Legally Owned Gun Saves Family

A very aggressive home invader, who seemed to be going out of his way to find a woman and her children inside her house, got shot five times.

He actually lived -- so the gun avoided a tragedy and didn't even kill the criminal.

These stories only get a little local coverage, because the media doesn't want there to be any narrative on guns competing with their own.

The media likes easy questions and fast government-centered solutions -- and questions are easier when there is absolutely no competing case. If the media can convince the public that there is absolutely no upside to lawful gun ownership, it makes it that much easier to impose a prohibition.

33 San Antonio Theater Shooting

by Hardnox on December 28, 2012

On Sunday December 17, 2012, 2 days after the
CT shooting, a man went to a restaurant in San Antonio to kill his X-girlfriend.
After he shot her, most of the people in the restaurant fled next door to a
theater. The gunman followed them and entered the theater so he could shoot more
people. He started shooting and people in the theater started running and
screaming. It's like the Aurora, CO theater story plus a restaurant!

Now aren't you wondering why this isn't a
lead story in the national media along with the school shooting?

There was an off duty county deputy at the
theater. SHE pulled out her gun and shot the man 4 times before he had a chance
to kill anyone. So since this story makes the point that the best thing to stop
a bad person with a gun is a good person with a gun, the media is treating it
like it never happened.

Only the local media covered it. The city is
giving her a medal next week. Just thought you'd like to know.

91 Couple years ago in Pearl, MS had two perps try to rob a gold and silver store. The male perps were dressed in women's clothing and wigs, even had bras and panties on. The store worker opened fire. Dropped one dead and the other got carted off to ICU with head trauma. The kicker being, both robbers were illegal aliens from Central America.

I should find out what happened to the illegal avocado but don't really care.

"After he shot me, I looked him straight in the eye," said Leone. "He says, 'Don't kill me. Don't kill me... I've got a daughter!' I said, 'f- you ... pow, pow, pow, pow!'"

The ordeal wasn't over. Three of those shots hit their mark, but still the gunman rushed Leone and tried to shoot the 90-year-old with his own weapon.

"Sure enough, he wrestled me to the floor, put the gun to my head, pulled the trigger, and it went, 'click,'" Leone said. "And then he got all panicky. He ran out the door."

Cutrufelli called police claiming he had shot himself. They took him to a hostpial for treatment, but also arrested him on suspicion of burglary and attempted murder.

Now, he's suing the 90-year-old man he allegedly tried to kill.

108 Insty keeps beating the drum that anyone who goes hunting up the stairs and to the attic was not there to rob the place.

Considering he had the chutzpa to crowbar his way into the house in the middle of the day without any apparent fear of being seen and reported to the police by a neighbor tells me that his brain was wired wrong. You don't break into a house and climb up the stairs into the attic in taht situation. You grab whatever's on the ground floor that looks expensive, chuck it in your car, and then beat feet before the sirens arrive. If you want to burgle the whole house you wait until nightfall and break in while everyone's sleeping, or wait until a night when everyone's out at a family dinner, holiday get together, etc, and the house is empty.

This guy was not there just to do a smash and grab.

Since all people are wired this way, the best (albeit imperfect) defense is to teach people to identify emotionally with the narrative of KNOWING WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON. That way, the emotional circuits encourage you to stop and figure things out when your expectations are confounded.

But of course we can't have that, since people who think things through tend not to make good peasants.

That's the part I really didn't appreciate until I read an FBI report basically mocking the TV- and movie-created myths of bullet effects: how many eventually-lethal wounds still leave the bad guy very dangerous for a good half-minute.

Good point earlier about warning shots.

This is why you're seeing more and more states adopt a simplier position to Castle Law.In the new Missouri law for example it doesn't have to be life threatening, just "reasonably
believes to be the use or imminent use of unlawful force by such other
person [the criminal]" (For force in general)For Deadly force you just need to be protecting yourself against a "forcible felony" or "Such force is used against a person who unlawfully enters,
remains after unlawfully entering, or attempts to unlawfully enter a
dwelling, residence, or vehicle lawfully occupied by such person" (So yeah just trying to break in the door in this state is enough to allow shooting.)
@Posted by: MrCaniac at January 07, 2013 01:47 PM (Zd/NW)

Ahhh, okay, I misunderstood. I was thinking vital as in well nearly always kill you dead if shot in them vs. will stop you dead in your tracks instantly. The only sure thing I know that does that is a head shot and, God please forbid that I'm ever in that situation, I'm sticking with training and shooting center mass instead of going for the head.

Randomly, one of the things I liked about Patriot Games (the book) is that there's a discussion about what it takes to recover from getting shot in the shoulder and how it's not something you can just get up and run around town solving murders after having it occur to you.

When I think of the .22, I think of a monologue from My Blue Heaven.

Specifically, the monologue was about how the .22 was the assassination weapon of choice for the mob because the bullet would rattle around in the victim like Pac-Man and do a lot of damage, as opposed to blowing someone's head off with a .44 and ending up with a lot of dry-cleaning.

The end result from there was a suspension of a week for the meathead jock, who ended up withdrawing from the school. When he tried enrolling elsewhere, the father called the school to let them know why, exactly, he was changing schools in mid-semester.

245 MWR, well there is a bit of difference between an arrow and a bullet. An arrow is something who's head is planted in the body but you got this shaft sticking out of you. Depending upon where the arrow hits it could be in a joint or meaty area but the shaft well its this big old encumbrance interfering with movement. And you date not yank the arrow out least your blood loss turns into a gusher.

Unless a bullet drops you instantly or blows up a joint, well its just these tiny bits of metal on the inside slowing sapping you of your life.

As he opened his door, his dog immediately started barking in the direction of our apartment door up the stairs. He saw 2 guys about 20 years old standing just to the side of our apartment door. Before he could do anything, and as his dog kept barking, these guys quickly took off, with no time for my neighbor to ask what they were doing there. (I’m glad he didn’t try to talk to them .) His dog barked and tried to get off the leash to go after them ! But the guys dissapeared.

262 Specifically, the monologue was about how the .22 was the assassination weapon of choice for the mob because the bullet would rattle around in the victim like Pac-Man and do a lot of damage, as opposed to blowing someone's head off with a .44 and ending up with a lot of dry-cleaning.

True. I should ahve been more specific. When I say that the same is probably true for a bullet what i meant was that getting shot is going to impede your ability to fight effectively. The exact amount of that impediment is going to be dependent on the location of the shot, the caliber of the bullet, and the distance from which you've been shot.

But that was just too long and garbled so I went for short and sweet. Because I tend to babble.

280 A .22 for killing?

Kenny Vaughan laughs at your teeny round and poor shot placement.

As Mr. Vaughan pulled into his driveway one evening, he said, a man in a van pulled in behind him and hopped out with a rifle in his hand. Mr. Vaughan recognized the man as a former neighbor. As Mr. Vaughan dashed for the side of his house, he was struck in the side of his right leg and fell to the ground.

Then, from about five feet away, the man fired shot after shot as Mr. Vaughan crept on his side, trying in vain to crawl under his minivan, to somehow find a reprieve from the indescribable sting he felt with each bullet that tore into his body.

“You’re thinking clearer than you ever thought in your life,” Mr. Vaughan said during a recent interview. “I don’t know if it’s the adrenaline or just the will to live. You want to live more than anything in the world, and you know you have no control. I asked the Lord not to hit me in my heart and head.”

When the gunman stopped to reload, Mr. Vaughan said, he pulled himself to his feet and onto the hood of his minivan. But the man knocked him on his back with a shot to the abdomen, again from about five feet away, and continued shooting.

The final shot, Mr. Vaughan said, entered his groin area and exited through his rectum, leaving him lying in a pool of blood and feces. He never lost consciousness.

Weren't there two mass shootings stopped by armed bystanders in the weeks around the Connecticut school shooting? The Clackamas Portland Mall shooting was one. The other, I believe, was in Texas where an off duty deputy stopped the shooting before it got very far.

Lefties don't count those, though, because the shooter only shot a couple or three people before being stopped. It doesn't count as amass shooting, even though the shooters had hundreds of rounds on them.

About a year ago, my next door neighbor was enjoying a normal Sunday dinner with his wife and teenage son when #random crazy black dude beat in his front door with a sledge and then began muttering incoherently, waving the hammer.

The teenage son raced upstairs to his room and returned with a 12 gauge and pointed it at the intruder who took it as a clue and wandered back out the shattered door. The cops, to their credit, arrived en masse only seconds later, proned the perp out at multiple shotgun point, and cuffed him in front of my house. I didn't know anything was happening until the cops showed up. Turns out tha guy lives in the other end of the subdivision.

Since then, all the door jambs have been uparmored and I'm rarely without less than a .380 in pocket. It can happen anytime, anywhere.

As I said. You think you know, but you don't.

Have you ever been sued? If the answer is NO, then you do not know. It does not matter what the law is, you can still be sued, then you wait for the judge to decide. As you wait for the judge to decide, your lawyer bills you for each and every little thing. The letter he sends to the other lawyer, billed. The copies of everything he sends to you, billed. The plaintiff's lawyer just wants to swamp you and your attorney with paperwork so that your insurance company will settle. It is not about the "Law", it is about who is willing to grind it out more. Are you or your insurance company willing to drop $50K in legal fees in the hopes that you prevail in front of a jury? Or will your insurance company decide to settle for $35K in order to get rid of it?
Remember, judges are the final arbirters of the law, not the police, especially in a CIVIL case. The police "filing charges" is very different than the "victim's" family suing the shooter for some bullshit reason. Oklahoma may have the "Castle Doctrine" that gives you immunity, there are all kinds of loopholes in those laws and ambulance chasers and Dem judges know their ways around them.

An Atlanta

through it. The alleged burglar, Paul Ali Slater, eventually found the
family’s hiding space, but not before finding himself staring down the
barrel of a .38 revolver. The woman fired six shots, five of which hit

316 What is a liberals plan to protect their wife and children?

They are at work, and a man breaks into the home to find the wife and kids alone. Or they are home, whatever.

Is the liberal family man's plan just to HOPE that somehow the wife can call the cops before getting tackled, and then HOPING that the cops show up in time before the family is raped and killed? What if the intruder has a weapon?

This aint the movies. In real life, karate kicks don't stop fucking bullets!

HOPE IS NOT A PLAN TO PROTECT YOUR FAMILY!

This shit is fucking common sense!

317 She probably shot him with cop-killer bullets, the racist bitch.

He wasn't a cop. That's the only reason he survived.

Oh heck yes.

319 The liberals are saying that the criminal rang the bell and had the woman answered the whole incident would not have occurred.
-
That's true in a sense. There would have been no story, because the national media would have refused to report what happened next.

Not that they're eager to discuss this story.

But if you reversed the races, that would have been the criminal story of the century.

320 As the Supreme Court hears arguments for and against the Chicago, IL, Gun Ban, I offer you another stellar example of a letter (written by a Marine), that places the proper perspective on what a gun means to a civilized society.
Interesting take and one you don't hear much... Read this eloquent and profound letter and pay close attention to the last paragraph of the letter.....
"The Gun Is Civilization"

By Maj. L. Caudill USMC (Ret)

Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force . If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that's it .

In a truly moral and civilized society , people exclusively interact through persuasion . Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may
sound to some.

When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force .

The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.

There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad force equations. These are the people who think that we'd be more civilized if all guns were removed from society, because a firearm makes it easier for a [armed] mugger to do his job. That, of course, is only true if the mugger's potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative fiat - it has no validity when most of a mugger's potential marks are armed.

People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and that's the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly .

Then there's the argument that the gun makes confrontations lethal that otherwise would only result in injury. This argument is fallacious in several ways. Without guns involved, confrontations are won by the physically superior party inflicting overwhelming injury on the loser.

People who think that fists, bats, sticks, or stones don't constitute lethal force, watch too much TV , where people take beatings and come out of it with a bloody lip at worst. The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier, works solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker. If both are armed, the field is level.

The gun is the only weapon that's as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian as it is in the hands of a weight lifter. It simply would not work as well as a force equalizer if it wasn't both lethal and easily employable.

When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I'm looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded . I don't carry it because I'm afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn't limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force. It removes force from the equation... And that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act !!

By Maj. L. Caudill USMC (Ret.)

So the greatest civilization is one where all citizens are equally armed and can only be persuaded, never forced !!

This is worth printing and sharing with others.......right?
Remember freedom is not free.

321 What really bothers me is that this guy wasn't there to rob the place. He came there to have some fun with with helpless victims. If she had shot him, she and her children would be dead now.

stories only get a little local coverage, because the media doesn't
