Gun Control: A Discussion, Not A Lecture. [dri]

Larry Correia, over at Monster Hunter Nation has written an excellent framework of the current gun control debate. Correia, a true firearms expert, takes a systematic, point by point approach in exploring all of the arguments being made by gun control advocates and refutes them with facts and common sense. It is a must read for anyone planning on discussing this issue intelligently with friends and relatives over Christmas dinner. So now that there is a new tragedy the president wants to have a “national conversation on guns”. Here’s the thing. Until this national conversation is willing to entertain allowing teachers to carry concealed weapons, then it isn’t a conversation at all, it is a lecture.

The single best way to respond to a mass shooter is with an immediate, violent response. The vast majority of the time, as soon as a mass shooter meets serious resistance, it bursts their fantasy world bubble. Then they kill themselves or surrender. This has happened over and over again.

Ann Coulter's piece shows how hideously and how far the media will go to hide the facts.

http://www.anncoulter.com/

In a nonsense "study" going around the Internet right now, Mother Jones magazine claims to have produced its own study of all public shootings in the last 30 years and concludes: "In not a single case was the killing stopped by a civilian using a gun."

This will come as a shock to people who know something about the subject.

The magazine reaches its conclusion by simply excluding all cases where an armed civilian stopped the shooter: They looked only at public shootings where four or more people were killed, i.e., the ones where the shooter wasn't stopped.

If we care about reducing the number of people killed in mass shootings, shouldn't we pay particular attention to the cases where the aspiring mass murderer was prevented from getting off more than a couple rounds?

7 The "national conversation" on guns by Preezy Choom will only include what he wants it to include. It will not be based on factual statistics, or logical thinking with regard to concealed carry in hot spot areas, such as school settings. As that Coulter piece above points out, Choom, and by extension, his media droolers and imbeciles will completely ignore that side of the discussion. Blogs will continue to laugh and wail at the thought of putting "guns in the hands of toddlers." That's how they debate. Irrationally. Just look at the Fat Boy Moore. Injecting race into it. How truly misguided can a person be? How off the mark? How utterly ridiculous? There is no limit. Incidentally, I'm a big believer in serious lockdown measures in schools....all classroom door being completely reinforced and automatically locked in the event of a madman gaining access. Something they can't get through, shoot through or break down. Coupled with concealed carry...it could prevent a lot.

17 Now that the emotional shock is over about Sandy Hook, let's focus on the problem we're trying to solve. The problem is that emotionally unstable people sometimes break into schools and kill our children.

Now, how do we normally protect peoples' lives in this nation? How do we protect the President's life? With trained people carrying firearms. How do we protect politicians' lives? With trained people carrying firearms. How do celebrities protect their lives? With trained people carrying firearms. How do everyday citizens protect their lives? Byusing firearms.

So how should we protect the lives of our children? With trained people carrying firearms. Whether it be teachers, volunteers, or paid professionals, the answer seems clear.

It's not that hard of a problem to solve, really.

The libs have this new web campaign - DemanAPlan.Com - that shows hoiw fucking stupid they are.

But here's the problem.. it will likely work. All over America, mothers who are a helluva more concerned about the safety of their kids are thing "something" MUST be done.

Those mothers don't give a shit that the founders guaranteed your right to armor piercing bullets. And they don't really give a shit that you think it is your Constitutional right to have high-capacity magazines when then is no apparent real-world need.

So, yeah.. that campaign will work. But the restrictions will be symbolic, because we know magazine sizes are not what is killing people.

How many are already out there? I know how many I have. And it's a lot, by libtard standards, a puny collection by the standards of the gun guys I know. My point is there are a lot of fucking guns out there. A. Lot. If there is a mandatory buy back, are criminals going to comply? F-no. Are YOU going to comply? I know my answer. The sheer physical enormity of the hardware already in circulation makes the entire f'ng gun control argument simply retarded. And punitive. Yes. I've seen this statistic before....That estimate in my mind must be too low. I know a lot of people with arsenals of at least 2 dozen guns. The Japanese were wise not to invade. After arguing with someone on this issue, I spent several hours doing research on why America's murder rate is higher. The truth is, it isn't.

England, Germany, Japan, etc. all have less than 1 to about 1.5 murders per 100,000. The US has about 4. That's not much of a difference when you consider that Mexico, Brazil, and many of the South American countries have 15-20. Our demographics are closer to Brazil, while our murder rate is much, much closer to England. If you look at a murder rate map of the Americas and stop comparing us to monocultures like Japan and Sweden, we look remarkably safe.

73 At my libtard Christmas party last night, they were laughing at the someone on the news idea of a school with guns in a lock box, that a teacher would have to open with a combination. "Oh my what was that code again?" Much laughter ensued as they thought that how ludicrous that sounded. Again, I was under strict orders, so did not mention that the teacher would be carrying a weapon. A gun unloaded and locked up in the office 100 yards away is not much good in this kind of situation.

The teacher could have one of those quick open combination bedside safes in a drawer. It would be too slow for the teacher in the room with the shooter, but not too slow for the teacher that hears gunfire starting elsewhere in the school. It would still keep the guns safe from snatchy teenagers, or whatever.

78 Thinking outside the box in the case of knuckle heads that want to kill school kids.

School bus packed with little ones headed down the road. It MUST stop at the RR crossing and open up the door so the driver can see out and listen for trains. A knuckle head standing by the tracks with a knife. Driver down. Little ones unable to fight back. Most can't operate the back emergency door. Now what?

... yes you are correct Hadji is glad to see you, but Hadji also happen to have a Sig Sauer in his pocket. With a silencer, if you get Hadji's drift, and I am assured that you do...

What? This microphone, it is on? Yes?

Oh.

And so.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, Hadji is in the House. As Hadji walked into the club, a sign said 'No Shirt, No Gun, No Service"

Hadji is not sure if that is to mean you must have a gun to get service or if you must not have a gun to get service. Hadji? He is of the world. You would have to pry my 9MM hand pistol from the fingers of the person Hadji shot as that person tried to Hadji's guns.

If it is an infidel's fingers, so much towards better.

But, seriously, we have an expression in the lands you occupy - 'He who has the gun chooses the camel." And who among us is not preferring to choose which camel he has.

Am I right, or am I right?

Hadji is right.

So, judging from the sounds made from the darkness at least five of you have chambered a round and eight of you have flicked the safety to the off position.

And, if Hadji is not mistaken, at least one person has a pump action shotgun.

America. Based on the size of it and that Jews are everywhere and women are to drive, it is the safest country in the world.

And that is not of a joke.

Remember, try the veal, and that you should see the doctor about the trigger finger if it is itchy.

110 I read Larry's article. This is my response:

Adam Lanza finally stopped when he was confronted by an armed cop, and he shot himself. See how that works?

Mentally ill and criminally insane moonbats have more rights than sane people who make the logical choice to do what is necessary to protect their homes, family, and lives. I own a firearm and I guaran-goddamn-tee you that if anyone breaks into my home, they will leave in a body bag.

Ironically, some have called for arming school personnel in response to what happened in Connecticut. Gee, won’t that involve guns?

Bottom line: Armed criminals and loonies deliberately choose soft, unarmed targets. They couldn’t give one shit less about the idea of restrictive gun laws. Every law-abiding American citizen has the right to defend themselves from low life thugs and deranged psychos like Lanza, in spite of the Left’s fatuous politicizing.

"pass a law outlawing the manufacture or sale of guns and ammo"? Yeah, you're a real fucking genius, Larry. The current regime in DC would love to control guns the way it does healthcare. I prefer to have the option of getting the ammo and guns I need, if only to protect myself from our own government. But, you go right on ahead and kowtow to the whims of an out of control Fed. Just don't expect the rest of us to follow suit.

The thing that was most scary? The "media" actually fucked up and and played the FULL clip of that scene once....ONCE, and was never shown again.

The scene I'm talking about was the long blond hair dude they pulled from the tanker truck. What they showed once, and never showed again, was after the dude was beat up and was kind of laying under the floor board of the cab, some fucking scumbag walked up with a shotgun, pumped it, held it out to almost point blank range with one hand and fired, pumped it again, and fired again, then did some dance like he was in the mother fucking end zone of a football field after scoring a touchdown.

I had a room full of people at the house, and they ALL saw that. Half wanted to go get guns and head for the nearest city where shit was going on. The media knowing damn well that that clip was all that was needed to start a fucking race war never showed that clip again. It was buried never to be seen again. I saw it, the whole house saw it. That scene was so brutal it completely changed my attitude about a lot of things.

118 Mr Moo Moo - you can't have an intelligent debate with people like that.

But, playing the devil's advocate for a minute, let me summarize what a lot of people in the middle feel.

Gun owners and morons and other Constitutionalists look at this ideologically. One tiny restriction is a "slippery slope" to eventual gun confiscation.

Many people in middle America do not believe restricting magazine sizes, etc. is a big deal at all. They also feel certain types of military-style rifles are best left in the hands of the military. They also feel we need better registration and tracking - they have no idea the national tracking system is already in place.

Bottom line - we will get some new gun laws, ineffective and symbolic as they may be.

123 Those folks who desire to ban decent honest folks from owning assault weapons ought to try a couple sessions of any online shooter game (like Call of Duty) where you can choose your weapons and play against others -- except limit your team's weapon choice to peashooters (simple revolver).

Good luck on you and your team surviving more than a few seconds... Keep in mind, many of the current video games are reasonably realistic. In other words, banning law abiding citizens from owning assault weapons isn't going to stop the possession and use of these weapons illegally -- it's just going to put honest folks at higher risk of being unable to protect themselves.

As Israel has discovered thru experience, the front line of protection against thugs and nutjobs brandishing assault weapons is NEVER going to be police or regulations. The front line of defence against thugs and nutjobs is (or should be) honest law abiding citizens who are willing to carry a weapon to protect themselves as well as others in their vicinity -- a well regulated militia, if you will.

Seems there is something I once read about a well regulated militia having the right to bear arms... Now where was that?

143 Bingo on asking the libtards what other parts of the "so-called" Bill of Rights they are up for a "conversation" about. I think we would be well-served having a conversationabout removing the "malice" standard for MFM defamation of public figures and the ability to protect "anonymous government sources." Plus, if you're innocent who needs a jury trial? And why are we wasting law enforcement's time with silly stuff like search warrants? And Barbra Streisand has plenty of room in her mansions, so doesn't it stand to reason that we should begin quartering troops at her place in Malibu? Right to privacy? I'd like to see Lurch's discharge papers that he promised eons ago. This could be a long conversation.

I was reading an article a few days after the shooting and it happened to mention that liberals' favorite form of entertainment is anything making fun of conservatives, while conservatives' favorite form of entertainment is football.
They really have nothing animating them but their hatred of those who disagree with them. Which is why whenever a country gets taken over by collectivists, after they purge their first set of enemies, they turn on each other by creating a new set of enemies amongst themselves.

154 One of the exonerated “Central Park Five” was busted after allegedly flinging a brick at his girlfriend just blocks from the site of the infamous 1989 rape, the Daily News has learned.
Corey Wise, 40, was arrested Wednesday afternoon in the October attack on the 30-year-old victim near the northwest corner of the park, according to court records and sources.
The couple was fighting at 110th St. and Fifth Ave. around 4 p.m. on Oct. 1 when Wise hurled the brick at his girlfriend as she stormed off, sources said. Though the brick landed at the woman’s feet, she allegedly told cops she feared for her safety after the incident.

158 To conservatives who support the Bill of Rights but do not own a gun and never plan on owning a gun, articles like this seem one step short of lunacy.

So we’re going to make Wayne LaPierre’s dream come true and arm everyone now. Everybody who’s not a felon carries a sidearm, Joe Smith and his wife Susie too, because—well—feminism. Can’t you just see them walking arm in arm down the streets of Akron on a hot summer night with their handguns dangling fetchingly at their sides?

Hey—while we’re at it, maybe we can bring back dueling. Condi vs. Hilary—what a show!

And what about poor little Alice Noble who wants to be a Teacher and Help Children and now finds out that she’s also expected to join the SWAT team and fight off classroom intruders with her Colt 38? Not exactly what she was expecting when she joined the profession. Alice hates guns. Well, too bad; Wayne says you need to buck up for the sake of your little charges.

For that matter, what kind of weapon is Alice going to be packing? It can’t just be a revolver, because what happens if Wayne’s son goes nuts and raids his stash and comes in waving a couple o’ Bushmasters at her? Oh no; obviously she’s going to need a semi-automatic handgun with a magazine, too. Wheeee!

So let me see if I have this straight. We can’t allow so-cons in the conservative ranks anymore. We’re not allowed to oppose abortion or gay marriage—shut up about all that. But we are supposed to support gun nuts who think they have to have semi-automatic weapons in case the colored people come up from Harlem or Bridgeport and start knocking on their door.

Hey wait a minute—isn’t that exactly what Nancy Lanza thought?

I understand full well that the politicization of Sandy Hook by the pacifist Left is repulsive, but why try to outdo them?

An old friend of mine moved out to LA just before the riots. He had a bunch of VHS tapes of the riots because he used to work in TV production. There was a guy who was pulled out of a truck that had his head smashed by a guy with a med-large sized blunt object (fire extinguisher?). Judging by the blood pool that came out of his head there is NO way that he survived. The circumstances were very similar to the Denny assault but it was never re-broadcast.
