Hell, I'm presuming there are lawyers for insurance companies that already have the suits drafted so that when an insured has guns stolen and those guns are used in a crime and the homeowner gets sued, bingo bango, haul the Journal in as a third party defendant.

As for the technical goof grounding the C-17, well there have been gremlins in the system. Like the MFD's going black and rebooting in flight. That one is always fun. RAF C-17s, all four and later six, have been supporting their efforts in Afghanistan so like their USAF counterparts have clocked a lot of flight hours.

I'm sorry, but I agree. Clothing like that outside of Vegas isn't appropriate for a work environment.

Years ago, I had the good fortune of having an intern assigned to me to train. She was Brazilian and every bit as striking as Brazilians go. She wore clothing that I would call "professional", but liked to wear things that pushed the line. Pencil skirts, blouses, heels, etc. Sometimes, when she bent down to get something I could tell exactly which thong she was wearing. Don't get me wrong, I was very appreciative but I worked in a very PC environment that would get me reprimanded if I ever said a hint of something inappropriate.

I got zero work done that summer.

Yeah, pencil skirts, blouses and heels are pretty much considered the most conservative and professional outfits around. Of course, if you are putting 15 pounds of fertilizer into a 10 pound bag, that might just change the professionalism of it just a wee tad.

I will just take this opportunity to remind people that I was once tasked with client prep for trial that involved taking a 20something young women down the street to the mall to buy underwear since apparently going commando in court is just peachy. She was very pretty and you could see that she was trying to wear her nicest, most conservative outfit but yeah. She crossed her legs and my boss turned every possible shade of red.

44 My Brazilian intern was also very "touchy". I think it was a cultural thing, but she was not afraid to invade my personal space. In a work environment, if someone stood very close to you, you'd feel awkward. This girl had almost no concept. Once, she asked if I had any gum. I said yes, but it was in my pants pocket and I was doing something at the moment and I was going to get it for her when I finished. She didn't wait for me to finish, she just stuck her hands down my (front) pocket and fished for the pack of gum herself. You should have seen the look on my face. Another time, I had to defrost a small test tube of something and she said to give it to her. She stuck it down her cleavage. I had to ask her to give it back to me because there was no way I was going to reach for it myself, though I thought about how I could get away with it. She also told me of the time when she was pregnant with her daughter and how big her boobs got. She said her boobs grew so big, "they got somewhere a half hour before she did".

The head of my agency from before my time, around 20 years ago, used to go to the lingerie shows at one of the hotels in town and check out the models. If he liked them enough, he'd say "come by the office and I'll find you a job.

What makes the story worse is that he was half-blind to begin with and the shows were held in a dimmed room, so they looked very different when the lights were on.

The girl in that video is called FAL as in the FN FAL. Guy with the target rifle turns out to be the new teacher. Next day she is in his class and all he can think to call her is 'Belgium Assault Thong.' That is when I quit watching.

92 Do you know what Brazilian bikinis look like?

I'm guessing it is skimpy around the crotch given the origin of the term "Brazilian wax".

93 The latest trend is a cut dress but the entire back is a sheer lace panel, all the way to the waist, ot cut outs at the waist, or sheer lace "v" all the way to the waist in the front. Its ridiculous

*hauls out the step stool that someone ever so thoughtfully gave me* *clambers up on soapbox*

What the actual hell is wrong with people who are a. designing this shit and b. letting their kids wear it. Oh. Wait. Mommy is shopping in Forever 21 right next to her precious darling and looks just as utterly slutty.

I would have been beaten if I had ever gone out looking like that and Mommy found out and Mommy absolutely would have found out. Hell, I wouldn't have been comfortable wearing that stuff. When I'm at the mall and see Kids These Days, it's all I can do not to forcibly march those young girls into a store and buy them a sweater.

The thing that makes me truly sick is that if a teen girl tries to dress nicely but not like a slut, she and her family are mocked for being out of touch and prudes. Yeah, the girls who don't look like they're for sale are the ones in the wrong.

I feel for those of you with daughters growing up in this. I really do.

104 I often drive Little VIA to High School in the mornings.
And the route travels directly along the perimeter of a good size Maryland state University.
Many the time I am unable to tell if it's a female High School Junior walking to class, or a hung over College co-ed doing the slut walk back to the dorm after an all nighter. Neither the clothing, make up, walk, or physical development gives any insight into which one you are looking at.

He already made changes via Executive Order and people are hesitant to take advantage of them because they know that the next guy can reverse the EO.

He also doesn't have the votes to get anything through the House given that his strategy is "I won!", not "divide and conquer".

115 AP, oh that will happen. Daughter #2 is.....crazy. Run through a brick wall and not slow down while wearing her Disney Princess dress up clothes crazy. I may stick her in karate or tae kwon do or something as she gets older. The wife and I joke all the time that she'll be our enforcer to watch out for her older sister.

She already beats up her older sister. Smacks her around all the time. The wife and I finally lost it after the bajillionith time the eldest came to us complaining that lil sis hit her. "Hit her back!" "Uh...what Daddy?" "She hits you and messes with you because she knows you won't do anything. Hit. Her. Back." (The younger daughter is meanwhile watching and listening to all this WHILE SMILING.) Eldest timidly walks up to her and smacks her on the arm so lightly it wouldn't have killed a mosquito. Youngest looks at her arm, looks at her sister, laughs and then shoves her down.

Here's a couple of new (I think) ideas for you, regarding gun control.

(1) The theory behind "gun free zones" and the like is roughly the same as the theory behind the security measures afforded to Ambassador Stevens, andthe government's role inHIS death was essentially involuntary manslaughter.

(2) When discussing the role of mental health in the mass homicides, let's not forget the role of insanity. As in the insanity of trying the same thing over and over again, despite the fact that it never works.

You know, we could have a debate about the trade-off between public safetyvs. the right to bear arms, EXCEPT for the fact that there IS NO TRADE-OFF. All the empirical data shows that an armed citizenry stops this sort of thing dead in its tracks, when it doesn't discourage it from happening in the first place.

@115

If you really want to have your mind blown, consider that I actually had an extremely experienced, innovative, and (I think) actually liberal TEACHER say the same thing. Granted, it was in a sort of "don't blab this around that I said this", and an"in confidence" sort of thing, said with great trepidation that people might get excited about actuallysuggesting that a limited amount of violence is really the only effective way to deal with that sort of thing. After 35 years, she knew what really works, and there was only one answer.

The only way to stop that sort of bullying is to give at least a little bit back. They have to be shown that there's going to bea price for bothering you. No teacher or parent can be everywhere an an "enforcer".

In the same way, no cop can be everywhere to stop bad behavior, whether it's mass shootings or petty theft. The idea that you should just leave everything for the cops to take care of is just plain stupid.

What's funny - to me, if no one else - is that Jodie Foster was exactly who I had mentally cast to be Theda Bara in the movie adaptation of my book. One of the few modern Hollywood actresses who seems to remember that dressing nicely, keeping opinions to one's selfand being a lady went a great way towards making the Golden Age stars "stars" in the first place.

136 Was watching Sotamayore (sp) last night when I heard her talk about AA opening a door for her.
I didn't hear her mention that the door opening for her, was a door closing for someone else, more highly qualified, but not minority enough.

Some door openings in life do not come with a corresponding door closing.
But for example, Active Duty military advancements have a finite number of authorized openings.

I just want to be able to judge people by the content of their character, and qualifications. Nothing more, nothing less.
