Steven Spielberg has included New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on his list of personal heroes. The famed director – and longtime supporter of the Democratic Party – praised the GOP governor in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published Wednesday. Pointing to Christie’s handling of Hurricane Sandy, Spielberg said, “He was able to put party politics aside for the greater good. And the fact that he would, right at the end of the election cycle, tell the truth about his gratitude — he was my hero.” Spielberg also named Nelson Mandela, former President Bill Clinton, former Rep. Gabby Giffords and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow as people he greatly admires. Well, certainly does sound like the type of guy the Republicans have been running lately.... Chris Christie is exactly......
Who the GOP elite would love to run Who would fit nicely on the list of Dole, McCain, Romney, and ... Who Ann Coulter would wet her panties over and then make excuses for Who has disrespected conservatives enough to get the token media "back pat" in the primaries Who the Democrats hope is the 2016 nominee The GOP is dead to me. I will support conservatives in spite of the GOP label but never support another GOP candidate in spite of their beliefs. Christie is just the kind of guy who would think he could win, but he couldnt even come as close as Romney. He is an ego driven tool who makes us happy by yelling at the media once in a while.....yippee for small favors... Posted by: Alec J at December 19, 2012 05:50 PM (A6mOe) 130

Your chance to work on an 18th-century ship
By Jacqueline Klimas - Staff report Posted : Wednesday Dec 19, 2012 8:46:55 EST Sick of noisy flight decks? Done with far-off deployments? Apply to sail back into the 18th century. The Navy is seeking sailors to serve on the frigate Constitution — the same ship that sunk four English warships in the War of 1812. Those selected “get to be part of 215 years of naval history on the most historic warship,” said Cmdr. Matthew Bonner, the ship’s commanding officer. “They get to be part of that legacy that started in 1797 and continues on through today.” Want to join them in Boston Harbor? The following billets aboard the frigate Constitution are available immediately, unless otherwise noted. Most tours last three years: • Chief boatswain’s mate • Yeoman first class • Logistic specialist first class • Mass communications specialist first class (January) • Two boatswain’s mates third class, though any third class petty officer is eligible • Two culinary specialists third class (February) • Damage controlman fireman What didn't they have Dentists onboard back in the day? 171,
Well, they'll certainly try. In some ways, though, Christie is the inverse of Romney. On a gut level, he connects, but then you start looking at policies and talking yourself out of it. Romney, OTOH,made intellectual sense on a certain level, but felt wrong, and conservatives spent the early campaign talking themselve into him (with only mixed success). Regardless, GOP needs a candidate who can connect at the gut level, before another generation of voters concludes that the GOP just isn't right for them. All the policy papers in the world won't change many minds once that happens. Posted by: ZBBMcFate at December 19, 2012 06:31 PM (Hj9yW) 174

@173 Yeah but your problem is that the GOP candidate needs to also connect with their base, and I don't see Christie doing that. I swear the Dems lost two elections in 2000 and 2004 and you did see them going full on moderate. Nope- they ran as far left as they could. Only the GOP shoots themselves in the foot and thinks our principles and policies aren't "good" enough. Christie doesn't believe in the GOP or Conservative principles, so he will not connect with a younger generation, because he can't sincerly defend or explain principles he doesn't believe in. We need someone to connect WHO ACTUALLY BELIEVES THE things they are selling to the public. Not some GOP lite elitist... Posted by: melle1228 at December 19, 2012 07:43 PM (YBi1q) 177
Not only no, but hell fucking no. The last thing the Republican/Conservatives need is another liberal NE govenor to lead them deeper into the wilderness.
