BREAKING: Susan Rice Withdraws From Consideration To Be Secretary Of State

In related news...get ready to say hello to Secretary of State John "Global Test" Kerry.

Aww.

In a letter to Obama, Rice said she was convinced her nomination process would be "lengthy, disruptive and costly"

Does this hurt Chuck Hagel's chance to become Secretary of Defense? Diversity and all?

If so, Obama could name Michele Flournoy as the first woman to head the DoD. Honestly, it sounds like Obama could do worse, so he probably will.

As far as Rice goes...she did Obama's biding by reading the talking points on Benghazi on the Sunday shows. Funny thing...she wasn't responsible for the Benghazi security situation or the intelligence about the attack. Those were the responsibility of one Hillary Clinton. She "accepted" responsibility for the lapses from South America but didn't become the face of the cover-up. Rice, who Hillary wasn't a fan of to say the least, loses State and Hillary gets glowing farewells. Moral of the story...do not mess with Hillary Clinton.

He hates Israel:

A quick overview of Hagel’s record with Israel:

In August 2006, Hagel was one of only 12 Senators who refused to write the EU asking them to declare Hezbollah a terrorist organization.
In October 2000, Hagel was one of only 4 Senators who refused to sign a Senate letter in support of Israel.
In November 2001, Hagel was one of only 11 Senators who refused to sign a letter urging President Bush not to meet with the late Yasir Arafat until his forces ended the violence against Israel.
In December 2005, Hagel was one of only 27 who refused to sign a letter to President Bush to pressure the Palestinian Authority to ban terrorist groups from participating in Palestinian legislative elections.
In June 2004, Hagel refused to sign a letter urging President Bush to highlight Iran’s nuclear program at the G-8 summit.
And here’s what the anti-Israel group, CAIR wrote in praise of Hagel: “Potential presidential candidates for 2008, like Hillary Clinton, John McCain, Joe Biden and Newt Gingrich, were falling all over themselves to express their support for Israel. The only exception to that rule was Senator Chuck Hagel…” [Council on American-Islamic Relations, 8/28/06]

100 This is not going to help Republicans at all, the fact that a woman and a

woman of color has been forced out of a confirmation process even

before she was nominated.

Just say we saved her from being treated like Condi Rice .

101 Human nature and the will to survive is what it is. And for every kapo, there were many more righteous people, Jews and Gentiles, who gave their lives to save who could be saved or comfort those who could not be. I try to remember that, mostly.

110 Quick OT:

ESPN’s Rob Parker dropped a bombshell today when he called NFL rookie star and MVP candidate Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III a “cornball brother.” That means, according to Parker, that RGIII isn’t a real black person, and that he might not be “one of us” or “down for the cause.”
What was his justification? RGIII is engaged to a white woman, and could be a Republican.
Seriously.

144 Her nomination process would be "costly"? That's an odd word. Costly how? They've proven themselves unconcerned about money, so that can't be it. And if she has to sit in front of senators who will question her background -- the very thing they've been avoiding for the past 3 months -- she might actually have to answer those questions.

Maybe they can just appoint her "Czar of State".
