After thinking about it for a while I am not sure that is the right pick. Neither is Trey Gowdy. Although they are both ideal conservatives, they are also both newbies and thus more subject to be cooped to the go along to get along crowd in the Senate.
I am thinking now that Nikki Haley would be better because she has had to fight The State newspaper her whole term so she is used to bare knuckle rounds. And in case you non-SC people missed it she actually told one State Newspaper turd to take a hike. No more interviews at all. That is what we need in the Senate. Let Trey and Tim get some seasoning and then primary Graham. Posted by: Vic at December 06, 2012 01:00 PM (YdQQY) 46

I dunno, but Frank Murkowski lost his GOP primary for reelection to the governorship of Alaska largely because the state was still enraged over the way he appointed his daughter Lisa Murkowski to the Senate seat he himself vacated to take the governor's seat. He did that in 2002, and the people didn't forget -- he finished THIRD in his primary in 2006, losing to...Sarah Palin. Posted by: Jeff B. at December 06, 2012 01:08 PM (TuW+p) 81

Yes, Reid is such a moron that not only is he MAJORITY leader, but he beat DeMint's candidate Angle. Nice of DeMint to promote a surefire loser to challenge his good friend. DeMint also said he'd rather have 40 Rubios than 60 Specters. Mind you, Rubio is about to become public enemy número UNO for pushing "amnesty." He will probably turn out to not have a birth certificate when he announces his run in 2016. But what DeMint said won't matter then. From Investors Business Daily
War On Terror: As the regime of Bashar Assad disintegrates, the security of his chemical arsenal is in jeopardy. The No. 2 general in Saddam Hussein's air force says they were the WMDs we didn't find in Iraq. King Abdullah of neighboring Jordan warned that a disintegrating Syria on the verge of civil war puts Syria's stockpile of chemical weapons at risk of falling into the hands of al-Qaida. "One of the worst-case scenarios as we are obviously trying to look for a political solution would be if some of those chemical stockpiles were to fall into unfriendly hands," he said. The irony here is that the chemical weapons stockpile of Syrian thug Assad may in large part be the legacy of weapons moved from Hussein's Iraq into Syria before Operation Iraqi Freedom. If so, this may be the reason not much was found in the way of WMD by victorious U.S. forces in 2003. In 2006, former Iraqi general Georges Sada, second in command of the Iraqi Air Force who served under Saddam Hussein before he defected, wrote a comprehensive book, "Saddam's Secrets." It details how the Iraqi Revolutionary Guard moved weapons of mass destruction into Syria in advance of the U.S.-led action to eliminate Hussein's WMD threat. As Sada told the New York Sun, two Iraqi Airways Boeings were converted to cargo planes by removing the seats, and special Republican Guard units loaded the planes with chemical weapons materials. Iraq's WMD went to fellow Baathist Syria, like we knew. Which are now gonna be used against their own people. Super. Posted by: Thunderb at December 06, 2012 01:16 PM (Dnbau) 113

**** No. The trap is in pretending race does not matter. This is not an ideal world. He isn't being selected because he is a black man, but HE IS a man who is also black. For that reason he will be called an Uncle Tom and a sellout. Others, however, will choose to vote for him because he is black. I think Heritage is making a mistake. DeMint is a great conservative Senator, but has no management experience to run a big organization. We would have been best off with him remaining in the Senate. Scott is the runaway best choice to succeed him (since Mark Sanford wouldn't consider a return to DC), and his district is one of the safest.
