"Jamie Foxx on 'SNL' - 'Great' to Kill White People in New Movie." Factual Weapons For Defending the 2nd Amendment Whenever there's a tragic shooting the Democrat-Media industrial complex always has the same answer - banning guns - despite the Constitution which is like a hundred years old or something. Well Bookworm has done the heavy work of gathering together facts for refuting the usual arguments calling for gun control. Note that the US has a violent crime rate per 100,000 of just 470 which puts us below every single single country in the above list - all of which have far more restrictive gun laws than the US. Read the rest here. It pretty much demolishes the case for gun control and shows that a lot of the 'facts' used to justify restricting guns aren't actually true. Republicans are at their highest level of control of state governments in 60 years and completely control 24 states (governor and legislature). That's a far cry from the suck year of 1976 where the GOP controlled zero states. Obama to Push Gun Control in Second Term Even before Sandy Hook it was already on the agenda according to anti-gun activists: "I am certain Obama thinks our gun laws are insane, and he doesn't ever have to run for office again," said Ladd Everitt, spokesman for the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. "It won't be lost on many people that a sportscaster was willing to speak out about the issue but Obama hasn't found the guts to take on Republicans yet." It's been around since medieval times but didn't become popular until the New World made it its own: Egg-based drinks found new popularity in the American colonies, where nearly everyone had access to cows, chickens, and rum. "Every Thought Doesn't Have to Be Expressed"
So, I'm female and have a female best friend. Nothing fishy. I'm not interesting enough to be non-heterosexual. And just so you know, I tend to talk a lot. Although it's been a lot less in the last few years. Well, said best friend and I have hit and run conversations where she barrages me with rapid fire meaningless details of her day at work, asks me a token question or two, and then goes right back into rapid fire meaningless details. Sigh. I think her husband owes me something for this, since it's pretty apparent I'm doing his job. Posted by: shibumi at December 16, 2012 09:42 PM (z63Tr) 19

I said it was important to realize that things can go bad quite suddenly even when you think you are making a good living, have a nice house, etc. He agreed and then added that he hoped the Tea Party didn't gain power since they wanted the USA to be bankrupt just like the EU. I had spoken with her moonbat father the night before; He said Capitalism and greed is the that has already destroyed America. He voted for Obama so that he might possibly save the dying empire. One of the common arguments that I hear from libs is a variation of "An armed populace can't stand up toa modern military with tanks and APCs and fighters, so there is no longer any need to have military style assault weapons. You can't defend against the government despite your little fantasies."
My prepared response is, "Have you turned on the TV in the last decade? We've spent ten years hunting 14th C. shepherds around an area the size of Texas and we still haven't defeated them. An armed rebellion across an area the size of the US, with access to modern technology and knowledge, would be a nightmare for any military let alone one that was facing defections, desertions, and infilatration by rebels. A little something on the tinsel icicles. You've all seen Patton's prayer for good weather. When the weather cleared, the army air forces showed up in inspiring numbers. My father was there, and says "The sky was black with them." P-47's bombing and rocketing and strafing down on the deck, a solid layer of C-47's kicking out ammo and rations over that, and on top, real Christmasy contrail patterns of the mighty Eighth headed for the supply lines, munitions factories, and Berlin. It may have been the best day the air forces ever had; it was beyond doubt the one most appreciated by infantry.
So, one of the methods used to protect heavy bombers from radio detection was chaff, strips of aluminum foil that returns a lot of noise to radar receivers. On several different mornings, troops on the North Shoulder as well as Bostogne looked out at sunrise and saw the majestic evergreens of the Ardennes festooned with foil strips, just as if someone had decorated them for Christmas. It was inspiring, and spooky. Posted by: comatus at December 16, 2012 10:06 PM (qaVK+) 100

I pull into the gas station tonight right after some dumb bitch literally drove away with the nozzle stuck in her tank---pulled the hose right off the pump and didn't even stop. I thought that shit only happened on TV
Posted by: USS Diversity at December 16, 2012 09:56 PM (MPjT I was just leaving a gas station once and noticed a woman who had pulled up to a pump with her gas spout on the wrong side. I'm watching her try to pull the the hose far enough to get the nozzle into where it needs to go. She's looking down and to her left as she pulls the hose with her left hand while the nozzle is in her right hand pointed skyward. She doesn't realize that because she's pulling hard her right hand naturally clenches and she's in the process of dispensing gallons of gasoline onto the hood of her SUV. First, get the nozzle into the spout before activating the pump. Second, how can someone not realize that gasoline is spraying all over the place? Sense of smell? Sense of hearing? Pffft! Mulled Ale/Wassail is best. Keeps you nice and warm. Core about 5 apples (choose the varieties you prefer) and stuff them with light brown sugar and honey in a baking pan and drizzle on a bottle of brown ale. Cook in over for 1/2 hour at 300 deg F. Add the apples and liquid to five bottles of brown ale and half a bottle of Madiera that have been heated in a crock pot along with allspice, cloves, cinnamon, orange peel, and candied ginger. Yummy. What the gun rights people need to do is start pushing for more gun ownership in the lower income neighborhoods. Push it as a civil rights issue (it is!) and ask people, some of whom are descended from slaves, if they really want to stand silent without the means of self defense that all free men are entitled to ("as endowed by their creator")
Turn this thing around. The "liberal" left has been the slavemaster from the start, and the Dems have been their party. Sure, a lot of people are too indoctrinated and will claim that guns are the cause of violence in the inner city, but I'm guess a lot more will be amenable to the argument that a gun is the best self defense. Our best defense is to make sure it is a civil rights issue instead of 2nd amendment or hunting rights, and that minorities are on our side to protect their right to be fully free men in their own homes and neighborhoods Posted by: Endeavor to Persevere at December 16, 2012 10:27 PM (zZJJp) 196

Went to see Billy Elliot the stage production today. I was very much looking forward to it. I like plays because even though you can see the orchestra, and you know the characters are just actors in costume and makeup on a stage, you still get lost in the spectacle. You feel happiness, pain, sadness, joy. My experience was spoiled from the moment I read the playbill. Complete leftist claptrap.
The play was set in 1980's Britain during the coal miners' strike. Thatcher's government wouldn't back down from the miners' union demands and thus began a year long strike, during which the miners and their families lived in increasingly degrading conditions. The playbill made sure to point out the hundreds of thousands of jobs lost and placed the blame for the collapse of the British coal industry squarely at the feet of Mrs. Thatcher. And what we end up with is the story of a young boy with a natural talent for dance, struggling to find his way through a culture of manly coal miners, punctuated by dances choreographed to "Solidarity Forever" and characters wearing Che t-shirts. Within this celebration of all things socialist, the playwrights even had the audacity to include a number professing that all we need is "individuality." I guess even playwrights will sacrifice their creativity on the altar of ideology. All in, I still enjoyed Billy Elliot, but it sure would be nice to be able to fully succumb to the fantasy and not have the experience tainted by someone using a play as a tool of indoctrination. I wanted to enjoy a play. I had to endure a lecture. Posted by: The Liberty Dude at December 16, 2012 10:37 PM (iAWQF) 254

When I was young, I used to enjoy reading the January issue with the horoscopes for the year (or I should say the "Whoreoscope issue. A friend of mine called it the Slutscope). As I recall, it read "You'll ring in the New Year making hot love to a lusty Aries, but you'll soon tire of his controlling ways and you'll escape his clutches with a handsome Libra you'll meet on the ski slopes in Aspen. But his indecisiveness will get tiresome, and you, you mischievous minx of a Leo, won't be able to resist a quick fling with a hot Scorpio in the elevator at work. On the 20th, you'll be swept off your feet by a handsome Taurus..." According to the Cosmo horoscope, you'd be banging a different guy every 5 days or so... *** Modern monarchies can't work. Monarchy is a very good transition from tribalism/strong man-ism. It provides incentives for one man to break the aristocracy/warlords because it is in his own interest to do so while at the same time restricting him with tradition. But in the modern area where tradition means little and the problem is not petty warlords fighting each other, but the united focus of bureaucrats working together, it is almost the opposite of what will help with our current woes. Egg Nog! My sister in law has a recipe to kill for. She seperates the egg whites and makes a "head" of egg marge on top of a gallon of the stuff. The key is it has to sit in the frig for a week so the bourbon, not rum, festers into it. The head breaks down as you pour it out. Somehow the bourbon breaks down the stuff and it is creamy smooth. They know that they're never going to get EVERYONE'S guns. What they can do is dismantle the cullture. If they institute enough restrictions and requirements, let alone manufacturing and ammo chokes, the may get possession down to what they might consider a manageable hard core of owners. A hell of a lot of people won't have the endurance or fortitude to buck the system for very long, as much as they might want to.

You are not allowed to have any guns even though you legal can but, as someone in you neighborhood is mentally unstable and can not legally have any. They brake into you house when you are not home, blow up your gun safe and get your guns. There is nothing the state can do to the mentally unstable person such as make them take meds or send them to jail or a mental hospital that would violate their civil rights. So you must hand in your current guns you legal have or move out of state and never return under threat of jail time.

Only to have the state pass a heap of additional taxes on booze as a punishment to the voters for daring to vote to disband their control of the liquor business. Oh sure they say they need it to "fund programs" but that's just BS. If they had let things take their course now that liquor was available more places, more would be sold, and they would have gotten the same amount of revenue as their stupid stores used to generate.

Step 1 - nationwide registration of everything. Then anyone who fails to register is an automatic felon and will be dealt with very very harshly to set the stage for Step 2.
Step 2 - Registration lists magically morph into confiscation lists. Westboro are trolls, yes. But they can't have been doing this for so long unless they had support from outside money. That money would belong to interests that had a problem with the US military.
I don't know the exact strategy of the powers behind Westboro, but I'm pretty sure they have a strategy, and I distrust their endgame. Just a feeling. Posted by: boulder hobo at December 16, 2012 10:27 PM (QTHTd) To get your blood worked up a little bit more, Westboro does not thrive on anti-military money. It thrives on the money of the people they f'k over. The scam they have going is that if you win a civil rights case in the U.S., you're entitled to reimbursement by the people you sued or the people who are suing you (this is due to the Civil Rights Attorney’s Fees Award Act of 1976). Since, Phelps, along with a bunch of his kids are lawyers, guess who gets paid? So, what they do is act like total dicks. Get sued or have people try to stop them. Go to court. Collect a paycheck. Rinse. Repeat. Maybe somebody should note this fact over the next few days, publicize it, and do something about it... Posted by: AD at December 16, 2012 10:57 PM (Ysek9) 344

What PA said. Here is my entire point. Once you are a criminal, you have no rights to weapons of any kind. Presto, change-o, we would all be criminals. Tinsel? You mean that aluminized mylar crap they sell now? When I was a kid, every Christmas my grandparents would bring out their LEAD tinsel that they had carefully folded between the pages of a National Geographic magazine the year before, and the year before that, and at least 20 years before that. This stuff did not sway in the breeze whenever somebody walked by, or form a parabola around the branch's locus due to its shear modulus. No, this stuff hung STRAIGHT DOWN, and STAID THAT WAY like ... well, like lead.
Of course, if they tried that today, my grandparents' Christmas would probably be raided by the EPA SWAT Team and they'd be charged with poisoning children and harming the environment. Posted by: Socratease at December 16, 2012 11:03 PM (bXBH/) 374

Two Topeka police officers shot and killed earlier tonight.
This ain't Detroit and a rare occurrence in that town. Two officers died in 2000 in a helicopter crash responding to a robbery call. Before that an officer shot and killed during a drug raid in 1995. Posted by: teej at December 16, 2012 11:23 PM (GnJ7A) 428

After noting all the comments about 'watering down' good scotch, it is distilled off at near 190 proof, then diluted down to around 125 proof for cask aging. After aging, it is again diluted down to 80 proof for bottling.
So that good scotch you are drinking has been diluted (or polluted if you prefer) twice already. http://www.kindredcocktails.com/ingredient/scotch Note -- I prefer my scotch iceless and neat, but it isn't a damn crime to use ice. I always wondered if to battle attempts at gun control it might be possible for gun/ammo manufacturers to refuse to sell to police forces. It might not work against a federal attempt, but I could never figure out why any company would sell guns or ammo (or body armor) to, say, the Chicago police force. Talking guns, how many of you morons went to a college where the campus police carried handguns? I've been to six colleges and as far as I remember only one had armed campus police. The university in my hometown is Wichita State University. They have an actual police department with I think around 10 full time armed officers. Posted by: Samuel Adams at December 16, 2012 10:42 PM (ZOf1l) I went to a small school in rural Virginia, and the two campus cops were armed. To be fair, they weren't campus security but full fledged cops because we were out in the middle of nowhere. The school had gun lockers where we stored our guns, for squirrels and such, and we were supposed to store them there. Being that we were in the middle of nowhere, we hunted a lot, especially in the morning before classes. So the "rule" was that you needed to return your gun as soon as possible, meaning that everyone pretty much just kept them in their trunks until hunting season started or ended, or the semester ended. Usually it was semester end. Posted by: MrCaniac at December 16, 2012 11:37 PM (Zd/NW) Posted by: sven10077 at December 16, 2012 11:37 PM (LRFds) 461

Posted by: Exasperated Expat at December 16, 2012 11:37 PM (gkfSV) A .308 upper and a /223 lower *don't* go together. The M4 is a small/light action for .223, pistol calibers, 7.62x39, and other small cartridges. The lower for a .308 rifle isn't an M4 at all. It's an AR-10/SR-25/LR-8 or whatever. Not compatible. Now, assuming you actually meant a .308-compatible lower, GA Precision, LMT, LaRue are rated pretty well but not cheap. Everyone points to DPMS - but you might get lucky or you might get a "Friday Afternoon Rifle," I have seen both. Also look at FALs and FN SCAR-17S and the FNAL (probably the cheapest of the bunch). "Can't remember the last time I asked my husband what he thought of my hair. Like most men, he prefers it long, no matter how haggish it makes me look. And I like my hair short."
My hair is naturally curly and thick, so when it's long, it's unmanageable and I feel like my face is dwarfed by a mass of curls. (I didn't have to work at having "big hair" in the '80's.) Guys like it long but I have to keep it short(ish) if I want to be able to run a comb through it. Posted by: Donna V. at December 16, 2012 11:52 PM (BStAJ) 514

it would be interesting if it were pointed out that libs and the admin
were only interested when little white children were killed. How many black children have been killed in Chicago? I've been saying that all weekend. And that's not including the 25 adult-on-adult or teen-on-teen shootings on Friday alone in Chicago as a counterpoint. (Despite its municipal gun laws.) Then throw in the Chinese knife attack in a place where they don't have any scruples about locking you up if you're nuts. Posted by: andycanuck at December 16, 2012 11:53 PM (jPVBi) 520

It is a chump's game waiting for the dot-gov to come to you to confiscate your guns. Once they make that decision, it is a declaration of war; one may want to consider going on the offensive.
All these soft handed academics, politicians, and pundits pushing it - knowing they won't be doing the dirty work - might learn their actions have painful consequences. If the police decide to be tools of oppression, they too will might learn that they are vulnerable. Right now, under the current ROE, they operate in a sweet spot: high authority, low personal accountability. If John Q. Public no longer believes in the system, well, that personal accountability part of the equation may change. Not making threats here, just wargaming it out. As you well know, this place has some of the funniest comments I have ever seen. But today I saw a post that made me laugh more than I ever have on this site...Bravo.......Bravo.
Obama was never poor. No, he wasn't, but he was in The Narrative. A regular man of the people. From his autobiography: The details of my life are quite inconsequential... very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it. ~ Shit Obama Could Say and the Press Would Still Insist It's True, Vol. 2 Posted by: Herculean Effort at December 16, 2012 08:13 AM (bS6uW) Posted by: Giselle Bundchen at December 17, 2012 12:03 AM (ZOf1l) 548

Nope, my car just happens to be designed for someone about 3" shorter than me, and my commute makes it almost impossible to get the sun visors to block the sun. Step 1 - nationwide registration of everything. Then anyone who fails to register is an automatic felon and will be dealt with very very harshly to set the stage for Step 2.Step 2 - Registration lists magically morph into confiscation lists. If you can't produce everything you registered, and it wasn't previously reported stolen, then you're a felon and will be dealt with very harshly. This has been the pattern followed world wide.
Posted by: @PurpAv at December 16, 2012 10:54 PM The confiscation thing is probably haggling. They open with a high price and then meet you where they will settle. Registration and limiting access to semi's shotguns and pistols. An active gun grab is expensive and confrontational. Suspect that they will look to grind you down. Eventually they'll get what they want by attrition. You either register or go underground. That, by and large has a similar effect. Once you're a felon facing something like 10 years or some such bullshit, you have to hide the damn things. Then, they become pretty much useless for anything but an all in situation. Can't keep them at your place. Can't carry. The threat of an eventual search becomes too much. Someone will rat you out. Even if you don't have them, anyone who knows something about you can drop a dime on you and say you have them, if you've crossed them. The govt can wait you out. I thought he had to be 21 to buy a gun. At 20 he was too young. Not sure the nut job aspect needed to be in play.

"Sick of it being reported that the CT guns were legally obtained. Yeah.
By the mother. Not by the 20 year old mentally unstable son. He obtained them illegally by stealing them from her. Killed her. And stole her car. But yeah, they were legally obtained guns." Which means that the laws need to improved! We need to make it illegal to shoot your own mother in the face! We need to make car theft illegal! We need to make it illegal to come on to a school grounds and shoot the principal! We need to identify each one of those guns and make them all illegal! That will solve EVERYTHING!!! eleventy! So if that's the definition of legally obtained guns then the Mother Jones stats on most mass shootings guns being legally obtained are, uh, beyond debate.

Q: if we can't stop millions of illegals and drugs at the border, what stops the coyotes and cartels from getting into the gun running business?
They are after all, like any smugglers, basically in the transportation business. The nature of the contraband is immaterial, only its profitability. Posted by: @PurpAv at December 17, 2012 02:12 AM (bbMEH) 706
I thought it was 18/21, PurpAv, but wasn't completely certain in CT. Thanks.

Q: if we can't stop millions of illegals and drugs at the border, what
stops the coyotes and cartels from getting into the gun running business? The US government won't put up with competition. Posted by: Blanco Basura at December 17, 2012 02:43 AM (xKC/c) 711
Who's going to protect you when you can't protect yourself? The government? You mean the same government that carried out the Trail of Tears? The same government that created a million acre permanent lake to deal with a 600k acre once in 500 year flood and deprived the lowland residents of their livelihoods? The same government that confiscated the town of Cades Cove, TN from generations of landowners for pennies on the dollar?
That's just what this country's government has done to my family. What about all the others? Tuskeegee syphyllis experiments, radiation experiments, rampant abuse of eminent domain... And we're supposed to trust these jackals with our safety too? That's crazy talk. Posted by: Cato at December 17, 2012 02:57 AM (WV4rI) 712
Let's put it another way. These people want to turn the entire country into a gun-free zone. Just like Sandy Hook Elementary was.
Posted by: Cato at December 17, 2012 03:06 AM (WV4rI) 713
I think we should put the entire nation as a gun free zone. With big lettering GUN FREE ZONE. Yeah. That's it.
Maybe a red circle with a diagonal slash across a graphic with a gun. And have Sen. Feinstein announce a new law. Or maybe 20 new laws. And let it cost the taxpayers out the ass to enforce it. That will solve everything. Posted by: navybrat at December 17, 2012 03:14 AM (wo54F) 714
I think we should put the entire nation as a gun free zone. Sure, why not? It worked so well with drugs. Posted by: Blanco Basura at December 17, 2012 03:16 AM (xKC/c) 715

If we ban criminals, then nobody would be able to do this sort of horrific thing.
Because while guns are a major -- perhaps overwhelming -- part of the problem, it also takes a criminal to pull the trigger. While we have a second amendment right to own and use guns, we do not have anything enshrined in the constitution about freedom to be a criminal. Therefore there ought to be little problem passing a law banning crime. Posted by: Tom F'n Brady at December 17, 2012 04:21 AM (I2LwF) 717

Great job by the Niners, Cowboys, Seahawks, Packers, Redskins, Broncos, Texans and Falcons. Seriously mannish efforts by all.
Majorly unhelpful Sunday for the Giants, Steelers, Colts, Ravens and Bears, however. The Schedule maker should also get punched for thinking a Jets / Titans matchup would be interesting tonight. Yeah, I know, it sucks, the only choice is research and trying to puzzle out who is a credible source. -waves hand- The problem our country faces, is that it's far easier in most states to buy a large bore, 22 caliber fully automatic bolt action handgun with 500 round clip, than it is to buy a happy meal at your local McDonalds. To make matters worse, these military grade weapons fire solid lead 'cop killer' armor piercing bullets. A single round from one of these dangerous weapons can penetrate 18 inches of solid steel armor plate. The weapons, and ammo of choice of this nations most notorious gangs. Heh, good riff. I saw Obama not too long ago pretending to know what he was talking about, saying that while he was of course down with this country's sacred, time-honored tradition of hunting, we are now dealing with "semi-automatic assault weapons" that should only be in the hands of soldiers, not civilians. So, apparently this genius thinks a rifle that fires a .308 one shell at a time is sacred, time-honored and must be protected, while another that fires a .311 one shell at a time only belongs in the hands of soldiers. I bet that stuttering little prick couldn't tell them apart if I put one of each in his hands.
