Michigate State Democratic Legislators: Gee, Sorry We Told Our Constitutents To Riot

I'm lying, of course.

They didn't apologize at all.

"Right-to-work is contentious legislation that stirs up the passions of people on all sides of the issue. While we are committed to working against these measures with every legal means available, Rep. Doug Geiss (Taylor) and the entire Democratic caucus stands against the use of violence and do not condone its use. We condemn violence, the destruction of property and all other illegal activity in the strongest possible terms. We urge our supporters and those who work for bargaining rights in Michigan to stand with us in our call for nonviolence.”

Then why did you say "There would be blood" given this issue "stirs up the passions" and given that unions are actually known to employ violence in service of political goals?

If You Do Not Submit To My Demands, I Vow There Will Be Blood*

* FYI and BTW, I do not support the vowing of blood.

Now it is also important to draw a distinction between the form of governance known as Democracy and that which is the Democratic process. They favored the Democratic Process, they just didn't favor Democracy itself.

From what little I’ve seen on them, the Michigan police are good. They actually try to educate voters on reasonable speed limits, rather than just giving in to localities wanting to set up speed traps. See link in name for:

The purpose of a speed limit is to provide for the safety of all highway users. To meet this purpose, a speed limit must be acceptable to the public and be enforcable by the police.

And yet, somehow, I'm not surprised that our leader came down on the wrong side of an issue once again. And for a mind-experiment, picture him in office back in the 80's when Lech Walesa effectively broke the strangle hold of the communist overlords through the proliferation of the Polish labor and trade movements.

So, yeah -- that's probably a pretty good example of where O would come out against collective bargaining if it meant weakening the state's grip on the proletariat.

Which brings me to the Middle East. Those people have for generations lived under the rule of their "betters" and the concept of self-determination is alien to them. Lets export the SEIU to organize trade unions over there to do what unions did for the American people back in the 20's and 30's in this country -- give the citizens a sense that they DO have power in their numbers.

Ace has posted it.

Ugh--I didn't realize that was a new video.

99 Only a thousand? You are very optimistic.

The first of many shipments.

100 ...the entire Democratic caucus stands against the use of violence and do not condone its use.

That will innoculate them against any tough questions from the media. Of course, they already were completely safe, but you never can tell when some fool reporter will have not gotten the memo on their actual job description and who they can get pushy with, and who they cannot.

104 Okay, you're seeing this just like you saw in Wisconsin. We need you to wake up and soon. It took about 3 years before your brethren woke up in the 60's. It's been about that long, your turn.

105 Jesus, I double-posted.

I have been here too long.

106 Just curious, is it union membership requirement to be obese, angry, and profane?

Just curious.

Thats why I keep the russian ladies around. They ship them in 2080 round crates for less than I can pick up 1000 rounds of 5.56.

108 I'm thinking of opening a Tilted Kilt franchise in Toledo.

If you look up Monroe MI, Republic Steel, 1937, you'll get to see what happens when Michiganders decide they're against a union. With all the traditional talk about the Overpass, Fisher Body, and Autolite, it makes interesting reading. All local deputized militia, no hired regulators. Shotguns, no National Guard machine guns. And the union is still whining about the ass-whooping they took. Their industry, of course, is long gone.

109 Just saw the video. Yep, that should really endear people to these specific unions. I used to belong to a union, fortunately when they went bad, being in a right to work state, let employees leave the union.

I think its high time, more and more states should be right to work. Of course decent americans want a strong middle class, but these unions are not the unions of decades ago, these unions are just fronts for the undemocratic party.

Ace and his morons will, of course, remain safely ensconced on the sidelines of history, acting like a bunch of middle school pimple-faced goobers.

115 "We condemn violence, the destruction of property and all other illegal activity in the strongest possible terms." Why do I think that is not a synonym for prosecute to the full extent of the law?

116 Who will stop the imperial President? Certainly not the feckless and fearful John Boehner. The Republicants should have elected Newt Gingrich speaker, Constitutionally it could be done. Now that would be something to see, Newt toe-to-toe with Obama. Read fresh political commentary at: small craft advisory chronicles at blogspot.com
