What If: The 2nd American Civil War

This time it's a state free-for-all not just presidents. From a Quora thread written in World War Z-style:

All 50 of the states in America each declared independence, and all simultaneously declared war on each other (50 states in a free-for-all).

Which state would be the last one standing? How would the battle play out? Which states would be the first to fall, the last?

A few points:
    - No foreign intervention/aid.
    - All civilians would be involved in the war (either producing supplies and food, and actually fighting).
    - Consider domestic factors (X state has x many firearm manufacturers, etc).
    - Military bases belong to the state.
    - Preferably no nukes, but hey however you want to answer.
First came a period of massive migration back to the homelands. Facing the newly invented discrimination that will be created many felt the need to go back to their own people. While the individual states retained all military assets they couldn't control the individuals who fight. A Texas Marine stationed in California, would not fight for California. A soldier in New York would not fight against their home in Virginia and a sailor in Houston would not fight against their home state of Florida. The warriors returned to their home states and the states had to re-consider that when they measured troop strength of their new nations.

The End Result of Progressive Taxes: Just 144,000 Households in CA Pay 50% of all Taxes

Since California has a population of around 38 million, that means each one of these households is covering the tax cost for 132 California residents. Now you might think they'd get a little respect for basically keeping CA going fiscally but of course not - they're demonized and despised and the CA government is doing everything it can to drive them to other states.

Coming soon to a federal government near you.

Buckley, Kerouac, Sanders and Yablonsky Discuss Hippies

The Simplicity of the Impossible

How Marine Pfc. Hector Cafferata single-handedly held the line against repeated Chinese human wave attacks.

"It must have been around 1:30 a.m. I was zipped up in my sleeping bag lying out on the frozen ground behind some rocks and pine trees we'd cut and put up as a wind break. My buddy, Kenny Benson, was next to me in his sleeping bag. We heard some rifle fire and a machine gun open up. I realized this was for real," said Cafferata, who now lives in Venice, Fla.

"I unzipped my bag and grabbed my M-1 rifle. There were Chinese all around us. I shot five or six right in front of me immediately.

"I said to Benson, 'What are you doing?"

"'Putting on my boots,' he replied.

"'Forget the boots. Start shooting,' I said."

He grabbed his Browning Automatic Rifle, but it was frozen. It was 20 degrees below zero and nothing made of steel operated well in such severe temperatures.

"There were Chinese all around us, so I knew we had to get the hell out of there. Benson and I started crawling back toward our lines. I wasn't sure where we were."

The Great Korea-Japan Sex Toy War

Thanks to the ongoing arms race in Asia the odds of a decent sexbot just went up.

Sex products from Korea are known for being of a particularly unique nature, but when it comes to quality they do not hold Japan's candle.that is, hold a candle to Tenga, the nation's top tool-maker for self-tugging, reports Sapio (December).

The monthly magazine traces the evolution of sex gear in Korea by starting with the Dream Love Chair, a copulating contraption taking up space in many of Japan's love hotels.

...Since Tenga launched its first models in Japan on July 7, 2005, its products have gone on sale in over 40 nations, with more than 20 million units shipped.
In the development of the Kinsey, HEPS looked to Tenga. "When I saw the Tenga, its amazing design and quality of materials left me stunned," says the HEPS representative. "Since there were no outstanding products coming from Korea, I thought that we could develop our own."

Are Head and Tails Really 50-50?

Nope - initial conditions matter:

According to Diaconis, a natural bias occurs when coins are flipped, which results in the side that was originally facing up returning to that same position 51 per cent of the time. This means that if a coin is flipped with its heads side facing up, it will land the same way 51 out of 100 times.

Diaconis came to this conclusion after determining that no matter how hard a coin is flipped, the side that started up will spend more time facing up most of the time.

The Awesomeness of Bill Murray

A snippet from a recent NYT interview:

Mr. Murray, having changed his shirt but still in the blue shorts, leaves the hotel and boards a chauffeured S.U.V., where the conversation continues.
Q. It sounds as if you also wanted to convey Roosevelt's voice as much as his physical presence.
A. We had a discussion about it, and we agreed that you don't want to do an impression. You want to get it in you, and then you want to play - - [The car is suddenly cut off by another vehicle.] That person was insane. [To his driver] Well-avoided, Mustafa. But you can bump her now. She's got it coming.

3 An American Fool Abroad... Ought To Just PARTY HARD?
More: http://politicalhat.com/?p=677

While many in America voted for Obama for free stuff or out of class/race/gender hatred, there are those who believe that an “internationally” minded President with a childhood free from that pesky American society and culture, via either Indonesian residency or being coddled domestically in the ivory towers of the pinkest satrapies, would be able to eschew all those evil American stereotype and act more like everyone else does to achieve some type of blissful consensus of the international community.

Even as his “lead from behind” strategy draws belittlement at home, it is indeed seen favorably abroad. This is not because the world leaders are glad that we can all come together is some glorious consensus and unity of mankind, but because they know that such drivel is idiotic, and that Obama is the idiot they get to play with like a cat with a mouse.

The disconnect between the utopian international Progressive left in America and the realpolitik of practically every other nation on earth is so stark, that the American left still believes that Obama has successfully “hit the reset button” even as the world mocks and laughs at America.

The rest of the world knows that Obama is a failure and also a fool that they can take advantage of. The belittlement has gotten to the point where it is open and insulting. Recently, Cambodia’s first lady mocked Obama with a “greeting that’s meant for servants.”

Obama and the American voter have also been openly belittled in Russia. Pravda (far more reliable now-a-days than the American legacy media), has stated that “Obama has been re-elected for a 2nd term by an illiterate society and he is ready to continue his lies of less taxes while he raises them.” They go on to say:

“They read history in America don’t they? Alas, the schools in the U.S. were conquered by the Communists long ago and history was revised thus paving the way for their Communist presidents. Obama has bailed out those businesses that voted for him and increased the debt to over 16 trillion with an ever increasing unemployment rate especially among blacks and other minorities. All the while promoting his agenda.”

Just to underscore the pathetic nature of the Obama administration, Obama was planning to reach out to the Middle East in truly “interesting way”: By sending rocker Andrew W. K. to Bahrain to “share his music and partying with the people there.”

Alas, the Obama administration had a change of heart:

Twitter genius Iowahawk opined how this was one of the better ideas Obama has had:

Posted by: BCochran1981 at December 04, 2012 10:37 PM (GEICT)

18 The break apart scenario described is rather silly - but one could expect the American South, Texas, and the MidWest to form a coalition facing two socialist states.

With the advantage of military experience and interior lines, the war would be over soon, and on the non-socialist state's terms - likely extremely lenient. A breakaway constitutional republic would have 0 interest in absorbing back a large number of socialist voters.

A far more likely case is that Texas breaks away and the US lets it go. Within a few years much of the South and MidWest leave the US to join the booming economy of the Republic of Texas. The Old US collapses into fiefdoms organized around strongmen.

Facebook is a plot by leftist corporatists to data mine information about your personal life to market all kinds of shit (especially Obama, who is really a big pile of shit) and manipulate you endlessly.

Whatever you may think of how Facebook lets you "connect" with family and friends, it's fundamentally a tool to invade your privacy and then find out how to manipulate you.

46 Which state has the most ICBM's?

Posted by: Seamus Muldoon at December 04, 2012 10:44 PM (1OZSU)

47 To help in answering the civil war question...

The South is over-represented among military recruits. It provided 42.2 percent of 1999 recruits and 41.0 percent of 2003 recruits but contained just 35.6 percent of the population ages 18-24. However, other regions also provide a higher proportion of enlistees. The states with the highest enlistment proportional ratings by far are Montana (1.67), Alaska (1.42), Wyoming (1.40), and Maine (1.39). (A proportional rating of 1.00 means that a state's enlistee and general populations ages 18-24 are exactly proportional to their respective national populations.)

[...]

On the state level, 20 states and the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico were underrepresented with proportional ratios below 1.0. Table 6 provides complete state-level data. Of note, this table shows that certain states had a higher enlistment proportion after the terrorist attacks. One might expect the states where the attacks took place to respond with higher enlistment proportions. On the contrary, New York's enlistment proportion ratio was 0.86 in 1999 and 0.79 in 2003. In Virginia, the ratio dropped from 1.27 to 1.23.

Due to the lack of comparable data for other years, it is unclear whether this movement is significant or even suggestive of a pattern. However, states with the most positive upward movement in their enlistment ratios after the war on terrorism began were Iowa (+0.21), Wisconsin (+0.17), Kansas (+0.16), Washington> (+0.15), and Arizona (+0.14).

The problem with just designating where stuff's based is that you need people to man your military equipment. If the people currently manning it bail for their own states, all bets are off. That's why I think a state like TX, which has a bunch of people who'd man the equipment makes more sense. CT's best bet is just using all the money from the finance guys based there to hire a bunch of mercenaries.

Can we add in alliances, though? Clearly a bunch of states would just ally with each other?

121 Some thoughts on a second civil war:

1) California will be unable to expand east of the Rocky Mountains. They'll either have to attack through Arizona and New Mexico, which means facing off against Texas with very unfavorable conditions, with armored units, or trying to get forces over mountain passes that a single platoon can hold against a brigade. Either way is not fun. They'll take parts of Utah, but not much. Western Oregon will fall, but Eastern Oregon will likely be left to it's own devices.

2) I expect that Texas will take everything from Wyoming down to New Mexico, and then east all the way to the Mississippi River. This leaves them with a huge amount of farmland and natural resources.

3) Canada will grab what it can along it's southern border, probably including parts of Washington, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Michigan. Maybe even Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

4) New York will expand south and west, seizing Ohio and the surrounding region. They may even look to become an independent province of Canada.

5) The South will form a regional government, and likely look to unite, or at least ally themselves, with the Texas/Midwest government.

6) I expect that any civil war will see a surge in Mexican nationalists, including violence and uprisings in California, Texas and the SW. The Mexican Army will seize El Paso as the US Army withdraws.

Posted by: Alex at December 04, 2012 11:22 PM (HwgHt)

122 What would happen if the 50 states broke up? Let's dispense with the "no foreign intervention" schtick.

Washington, Oregon, Alaska, California and Hawaii would all initially go the independent route. Montana, Idaho, Wyoming would form a coalition. Utah would maintain it's independence and absorb western Colorado and Eastern Nevada. Las Vegas would succeed and declare itself an independent state (50/50 chance that they'd be absorbed by California). Arizona & New Mexico would also go indie. Texas also.

Many of the southern states outside of Florida would go the CSA route. The Farm belt states would form a coalition (including easter Colorado, leaving the left in Colorado with a rump state). Vermont and Maine would petition to join Canada. NH would go indie. MA, CT, and RI would form a New England confederation.

Most of Illinois would succeed from Chicago. Michigan would kick out Detroit. The non-Chicago/non-Detroit states of Illinoi and Michigan would join with Wisconsin, Indiana and Ohio in a confederation. Pennsylvanida will be paralyzed from the fighting between Philie and the rest of the state. New York state outside of NYC will try to break away, and NYC will try to keep their water supply and let the rest go.

Then things get bad. Florida and Cuba get into a little war. Mexico tries to annex Arizona and New Mexico. The People's Republic of California will self-destruct and be quarantined by the rest of the state. Russia will invade Alaska. Eastern WA and OR will join the ID/MT/WY confederation. Seattle and hippie-Oregon areas will petition to join Canada. Hawaii will become a vassel state of Communist China. Texas and Arizona will be at war with Mexico.

At this point the UN declares the U.S. to be a failed state and UN peacekeepers invade from Canada. Invaded areas will be "re-educated" and hundresd of thousands of Americans will be tried for "crimes" at the Would Court.

Euopre becomes so weakened that a Muslim revolt succeeds. China turns California into a client state. A fragile peace settles over a broken America, with left-leaning areas being annihilated.

The rest of what was America forms an alliance. Their socialist-free countries become economic powerhouses and set-up a large standing army to keep everyone else at bay.

126 The 2nd civil war thing has major socioeconomic and cultural flaws. If you think for one second the Mormon mountain enclave of Utah Idaho, western Wyoming, western Colorado, western New Mexico and eastern Arizona is getting broken up by California you're brain dead. Regional groupings based on common religion, linguistics, economics would be the first things formed. Even if only based on mutual self interest. In such a scenario regional groupings would matter much more than state boundaries. For example Las Cruces, New Mexico would be much more likey to align with El Paso than Farmington, New Mexico.

40k is the per capita income of Manhattan--and the median household income there is...also 40k. That's an unusual enough stat to make a "40,000" get stuck in somebody's head.

The thing is, not many high-income people actually live there. It's more broke drudges and wealthy-beyond-taxation Bloomberg types than people with decent jobs. So the income tax distribution is probably strange.

Anecdotally, the one high-income friend I have there, he lives in a TV-show-set-in-Manhattan type apartment that, because he Knows A Guy, he gets a tax credit for renting it, and it fully offsets his city income tax.

It's Chinatown.

Actually, I expect many of the state governments to actively seek Canadian protection. If you were North Dakota would you prefer to try and survive on your own, or become a province of Canada and be safe to continue exporting oil and gas? The same with Washington state. I don't expect the Canadian government to be in the mood to seize too much, but there will be pressure to create a buffer between Canada's major population centers and the fighting in the US.

Then there's families like mine that a few years ago whose members were in 5 different states.

Does a family who lives in Florida fight their relatives in New York or Michigan? Does someone in Texas fight California relatives?

157 Actually, I expect many of the state governments to actively seek Canadian protection.

Nukes are going to be of limited value. You can't hold territory, and delivery will be tricky, especially if you only have ICBMs that are built to shoot at targets on the far side of the globe.

172 re: "In NYC, don't 40,000 tax payes pay 50% or 90% of the taxes? I know the 40k number is good, just don't remember the % "

195 Agreed. California will not survive. No water. Not nearly enough food (they grow a lot of bullshit like lettuce, but the real calories come from the Midwest and Great Plains).

Canada also does not survive. They're basically a leech attached to the Northern tier of states, and have essentially no ability to defend themselves (the Canadians have good soldiers, but they don't have nearly enough of them). Something like 90% of them live within a hundred miles of the U.S. border.

Best outcome: they get absorbed by one of the new nations. Worst outcome: Alberta through Manitoba become People's Collective Wheat Farm #235.

How to take over Canada in easy steps:

1) Bomb Toronto flat. Likewise Ottawa, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Calgary...
2) Bomb all bridges on the Trans-Canada Highway and CN railroad.
3) Bomb all hydro dams and pipelines.
4) Wait one winter.
5) Move in and shoot the few remaining starving, cannibalistic survivors.

209 I saw Ace talking earlier about Hollywood, and about shows on FX, and I wanted to share my thoughts on the subject. FX has some really good sitcoms, IMO. I'm in the process of haunting my local Best Buy to get at least the first season of every FX sitcom, as they're on sale cheap there. Here's what I've seen so far:

The League (seasons 1-3): My favorite so far. I like fantasy football, and these guys talk trash a lot more than we do in my league, but it's very funny. It's also looking like the raunchiest of the FX sitcoms. I've seen nudity and simulated sex, in addition to lots of cussing and people just being sort of horrible. Some of you aren't into that; I understand that, and it's cool. I've also seen a couple of Moron Horde in-jokes on the show, which I found most delightful. Specifically, I've seen a pointy elbows joke and a sex with garbage joke, both in season 3. Big thumbs up in my book.

Archer (seasons 1-2): Animated James Bond spoof. Also hilarious. Pretty raunchy, and, yeah, again, everyone's a horrible person. The writers' understanding of basic geopolitical knowledge is surprisingly accurate. They correctly point out that Fidel Castro hates gay people way more than anyone of the American right does, for example. Good stuff overall; another thumbs up from me.

Louie (season 1): It's, um, Louis CK being Louis CK. Sometimes it's really funny; sometimes it's just disturbing. It seems to tend more toward the latter. He spends the entirety of one episode straight-up stalking a woman who has zero interest in him, and has no problem telling him so. He continues to stalk her. At the end of that episode, he's rewarded for it with sex from her sister. Overall, I give the series a thumbs down.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia (season 1 and part of season 2): It's like a slightly raunchier Seinfeld. Three longtime friends own a dive bar, with the sister of one of them working as a waitress there. The four of them get into all sorts of trouble trying to improve their situation through underhanded means. They fight amongst themselves a lot, but they remain friends through it all. It's a lot of fun so far. Thumbs up.

I think having the US break up may be the worst thing for the international America haters. So long as the red states did not get nuked in the first few years by the commies it would likely have the effect of freeing up a lot of "yankee ingenuity" and stifiled capitalist energy which would ride roughshod across the globe having it way with socialist and communist countries everywhere.

237 1) Bomb Toronto flat.
Wait for me to get out first, at least.

And remember the scenario is about separate states (or federations of states as suggested here) and not a united America reacting.

Are your northern midwest and western states all that populous too? And populous states like NY and IL might have more to worry about from their south than their north.

Assuming there'd be a fair bit of warning time we could probably build nukes in time (at least dirty bombs and those could be done quickly); Britain's nukes on our side might happen; and destroying our infrastructure like hydro, natural gas and oil (especially the hydro) would hurt your states alot too.

And no I don't think we'd be trying to pick up any U.S. states to
start a war anyway. Although maybe allowing smaller states in like from
New England or the NW corner to join might be possible although I don't
know how likely.

I think we'd mainly be worried about refugees.

I don't know if Mexico would be stupid enough to get involved directly but maybe they'd work indirectly to push the La Raza agenda.

And now to catch up on all the comments I've missed spending 15 minutes typing this and having a couple of drinks.

Sorry... I wasn't talking about America necessarily. I was thinking of what the Chinese might do after America was no longer there to get in the way. Y'all have a lot of good farm land and natural resources, and they have a lot of people.

I don't knowthat anyone, other than possiblyCalifornia, gives Texas a run for its money in Civil War 2.0. Why? Refineries. Texas has more refineries than any other state, and could make a quick grab of Louisiana, which would give Texas control over nearly 50 refineries, including the four largest in the U.S., and well over 1/3 of all ofthe refining in the U.S.
Without foreign intervention, the inability to produce and refinegasoline is going to be a major hindrance to a number of states, including Virginia (0 active refineries); New York (0 refineries); and Florida (0 refineries).

246 Canada will not do anything. Their active duty military is the same size as the MN National Guard. Not joking, around 16k pax. Good troops, I did the maple defender exercise up there with them a couple years ago. Also, ten years ago they de-milled all of their leopard tanks and they have to rent their chinook choppers from the dutch to use in a-stan because they don't have any of their own.

And Rice? She addressed the country five days after the Benghazi attacks, at a time when the classified reporting was filled with information about the al Qaeda ties of the attackers. Was it another failure to communicate? Or was she sent out to sell a story she knew wasn’t true?
“She was far too ready to go on and be a political operative,” says Corker. Rice’s appearance came a little more than a week after the Democratic convention, where speaker after speaker praised the president for crippling al Qaeda and bringing the war on terror to an overdue end.
As Obama said himself: “We’ve blunted the Taliban’s momentum in Afghanistan, and in 2014, our longest war will be over. A new tower rises above the New York skyline, al Qaeda is on the path to defeat, and Osama bin Laden is dead.”
How would it look if a group “on the path to defeat” staged a sophisticated attack that took the life of a U.S. ambassador? Not great. We end, then, where we started—with lots of questions. Who wrote the talking points? Who edited them? Why? And why have top U.S. officials had so much trouble simply telling us what happened? The truth is rarely so complicated.

Sorry, I misread you. I don't think the Chinese, as someone mentioned above about them seizing CA, have the navy to do that... yet.

And apparently in Oz even the leftie Australian Labor Party agrees that if they're ever not under the U.S. nuclear umbrella that they'll make their own nukes. And maybe the Royal Navy will flee to Oz (and Canada?) after the muzzies take over so that would help them too. The rest of SEATO would be around too and maybe India would go after the Chinese too especially if the Chinese were stretched too far trying to make their own Pan-Asian C-Prosperity Sphere.

BTW, these all sound like some good wargaming scenarios whether map-based or model-soldier based (or mixed).

313 Re: the Buckley show with Kerouac et al. (Even Ginsberg showed up.): "From a single droplet of water, the logician can infer the possibility of a Niagara." --E.A. Poe's C. Auguste Dupin. Add this show with a competent understanding of the political ferment around Bryan and Free Silver, and you get the political possibilities of today.
Kerouac self-identifies as a Catholic. We know he fucked a Mexican (therefore not a racist). I always thought his "Desolation Angels" was an important document. (Maybe not on the scale of Roth's Die Flucht ohne Ende, 1927, but nonetheless seminal.)
Yeah, the Commie-fag-junkies hijacked Flower Power, which on some levels can be seen as the natural revulsion of Free People against the excesses of The State, like the Draft Riots of 1863. Btw, N.Y. and Chicago are still Fascist states.

315 Another note on Hollywood with all its big-budget movies... I think they really like spending that much. You think you indie producers can do better for less? Good luck."

So, let me give you a little example of what pushed me over the edge.....I live in the very nice little city of Santa Clara. One of the city councilmen used to live across the street. I like my neighborhood, and there is a good mix of city services that are well performed. I've remodeled my house a bit, and the permits and inspections guys are friendly and professional. Now, because we've got some nicely-located undeveloped property, there's this proposal to move the 49ers to a new stadium in my city. This sort of thing must be approved by a vote, so they put out this proposal -- although they claimed "no city money, no city money", it raided city utility funds of about 1/2 of their reserve balance.....which I didn't like at all, being that I was relying on them having reserves so that I'd have power to rebuild my own place the next time a fault cuts loose nearby. It also said, "the 49ers will eat all cost overruns". It passed, by something like a lousy 600 votes.

So then they go to contract and -- voila! There is a bond issue of $4000 per living soul in the city that will be paid off by bottling unicorn farts and selling them as air freshener, with city taxpayers serving only to guarantee this absolutely secure proposition. Oh, and any cost overruns from the vote to when the contract is finalized?.....those are not the cost overruns the 49ers are looking at.
Turns out there's a thing where 10% of the voters of a previous deal can protest if a situation goes awry......so I was out collecting signatures. The unions were against us. The city council was against us. The 49ers did home appearances to rally people against signing the petition......but we got the signatures.
And the city blew that off. Just fucking blew it off.

Laws don't matter any more here. Only Progressives matter. And spite. Leftists might be a minority, but they own the institutions -- the courts, the cops, the bureaucrats. Every level of government, from the Feds to the State to the dogcatchers. Every branch.
We could be a helluvan insurgency, all right -- but it'd have to begin with an unacceptably bloody purge. And even then, it's unlikely that the population would rally around freedom. It should, BTW, be noted that the 1860 census had the population of the entire United States at 31,443,321.....and the 2010 census has the population of California at 37,253,956 -- we could end up with Sherman's March through Orange County.

He likewise.

He sent me the book about the Fox Company ordeal. You can find it on abebooks.com.

The Last Stand of Fox Company A True Story of U.S. Marines in Combat

At first, I have to say, it was rough going for a person who has never been in combat. Troop movements, emplacements, the field of battle, logistics etc. Lots to sort out.

But if you keep reading, you develop a mental map of the terrain in your head (just as you do in some video games), and with each new ChiCom assault you understand what extraordinary leadership and individual courage was required from our guys.

A very good read.

We wear woolly socks, woolly shirts, woolly woollies

And we go in the sauna with no clothes on-a

And if the boys look we don't care

We've got liberated views on who's lovin' whose

And we don't shave our armpit hair!

432 Actually, I see states banding together with common interests. In the beginning, it will be a pushback against unfunded mandates for Obamacare to the states. It will escalate from there. O is trying to emasculate the military and purge leadership. There will be serious constitutional crises, and the military will have to choose between the Commissars or the Constitution, which they have sworn to protect.

It will get ugly, but we will be getting down to basics as to what is really important. Protecting NYC and Hollywood will be low on the priorities.
1. You make yourself strong and do what is meaningful to you.
2. You make your family strong and meaningful.
3. You make your community strong. Community means everything from your neighbors with common interest to your town.
4. You make your state strong, if your state is worth saving. Better get a place that is worth saving.

It starts from the bottom up.

451 So who won?

Posted by: Vic at December 05, 2012 07:03 AM (YdQQY)

452 Good morning!

Hey 'roons, I seriously need some feedback on an idea.

Mark Levin said something on his show of 12/04 that totally jibes with this notion I had over at Scoops. { here--> http://tinyurl.com/a73uslq }
So far, folks are liking it, but they aren't beating it up hard enough to really test the notion, so I'm looking for the Moron horde's input. You guys will hunt anything, in season or out.

Anyhoo, Levin had Sen. Jim Demint on, and Mark said something that amazed me, really. He actually said,

"Do you agree with me--know I know it's far ahead--but for 2016 we conservatives (had) better get behind one conservative, or they're gonna pick us apart and slip somebody through.

Mr. DeMint answered, "I think you're exactly right... (some stuff about his upcoming work, also he thinks conservative principles still work to win elections) ...but most of all we need to organize, and get behind the right candidate for 2016."

Now I love Levin's take on things, generally, and I'm on the same page as he is, philosophically speaking, but I beat him up in comments at Scoop's and here and McCain's place for the "orange juice can" idea, that he started in 2010 (I believe). I said, to anyone who'd listen: "This is a terrible idea: make them fight for your vote all the way up till the Convention. Don't telegraph the RINO's that you'll get behind their guy."

Well, I think we all learned that lesson, good and hard.

So while listening to everyone on the right yammer about more hispandering, less so-cons, less neo-cons, less cons, more big government, fix ORCA, use technology, blah freaking blah, blah, blah. I just decided I'd had enough.

Early voting starts now, and I'm voting West. I'm ignoring the Republicans, I'm ignoring the polling, I'm ignoring the calls for Christie to get in and Obi-Orange Crist to come back and save us, or Jeb, or even Rubio (whatever else Rubio is--and I like him--he's NOT a restoration guy. He just isn't). I don't even care who's on the ballot. I'm voting West in 2016.

I don't care about bimbo eruptions, smears, if he gets a divorce, if he buys a boat, if he gets caught on camera drinking a Bud Light, I just plain don't give a damn anymore. Unless he's moved to the other side of the lawn by then, I'm voting for him.

The thing I like about this is that it doesn't require forming a third party. Nor does it require the effort of "taking over" the stinking corpse of the Republican party. Screw them. And screw CPAC and Anne Coulter and all the other folks that try to pull the train off the tracks every damned time. They all lost, big time, and they are now ministers without portfolio.

This time just Vote West. That's it. Nobody has to be in charge. Nobody takes the credit. We just all act. Barely requires any money. We don't even need to ask West if he wants the job. Just vote for him, and to hell with the political apparatus altogether.

And don't start trying to add your favorite to the ticket. (Mine's Palin or a trade to be named later.) None of that. Let him decide and just freaking live with it. Even if he picks some notorious Bush/Rove clown. Screw it, just Vote West.

That's the answer to everything the Republicans try to do this time: Vote West.

Tell my why it won't work. Then tell me how to fix it, because I sure as hell ain't falling for the Republican shit sandwich this time around. I did my job, and went along. No mas. No mas.

Vote West.
