Happy Tuesday.

Rep. Paul Ryan endorsed Sen. Marco Rubio's immigration proposal. Under Rubio's proposal (there is no legislation yet) aliens would have to pay a fine and back taxes and maybe do community service. Most would then be able to apply for permanent residency and, eventually, just like current LPRs, apply for citizenship, but "they'd get behind everybody who came before them" in line.

Rob Lowe had a cogent thought on Piers Morgan last night: "I do think that the last thing viewers want is another Hollywood actor telling them anything about guns pro or con." Yup.

1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Tuesday, January 15, 2013. On this day in 1973 President Nixon ordered a halt to all offensive operations in Vietnam. I was there.

2 Toughest gun control bill in the country passes the NY Senate.

"It is well-balanced, it protects the Second Amendment," said Senate Republican leader Dean Skelos of Long Island. "And there is no confiscation of weapons, which was at one time being considered.

He later added as he drops his pants and bent over, “please sir may I have another”. He is a typical NY Republican, a D with an R after his name. Hey you stupid shit, ANY gun law that restricts sales or hampers honest citizens is a violation of the 2nd amendment.

The BS law is expected to pass the House easily.

3 Some of you may have missed this yesterday from the Obama blatherfest. He wants debt limit hike and no negotiations, just do it because I said so. He also says he can implement more gun control because he said so, without congress. According to Politico (no link) he is readying 19 such orders.

5 Under the “no shit Sherlock” department; $5.7B in UN spending to reduce poverty doesn’t actually reduce poverty. These socialist programs never work anywhere they are tried be it Somalia, the US, or the old Soviet Union. The only thing that actually reduces poverty is elimination of regulations, removal of graft and corruption, and lowering taxes. These attract capital for investment which makes jobs. But the communists never can see this.

7 Obama looking at eliminating the gas tax and taxing per mile which will require tracking all cars. Some are estimating the amount of taxes will go up 250%. I have never in my lifetime seen anyone change a tax scheme without increasing it so stand by. His voters don’t give a shit if the gas tax goes up 250%. The FSA doesn’t drive cars, they use inner city buses which are being subsidized by the gas tax or they are rich SOBs that don’t give a damn what anything costs.

They claim they need the money because not enough for roads and bridges. The problem is that they have spent it all on other shit. What we need to do is eliminate the federal gas tax, eliminate the DOT, and get the feds out of roads, bridges, and other shit and let each State take care of their own shit.

HOOKERS’ UNION

A dedicated Teamsters union worker was attending a
convention in Las Vegas and decided to check out the
local brothels. When he got to the first one, he asked
the Madam, "Is this a union house?"

"No," she replied, "I'm sorry it isn't."

"Well, if I pay you $100, what cut do the girls get?"

"The house gets $80 and the girls get $20," she answered.

Offended at such unfair dealings, the union man stomped off down
the street in search of a more equitable, hopefully unionized shop.
His search continued until finally he reached a brothel where the
Madam responded, "Why yes sir, this is a union house. We observe
all union rules."

The man asked, "And, if I pay you $100, what cut do the girls get?"
"The girls get $80 and the house gets $20."

"That's more like it!" the union man said.

He handed the Madam $100, looked around the room, and pointed
to a stunningly attractive green-eyed blonde.

"I'd like her," he said.

"I'm sure you would, sir," said the Madam.
Then she gestured to a 92-year old woman in the corner,
"but Ethel here has 67 years seniority and according to
union rules, she's next."

NOW you know what's wrong with the AUTO industry and
the seniority system in the House and Senate.

And what I have long said, once the population reaches a certain point in a city it moves to Fascism and Communism in its outlook. Since CA has 90% of its population living in that zone the entire State has become a ate controlled by the Fascist greens and the Communist Donks.

71 Good morning, 'rons and 'ronettes. And thanks for the daily briefing, Gave and Vic. Apologies again for the lack of a story yesterday; I have to do things to protect my phoney-baloney job, gentlemen!

Anyway, last Friday I said I would tell you a story about a suicide. The story actually begins in 1924, when a 500-acre development below the summit of Mount Lee was announced. It was to be called "Hollywoodland," and - as befits the larger-than-life world of the movies, a huge $21,000 sign consisting of thirteen letters, each 30 feet wide and 50 feet tall, was erected on the slope. The sign was framed with 4000 20-watt bulbs, and a caretaker was hired full-time just to replace them as they burned out.

Five years later, a New York actress named Lillian Entwistle arrived in Tinseltown. She might have been one of the thousands who came west with nothing more than stars in their eyes, but Millicent - who preferred to be called "Peg" - had good reason to be confident. She was a graduate of the famous Theatre Guild and carried with her a thick portfolio of rave reviews. At this time, when sound was taking over and Hollywood talent scouts were scraping New York clean in a race to find "real" actors, Peg could be forgiven for thinking she could write her own ticket.

But, just as becoming a star in the silent days could be a crapshoot, just the fact that you could "talk" in these post-Jazz Singer days was as much of a gamble. Peg began small, with little stage parts, eventually co-starring with Billie "Glinda" Burke in a play called The Mad Hopes. In 1932, RKO signed her for a single picture, a potboiler called Thirteen Women which starred Myrna Loy.

That movie, sadly, was to be her high point. Thirteen Women was a flop, and Entwistle's small part didn't result in any offers from major or even second-tier studios. She could have gone back east, but something in her snapped. On Sunday, September 18, an anonymous call went out to the Hollywood police. A woman, hiking on the slopes below the "Hollywoodland" sign, had found the body of a young woman. Heading out to investigate, the cops were bemused to find a paper bundle outside their doors; when it was opened, it contained a jacket, shoes and a purse, all items later determined to belong to Peg Entwistle. When the police arrived at the Sign, they found Peg's body. She had apparently hiked up to the Sign, used a workman's ladder to climb to the top of the letter H and then threw herself into eternity, dying of blood loss and multiple fractures of the pelvis.

Back at the police station, the cops looked inside Entwistle's purse. There was a note, signed "P.E." (which, when published, alerted her uncle, who was able to identify the body): I am afraid. I am a coward. I am sorry for everything. If I had done this a long time ago, it would have saved a lot of pain.

Suicide, said the police, and film fans and historians since have agreed. And yet. . .who was the caller who discovered the body? Why on earth did she bundle up Entwistle's clothes and purse and leave them on the steps of the police station before placing her call? Why, if Entwistle had left her uncle's house on Beachwood Drive on the 16th (as he testified) and made her way up the slopes of Mount Lee to kill herself (as the police thought) were her shoes completely unscuffed and her dress nearly immaculate? Was it really suicide – or a very clever murder?

No one really knows. The body was cremated and sent home to Ohio, to be interred next to her father. All of her personal effects vanished. And the woman hiker has never been identified. Although, if you can make your way up to the Sign some dark, calm night, you might ask Peg herself; a spirit in white is reported to be seen there on certain lonely evenings.

Oh, I nearly forgot. . .there’s one last irony. The day after Peg’s body was found, a letter was delivered to her small apartment. It was an offer for a small role in a local stage production. It wasn’t anything major, of course, but – what if Peg Entwistle had held on for just a few more days?

Hope you enjoyed that. And if you did, toddle over to YouTube and check out the documentary Under the Hollywood Sign by Hope Anderson. A match to the blog of the same name, it’s a history of the Sign, its deterioration and restoration and has a special, sad, emphasis on poor Peg Entwistle.

And don’t forget my book, The Director’s Cut: A Theda Bara Mystery, available on Kindle and at the Amazon and Barnes and Noble websites.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

72 Is the Interstate vital for commerce? No. Far more travels via train. While AMTRAC is a waste, the rail network is still vital. Just like the rail heads in the Ardennes was vital for Germany in WWI and WWII for their offensives.

I made the exact same trip in 1971 in about 8 hours.

However, if we agree that the government should live within the Constitution then it should not have been done without changing the Constitution. We can't have it both ways. That ios what the liberals want to do with the second amendment.

79 Ms Anna Puma, I am so glad to hear that failed.

Kali is such a crazy state. I was out there in the summer last year.

I met a guy whose father in law died. He had a big gun collection and being Kali all the kids did not want those evil guns. I stopped in to have a look.

I said..sell all the new stuff on ebay or gunbrokers. The old military surplus stuff will be hard to move (special clientele and all). I will take that. I like them poor old orphan war rifles.

I walked away with a russian and a chinese sks, a mosin, a k98 mauser, and a south american mauser.

I could not afford the Krag (Spanish American war rifle), so I left it on the table. Broke my heart to do that I tells ya.

83 76 Vic,

It is the snowball effect.

Ike cut a deal with the devil and it was not just the autobahn that impressed him. He was a savvy logistics guy and in the '20s he saw what a nightmare national defense would be in the event of a coastal attack. "Why not have a highway like the Autobahn?," he thinks later and "we'll pay for it with some taxes on gasoline and put good folk to work?'

The problem is that anytime you have DC as the middleman at some point they decide "all your base are belong to us!" and you get a Schmuck Schumer type who ties a bunch of nonsensical hardly related bullshit to the defacto pork cannon at gunpoint like drinking age and tobacco rules.

Yeah I think what the nation really needs and something that the too stoned to care "libertarians" should get behind is an Article V convention.

Let's settle this shit once and for all and stop the rot.

You'd almost think the founders did not put a mechanism in the founding to fix any 'errors"....that is if you have a modern moonbat education.

On this day in 1947, a bodywas found in a vacant lot on South Norton Avenue in Los Angeles. It turned out to be a young 22-year old Massachusetts girl who had come to California like so many others, searching for fame and fortune.

Her name was Elizabeth Short. You know her as The Black Dahlia.

Absolutely, Sven. There are murders in Detroit or NM or southern Cali that are much more gruesome than the Dahlia's, but no-one cares. As far as the case itself, John Gilmore's Severed is still the best read, even if a bit out of date. IMO, Gilmore came the closest to solving it. As far as a recreation of what LA was like back then, Donald Wolfe's The Black Dahila Files is the best. Just ignore his solution (concerning the publisher of the LA Times and mobster Bugsy Siegel).

And the less said about Steve Hodel's execrable The Black Dahila Avenger, the better.

125 119 Ms Puma,

http://gunhub.com/rifles/2746-low-numbered-springfield-03-safe.html

Here's a thread with some of the old issues....

basically it boils down to the steel.

The '03 ramped up during the transition phase in gun material engineering.

Some early 1903 rifles made by Springfield Armory and Rock Island
Arsenal were made of carbon manganese steel and some of the receivers
were reported to have burst. At about serial no. 800,000 for
Springfield Armory and 285,500 for Rock Island, the heat treatment was
changed making the receivers much stronger. Later, a different type of
steel was used altogether in the receivers and bolts. There may be a
slight risk of a burst receiver when shooting modern full power ammo in
the older rifles. They are generaly desireable as collector pieces
rather than shooters.

The good news is that Gibbs who is hated by the prusits tests their batches.

It is not a design flaw so much as the simple effect of the march of industrial process.

YMMV, I prefer the Enfield or P-17 myself.

He's placating his base because he has to, but he's anxious to move beyond it because a loss here could derail his momentum and aura of inevitability for the things he really wants, principally amnesty but really the ability to permanently increase government spending as a % of GDP.

140 120 Comatus,

I don't count the ACW because civil wars are always "anything goes" affairs....

I have no doubt if there is ever a civil war in this nation that those same hippies who cry hard enough for poor poor Jihadi Jim now to fill the sabine will try to fill the Sabine with some other fluid a little more.

I understand where you're coming from but understand that part of what makes Nappy and '48 notable is that it was contra the norm.

The wars of religion are kind of like my civil war "exception" but by the Victorian era the west had pretty much calmed down accepted the protestant reformation and was busy using conflict as a sort of national sport.

Hell I think left to their own devices the upper classes would have had WW1 over in about a year and the end result would have been Germany picking up another couple of French provinces and a german hegemony on the Eastern frontier. The thing is that events as they often do got away from "th beautiful people." France looked at the demographics and relaized that if they did not stop germany in a 12 year window they would not be able to do so in a rather worse way by 1927-1934,

I don't know I do know that once upon a time 'socialist shithole" meant Kruppianer germany and no nation had gleefully starved ~26 million for shits and giggles.

Your mileage may vary.

If I had to pick a peak for western civ it would be circa 1895-1915 and if I could change one thing it would have been some race relations protocol pre-emptively.

I'll take you up on the fade though.

Regards,
sven

You do not have to deport anyone.

All you have to do is make it impossible to operate in the country.

They will self-deport.

146 I suspect that there will be a requirement that the
people with old cars, like my 14 year old F-150, add a tracking device
and they will "mandate" that the States enforce this.

Posted by: Vic at January 15, 2013 07:04 AM (53z96)

They'll just mandate that all license plates must have a tracking device in them. Since the plate number is linked to the make and model, it will give them an easy way to track vehicles. Naturally, they'll use the threat of withholding highway funds and/or some other federal money to force compliance.

I would have thought that IP would be front and center for his Marxist friends in their battle against property ownership, if for no other reason than they couldn't possibly understand what it is and why it is so important to investment capital.

163 @ 134, 'You are bettter armed than some European Countries, what would you chartge me to move inside your perimeter"

That made me laugh. Its Texas. The lil old grannie lady up the lane with the walker most likely has more guns and ammo than me.

But I have been on a gin and ammo crate buying tear recently.

My wife (experty shootist) was complaining today while we were talking on Skype.

Here is a snippet of an email I sent my mom today which says it all.

"I have been ordering guns and ammo out the ass. Big, bad, black shoot thru a brick wall or a tree and kill the Ahole on the other side guns!

I have so many crates of ammo come, My wife is tired. She says our home looks like the Army fort! Guns and cratesof ammo everywhere!

They are supposed to bring the crates of ammo to the door and drop it off with an adult signature. They just throw it by the gate and she has to haul it in. God bless her, she does.

She tried to pick up a crate with one hand the other day..Its 70 pounds, 1120 rounds. She grabbed that crate handle and flew out sideways trying to lift it up. It did not move. I had to laugh! She said I don't know how you can pick those up and trot down the driveway with em!

She said I have 6 crates of ammo just arrived. How many more are coming, she said? I said I really don't know, 10 -12, who knows..its gonna get me up above 30,000 rounds though by my figuring!

I bought a M1A (like an M-14 but semi auto) ..from a police dept turn in. It has not arrived yet, but Now that there is a rifle from hell! If its good enough for the police its good enough for me!

The police are all getting AR-15s now (cat and rat rifles) and turning the big boys in. They can't afford the ammo for the big guns. I love their former rifle..M1A a big banger, a bad mama jama with a 20 round magazine and 5 more! They chose wrong!"

As I said earlier, I have an old F-150. My taxes had gone down to about $45/year. At the time SC had the highest property tax rate in the nation on vehicles.

They did reform. They raised the sales tax and decreased property taxes and shifted funding for schools from property tax to the State.

So I got higher sales tax. The county after losing that property tax that supposed to be for the "schools" immediately added a new "fee" to our property tax bill. My car tax went to $75/year and the house taxes also went up.

Net effect from "reform". Taxes went up, both sales tax and property tax.

Thanks, also, for another great big steaming cup of piss me off. The crap this lying crapweasel in the whitehouse is proposing is enough to make one's blood boil.
I share the exasperation with need for more tax to fix roads and bridges. I grew up with the Massachusetts Turnpike. Wel'll just put up these tolls until the road is paid for they said. Take a nice ride to the berkshires they said. Tolls are still up in perpetuity.
When I lived in NYC, I heard the GW Bridge raked in $1 million per day! What the F do they do with that money if not to fix the bridge and roads? The fat Chris Chrristie got in cahoots with Cuomo to played some kabuki dance to raise the toll last year. Total farce.
I had long thought the gas tax was to be used to fix travel infrastructure, no? Silly me. Isn't the gas tax "progressive" enough for them? If I drive more, I pay more in gas tax, no? So maybe it's not really about tax revenue, but more about control and central planning. Will these fuckers never stop?

221 Myself, a member of the raaacist GOP, wonders a few things:

1. Why is it that the democrats have no prominent elected minorities except for the crooked LA mayor and some plantationed members of the CBC, who really have no power?

2. Why is the democrat party so cacalier about the unemployment rate amongst their black constituency, particularly black youth?

3. Why does no one comment on how the women in the White House are paid far less than the men?

4. Why is it that the White House is hiding its pathetic performance in Mali, in which they tried to do defense on the cheap and didn't understand tribal relationships, leaving Mal now under the threat of jihadist occupation?

5. Why are the dems so fond of the Arab culture, when so much of it oppresses gays and women?

I suppose it's too early to solve mysteries like this, but it does strike me as something the press should be interested in. It almost seems like the democrats are, well, hypocrites who are really only interested in wealth and power, but that couldn't be it, could it?

226 195 MuseisLuse,

You made the point yesterday muse on CDC as I made the points I made this morning well except for my Brian Dennehy as the Hindenburg post I had left that out a few days.

CDC having more "enforcement officers" is bad, of course in a nation where the Department of Education has a swat team....

Reason Magazine article on the "no we don't send SWAT teams out for delinquent student loans"

HUD also has a "SWAT team" although they are really wielding the most lethal of all weapons, spreadsheets and a sense of entitlement.

In the end we will either allow the Feds to be militant in their use of law to exert control or we won't.

Muse message received on my presence.

I'll let the quality of the place get back up to snuff.

"According to an incident
report from the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, a 17-year-old
Byrnes High School student was having a conversation on Facebook with
someone who apparently was an ex-girlfriend. The student stated that on
"Zero Day, he will shoot and kill 42 students and 8 teachers," the
incident report states.When
his father arrived at the school, he confirmed his son's claim to have a
.38 caliber handgun and a 12 gauge shotgun, the incident report states.
Several weapons at the home later were “taken into evidence for
safekeeping,” according to a statement from Master Deputy Kevin Bobo.According to a statement from Bobo, the student has been transported to a local hospital where he is being evaluated."

242 Guys Muse is doing me a favor.

I had made the effort to reduce my presence and was so impressed with Obama's overreach I broke the 100 barrier over the weekend.

I lurk even when I am below 100 posts, and I am perhaps drowning out "better quality, more cogent, topical, and eloquent posters."

For several weeks my only posts were on the Sunday night ONT and an occasional posting of "best buys I found on ARs."

There are plenty of things to do around the house, I have a contract I am setting up and I was sucked in by how interesting Monday's posts were.

If I have something 'worthy" to add I'll let y'all know and let the east german judges have their say as well.

Keep on plugging, I don't want to top this week's list either I took #1 in 3 days last week.

I keep 5-9 windows open while playing youtube episodes of engineering disasters, megadisasters, and seconds from disaster playing while I do paperwork.

A lot of the time I can maintain focus and come up with something to post that if not witty is at least twitty.

Then again some other times I get so angry and hypervigilant that I am repetitive and meandering.

I don't want to devolve, while gaining back the ability to type with the toes on my feet would be neat I already feel as I age the need to scratch places that human society deems taboo.

All the best,
sven

247 Net effect from "reform". Taxes went up, both sales tax and property tax.

A buddy of mine is a lawyer in Germany, err, Rechtsanwalt I guess I meant to say.

Anyway, his tax story is that after the East German integration costs had been pretty much absorbed they had a "national discussion" about taxes and revenue sources that basically boiled down to (a) higher income taxes for the rich but a lower VAT because that is fairer and easier on the poor. or (b) hold the already high taxes for the rich steady so as to not impede growth while raising the VAT subject to staples-exclusions because everyone should share the burden more equitably. In short, same basic debate, different country.

The result? Why choose?!? Let's do both on a temporary basis until we are well in the black and able to sustain the next downturn without incurring significant debt. The now permanent rates that resulted are all too predictable: A 50% top marginal rate plus a 19% VAT.

With the recent economic downturn in the rest of the EU (though not in Germany as their budget, like the equally reviled Texas here in the U.S., is actually balanced) the "debate" has now shifted to whether still higher rates can be borne and just how necessary are some of those pesky VAT exclusions anyway?

Politicians are the same all over. The only solution is neutering their power.

I don't think Lowe is "one of us" in that he's a conservative. I really don't think so. I do know that he's a family man, so I wouldn't be surprised if his more left-leaning sensibilities have been quelled somewhat in favor of common sense ideals that protect his family. If he's at all a Republican he's probably a RINO.

I think Lowe is a lot like Jon Lovitz and some of the other actors who have been harangued on Twitter for not falling in step with the Democrat party line. They fall into the classical liberal mindset rather than the progressive goose step. That means that they are willing to question what's said on BOTH sides, and don't feel that they have to conform to the dominant Hollywood party's paradigm. I'd rather not know their politics, period, but if they're going to comment on the political scene I don't care if they're liberal or not so long as they're willing to say, "This is just STUPID."

274 248 Mama AJ,

I lurk here and hot air pretty much whenever doing so won't cause a traffic accident. You guys endured me at my worst when I went into Panic mode when my instincts on western Ohio politics told me Romney was in deep trouble. I apologize for my posting volume and lack of quality, in my defense I was up for maybe 6 days with at most two hours of sleep at irregular intervals, but I should have had the restraint to just stare in the corner.

There are several regular posters, especially in the dawn patrol that are already or should be quality bloggers on their own. Mary Poppins, Vic, Anna Puma, Allen G, Truman North, HeatherRadish, PHXGrl at times and the list I quoted is not meant to be inclusive it is what literally popped into my head in 5 seconds when i thought, "why?" At my best I am a notch below them because I try to be clever and often fail, at my worst I am probably near Average Joe in post quality.

I'm a bit afraid to make a stab at having a blog because I am not the savviest HTML slinger, and my wife lives in the ever loving, anaconda like embrace of the US government.

Thanks as always to Ace and the Cobs for being here in the main and not nuking me from orbit on the whole.

Ace if you perchance read this I apologize for not getting in touch with you this month as I'd hoped to try to set up a regular donation or get your advice on what/whom could use the funding but we found out that wife will be sent back to FT Jackson and I am in the process of calculating the new family budget and how much wiggle room I have in the family budget. My current toil that I am not enjoying enough is trying to reason out whether my current business venture makes sense with the change of location.

Vic at some point most likely if/when there is a SC meetup and we've met I will be needing your advice/counsel on SC politics and the GOP operatives worth backing since we will be in the area longer than a year.

Not angry at anyone, and was not meaning offense to any.

Usually when I have something to say, there's someone else here who is thinking like me and can say it better.
Thorvald, BackwardsBoy, Grey Fox and some others come quickly to mind. BTW- you're one of those "some others".

284 sven, you are as free to post as much as you like just like everyone else here.

Just because one person can't seem to scroll past that which they don't like isn't your problem. You're not being offensive or argumentative.....there is nothing wrong with your posts (although I do have to read them twice sometimes to glean their meaning ).

So, post away....don't go away.

285 277 Regarding Lowe, I think he is slowly becoming conservative. He realizes that the left uses empathy for decision making while the right uses logic.

---
I seem to remember reading something he said a few years ago that sounded slightly conservative, or at least libertarian. Any holly-wood fucker that is not a screaming libtard lunatic is refreshing, even a "reasonable" democrat would be a breath of fresh air.

286 #277, #285 I read his autobiography a couple of years ago. He seems to be a slightly liberal but normal person who got sidetracked for a while by the Hollywood culture, but has now settled down with a wife and kids. He grew up in the 70's, when there were a lot of latch key kids in his subdivision.

Great stories about people who were his friends and how some of them became successful and some got lost in the drug culture. It's an interesting although not political read...more like an interesting voice from a culture of which I knew nothing.

287 Here is a cartoon of Colin Powell from 1995. Somethings never change.

288 Cuomo's rantings lately were pretty outrageous. I'd love to see the Blue states all stripped of arms production capability.

They all need to follow Ronnie Barretts lead.

Long letter but can be boiled down to:

"Barrett cannot legally sell any of its products to lawbreakers. Therefore, since California's passing of AB50, the state is not in compliance with the US Constitution's 2nd and 14th Amendments, and we will not sell nor service any of our products to any government agency of the State of California."

Of course! Gotta be racist SOMEHOW, else how could I be a conservative? That's what the lefties tell me anyway.

So I wonder when all the police dept's in the state will turn in their now illegal firearms?

Will there be an amnesty program? Inquiring minds want to know.

292 Just because one person can't seem to scroll past that which they don't like isn't your problem.

This is something that I will never understand. The scroll bar is our FRIEND. If we don't want to read something, we can just scroll past it. Is that so difficult for people to understand? I do it all the time, especially any time Drudge has a picture of the Preezy above the headline. *SHUDDER*

I agree with Tami, et al, sven. Post however and whenever you see fit. Anyone who doesn't like it can make like a 2x4 and screw.

293 The GOP is making a huge mistake with Amnesty. Every single illegal will now "be on the road to citizenship" which means you can no longer kick them out.

Impoverished illegal aliens aren't going to vote Republican. They want free shit, they could care less about balanced budgets and tax cuts.
