DC Reporter Hisses: It's So Silly That Rich People and Reporters Be Bound By the Same Laws as Plebians!

Read the beat-down of Glenn Thrush of Politico. DrewM. and Gabe both get in some shots.

The mentality that High Status People -- Friends of Obama, wealthy liberals -- have a general license to ignore the laws they inflict on others is so entrenched they're not even aware of its presence.

14 The news people have an entitlement mentality, just like the FSA.

Only THEIR entitlement is centered on getting to do whatever they want regardless of illegality, and also being treated like celebrities and wise men wherever they go.

I can't control their actions, but certainly we could all not treat them like celebrities and encourage others not to do so, either. (Not that I think most people here do treat them like that.)

I don't think these people should get preferences at tables in restaurants or be able to board first on airplanes. I don't think they should get complimentary tickets to entertainment or sporting events. In fact, I think they should be mocked and insulted everywhere they go.

That's honest. Once, I can see but twice? There is an accepted abuse of women by athletes that begins in High School and works it's merry way up to the pros. My niece was a victim of one such Wisconsin college football player. I don't doubt he forced himself on those women. At the same time, Mommas need to teach their little girls to stay out of Bathrooms with professional athletes. In the end, no means no.

someguy @ 58

That is almost exactly what Jeffrey Toobin said about the whole thing on CNN this afternoon. Just happened to be surfing by CNN and saw this was coming on, and stayed to watch. Toobin was an insufferable prick as usual, and said what could be predicted. Except he didn't use an vulgar words that could be censored, just the usual insulting vulgarity.

It doesn't explain Gregory flouting the law to make some "point" by brandishing a piece of weapons hardware that is specifically illegal to posses in DC. I loathe all these people - not solely because I disagree with them politically, but because they have no principles except expediency and the end justifying the means.

123 I've noticed jocks seem to fall into two categories - there are the stereotypical dumb jocks and that group includes the thuggish ones who would have ended up in jail if not for their athletic gifts. Certainly some of those people must make it to the pro level, even though they are overshadowed by the thugs and idiots.

131 It's "liberal privilege". It works just like white privilege.

Of course, stupid liberals believe that such a thing can only work through race or gender (but only males; they refuse to even consider the possibility that there may be any female privilege, and to the extent that there is, female privilege is actually anti-woman because it reduces her as a person.). They may acknowledge beauty privilege, but they certainly don't want the government doing anything about that.

Seriously, read anything liberals write about white privilege, and you see exactly how liberal privilege works. It is absolutely a real phenomenon.

White privilege exists, of course, but it's only one effect among many. Beauty privilege is far more powerful.

Conservatives should talk about this more. Liberals hate when we point out the truth.
