| AFC PlayoffsBaltimore at Denver. The altitude was hard on Obama, it'll be hard on the Ravens. Incidentally, some smart person pointed out that modern airliners are pressurized similarly to the altitude of Denver. Which explains a lot, Obama spending all that time in Air Force One. Anyway I'm picking Denver in this one.![]() Comments1

Sports have gotten so damn PC now, but "gender equality" can only go so far in the NFL. They can hire all the female commentators they want - because they'll never have female players. Although it's a shame that Janet Reno never tried to break the nfl gender barrier - the nation would have been better served if she had become a linebacker instead of AG. 248 I'm not sure no huddle works if Peyton stands there for 25 seconds changing plays.
Posted by: Adam Smith's Invisible Pimp Hand at January 12, 2013 05:01 PM (NzBQO) ***** Actually it works quite well. He is reading the defense, and also locking them into their stance. He uses that very much to his advantage, best in the league at it. Posted by: Seamus Muldoon at January 12, 2013 05:04 PM (1OZSU) 261

Try not eating any grains, especially wheat and corn. If you're anything like me your sinuses will get steadily worse for three days of that, then start improving tremendously. Also, a Waterpik machine pumping warm, salted water into your sinuses is the best thing ever. Tilt your head down over a sink so that the water goes deep into the sinuses. Most drugstores have an adaptor for Waterpik for just this purpose, as ear-nose-throat doctors started recommending it more than a decade ago. Well its official the Jackson, MS gun show is a bust. Line out the door extending past 100ft. Next door was a bridal show. Hope people did not get the two confused, one will require you to surrender your weapons you know. Even driving in could spot the gun show newbies, sign with arrow said 'Gun Show' so that is where they pulled in while forgetting, as they roamed that little area, there was a giant parking lot just a bit further.
So endure the line and I swear I had Pvt. Pyle behind me. All he could talk about was Basic and being issued an M-14 if he was not talking Fox News and abortion. Was very tempted to turn to him and yell "Private Pyle what is your malfunction!" but I resisted and just shuffled through paying my $7 fee and escaping inside. Or so I thought. That floor space was packed and then packed some more with people, weapons, bags, and baby strollers. I felt like I was threading through some dangerous jungle path except here the weapons were unloaded, just had to avoid someone spearing me with their slung rifle. AR-15 prices were of an interesting range. These are all basic model prices I am quoting. None with scopes. I saw prices range from a low of $995 going all the way up to a staggering $3,000. Most were in the $1,400 range. One dealer had a sporterized 1917 Enfield in 30'06 with scope for $475. Another dealer had an Italian 6.5 rifle but the folding bayonet was missing, also had a chromed Arisaka without Chrysanthemum. Only one table area was really dealing ammo. When I was there just before 1pm, he was well nigh picked clean. Some boxes of .45 and shotgun shells were left. He said in the first two hours he was cleaned out and had to go back to warehouse. Another table had some ammo but the brands I had never heard of. 9mm 115gr FMJ by Berry - 1,000rds for $100. Who is Berry? I passed. I spent $7 to get in and then spent nothing inside. And after 30 minutes I was done and left. Posted by: Anna Puma (+SmuD) at January 12, 2013 05:13 PM (hvqfu) 293

Heather, there was no way the Colts could keep him what with salaries and caps. The only way he could have stayed would have been if he retired and took a coaching position, and I think he still wanted to play.
Plus he only has another 5-7 years left at best, and the Colts had to look to the future. I wish him well. He had to move on. It reminds us that first and foremost, football is a business. Posted by: Miss Marple at January 12, 2013 05:55 PM (GoIUi) 381
Yeah, I'd say the Colts cutting Manning has worked out well for both the Colts and the Broncos. Which makes me happy, what with being an Indiana-to-Colorado transplant myself. I'm glad to see both teams doing so well!

Cheri, we are the capital city of the Stealth State. Everyone forgets about us, which is just fine by me.
Indy is a really nice place if you want to buy a house, raise a family, or have a pleasant life. It's not full of stuff like Chicago, but there is enough to do here and besides, if you get bored you can drive to Cincinnati, Chicago, St. Louis, or Louisville. And we have The Race. Our downtown is nice and you can walk around without getting shot. Posted by: Miss Marple at January 12, 2013 06:24 PM (GoIUi) 408

#413 It was a Republican mayor, Bill Hudnut, who got the downtown spritzed up. Back in the 1970's you could walk through downtown after 6PM and not see anyone but bums and thugs. And trash.
He had the idea of bringing amateur sports in. We ended up hosting the Pan Am games on a shoestring after the Cubans reneged, and then he got the NCAA to relocate. His final flourish was getting the Colts to relocate. Most of the downtown business is built on sports and conventions. Our advantage (which we used for hosting the Superbowl) is unlike many cities, you don't have to drive to the stadium from your hotel. Everything is centrally located, which also helps for conventions. When this first started, I thought it was a silly idea. Hudnut was smart, and it has completely rejuvenated our downtown. Sports media types always favor east coast teams first, then west coast teams second. Flyover country teams are always looked down on, until one creates a historic event, and then those sports media guys act like they've always loved that team for a little while. Dan Dingeldorf is no exception to that rule; he just goes with the flow.
