Looking forward to it.

Poor Raylan has the worst luck with women.
Maybe this season that'll change.

6 My kid has been telling me to watch this show. I never have. It's probably really good huh? I should listen to him, he got me hooked on The Walking Dead, so his taste can't suck that much. I wonder if the earlier seasons are on Netflix or something.

14 I watched the first season because I saw it on hulu. I was waiting for the second season and it never showed up, never on the front page. I finally went looking and found that it *was* on hulu but several of the episodes had already timed out and I didn't want to start in the middle. So, I bought the second season on DVD. I haven't watched it yet.

I suppose season 3 is on DVD now?

And I'd want to see season 2 and season 3 before starting to watch season 4.

So...

Are seasons 2 and 3 as good as season 1? Be honest. Did it go in some weird direction?

11Each season is only as good as the new villain. They've had some good ones.

They have to be really bad, bad-waddies...so that Raylan is justified in shooting them.

The episodes where he doesn't get to shoot somebody are kind of disappointing.

20 Pardon my outburst but it's been a shitty day.

I was too exhausted to get out of bed until noon and then still too tired to get much of anything done. I'm tired of being sick and sick of being tired. I'm gaining lots of weight but too damned sick and tired to exercise.

I went through old letters and cards trying to pare down the number of boxes I moved from other house and was reminded of my mother, ex-BFF's, and long lost loves.

THEN, I came upon swimsuit photos from when I was 25 years old.

Yes. Most folks look good at 25, but I was a fucking moron. I turned down modeling jobs because it didn't seem "serious" enough for me and instead ended up working 12-16 hours days for the next 20+ years until I ran my health into the ground. In the process, I missed out on an education and time with my daughter because of my dedication to work.

Hindsight isn't 20/20, it's a mother-fucker.

21 What I liked about season one was how Givens was, in his ex-wife's words, "the angriest person I know," and he couldn't see it. But that he was looking for excuses, essentially. Finding a place where he had permission to shoot people and be "Justified". He and Boyd having dealt with their demons in separate but parallel ways.

But a lot of people watching didn't see that. And it surprised me.

Looking at the trailer I'm thinking that it might be a bit less subtle now?

The relationship between Raylan and Boyd develops further, with some twists and turns...and with each helping the other in different ways.
Ava becomes a fixture.
Winona comes back into the picture a little more.

Nick Searcy...Art Mullen...gets more lines and has more face time.
Which is great.

I've liked every season so far.

As an ex sort of big city cop (380,000 people) I have a rather big disdain for State troopers. I call them glorified traffic investigators. Once when I was a cop, I was pulled over for speeding by a state trooper who decided to lecture me on the evils of driving 10 miles an hour over the speed limit after he knew I was a cop. I proceeded to tell him to not ever lecture me about traffic issues. I also told him that I will see more shit in a day than he will ever see in his whole fucking career and to either write me a ticket or let me the fuck go. He let me go but complained to my supervisor who then told him to fuck off.

NDH-
Getting old is a real kick in the head. I don't feel old in my head, but my body is sometimes betraying me.
It hurts to get old and realize that there is not really much to look forward to, and you start looking back too much, and that sucks too.
I see my sons as young and hopeful about the future (I am not at all optimistic about their future, but then I am not young), and I sometimes wish I could just catch a whiff of that sort of optimism again. That's really what makes you feel "young". The optimism that next week, next year, is just gonna be better.

Only now we know it isn't going to be better.

I'll probably watch a season a day of them, like a long-form movie. That's pretty much how I watched all of Arrested Development and The Sopranos in the course of a few weeks.

My dad was in the funeral business and had opportunity to work with a lot of Highway Patrolmen. Best story he heard was one of these guys pulled over a lady in her 60's for speeding. In the course of making small talk the lady said to the patrolman that he pulled her over because he was only trying to sell tickets to the highway patrolman's ball. The patrolman responded back that no, Highway Patrolmen didn't have balls. He let her go without even a warning.

91 When I look back I have many good memories .... but I still have disgust and regret about all of the time I wasted and the possibilities I threw away.
Then again, I was damned lucky to marry Mr. DeVille. I do mean LUCKY, because I didn't really know what I was doing. And if there had been a way for me to know he would turn out to be the best thing to ever happen to me, I probably would have blown that chance too.

They say you feel better about both the past and the future if you have grandkids. I dunno. In any case, my oldest is 25 and doesn't even have a boyfriend now. What am I gonna do? Drag her down to the docks and wait for the fleet to come in?

97 A ray of hope: perhaps Obamacare can still be stopped in the courts.

Here is an article from American Spectator that points out that the BCRA (a.k.a. McCain/Feingold) was upheld by the Supreme Court, and yet a mere six years later was a dead letter. It was taken apart piecemeal by assorted court cases focusing on specifics, until there was nothing left. The article points out that the opponents of Obamacare are "numerous and determined" and will be tenacious enough to pull the same trick off again.

It ends on a scary note, though, that if Obama gets to appoint another couple of Supreme Court justices, that would pretty much doom us to Obamacare.

I don't watch Justified, but the shows I'm waiting to come back after their various breaks are Breaking Bad, Grimm, Game of Thrones, Once Upon a Time, Bones, Castle, and The Mentalist (which might not be on a break, I don't know).

Those are the only things I can bring myself to watch these days and when I watch Bones I have to grit my teeth and think of David Boreanaz because of just how much the writers SUCK lately.
Breaking Bad I've sort of lost interest in, but now I have to see how it turns out.

If Obama gets to appoint another couple Supreme Court Justices, we're doomed with respect to so much else besides Obamacare, that that'll be the least of our worries. Our chief strategy at that point would be to let Harry Reid go through with his filibuster changes so the dam is broken to the point that when we get back in power we can more easily switch everything back without the filibuster stopping us. In fact, that might be the only way to do things, whatever Reid does.

That's the other solution: just let the changes come quickly and drastically enough that more people realize what a bad idea this was.

Of course, the problem with this and one of the issues with "let it burn" in general is that a political plan base on getting other people to admit they're wrong generally doesn't turn out well.

Still, f'ck it, let it burn.

However, the asshat will probably start advocating that all cars have one of those damn breathalyzers devices installed so there will be no more drunk driving....and then be hailed by MADD as a "visionary".

I just had to hug ya, sister.

A precious friend of mine from first grade had ovarian cancer 4 years ago. She was recently told by her doctor that she needed a CT scan this december, even though she had one in October, because he wasn't sure she would be able to have them at regular intervals in 2013, because of the rules of Obamacare. And then I read a story on Drudge about an illegal who received a free kidney transplant, and was complaining that he didn't get enough care in the US, because people are so mean.

After everything my baby girl and I, and my friend have been through, Breitbart that noise.

And hugs to you NDH. I had a crappy day too, so I empathize. Take a nap, eat something yummy, and start over again tomorrow. We love ya.

165 I have an iPhone, but most of these are available for ipad. Flipboard is interesting for news. I also like Pocket, which lets me save websites for later reading. I have a lot of the apps which are basically websites, like etsy, pinterest, facebook, etc. I'm trying Pageonce, to see if it helps me sort out my finances. Personally, I find the boyfriend's Android phone to be annoying and fussy. I guess it just depends on how you want to work.

Justified is one of the few shows I actually like. I also like Longmire, but haven't heard if it will be back or not. I sometimes get to watch the same show three times as the boyfriend falls asleep when he watches it at night, then falls asleep again when he starts to watch it in the morning. Then he manages to stay awake for it the third time. And that was one of those really crappy fire department shows that makes you want to watch reruns of Emergency instead.

I'm a cheapskate day to day so that I can spurge or not worry on big things that come up so I just take a couple cups from the 10 lb bucket I buy for the horses when I first open it and stir 3/4 tsp in my tea in the mornings. My knees that were bothering me before I turned 40 are fine and dandy now.

We get Angel Tree cards from our church, and provide toys for specific kids. Ours are the children of inmates from a local jail, and the inmate themselves get to give their kids the presents. One of the good things to come out of Watergate, via Chuck Colson.

It was designed for ADD. It increases circulation in your brain and helps you think clearer. I take these during the week and they help prevent brain fog. Got both from my naturopathic doctor, who has been a lot more helpful than my regular doctor.

Oh and take DHEA at night! Women should do a low dose of about 5mg, but men can do 25mg or more. It really helps you sleep and also helps hormonally. And that's my advice for the night.

241 #237, you are trading speed for a lower gas/electric bill. It's the appliance equivalent of driving slower to get better gas mileage.

242 irongrampa, I am in El Lay. Local is not, perhaps, the same as where many of the fine folks of MoronNation are. I can't just do nothing. I have a good and generous heart. I just wish a whole lotta things were very, very different than they have turned out to be. That and 7 bucks will get me a coffee at starbucks. People have worse problems, I'm just being curmudgeonly.

243 I'm feeling some of the malaise right now, just like everyone else.

ace said something along the lines of "We'd told ourselves we only had to hold on until January 2013, and things would get better. Now we've lost that, and saying 'Hold on until January 2017 is just too depressing.'" That's how I've felt since the election. I feel like we're Britain after WWII--tired of everything and willing to settle for less as long as we can get some free stuff.

And that's when I'm feeling optimistic. When I'm feeling pessimistic, I think about the tyrant's increasing tyranny. Forcing the Catholic Church to provide birth control and abortafacients for its employees. Cameras everywhere. Drones everywhere. Kill lists. Seeking unlimited power over the debt and the filibuster. Black boxes in cars. An archive of all text messages and e-mails. A weak and corrupt opposition that cares only for power. A government encroaching into every aspect of our lives. And there's no place to go--no country where freedom isn't on the retreat. Part of me thinks it will be sort of interesting to live through such downfall, if we do live through it.

Screw it--gonna get drunk and watch the extended versions of Lord of the Rings.

I have them in three 4-DVD sets (2 DVDs for each extended version, 2 for lots of extras). I don't have an HD TV, so I guess Blue Ray would be lost on me. I'm a huge nerd and do like the extended versions--the theatrical version seems absurdly truncated after you've seen them (if you like the subject matter). It's a sad story, in many ways, but it does seem to psyche one up to fight evil against insurmountable odds.

I want it to die, which means it'll still be running strong 10 years from now. On the other hand, a member of my family has the same model, and it crapped out after 3 years, so maybe I won't have to wait that long (mine is two years old). Or maybe I'll unplug it from the surge protector and let nature take its course.

HD really does make a difference--I marvel at it every time I'm at a store that's selling them.
