| Buzz: Boehner to Resign? There's a 5pm leadership meeting to discuss the intention of Counter-Buzz: I just checked Hot Air -- someone from Boehner's office says he's not stepping down, and that that story is just made up. If I had to reconcile the two, and find a way they both could be a little bit true, I'd guess that Boehner still wants to argue for the job, and doesn't want to undermine himself by declaring it a fait accompli. But that he has discussed stepping down as his own personal Plan B. I don't know that. Just speculatin'. Comments1
Buh-bye weepy.

Although, it will be nice to see a TruCon get in power, just so the usual suspects will finally shut the fuck up about how those nasty centrists are engaging in a conspiracy against the red-state House members, and finally accept responsibility that our country is full of shitwits, we are ruled by shitwits, and the best one can possibly aspire to be is King of the Shitwits. It’ll be all party hats and flowers until someone else steps up, takes the job and then realizes that while they may negotiate differently, the outcomes will still be relatively the same. I don’t like Boehner because he is a terrible negotiator and his PR skills are horrible. But the man has moved many bills through the House on a majority basis. We need someone to improve the optics and clearly articulate the GOP message at this point. It needs to be someone who can not only cobble together votes but vastly improve the communication. >>>Anyone smart enough to become Speaker of the House is smart enough to
know that the Speaker represents his or her party on the national level. If they fail, the party fails. The media figured that out in 1995 and have used that playbook ever since. and do you know what happens when a Speaker "falls on his sword?" He/she gets replaced. And then same shit, different day. OK so now we've gone from. "The speaker CAN'T do it" to "anyone elected WON'T do it" which is a quite different argument than originally made. I argue there are some that would. You may be correct in that they would never get elected. In the above example I tend to think Bachmann would cowboy up. I think she would either shape it up or burn it down and smile the whole way while doing it. Not that I think she is teh greatest. I just think she isn't risk averse when tackling her core issues. Boehner seems like a decent human, tries hard, and maybe has some noble intentions. He sure has a hard time getting the ball over the goal line. Is he to light for the job? He can't rally the troops, can't articulate the cause, and can't get that ball over the line. I'm certain he will do the right thing and wipe away the tears, take his seat, and be supportive of the new leadership.

No matter what happens with the Speaker, we have to tell the GOP to stop the bashing from within. It only feeds the media and makes us more pissed off!
Do the dems ever publicly take their problems out in the public? No, they keep them inside the party. Christie bashed Boehner today, so did King for the same thing, a larded up bill for Sandy victims. They will have a clean one in a few days. It's been over two months. Does anyone think all the money can be magically distributed and fix every bit of damage in NY & NJ in a day? Yes, the same fools that thought TFG was a messiah might believe it. Whatever you say, but it isn't the media tearing down republican women. It's a limited number of people like you, from within the movement. As I said, Collins, Murkowski and Snowe all get a fair shake from what you would call the mainstream media, but are regularly excoriated in venues like this one. Know who got 100% of the credit for those things? Hint: It wasn't a member of the party who lost House seats in the '98 mid-term election, and lost both House and Senate seats in 2000. Posted by: Hollowpoint at January 02, 2013 06:08 PM (SY2Kh) 408

Quoting WalrusRex: "Hey! I accidentally double posted. What do I win?"
Actually, the technical definition of a double post is where one posts the IDENTICAL post twice. Your posts are different. Example, your first one begins with "Mo, no. We need a black, gay, Muslim..." and your second begins with "No, no. We need a black, gay, Muslim...", so no prize of 1 year free subscription to ace.mu.nu for you. Sorry! I've said many times that we need an asshole in power to counter the dems. Newt would be perfect.

Agreed, but we need the tough, mean guy a-hole rather than Newty, the sleazy, compromising, smarmy kind. There's at least 537 of the latter already in Washington DC. Posted by: Mr_Write at January 02, 2013 06:22 PM (CLkAH) 417

378 334 Ryan is all talk...
I've heard his reasoning for voting for some of those bills and there are others that it sounds like he'd no longer support. Moreover, his voting record has improved and he's helped move the House Rs rightward on certain issues (e.g., Medicare reform). Also, voting against the deal without hesitating would've been the better long-term career move, so it's difficult to label him a political opportunist. I haven't always agreed with him and he's made some controversial decisions but he doesn't make those decisions lightly. That could always change, though. McCain, Romney and Boehner have proven if you let the demorats run your Presidential campaign/politics for their opposition party, the demorats will win easily every time.
How about Republicans try representing the people that put them in office, ya know, just for a change ! Being a Reagan was a slam dunk win, let's go back to winning politics the demorats couldn't prevail against. Let's give winning a chance AGAIN ! 427 How about Republicans try representing the people that put them in office, ya know, just for a change !
- That's a great idea. With the exception of Ronald Reagan, conservative and Republican politicians usually refuse to do that, even when it's the likeliest way to win. An important reason for that is that the credentialed culture-forming elite, including academia and Hollywood, has been smearing crap on conservative Christian straight white males continually for half a century and more. The result is that in the opinion of the best people, the "aristocracy" of all white countries, the white masses stink. They are considered mean, bigoted, stupid, hostile, gun-crazy and so on. Standing up for people like that is unacceptable. If you are white, as many of the top people still are, it raises the suspicion that you in your heart are one of "them". What you want to be is like Bill Clinton, "the first Black President," gloating that America will soon be majority non-white. (The cultural elite don't seem to consider men like Bill Clinton "white" in any meaningful sense. I agree with that.) That "spiritual non-whiteness" has its appeal for elite Republicans too. A semi-Hispanic identity often seems to be the way to go. For liberals, this is great. For conservatives, it means that the voters usually get betrayed by the politicians, because conservative voters are the kind of people that Hollywood and academia smear and make stinky in the nostrils of important people like politicians, with the result that conservative politicians consistently go along with policies that harm and demographically destroy white conservative voting blocks, policies like mass immigration, affirmative action, quotas, set-asides, "disparate impact" law, and so on. Breitbart advocated trying to engage with popular culture with the idea of making conservatives and their ideas "cool" again. Ace is trying to act on that. I agree this is the way to go.
