1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Sunday, January 13, 2013. On this day in 1910 the first public radio broadcast took place. It was a live performance of the opera Cavalleria rusticana which was sent out over the airwaves from the Metropolitan Opera House in NYC.

So here we go

reveille; reveille (bangs trashcan with baton some more)

Heave out and trice up... Smoking lamp is lighted in all authorized smoking areas.

Drop your cocks and grab your socks... Move it ladies. AOS is being served...

2 As I have said over and over, the $1T coin is not legal.

Treasury Department spokesman Anthony Coley said the agency wouldn't mint one and the Federal Reserve would not accept the coin.

“Neither the Treasury Department nor the Federal Reserve believes that the law can or should be used to facilitate the production of platinum coins for the purpose of avoiding an increase in the debt limit,” Coley said.

However, the idiots have not ruled out the stupid 14th amendment scam which is equally illegal.

Interesting that for Gregory, there wasn't even a prosecution for violation of a clearly written law known to the offender.

If NRA's LaPierre had done exactly the same thing on the same show, there might not have been a prosecution either; however, there would have been a persecution for sure.

But my doc explained that simply having this vaccine will lessen and shorten the symptoms should you get any of the flu strains going around.

55 I saw the museum had that fuselage bit. Did not know the history of the plane. Biak huh? Island off New Guinea. At the end of the war USAAF parked 1,000 B-24s on that island along with P-39s. The B-24s had their backs broken by bulldozer. Tallichet Aviation recovered the a bunch of wrecks from there in the 1970s.

The P-39Q Snooks 2nd that was flown by William Shomo was among the planes recovered and restored for display. Shomo would later be awarded the Medal of Honor for getting in a dogfight over Mindoro on Jan 11, 1945. Him and his wingman tangled with with 12 Japanese fighters and 1 Betty while flying F-6D Mustangs. He killed 7 enemy aircraft in one engagement.

Posted by: ALL_IS_LOST

I think the economic stupidity of the thing was the "run it up the flag pole" mentality. The place I worked at was like that. The upper management would come up with all sorts of stupid ideas. People like me in the middle that would have to actually implement the stupid ideas would spend way to much time to show them the stupidity. WE were then accused of not being "team players" and would be chastised for our reluctance to embrace stupidity. Meanwhile any stupid ideas that were implemented failed miserably for the exact reasons we stated (usually because it had been tried before and failed miserably). Wait 3 months and more stupidity would come our way.

76 The P-39 is a classic example of the bureaucracy telling an innovative designer his idea is too advanced. USAAC thought they would not need high altitude fighters so removed the super-charger from the V-1710 and thus crippled the plane.

77 67 JJ Sefton,

Pretty much at that point the question becomes "why not secede?"

79 #74 sven, my daughter who is just catching on to how bad Obama has handled the economics thing (required charts and graphs and explaining, and she did end up voting for Romney) was just livid at the coin deal. Thought it was stupid, would make money worthless, embarrassing our government would even discuss it, etc.

And the cashiers at Kroger knew about it and were mocking it as well.

We need more issues like this that are easily seen as stupid and reckless by the low-info voters. A bunch of them now know that the administration is nutso.

84 79 Miss marple,

Each and every one of us have the power to point out his lack of clothes.

I did not want him reelected, but I'll settle for ineffective and hell that may be better anyway, had we won we'd be held to the Bush standard as it stands Giggles is held to the special needs standard and we can simply thwart him.

Attendance at the inaugural is down 50%, I DARE them to try to "change things" as much as they want.

The black middle class will turn on the donks.

lot less weight when the Constitution is simply "whatever Barry wants"
if Barry gets to play "do whatever the fuck I want" I do too.

Funny dat. When I bought my house in 1981 you had to pay 20% down unless you got a VA loan and the amount borrowed, including existing loans/money owed could not be more than 30% of your take home income.

Miss NY (from Brooklyn) edges out Miss SC from Laurens, SC for Miss America. In all likelihood it was the anti-gun statements that won it for her. That and the fact that the crowd favorite from SC was a bible thumper.

I saw the headline at yahoo. Knew without looking that the winner took the anti-gun stance. It's pathetic when evenbeauty pageants are political.

99 #84 sven, this will be the first Inaugural in my entire life that I will not watch. ( And I have watched all since Kennedy's Inauguration in 1960, which I saw from my 7th grade classroom.) I just cannot stand to see him up there with his arrogant smirk. Those of you who are braver are going to have to give me a play-by-play.

The only way I will tune in is if someone notifies me that it is turning into an epic fiasco. (And I mean an epic one. Beyonce (Beyonce!!) singing the national anthem doesn't reach that level.)

107 76 The P-39 is a classic example of the bureaucracy telling an innovative designer his idea is too advanced. USAAC thought they would not need high altitude fighters so removed the super-charger from the V-1710 and thus crippled the plane.
Posted by: Anna Puma (+SmuD) at January 13, 2013 08:55 AM (znavB)

It was a lethal tank-buster, perhaps on par with the legendary Russkie Il-2 Stormovik. I am not up on the politics of why the superchargers were deleted, but I know they were desperately needed for the P-38's and even the B-17's.

I always thought the the mid-engine design as well as the cockamamie automobile-style cockpit door were not great designs from a pilot-protection standpoint.

Whoa! Lots of teething troubles on the YFM-1A. Engines catching fire and suffocating the aerial gunners in each gun/engine pod.

Interesting pre-war concept of the "destroyer" type aircraft, which was thought to be able to beat off single-seaters. The Germans were the only ones to continue developing this (Me-110, 210, 410, FW-TA 154) despite the dominance of single-seaters.

The Airacuda does have a cool retro-futuristic vibe.

134 The black middle class will turn on the donks.

I'd like to believe that's true, but I don't. As a group (individuals excepted, of course), the black community is by far the most reflexively racist, and decades of misinformation, negative-behavior reinforcement and 24/7 race baiting by government officials, street hustlers posing as reverends, and the national media have only hardened it.

I honestly believe that the vast majority of black people voted for Obama because he looks black too. Content of his character a la Dr. King? Utterly irrelevant. Color of his skin? All that matters to the AA community and their army of freeloading cretins in government and the press.
