Bypass the GOP. Vote West in 2016. Tell them now it's what you're gonna do.

Form the 3rd party AFTER he's elected.

Don't dilute it by declaring some stupid "ticket."

It's not "West/Somebody 2016!" Just tell the stupid GOP we're voting West.

Screw
all the usual Political Calculations. I love ya 'Zo, but it's not
identity politics we're involved in anymore: it's war. We're on a war
footing now, thanks to the all-and-every day Stalinism coming from the
Dem/Media Complex. So we need to do something based on a wartime
calculus.

When the news comes out about Rubio going to Iowa, tell them we're voting West.

When they float another Pawlenty bid, tell them we're voting West.

If they ask for money for the GOP, tell them we're voting West.

If they want to get on board, fine. Otherwise, ignore them. Focus on the state elections and vote West.

And yeah, eat less carbs. Unless you're carb backloading.

I resolve to applaud Boehner and McConnell for this work.

I'll say this slow, and no Mr. Moo Moo, just because has a fucking different opinion does not mean they are a troll, i would suggest you look at my posting histories.

BUT SWEET FUCK WAKE THE FUCK UP PEOPLE.

All tax rates were going up on the American people regardless, if nothing was done. Obama won. That limits our options. I think lower rates spurs economic development. But obama won and democrats hold the Senate.

So you geniuses would have had the GOP do what? What I ask?

And then when we get slaughtered again come election time, and they pass confiscatory gun laws and a bunch of crazy other shit that really matters to our freedoms, rather than the tax rate of the very rich (the very fucking richpeople that support Obama by a majority), you can sit there and hold the hands.

PLAY THE FUCKING GAME OF POLITICS HERE OR YOU FUCKING DIE.

The public wants some tax increases on the rich and they want spending cuts.

This sets up so soperfectly. GOP is against tax increases (but Romney wanted to cut loopholes so how is this not a tax increase - oh I know, the rates wouldn't rise, but didn'tRomney say the rich were going to have to pay more, hmmmmm??) But yet when Romney does it I guess it's not class warfare.

So back to reality. GOP doesn't want tax increases, period. Everyone under the sun knows that. But all taxes are going up if nothing is done. SoGOP agreesto a compromise in which any family making $450k and under are not going up.

So pretty much all of the very well off (again, a significant group of which are the fucks that support obama) are going to pay some more $$ in taxes. We don't support it, but we are willing to compromise to stop the vast majority of tax increases.

But dems also let the payroll tax holiday expire. So, this is the dems idea and the dems support it and it is going to hit everyone directly in their paycheck. That is going to be a BIG FUCKING DEAL.

So, scoamf gets his tax increases, most will understand that. NOw we have 3 weapons against out of control spending:

1) debt ceiling;
2) sequestration (which Obama said flat out will not happen at the debates); and
3) incremental spending (they did this once before but since there is no budget they could require up or down votes every week or some shite like that, makes it maddeningly slow in government but who cares, give them something to do and keep spending in check).

In other words, demorats get the tax raises they wanted. Now everyone wants spending cuts. We, who hold only one level of the congress and do not have the executive, are in a tremendous position of power to force the spending cuts we really think will work.

It's a politically popular position to cut spending and everyone with half a brain knows it needs to be done. And if obama tries again to get more taxes, after just fucking everyone, again, good luck with that as your position.

And most Republicans will be able to vote against this since it is clearly going through with major Demorat support in both houses... So GOP members can claim they voted against this POS.

THIS IS BRILLIANT, AND GIVEN OUR INFERIOR POSITION AND THE FUCKSTICK MEDIA, THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST RESULT I COULD HAVE HOPED FOR.

Slash discretionary spending to near zero.

And let the merchants and restauranteurs who will no longer receive my business know precisely why it is that they are not receiving it.

One of the greatest inventions ever is printable business card stock in 8.5x11 sheets. Can't recall off the top of my head how many cards per sheet. Eight? Ten? However many it is, these are fantastic for low production runs of custom cards.

My new versions say, in small but readable type:

"Dear Proprietor: our family have been regular, happy patrons of your business up until now. We had hoped to continue to be customers of yours, to both your and our mutual benefit. Unfortunately, due to recent political developments, the money which we would normally have spent in your establishment is instead being set aside to pay steep new taxes. We profoundly regret this change of affairs but must adapt to it. All the best to you in your future endeavors, the Torquewrench Family."

-play that "TIMPIST" game which I'd lost in 1986; it's on CodeProject now

-get this porta-john fit to receive guests; it now supports three guests

So, immediate stuff I gotta do this year, is to remove the old TV and the Christmas tree. Also I should go find another less-crummy job.

Otherwise I dunno. Some here have offered suggestions to me. "Be less trollish". "Vote Republican". I haven't noticed the upside on either one.

I will never, ever, give one penny to any GOP candidate unless they fight the MFM viciously! Otherwise I'm throwing money away. Mitt Romney is a good example. I wasn't thrilled with him as our nominee, but he was energized when he picked Ryan as VP, so I threw some money to them. I wish I had not.

Not to mention the risk that these putative vendors of yours would have to run in keeping a supply of petroleum distillates on hand! They would almost have to run another, unrelated food business on the side, say, something like offering 32oz sodas and potato chips just to keep up!

Which is never going to happen, obviously.

2. I already exercise - I will continue to do it . I am going to do all I can to keep myself out of the mitts of socialized healthcare. I work in healthcare - I know how bad things already are. It will get worse.

3. I resolve to use more flavored olive oils instead of butter. Peeps, I read that tip from someone at Maggie's Farm and it's worth it. You don't have to spend a fortune to buy expensive oils from France or Italy - there are good domestic ones that cost about $18. a bottle (used sparingly, that bottle will last you a while). Scrambled eggs made with a tsp. of butter olive oil are delicious and much more healthy. Salmon cooked with orange or citrus olive oil is heavenly (made it tonight for dinner - I haven't had better fish in a restaurant.)

4. I also resolve to savor things like sunrises in summer, autumn leaves, fresh snowfalls - you know, nature. At a time when the nation is going to hell (and none of us can stop it), there's something really comforting about the timeless beauty of nature. Obama can't wreck that.

435 >>Oh and since I'm currently without gainful employment, I resolve to smoke weed for the 1st time since 1979

Apparently, weed is more "potent" than it was, back in the day. So...

Also, you pretty much always have to pee in a cup to get a new job, in any industry, for any position, nowadays.

(It's amazing! There is an entire industry built around having job applicants pissing into cups. This was not a thing when I was 20 yrs old. I thought it extraordinary when the Marriott Corp. set up an appointment for me at a Drs office for a front desk job.)

Now? In these hard times, when everyone is scrambling even for entry level positions? You have a competitive edge against almost 2/3s of the competition if you make it to the "we're interested enough to pay $60 to see if you are worth hiring" phase.

Degrees? Diplomas? GEDs? Resumes?

Hey, dumbass! Are you smart enough to lay off the pot long enough to get hired?

That's all they want to know.

And it is sad how many kids can't clear this very, very, low hurdle.

Like I said, this really wasn't a thing when I was in my 20's and even if it had been it wouldn't have effected me either way.

But it sure is now!

Like I said, there is an entire industry built around having job applicants pissing into cups.

Amazing.

450 My father was raised on a farm. (What is now the southern suburban Milwaukee area was farmland when he was a boy.) Our old family farm, overlooking Lake Michigan, is now upscale condo land. Unfortunately, it was sold in 1962, and my family made no great profit. The same land is now worth a fortune. When I head up north and pass farms on the way, I really rather envy them. (Although my dad told me you don't know what hard work is until you've farmed.)

Posted by: Donna V. at January 01, 2013 10:54 PM (BStAJ)

451 @450... Pretty much. Now the people who live where others earlier made the land productive work-out as much as they work. Their sweat can be full of stress-products and fear, not the liquid by-product of labor.
Still, farming can be dangerous. I had a sow once who took out a wall trying to get at me and my neighbor who was helping me with her litter of pigs. Yikes! Needless to say, I, at least, survived, and my neighbor did, too.

Posted by: Thorvald at January 01, 2013 11:07 PM (1V6Pv)

452 I just thought of something. When I was a smart-ass teen, I thought my old man was the most boring guy in the world because he lived his entire life within 5 miles of where he was born. He was the son of immigrants from Eastern Europe, who had traveled thousands of miles to get to the US, lived in the Lower East Side of Manhattan for years before they moved to the Midwest - and yet he didn't want to move anywhere else. When I was a kid, he could drive us around the Milwaukee burbs which had been farms when he was a boy and he still remembered where the farm boundries had been. "See Plainfield Avenue here? That's where the Tischendorf's farm was. This was a rye field. Over there, that's where the Schmidts grew wheat." He even told my brothers (not me!) that a local movie theatre had once been a whorehouse. He knew everything about the area, going back to the 1920's - everyone who had farmed there, what they had grown, where the blacksmith's shop had been, how they used to ride horses to get to school. And I thought it was dull. Now I have an appreciation for people with roots and history. I live 10 miles away now - but my life could not be more different.

453 KJV is not the best translation. There are two primary reasons, one: we know more from archeology now than then, so we have better sources and more accurate translations.
The big one is two: the language has changed. We don't speak like they did then, so it's not a great translation regardless how accurate it is. What does, "And from thence we fetched a compass" mean?

Finally, it's impediment to outreach "all those thees and thous" etc, and it can prop up a false understanding of the dialect of the scriptures. The NT is written in trade Greek, and there are now special formalities used when speaking to God in the Bible--the usage of the KJV can lead one to think one must pray "spiritually" meaning archaicly.

The DFL (what the Commie-fag-junkies call themselves here) are now in control of MN. Our family business suffered the fate of many that did not heed the Red Dawn of Socialism: we shuttered. I am hoping/working to move to a red state (I guess WI almost qualifies), as my kids are in college now (in a red state).
I hope we can meet sometime soon, but it may not be in MN.

464 Wisconsin is less Commie, I guess, than MN, because of Walker, but on the other hand, the doofuses here voted for Obama in Nov. How a state can vote for both Walker and Obama, I don't know. I didn't realize so many of us suffered from split personalities.

We will continue to "meet" here at AOSHQ and hey, we can figure out a game plan. Really I think it would be nice to at least meet. I have been "set up" with dates by friends 3 times in the past 6 months - and each time, I discovered my date was to the left of Fidel Castro. I might be RC, but never wanted to become a nun - but given the choice between libtards and vow of chastity - I'll take the vow!
