Welcome to Winter. Officially anyway. Still have a few hours left for the Mayan Apocalypse (or maybe until Sunday According To Mexican Scientists) so drink up and come on in to the ONT.

Unusual Christmas Traditions

Unusual Christmas Traditions From Around The World. Oh I'm sure some of you morons have some "unusual" ones too.

Catalonia: While Americans gather around the Christmas tree to open presents, in Catalonia, families gather around the “caga tio,” a log that’s decorated with a cartoon face and plied with treats in the weeks before Christmas. On Christmas day, the children sing a song and beat the log with sticks until it “poops” out presents (caga is the Catalonian equivalent of “caca,” and literally means “pooping log”). The log’s backside is covered with a blanket, and when the song is done and the presents have all been pooped out, parents pull back the covers to reveal the log’s scatological bounty. It’s a Christmas miracle!

Bonus: Latest Probability Of A White Christmas. Dang. No snow for me. And I'm not gonna pay $16,387 To Make It Snow At My House either.

Bob Costas

Psst. Hey Bob Costas, you might want to rant about televisions now. Tipping Televisions Kill Record Number Of U.S. Kids Government Warns.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) released a report on Thursday that estimates about 43,000 people are injured in a television or furniture tip-over related incident each year, more than 25,000, or 59 percent, of whom are children.

The report also showed that 349 people were killed between 2000 and 2011 by a falling television, appliance or piece of furniture -- 84 percent of them were kids younger than 9 years old. Falling televisions were more deadly, accounting for 62 percent of these fatalities. Last year alone, a record 41 tip-over related fatalities occurred.

The worrisome trends the report spotlighted indicated that three children are injured by a tip-over every hour -- or 71 children per day -- and one child is killed every two weeks. Seventy percent of injuries involving children were caused by televisions, followed by 26 percent caused by furniture like dressers or tables.

Sadly, we don't know how many were killed while watching Bob Costas.

A Bit Of History

The Boy Who Became A WWII Veteran At 13 Years Old. So what were you doing when you were 13 that comes close to this?

Seaman Graham quietly became a teenager, turning 13 on November 6, just as Japanese naval forces began shelling an American airfield on Guadalcanal Island. Steaming south with the Enterprise, Task Force 64, with the South Dakota and another battleship, the USS Washington, took four American destroyers on a night search for the enemy near Savo Island. There, on November 14, Japanese ships opened fire, sinking or heavily damaging the American destroyers in a four day engagement that became known as the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal.

Later that evening the South Dakota encountered eight Japanese destroyers; with deadly accurate 16-inch guns, the South Dakota set fire to three of them. “They never knew what sank ‘em,” Gatch would recall. One Japanese ship set its searchlights on the South Dakota, and the ship took 42 enemy hits, temporarily losing power. Graham was manning his gun when shrapnel tore through his jaw and mouth; another hit knocked him down, and he fell through three stories of superstructure. Still, the 13 year-old made it to his feet, dazed and bleeding, and helped pull other crew members to safety while others were thrown by the force of the explosions, their bodies aflame, into the Pacific.

I love this quote from the skipper of the USS South Dakota.

Standing on the bridge, Captain Gatch watched as a 500-pound bomb struck the South Dakota’s main gun turret. The explosion injured 50 men, including the skipper, and killed one. The ship’s armor was so thick, many of the crew were unaware they’d been hit. But word quickly spread that Gatch had been knocked unconscious. Quick-thinking quartermasters managed to save the captain’s life—his jugular vein had been severed, and the ligaments in his arms suffered permanent damage—but some onboard were aghast that he didn’t hit the deck when he saw the bomb coming. “I consider it beneath the dignity of a captain of an American battleship to flop for a Japanese bomb,” Gatch later said.

Math Tricks Using Eleven.

You should know how to easily tell if a number is divisible by 11.

As an example, we’ll use the number 10604.

First, add up the odd number digits in the number: 1 + 6 + 4 = 11.
Next, add up the even number digits: 0 + 0= 0.
Now subtract the sum of the odd digits (11) with the sum of the even digits (0): 11-0 = 11.
Now take the resulting number and see if you can divide it by 11: 11/11 = 1
If you can do this final division, as in this case (11/11 = 1), then the number itself (10,604) is also divisible by 11.

Boys and young men are being left behind academically, and increasingly throughout their life. Despite the “war on womyn” rhetoric, boys and young men are falling behind and quickly becoming the forgotten gender. My son reminded me that the county switched to a new, "greener" solution to melt the ice and snow on the roads because of concerns over the stuff they had been using (which did a bang-up job). 52 DECEMBER 21--A federal employee was formally reprimanded this month for excessive workplace flatulence, a sanction that was delivered to him in a five-page letter that actually included a log of representative dates and times when he was recorded “releasing the awful and unpleasant odor” in his Baltimore office.

In a December 10 letter accusing him of “conduct unbecoming a federal officer,” the Social Security Administration employee was informed that his “uncontrollable flatulence” had created an “intolerable” and “hostile” environment for coworkers, several of whom have lodged complaints with supervisors.

Every Christmas, we would have to scour the gifts for "made in Japan" stickers before wrapping them. She and your granddad would have gotten on like a house on fire! Plus, you also could not mention FDR's name in their house. Nobody ever did, but I can only imagine the consequences. She made the best damn rhubarb pies, that woman. Blueberry, too. OMG, I miss her so much, still to this day.

Posted by: Oldsailors Poet, Wonders what Dagny thinks at December 21, 2012 10:35 PM (3Y7RV)

He told my dad he never wanted his kids to be mechanics or sailors (he was a heavy equipment mechanic), he didn't even teach my uncle how to change his own oil. I'm sure I was a big disappointment to him (or would have been if he hadn't drank himself to death). Of course he did tell Dad (after I took something apart when I was about 2 or so) "if that little bastard is gonna take shit apart you'd best learn him to put it back together."

Odd as in position not in value. 10604 would have the 1, the 6, and the four in places five, three and one respectively (ten thousands, hundreds and ones columns), the zeros would occupy places four and two.

Hey guys didn't mean to start any bad feelings on the last thread... I was just recommending my favorite gun to Mr. Moo Moo for reasons of my own. I do understand that stopping power is a major part of ahome defense weapon and therefore bigger calibers are recommended. But....
1. the buck mark is relatively inexpensive to purchase therefore he won't have to choose between paying the mortage and getting a gun. I've never ever (like ever) thought of selling my buck marks... way too much fun with em over the years and they were my first so they'll be with me till the end...plus I'd only get a couple hundred for one so it's worth more as a hidden safety net kind of weapon at home...
2. a brick of .22s will let you shoot on the cheap and alot... allowing you to not only get comfortable with guns but to actually become accurate with them as well.
3. the buck mark has a lot less recoil so a new gun buyer or a *ahem* female friend of new guy buyer will likely enjoy shooting it much more so than say a .45. If a person or persons is affraid of firearms or whatever- a .22 is a great way to start and to get a person to stay interested in firearms.... then... like me.... they will move onward andupward and buy allkinds of guns with allkinds of calibers and eventually forgetsome of whatthey even own.... like McCain and his houses.
4. I have talked to people that have purchased handguns before and ended up selling them because they didn't shoot them enough and/or was too expensive to shoot... and/or they didn't like the recoil. These things matter to first time gun owners.... not so much to people like me who are bitter clinger wack jobs who will not part with a gun once purchased.
5. I owned my buck mark for a year or so before I bought a 9mm (for home defense), then a remington marine magnum ( because, that's why), then a...... etc..... etc..... I never would have purchased another gun if I didn't enjoy the buck mark so much. I was just thinking a person should start out with a good inexpensive handgun and use it alot before moving on to the Kimbers or Sigs. That's all. Plus, even though I have many other guns... I still shoot my .22s ( buck mark, GSG5, Ruger 10/22) the most cause they are the cheapest to shoot and good good fun.
6. Feel free to correct me but.... don't home owners often simply have to show the criminal they have a gun or to "rack" a round into the chamber to get said criminal to high tail it out of there? Most guns aren't even fired in a home invasion deal are they?... besides a .22 shot at you in a home is going to sound pretty loud anyway so the criminal will likely leave as fast as possible anyway yes? Plus, I would bet a .22 is gonna hurt like hell when it hits ya... and it will hit the criminal as the buck mark is accurate as all get out... even in the 4 and ahalf or 5 inch barrel...
7. Just my thoughts. I realize it's a long post about stuff that most likely has been hashed and rehashed here at AceofSpadehq.
8. Merry Christmas to you all. Wishing you all health and happiness in the New Year!

Some Guy,
A friend of mine came home from work and found a large young man working on his gun-safe with a crow-bar.
He drew his "AMT Backup" .380, and yelled at the guy, who promptly stood-up and charged Lonnie with the crow-bar.
Lonnie shot him twice "Center Mass" with the .380, then turned and ran for his life.
The guy with the crow-bar chased him for almost a block, before he died.
The .380 was loaded with Winchester Silver-Tip hollow-points, and Lonnie hit him twice in the heart.
The man was dead, but didn't know it, yet.
Confronting an intruder in your home can be deadly, even if you have more gun than a .22.
Just sayin...

175 With the holidays upon us, I would like to share a personal experience with my friends about drinking and driving. Some
of us have been known to have problems... well, big problems from time
to time getting home after "socializing" with friends for the evening.
Anyway, two days ago I was out with some friends and had several drinks
.... yeah! Several too many actually. I slowed down a bit and started
drinking red wine as the evening progressed.... too late to worry about
it actually.

Feeling
a little too happy, I had the sense to know that I may be slightly over
the limit. That's when I did something that I've never done before...I
took a cab home. Sure enough on the way home there was a police road
block, but since it was a cab, they waved it past. I arrived home
safely without incident. This was a real surprise as I had never driven
a cab before, I don't know where I got it, and now that it's in my
garage I don't know what to do with it. Any suggestions

203 154 Your point is well-taken if your plan is to practice with the .22. It would be a retarded choice for defense if you had almost anything else. People believe that intruders run when they hear safeties come off and shotguns racked. They're idiots. An intruder has established their intentions if they're in your home (are they there by themselves?) and if there's any movement after you say "freeze" the only correct answer is to shoot and shoot and shoot until the threat is neutralized. People have been shot in the head with .44 magnums and run all the way down the block before expiring.

We need to have a real honest discussion about the violent gun culture in America, but the only topic that can be discussed is how the evil old rich white republican capitalists use guns to keep the brothers down. To discuss black on black gun violence, rapper gun-related lyrics, or black gang violence would be racist and will not tolerated in a liberal Amerikkka

298 Reading Peaches' cab story made me think of one I heard:

A cop had set up a watch point right next to a popular bar.

A guy came staggering out of the bar right before closing time and managed to work his way over to his motorcycle. He fumbled around looking for his keys for several minutes, then when he finally found them, he floundered around with his helmet and jacket for the next several minutes.

Meanwhile, the bar was emptying out and he was still jacking with his bike. Finally, after much bumbling around, he managed to get it upright and onto the road. The cop watched him swerving off and flipped on his blinky blinks and pulled him over.

The drunk registered a .000 on the breathalyzer test and the copy asked him incredulously what he was on. "Oh, nothing," the man replied. "I was the designated decoy tonight."

What kind of tetras? As an aside, most of 'em are schooling fish, and if you have a big enough tank (and 55 should work for all but the larger ones) and about half a dozen, it's fun to see where they take their little mob.

I don't think so. I don't care for sig's, but that's because I find they eject funny and more consistently rain brass down on my head and chest (I'm left-handed) than any other gun I've ever fired. But that is possibly idiosyncratic.

Curiously, breaking in a .22, I ended up with the brass sticking and burning on my upper arm, just inside the t-shirt sleeve.

Over-penetration with that round has to be a concern.

Of course the 5.56 is moving damned fast, and with that small a surface area isn't going to expand much even with a hollow point.

I would hate to hit my neighbors by mistake, although at least one is a flaming lib, so.........

427 I had all the lessons I ever needed in the 5.56 verses 7.62 years ago when I was at a friends place somewhere in NY state.>>

Right or wrong I get the reason for the military in general to use the 5.56 since a 1000 rounds weighs so much less. Playing or target shooting are way different than a fire fight. The 5.56 may not obliterate a guy but it sure slows him down so I get a better chance to shoot him again with the extra ammo I can carry. That and the tumbling.

I can't remember the Italian name of the dish right off-hand, but I first found it in a Sunset California cooking book, and loved it. Scallopini? Something like that, I think.

Anyway, that, a salad and lightly steamed asparagus, and Bob's your uncle for making a nice dinner that most ladies would appreciate.

460 Chemjeff,

I've got a simple recipe I used to make back when I was a single lad squiring the ladies around.

Sour cream and mushroom chicken

4 chicken breasts, boneless or bone in
1 jar/package Armour dried beef
1 can cream of mushroom soup
8 oz sour cream
1/2 can chicken broth

Preheat oven to 350, line a glass baking dish with the dried beef. Place chicken on top of dried beef. Mix sour cream, soup, and broth then pour over chicken. Bake for 60 minutes. Serve over rice or noodles.

Make sure you buy some rubbers because it never failed me.

If we are talking zombies, then the 22 is all you need. A shot just needs to enter the brain pan and the higher calibers may have the stopping power, but that is useless on a zombie. Plus you can carry an asston of the stuff. And it is cheap. And you can find that caliber anywhere.

497 I am, officially, an ASS!

Drove 77 yr. old Dad to the hospital this morning to get new knees.

(BTW, that's fucking AMAZING! That you can get two whole new knees! He did a Laparoscopic surgery to correct some bullshit injury he sustained in HS Football about a decade ago.)

Anyway, I am a cold-hearted bitch for dropping off my Dad to undergo surgery without holding his hand to the operating table, according to his nurses.

I HAD to get back out in the in the field and sell something, anything or my Boss would have wiped his ass with my face & tossed it out & for good reason.

So be it.

I have been trying to deal with my own "behavior health" issues this past week.

I have been fighting valiantly to get some psychiatric help so that I can keep my most favorite job in the world.

I don't care at this point.

I should have been fired 6 weeks ago!

Label me! Put me on the rolls as someone who needs "accommodation"!

I know that it must sound like a boast but I pretty much ALWAYS find someone that I can sell our services to.

Sometimes, I can't make myself drive my car onto River Rd.

To get to the mandatory meeting!

It is ridiculous!

I know that!

"I am going to faint or have a heart-attack, driving my car, right NOW, and probably kill innocents."

I think this all the time, lately, I KNOW it is Stupid.

I don't know who I am supposed to be bullshitting, at this point.

HR or Sales!?

I won't lie to my customers, I won't lie to my boss...

Customers are good, Boss is good (getting better) , product is kinda fucking AWESOME!,

If I am terrified to leave my bedroom, that's on me.

That is my own bullshit.

Once I DO, manage to leave my house...

God 'Swelp 'ya!

Posted by: @PurpAv at December 22, 2012 12:59 AM (xpgUt)

499 I'm trying to think of something to cook, and I keep coming back to simple italian-ish things -- veal or chicken pan fried, put off to the side to rest, add wine/lemon juice to the pan, reduce down until slightly syrupy, add capers, minced garlic, lemon slices, herbs, warm, then add back the meat. It's easy and relatively foolproof but few people do it while alone because it uses extra plates and things.

If you want really fancy, you do the egg wash and breadcrumbs bit and don't put the meat back in the pan, serve the pan sauce over top (needs to be runnier). If you want extra special fancy, egg wash the meat, wrap a single slice of prosciutto over that, egg wash the prosciutto and put on the breadcrumbs.

One thing, though, are you cooking at her place or yours? 'Cause it's a bit of a chore for cleanup.

500 My turn to play.

7.62mm NATO is a titanic load for home defense. If you live within 400 yards of anyone else, you have a good chance of putting rounds through their walls ... and more.

5.56mm is much less powerful, but still, the danger zone is still 200 yards+. How many targets do you expect, and how motivated are they?

If your alert sound is breaking glass, or a door being tries / kicked-in, a 12 gauge pump shotgun, with a real stock, not a pistol grip, makes a lot of sense.

There's a lot to be said for pistol rounds for home defense: a .40 or .45 automatic is plenty at 25 yards and closer, and the weapons are small. An automatic, all automatics, with 0 or 1 magazines, are giant problems. 2 (loaded) is the minimum number, and 3 or 4 or 5, preferably all loaded, are much better.

Fuck I am so sick of this argument. If a killer is in my house, I'm going to shoot him with the first thing that I lay my hands on. Odds being what they are a round traveling through at least one of my walls and then actual hitting and killing a neighbor is the last of my worries. 531 say, you're a regular Don Juan, right?any suggestions on what to cook for Velma tomorrow night?she doesn't like beef, chicken or pork is okay
With chicken, you can always go with Chicken Cordon Bleu. Stuff some chicken breasts with sliced ham and swiss, dredge in flour, eggs and breadcrumbs and then pan fry. Chop up a couple of slices of bacon and render out the fat in a pan, add washed green beans and cook until tender, finish off with a splash of lemon juice and a pat of butter. Finally, cook some carrots in a pot or in a foil bag in the oven with some white wine and a little butter until they're tender. Add a white wine and you're set.

537 So, I'd like some advice from the horde.

I have a friend who is a bit of a know it all. She thinks that whatever she does is the best. Her credit union, her car dealership, her doctors, I could go on.

Well, she has been pushing me to go to her credit union and I've found that their rates are well below what I'm getting. She's been pushing this for a long time, so I emailed her the research I've done. She looked at the rates and commented next time she wanted a color pie chart, which I thought was rather bitchy.

She claims that she's getting way, way higher unadvertised rates because she has a home loan, car loans, cd, 2 savings accounts, money markets and so on. But does say that she thinks it's OK for me to stay where I am. At no point did I ask her for her opinion on that.

Now... she is not in good financial shape and has recently taken out a loan against her husbands insurance policy to pay for her credit cards. She is in denial over all that, and, a few weeks ago, she was so stressed i thought she was going to have a heart attack. Overall, I'm much more financially responsible than her.

She is a good friend.

How do I respond. Do I:

1. Ignore the whole topic and realize she is a good person but sometimes is a know it all who has to be right.

2. Call her bluff and ask for all the details of all the rates she's presently getting?

Opinons? I really don't know what to do, and it really grates on me to be treated like I'm a financial idiot when in fact, my finances are 100% better than hers.

554 has recently taken out a loan against her husbands insurance policy to pay for her credit cards.

That's actually a small step towards responsibility. Loans against life insurance are usually quite cheap and can often be configured to pay themselves off using a "dividend" amount that might otherwise be used to buy automatic "paid up" insurance.

If you want the keep her as a friend, STFU, and accept that some people's lives are a trainwreck.

And you answered your one question with 'you're in better financial shape' and 'my finances are better than hers.'

But if she is really a good friend I would put both sets of records on the table and let her see it in B&W.

566 Thank you for your opinions everyone, I really needed some sort of
input. I am wholly annoyed by her attitude, since she does go into these
know it all modes once and a while, and really would like to give her a
bit of a smack down.

But... on the advice of the horde, I'm going to just let it go and have deleted the snarky email I was going to send.

As
for why.... I have no idea what her vested interest in getting me to
join her credit union is- maybe she'll get some sort of cash for a referral. In fact,
that could be it. However, I'm happy where I am, and will stay there.
Plus, if she knew me better, she would know it's pretty hard to simply
"convince" me to do things without hard facts, which she doesn't have.

Plus.. I think the holidays plus financial stress plus other things- like the shootings in CT- have kind of made her nuts.

Sigh.

Once again "do nothing" wins.

Maybe I'll find a liberal to argue with in the next few days to get out my stress....

567 My department just hired a part-time worker. (Everytime we lose a full-timer, a part-time person gets hired - so every full-timer who remains is working their ass off and is at least 3X more stressed out than they were before the Era of Hope and Change). Anyway, we were reviewing this guy's resume today and my liberal boss and another liberal co-worker were raving about how charming and sharp and knowledgable this guy is- they interviewed him on Tuesday. Well, I am really glad that the meeting was a conference call-in, so those two couldn't see me laughing to myself. I was grinning because the new guy's work experience includes working for a conservative think tank and the Charles E. Koch Foundation. Apparently the libs in the office didn't realize that Charles E. is one of the evil, dreaded Koch Brothers and that the bright, charming young man they arerarin' to hire is one of those terrible conservatives. Actually, I think I was the only one who picked up on that. Remember, these are people who are positive they are much smarter than conservatives. I am looking forward to meeting my fellow wingnut - it will be nice to have company. And I'm happy the position is going to a recent graduate who happens to be conservative, instead of to some dippy hipster.

596 Doomday review:

This product was given a full 24 hours to deliver on its promises. We found the ads appealing and packaging ample, but the assembly instructions were lacking in critical details, and key parts were missing from the hardware package forcing us to make a midnight trip to Walmart to complete assembly.

Once assembled, the doomsday proved an impressive sight and was generously festooned with mesmerizing shiny things. We gazed at it for hours in this state of unactivated repose. It really was an impressive piece of work.

The proof of course is always in the pudding. What precisely would it do when the batteries were installed and it was switched on? Could this glittering apparatus of planetary destruction deliver the goods using only the 4 included D cells?

Admittedly, we were skeptical. One would presume such a highly billed product capable of ending the world needs a bit more power than the Energizer bunny. Perhaps it would draw its real power from the space-time fabric and the D cells were only needed to open the gateway and power a few flashing LED's for show to make it look like something was going on?

Anyway, we flipped the switch. Not much happened other than some LED's started flashing. OK, destroying worlds can take some time, we understand that. So, off to McD's to spend our last hours on earth snarfing down Dollar Menu items like there was no tomorrow, whist the doomsday worked it magic.

Get home, still nothing. OK, maybe destroying the world is kinda an overnight thing, like letting paint dry. The LED's are still flashing furiously, so the D cells haven't gone flat yet. Maybe this thing works like a flux capacitor? It's gotta charge up through the space-time power source before its hellish nature can be released? Of course, that's the ticket. It simply needs to charge up. By morning, we'll be ready so see this doomsday really kicking it.

We bound out of bed, the sun is shining, its a new day and the LED's are still flashing! Outstanding. But nothing else is going on either...

...its not even humming. Horrible engines of destruction should at least hum shouldn't they? Of course they should. They always do in the movies. Perhaps we were sold a defective doomday? After all, it did come with a money back lifetime warranty printed on very elegant high rag content watermarked certificate suitable for framing. The TV ads confidently proclaimed "satisfaction guaranteed or your money back".

OK, so we're gonna take a look inside and see if maybe its just a loose wire or something simple like that. Off comes the "easy maintenance" cover and we peek inside. Nothing there. No guts. No machinery. No space-time portal generators...just a few crumpled up Twinkie wrappers and a glob of chewing gum.

When I was a little kid, I thought those "X-Ray Specs" would work too, but they didn't.

All krausened and unpasteurized.

All were very good. C02 levels were on the low side and poured with almost no head. The high alpha hop beers mellowed considerably - I'm not a big fan of IPA style beers. The stouts aged very well, one crown came off black/purple - black patent malt has a purple hue - so the malt somehow stained the inner plastic liner. The Bigfoot was very diacetyl - kinda disappointed with that outcome-
I'm not a barleywine fan but had high hopes for this 9.5%alc beer.

The 18th anniv. celebration ale was the best beer i've ever had the pleasure of drinking.

do you know that your comment has also shown up as a new post?

Was this an accident or on purpose?

I think I see what happened, you made a comment that then showed up as a post? Or you decided it was so good you bumped it.

620 I finally got around to setting up my Wii U last night and found its WiFi reception sucks. I had to find a compatible wired Ethernet adapter to get a reliable connection. $10 used at GameStop.

So tonight I do the massive update and find that after all these years Nintendo is still clueless about identity management and portability. The Nintendo franchises better be really good or this thing is going to be Nintendo's last console. Some major improvement to the software to up the performance and offer better structure could save it but I'm not holding my breath.

621 Dude where you at?

Posted by: Zakn at December 22, 2012 04:13 AM (zyaZ1)

622 >>Sorry for the gun talk but some know a bunch about guns and some are still learning

Well, some of us don't give a shit, beyond purchaing a revolver for self defense, getting trained, having to PAWN said weapon to make good on Dad's fucking BANKRUPTCY!!!

I've got a 77yr. old, in the hospital, getting new knees.

If that don't blow your fuckin'n mind, how about this...?

If I didn't have my Dad to take care of...

I really could give a shit!

And sometimes.... I wonder!

Scary, Stupid...

It was *so nice* to be able to walk on in to my own house after a day's work...

It also was a bit scary to realize, no one would be here to put on the lights...

I should be more realistic...

My Dad is really old (77) and will be going under the surgeon's knife and the anesthesiologist's judgement, twice in one weekend.

They say,the first knee went AWESOMESAUCE!

I don't LIKE the fucking IDEA of putting my Dad under.

It was almost impossible for me to swab him on the places he couldn't reach, last night.

I made him late, this morning!

I just don't know what I want...

I kind of want my DAD back but that's prolly 15 yrs. out of date.

I'm not going to make my brother or her wife happy either.

No fucking way, do I move to fucking Catalina.

Nice mountain views, if you don't live there!

That's *your* fuckin' conundrum, Karen!

Put my Dad in a fucking mobile home, with a craptastic mountain view!

30 miles away from fucking civilization!

I'm sure YOU like it!

If you think that I have anything better to offer, than swabbing my Dad's back before surgery, I gots news for you.

Right-click on the image you want a larger version of, select "copy image URL" or equivalent verbiage option.

Go to Teh Eebil Google. Select image search. Click on the little camera in the search box. Paste the URL in the box and click "search by image."

Look through the results for a large-format version.

Yes, that means you can search for images *like* images you like.

628 From the drudge Argentina article:

Thousands of people marched in front of the presidential palace earlier this week demanding the elimination of income tax, which many lower-paid workers never had to pay before but must now after receiving a salary hike earlier this year.

The demonstration was called by Hugo Moyano, the head of the powerful General Labor Confederation

Ha ha

I dunno about that. They've got a new Democrat mayor as of about three weeks ago, and their previous Republican mayor was for gay marriage and gun control. Apparently it was, for a while, the largest city in the country with a Republican mayor (after Bloomberg went independent), but not any more.
