Occupy Terrorist Says His Cache of Explosives Material Were Only for "Experimental Fireworks"

From @benk84's link dump: the guy has a history of getting off very lightly for possession of heroin and stabbing a bartender. Because his dad is rich.

The media isn't covering this-- and let me note, the media isn't covering this, despite Newtown.

We learn in nearly every spasm of violence that the perpetrator was a Strange Young Man who had a record of antisocial behavior and an unsettling interest in instruments of death.

And yet, here we have a guy who previously served a year in jail for stabbing a bartender, discovered with a cache of explosives -- and the media, even post-Newtown, won't give this story any play, simply because it would reflect poorly on Occupy.

If the media is really as interested in stopping mass violence as it pretends -- rather than simply agitating for culture wars -- shouldn't they take an interest in Strange Young Men whose minds seem to fixate on weaponry and imagined enemies?

I put this:"Why does the Brady Campaign feel this ad is offensive? Is the Campaign therefore for a potential rape victim to own a weapon and shoot thier attacker? Does the Brady Campaign then believe that potential rape victims should be armed? If so, how would a potential rape victim know ahead of time, unless they were always armed?"

16 IMNSHO they're not covering it partly because otherwise people will start making the connection between the various 'drug-fueled fantasy worlds' the perps live in and their crimes.

For instance, Loughner and Salvia, or Andrea Yeates and the antidepressants she was prescribed (obstensibly for treating schizophrenia, which is generally contraindicated), and that guy in Colorado who was a biochem grad student with access to labs where he could have been synthesizing who-knows-what... We'd probably know what the Newtown shooter was on _if_ there weren't, inexplicably, a gag order in the case despite the shooter being dead as well as the lawful owner of the firearms also being dead (his mother, who was one of his first victims).

No, there was a puzzle of a windmill left unfinished on one of the tables. Fortunately, our shooter was an avid lover of puzzlers and an obsessive compulsive. The police arrived in time before he put the last piece in place and arrested him. WHEW.

... so you want Hadji to give up the comedy in order to be the high ranking leader of Al Qaeda? What - are you soft of mind? Hadji buys his bananas while they are green.. what?

That is Hadji's voice. This microphone? It is on?

Yes? And so..

In Islamabad we have a word for Experimental Fireworks and the places where they are experimented upon ...

it is called preschool.

But in Arabic. Which you do not speak - because you are Americans.

The process in our lands for becoming a master of the explosives is simple. Much more simple than the system you have in America.

In our land we take 100 children and put them in a room with the fertilizer and petrol and supplies like wire and batteries and pipe ... and you lock the door.

Five years later, you come back and see who is left.

That is how you find the skill.

But, Hadji is here for the comedy, not for the Garrison Keillor type of avuncularness.

So, Hadji makes with a ha-ha:

What is the distinction between an experimental firework and an IED?

With one you go Ahhhhhh
the other your go Ohshit!Ohshit!Ohshit!

Thank you thank you thank you!

Mecca is towards the door. It would not hurt you to face there five times per day.

Tip the waitresses.

135 This is part of the embargo of the truth by the media. But eventually they can only plug so many holes before the truth leaks into the body politic. I am reminded of a Old Testament story where there was a siege of Jerusalem.

And overnight this huge army left because of some rumor but the starving people did not know the army had left. Finally the people found out and some bureaucrat (attendant to the King) stood in the gate trying to organize people going out to get some left behind food.

Well that idiot was trampled to death in the gate. Same thing is finally going to happen here in America. People are starved for the truth and eventually it is going to come out and the MSM standing in the gate will be trampled.

Keep posting the truth ACE, it may seem you are pissing into a hurricane, but truth has its own acid like quality and will eat through any container devised by man, just ask the former Soviet Union.

The weapons are described as scarily as possible but similar ones could be found in my friend's homes in semi-rural Canada years ago. (except for the expensive shotgun maybe)

I'll bet there are many law abiding Americans with similar guns..

The "bomb components" I think consisted of a few grams of white powder that could probably only be used as a trigger. (I'm no bomb expert)

The demo YouTube explosion was far less scary than what we did as kids using home-made gunpowder.

Posted by: Vic at January 03, 2013 04:44 PM (53z96)

?

HMDT is an obsolete high explosive. Gunpowder is a low explosive, as in low-velocity. In fact, the biggest developments in gunpowder have been to get it to burn *slower*, not faster.

I don't have all the figures memorized, but it's kind of apples-and-oranges anyway. HMDT was used as a primary explosive. It was planned for detonators but wasn't stable enough, AFAIK.

The speed of unconfined gunpowder is very, very low. It burns, it doesn't explode.

The shoe-bomber used PETN and TATP.

On youtube are vids on how to make explosives. The chemicals used are innocuous.

My high-school AP Chem class taught me everything I need to know to make wicked crap (one of the reasons I took it). I made Nitroglycerine.

240 Just like yelling fire in a crowded theater isn't protected under the 1st Amendment free speech rights, lawsuits against the MFM have to be brought for intentional, agenda driven, fallacious reporting, repeatedly, and in a harassing an costly manner until something sticks.

This is how the leftists do it.

Cripple the MFM with lawsuits over anything that can be construed as less than 100% totally factually unbiased.

Precedent setting cases aren't necessary initially, just some harassing legal fire to make the propagandists gun shy, if you will .

In cases of willful omission like this one, similar tactics can be developed. Mis-directional tips that cause them to cover the story before they are able to determine that the facts are contrary to their aims can lock them into coverages that can be flipped on them We can't just continue to allow the MFM free reign at no cost to them.

Heritage or some media watchdogs need to work this out with focus groups and brainstorming sessions.

241 You can still buy Ammonium Nitrate without needing ID, permit or a background check. Number 2 Fuel Oil can't really be banned. And you can substitute with other petrol products such as Diesel.

Fairly sure TATP can be used to detonate ANFO.

Posted by: RWC at January 03, 2013 05:11 PM (fWAjv)

Well, in California you can use it to set off your arrest.

Basically tannerite is the sort of thing that is set off by a high-shock event, not something you use to set off another thing. I suppose you could come up with a scenario where that would work, but it's not a detonator per se.

Something I pointed out to my friends last night was that while the 'young' man in question is undoubtedly the instigator in the guns and explosives aspects of the case (and not just because he has a dick... based on his reported history and the commentary of his friends!), the focus of every article is pretty much entirely on his pretty, pregnant 'young' girlfriend and her entirely innocent parents.
I also noticed that despite this they also downplayed her college education, which seems comparable to her boyfriends.

These days I treat news articles much like I treat crossword puzzles. Its a chance to train my brain by looking at incomplete information and trying to figure out what they actually are going on about.
I ken haz brainz?
