been headed for a long time.

We all know that "liberals" have absolutely no concept of "unintended consequences."

If you continually interpret the Constitution to mean exactly the opposite of what the plain text says, that same interpretation would lead you inexorably to the conclusion that the federal government (created by that Constitution, remember) has no authority to do anything to anyone, anywhere.

Do they really, REALLY want to go there?

Number of police and military - Around 2 million.

I can verify this from my mother's experiences. The Hungarian Jews were not deported until March of '44, yet refugees fleeing with eyewitness reports were shunned. Are any of you aware of a thicker plate that could stop, say, .338
Lapua or something like that? Is there a better way to do the second
plate?

If you have reason to be worried about being shot with a .338 Lapua, body armor should be second on your shopping list after an armored personnel carrier.

Shit, I sincerely and honestly feel much sympathy for folks in that situation.

Love is blind, but neither my wife nor I could have possibly done that to ourselves...since we're really big believers in the whole "Till Death Do Us Part" deal.

I grew up just outside DC during the Reagan era and her dad was a (R) State Senator who had a radio show at one point...so other than the recent "strike the R, replace with I" conversion - we're firmly in the reality-based community over here way to the right of center.

But Austin is lovely. The most un-Texas-like city in Texas...but whew, still in Deep Red Texas.

307 @281 Many thanks for posted the Gecko45 thread, that is gold!

"On this particular fateful day my team was assigned to patrol Sector Zebra-1, the mall. It was an uneventful day, until the unthinkable happened…It was about 8:45PM, and the mall was closing and nearly empty. Me and my ’shadow’ were sweeping quadrant 069E, the mall arcade, a known hotspot for Asian Gangs and assorted thugs. The arcade was located at the far east end of the mall, next to the movie theater and the orange julius.I smelled trouble, and couldn’t spot any movement from the arcade, which was unusual due to the presence of a new Mortal Compact arcade game. Those Asians Gangs love Mortal Combat.I went to “condition red,” and discretely unholstered my Glock17 loaded with Black Talons. I motioned to my partner to sweep right to flank the arcade, but he was already in motion sensing the trouble in my facial expression. My partner drew his S&W 1006 and went prone behind a potted palm tree.I crept towards the arcade, when the power went out. It was an ambush! I could still see relatively well due to the full moon, shining through the building’s skylights, and years in a dark secret Russian prison center had honed my natural night vision to that of a tomcat.A perp popped up from behind the Orange Julius counter with a full auto Kalashnikov with a 75rd drum, and opened up in the direction of my partner, meanwhile two perps popped up from behind the skeeball machine with sawed off 12 gauges. Another two perps appeared on the upper level and brought down hell-fire on us from above. One had a Winchester Model 70 in .30-06 with a 10x scope and the other was laying down suppressive fire with a Mac10 variant. The perps were all sporting cheap russian NVGs.I dove under a metal bench, and lined my sights on the AK bandit. A double-tap to the chest, and a quick follow-up to the head brought him down like a sack of potatos..."

So Patton Oswalt of him.

319 re: "Imagine if the Jews of Europe had the weapons and the will to use them as early as 1934?"

There's a not insignificant chance that your alternate universe has a Molotov-Ribbentrop-Hull Pact in it.

Remember, it was the State Department's refusal to accept the "Voyage of the Damned" refugees after Kristallnacht that convinced Hitler he was free to get his Holocaust on. And Hull (and Roosevelt) knew exactly what message he was sending in America's name.

If Hitler had been fighting the Jews, I think the U.S. would have joined him.

320 I know Cuomo think this is a huge notch on his belt, but he's basically destroyed whatever national ambitions he had with this gun law.

I want to see a Democrat win states like Virginia, Ohio, PA, Michigan, etc after passing a law that every gun owner has to renew their "gun registration" every 5 years.

I really hope he's the Dem nominee in 2016.
