I am thinking now that Nikki Haley would be better because she has had to fight The State newspaper her whole term so she is used to bare knuckle rounds.

I dunno, but Frank Murkowski lost his GOP primary for reelection to the governorship of Alaska largely because the state was still enraged over the way he appointed his daughter Lisa Murkowski to the Senate seat he himself vacated to take the governor's seat. He did that in 2002, and the people didn't forget -- he finished THIRD in his primary in 2006, losing to...Sarah Palin.

Yes, Reid is such a moron that not only is he MAJORITY leader, but he beat DeMint's candidate Angle. Nice of DeMint to promote a surefire loser to challenge his good friend. DeMint also said he'd rather have 40 Rubios than 60 Specters. Mind you, Rubio is about to become public enemy n�mero UNO for pushing "amnesty." He will probably turn out to not have a birth certificate when he announces his run in 2016. But what DeMint said won't matter then. If so, this may be the reason not much was found in the way of WMD by victorious U.S. forces in 2003.

In 2006, former Iraqi general Georges Sada, second in command of the Iraqi Air Force who served under Saddam Hussein before he defected, wrote a comprehensive book, "Saddam's Secrets."

It details how the Iraqi Revolutionary Guard moved weapons of mass destruction into Syria in advance of the U.S.-led action to eliminate Hussein's WMD threat.

As Sada told the New York Sun, two Iraqi Airways Boeings were converted to cargo planes by removing the seats, and special Republican Guard units loaded the planes with chemical weapons materials.

Iraq's WMD went to fellow Baathist Syria, like we knew. Which are now gonna be used against their own people. Super.

It is naive to pretend it doesn't matter.

It matters. Not to us, but to the other guys, and to pretend he isn't black is to fail to prepare for the inevitable attacks.

It also fails to address the eagerness of those who do vote on race alone to see a black man elected to the Senate.

He isn't being selected because he is a black man, but HE IS a man who is also black.

For that reason he will be called an Uncle Tom and a sellout. Others, however, will choose to vote for him because he is black.

153 I live outside Scott's district, but near enough to his base in Charleston to have watched him come up through local government over the years. This guy is the Real Deal, not an ounce of phony in him, common-sense "movement" conservative through and through.

I think Heritage is making a mistake. DeMint is a great conservative Senator, but has no management experience to run a big organization. We would have been best off with him remaining in the Senate. Scott is the runaway best choice to succeed him (since Mark Sanford wouldn't consider a return to DC), and his district is one of the safest.
