Governor Cuomo Takes No Action to Permit Fracking, Despite Study Finding the Process is Safe

As Just One Minute says, he's waiting for someone to put together a study claiming the process isn't safe, so he can appease his strident left-wing supporters.

And there's no rhyme or reason to which science they accept, other than their groupthink-derived policy preferences. They'll be sure that a model of temperature 100 years out is as accurate as the atomic clock, but a study of a more limited scale on a narrower topic like fracking is treated as if there were so much uncertainty about the result that no action should be taken "just in case" the study is wrong.

49 If you boil down all the Left's proposals and solutions to problems, it always seems to come doen to "let's uninvent technology."

On energy, it seems that as is the case here, creating cleaner cheaper energy is off the table, and what really is desired is a return to non-fossil fuels. This of course is a pipe dream as we cannot even get close to sustaining ourselves on renewables, thus the hostility to modernity.

Look at guns too. Conservatives accept that guns will never disappear and any efforts to restrict will result in only the people you don't want to have guns having them. Here too the liberal mindset is such that the genie can be put back in the bottle so that we can all sing Kumbya in front of a solar powered facsimile of a fire. This of course has been thier go to for solutions since at least the nuclear age (if only we got rid of all our nukes...)

Here's my utter WAG at BoA's response: Contrary to many media reports, there has been no freeze to any BoA customer account. The accounts in question are merely under review. This is necessary, indeed required, to be sure that no illegal activity is taking place. No outside entity has taken the funds and the funds remain fully accounted for within the BoA system. As this is an administrative action only, there is no need for any type of court order or notice. We apologize for any inconvenience. Rest assured, BoA is doing everything it can to work with its customers to guarantee that all appropriate regulations and procedures are met.

144 A good compare and contrast is available in this case. When you look at the "Leaded Gas = Crime Spree of the Latter 20th Century"
vs
"We can't find anything unsafe about fraking"

In the first case:
You had our side saying, "The conclusion is stretched given the limitations of the data" "The current subject of study is not a pressing concern since we've already answerwed the question of 'Is lead bad for you?' and stopped using leaded gasoline" "Existential factors were not considered to even exist when evaluating the data": you know, actually tackling the scientific content of the study, the limitations of the data, and the overreach of the conclusion and as a result of those items suggesting the study was whoring for grant dollars to pin a politically inconvenient event on a politically convenient foil.

In the second case you get:
Shut up! That's why.

He also described the hospitality that he received in Iran, stating that "I’m a Jew and have seldom been treated with such consistent warmth as in Iran."[18] In his trip, he paid an Iranian agency $150 a day for the services of a translator, who filed a report on Cohen’s doings with the Iranian government.[19]

Thanks Governor, the lack ofproduction in NY will help support gas prices. I have one safe well producingnow, and another is planned by Chesapeake when it looks profitable for C to drill. I also have another lease with C where they can drill two more when profitable.

Carbon emissions peaked in the USA in 2006. Since then emissions are down 12% due to gas production mostly from fracked wells. Fracking is improving our air quality and not harming our water quality. The EPA has dropped 3 lawsuits over fracking due to lack of evidence of any harm to water supplies.

I was trying to find where I read that.
It came out months ago...the revelation of 'who' had funded "Promised Land"...but I don't remember where I read it.

We should be shouting this from the rooftops, though.
That OPEC members do not want us develop our Natural Gas capabilities...which is a clean-burning energy source that could replace oil.

That horrible anti-fracking documentary...'Gasland'...was probably funded by them too.

Devonian structures are the "low hanging fruit" of oil/gas exploration. In some parts of the world you gotta go down 1500' or more to find them. Around Albany, they're close to the surface due to millions of years of erosion in the "old" Catskill mountains.

A couple days ago I bored the hell out of the 'morning crew' with the math involved of the BTU (heat) output of incandescent bulbs. They're really not such a bad deal for warming a room -- in my case better then #2 heating oil by a factor of two. But it's kinda late to register my protest to 'my betters' because the last incandescent bulb (in the country of Tom Edison) stopped being manufactured here a couple years ago.

But food $tamps are a better deal for the effected no-longer-employed individuals.
