Costas Stupidly Stands By Gun Control Remarks

Idiot.

In an interview with New York Times media reporter Bill Carter that appeared in Tuesday's editions, Costas said: "I think most reasonable people think we do not have sufficient controls on the availability of guns and ammunition."

So tell me, super-genius Bob Costas, what new law would have prevented this? It's not like he bought the gun that morning.

And speaking of that morning ...

The night before the killings, Perkins had attended a concert downtown with friends, and Belcher had “partied” at the Power and Light District, police said. It was unclear when they arrived home, where Belcher’s mother was watching their baby. A woman who answered Belcher’s mother’s cell phone Monday declined to comment.

Detectives don’t know what specifically sparked the argument between the couple at home, but a friend of Perkins told The Star that the couple argued around 1 a.m. Saturday when Perkins returned home from the Trey Songz concert and drinks with friends afterward. Belcher was mad she had stayed out so late, the friend said.

Sometime later, Kansas City police talked with Belcher after finding him asleep in his Bentley on Armour Boulevard. Officers determined he was able to drive himself home. Police believe he arrived home about 7 a.m., well before a 9:30 team meeting. That’s when the yelling began.

Police said youth, immaturity and financial pressures served as a backdrop. During his college years, Belcher allegedly punched a dormitory window because he was upset over a woman.

Autopsies with toxicology tests were performed on both bodies, but results will take weeks, police said. Investigators believe alcohol may have played a role in the argument’s escalation.

Police recovered several legally owned guns from Belcher’s home. Investigators were testing each one, and the gun found with Belcher’s body, against shell casings and bullets they recovered.

"Investigators believe alcohol may have played a role in the argument’s escalation." Shocking, right?

Maybe Costas should call for booze control too.

33 I certainly don't believe in this, but boooze control would make far more sense than gun control.

We live in a world with technology and machines. Banning a gun would never prevent a rage murder when we have access to many destructive things.

It would, of course, prevent weaker people, women and the elderly, from being able to protect themselves. If you can't plan to improvise a weapon, like a car, you need to prepare with a pistol.

In this way, gun access will always tend towards safety and gun control towards violence.

Of course, booze control wouldn't work either. It would only empower the lawless just like gun control does.

46 Ace,

I'm glad to see that your recent political postings have taken into account my ideas. I think it shows a lot of intellectual heft on your part, to allow yourself to be influenced by my postings and ideas, and to let yourself be persuaded. Together we have reached the obviously correct conclusions.

You're welcome. /lifesmanship

I know many of us aren't Erick Erickson's biggest fan (besides his obviously fake name. What is he hiding with such a fake name?!?!). However, his recent post regarding Boehner and Cantor's weapons grade cock sucking and purge of FiCons is important.

As I've been articulating since shortly after the election, the RINOs who hold party leadership positions are going down a dangerous path. If they aren't careful, the fractured GOP coalition will break (presuming that isn't their goal.)

In some poignant posts that clearly transformed your thinking (or perhaps I had just reached the correct conclusions before you and helped you catch up), I asked you, Ace, concretely: at what point have you been alienated out of the party.

I'd like to revisit that, because it was clearly beneficial for your intellectual evolution.

Boehner is actively purging FiCons, is open to 800b+ in tax hikes, and has adopted a policy of being a surrender monkey. Key FiCon and SoCon GOP constituencies are approaching outright party revolt/separation.

Ace, at what point do you privately break with leadership? Ace, At what point do you do it publicly?

You're welcome. No need to thank me anymore than you already have.

Most "reasonable" people believe what they see on TV. They believe in ghosts, werewolves, and Snooki. They believe that the Constitution is "living and breathing" without having a clue what they are talking about. They believe that having the government confiscate private property is fine, since it never occurs to them that they have private property. They support the Occupy movement. They believe in vampires. 195 Thinking about this shitstorm that Robert Quinlan Costas started just reinforces that point that the Donks/libs/progressives are the racist ones - look at who they want to keep the guns out of the hands of? Look at the "communities" that they have created with their ideas of "wealth distribution", "gun control", and "getting a piece of the pie"... every one of them a shithole with rampant crime, urban blight and corruption to the nth degree - while little technocrats, like Costas, love to dictate from their ivory towers what we the people should think, do and believe in.

When I was growing up he was great about not bringing anyone into the community who had a criminal record or history of causing trouble. Lately though, he's relaxed that policy which has resulted in much worse PR for the team as well as not producing the winning that the trouble makers were supposed to supply.

Look what he did there. He offered no logic, no argument, no facts. The science is settled, once again. No debate necessary.

"Hours earlier, Belcher had a boozy dinner with another woman and spent
the night at her apartment before going home, sources told The Post
yesterday.
After dinner and drinks Friday night at a local tavern,
the Long Island native Belcher took the woman, Brittni Glass, to her
home, but spent the next several hours asleep in his Bentley outside her
building, neighbors said.
After cops roused him from his drunken
slumber at about 2:30 a.m., Belcher went inside Glass’ building and
re-emerged about four hours later.
“I was with him that night, that’s it,” a reluctant Glass told The Post."

I heard Rush call for microphone control due to all the harm they cause: after all they were not imagined by the Founding Fathers so the First Amendment does not apply.

238 Dead thread, but re: Drew's side thing about this and the culture.

There is a good point there that the right cedes "the conversation" to the left because we think it's rude and confrontational and destructive to make every damned conversation and context about politics.

But basically the left will go apeshit when challenged on these fronts. This is not going to be cost-free (never is, but we've been able to pretend it can be for a while). There are going to be millions of bitter confrontations, recriminations, breakups and shouting matches if we try to regain some control (or even neutrality) in The Culture.

We're going to lose friends and business and opportunities, and we're going to be damned uncomfortable, a lot of the time. And we'll probably all die young of cortisol poisoning.

But ceding the culture has got us into a mess we may not be able to get out of even if we do this - and definitely won't if we don't.

I don't think Rousseau came up with the toxic combination of grievance / optimism / blind faith / anger / power fantasy on *purpose*, as a devious plan, but the combination is like a mental virus - it obviously satisfies deep human needs as a *plan* that override the fact that it's always a disaster when implemented, sooner or later.

He passed out drunk in his car outside her place - cop wrote up a report on it - then he went into her place for four hours. So he was out hounding all night and HE came home late.

The stuff coming from his friends has been designed to make him sympathetic. They're also the ones claiming he had a history of head trauma.
