"Part-time workers who lose their Walmart insurance but earn too much to qualify for Medicaid should be able to buy insurance through the health care exchanges to be established under Obamacare -- essentially, online marketplaces offering an array of health care plans."

except most states are not going to set up the exchanges. Something that's taken the feds by surprise it'll be interesting to watch some of the most incompetent people in America try and set up 30 some odd exchanges. though I do feel sorry for the poor working slobs that are going to lose coverage and fall through the cracks. Though if they vote democrat I hope it really sucks for them.

30 After careful, non-alcoholic induced, consideration and deep thought, I have come to the conclusion that last night's Cowboy's cheerleader did NOT have a happy left nipple protruding underneath her regulation team uniform. It does in fact appear to be a wrinkled, creased portion of her top that casts the illusion of an erect nipple. I apologize for any inconvenience and take full responsibility of any destroyed fantasies. I fucked up! Also, after some cyberstalking, her name appears to be "Collin", or at least I think that's her.

You forgot "fat". It doesn't change anything, but it's always fun to insult.

Gentlemen, you forgot to add that Jason Whitlock would voluntarily suck a man's cock for a donut.

And I am going to gloat here momentarily. A year or so ago, I did a long series of rants on idiotic sports "journolist" and ripped on Bob Costas. Only to have a few members of the hoard argue with me about my assessment (Costas is overrated and only looks competent because the field he works in is full of incompetent people).

Costas does not "broadcast" anything.....he is a studio host who whole job is to throw from one puff piece to another puff piece ("thank you Peter King on that uplifting story of the homeless man getting to watch the Cowboy game this week from Jerry Jone's box. Next, Dan Patrick will tell us about how the San Diego Chargers are making a difference by recycling gatoraid bottles"). In addition, some one needs to buy Bob a new calendar, because his still reads "1954". Bob, Mikey Mantle is dead (in fact, Mantle killed himself Bob with his drinking, a sad, sad fact that you do not wish to acknowledge......maybe one day you could preach from your soapbox about the evils of alcohol and the need for more regulation there.....right before you throw to a Bud Light commercial.) and sports is not going back to the "wonderful" days of your youth. The DH is here to stay Bob, interleague is here to stay, Bob and please stop whinning about guys not getting into the HOF because of steriods, Bob, because the truth is that in 90% of the cases, you do not know who did and did not use.

Bob Costas, the most overrated sports "journolist" in the wwwwoooorrrllllldddd!

50 Men who off their domestic partners are pretty creative in their methods. They really don't need to depend on firearms.

There's: strangling, stabbing, drowning (in bathtub or toilet bowl), hit and run in parking lot, pushing them off fifth floor balcony, drugging them, putting them in garage with car engine running, suffocation with bed pillow, applying a fatal beatdown, and that old standby: blunt force trauma to the head.

To name a few.

Costas is a deplorable scrunt for trying to make a political statement on the back of a tragic instance of domestic violence which the families involved will never live down.

58 I'm quite irritated over the way Belcher's associates are responding to the issue. Apparently, they'll be having a 'wake' to 'celebrate' the man's life?

This is ghastly. Any excuse to party in those kinds of social circles. It may sound terrible, but it occurs to me that perhaps Belcher lost himself in that culture, and realized the futility of it before the rest of his acquaintances. I say acquaintances, because no one who is a friend throws a party after their friend commits suicide, still less when they murder their girlfriend and leave their only child an orphan.

There is nothing to celebrate about the man's life. He murdered his girlfriend, abandoned his child in an increasingly dismal world, and... not much else. He should not even be mourned, in my opinion, and they're throwing a damn party.

Heathen revelry. -_-

68 Two observations:

First, Alanis Morissette is my hero for refusing to boycott Israel and hold a concert in Jerusalem.

Second, there is a scene in "Annie Hall" where Woody's parents are arguing that their black housekeeper stole money from them. The mother is pissed off and the father is saying she has a right to steal because of what her people have been through.

I think that sums up the libbo mindset right there.

87 The thing that really drives me nuts about the Belcher story is how blatantly and obviously the media, including the sports media, have latched onto it as a way to talk about gun control and not mental health, psychology, social interaction, humanity, or dammit, simple EVIL. If I were a martian come to earth on Sunday, I would have though "Jevon Belcher" was a name for some kind of projectile weapon, not a "man" (I don't consider a person who would orphan his 3mos old daughter an actual man). There was virtually no discussion of the flesh and blood "person" (see previous parenthetical) who did this terrible thing, beyond the most trite and basic proclamations that, "We need to talk to each other more," which will be immediately forgotten.

Disgusting.

Costas accomplished two things:

1) gun control rant
2) distraction for the NFL culture

I know not all football players are bad, but the NFL, in general, will look away, or diminish (and the reward) those that break the law.

If they are "stars," they just get a slap on the wrist and are reinvited to the party.

Now that we get to listen to some of the huddle rants, where one of the players is screaming some "morale boosting" bs, it struck me how primitive some of it sounds. Yesterday, I saw/heard a clip that just sounded disturbing to me. (and I am a football fan)

Incidentally, the exact same logic can be applied to the U S of A. There are many bad people out there that want to see us dead. They hate us, and they fear us. Who knows, maybe there is a correlation there. They fear us because they know that in a blink of an eye, we can lay their sorry asses to rest at our will.

All that stops us is our inherent good nature. That has to piss them off to no end. So they sit and calculate -- how far can we push them? Will this next thing be the straw that turns us from a mostly peace loving people to greasing our tank treads with their guts?

btw atc, I'm glad you came through your ordeal intact. Too many in your shoes don't.

165 Alex Rodriguez was playing late in the regular season and playoffs with a re-tear in his surgically repaired right hip, The Post has learned.

Rodriguez is expected to need a second surgery in the coming days and will miss, at minimum, a piece of the 2013 season. Still, the hope is that the procedure will allow A-Rod to return as a full, successful player as early as the ’13 season and for the rest of a contract that takes him through the 2017 campaign.

The expectation is that Rodriguez wants to play on, not retire. The surgery is expected to be performed in Colorado by Dr. Marc Philippon, who performed the initial surgery in 2009. Rodriguez came back from that operation to play well, driving in 100 runs in just 124 games and starring in a postseason that culminated with the Yankees’ only title during his tenure.

And the Hits just keep on coming!

reposting this bit from Legal Insurrection:
People weren’t paying attention. Those are the people now surprised that President Obama is still stridently campaigning instead of doing the real work of governing.

Even some who voted for him last month are puzzled as he threatens to take the nation off the fiscal cliff if Republicans don’t give him the tax hikes he demands now and puts off entitlement reform until later. He even wants to increase spending.

I’ve talked to people who supported him, and their surprise is surprising.

Both are smart, accomplished men, but I’m baffled that they didn’t see this coming.

I thought he was going to move toward the center after the election,” one stunned Obama backer told me. Another said he believed the president’s positions were opening gambits and he would compromise. “It’s the first round,” he insisted.

There is a far greater incidence of domestic abuse by African-American men

From the American Bar Association;

African Americans, especially African American Women, suffer deadly violence from family members at rates decidedly higher than for other racial groups in the United States. However, it is observed that research concerning family violence among African Americans is inadequate.

Overall, African Americans were victimized by intimate partners a significantly higher rates than persons of any other race between 1993 and 1998. Black females experienced intimate partner violence at a rate 35% higher than that of white females, and about 22 times the rate of women of other races. Black males experienced intimate partner violence at a rate about 62% higher than that of white males and about 22 times the rate of men of other races.
Callie Marie Rennison. and Sarah Welchans, U.S. Dep't of Just., NCJ 178247, Intimate Partner Violence (2000), available at http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/pub/ascii/ipv.txt

African-American women experience significantly more domestic violence than White women in the age group of 20-24. Generally, Black women experience similar levels of intimate partner victimization in all other age categories as compared to White women, but experience slightly more domestic violence. (Estimates are provided from the National Crime Victimization Survey, which defines an intimate partner as a current or former spouse, girlfriend, or boyfriend. Violent acts include murder, rape, sexual assault, robbery, aggravated assault, and simple assault.)
Callie Marie Rennison, U.S. Dep't of Just., NCJ 187635, Intimate Partner Violence and Age of Victim, 1993-1999, at 4, (2001), available at http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/abstract/ipva99.htm

Approximately 40% of Black women report coercive contact of a sexual nature by age 18.
Africana Voices Against Violence, Tufts University, Statistics, 2002, www.ase.tufts.edu/womenscenter/peace/africana/newsite/statistics.htm

The number one killer of African-American women ages 15 to 34 is homicide at the hands of a current or former intimate partner.
Africana Voices Against Violence, Tufts University, Statistics, 2002, www.ase.tufts.edu/womenscenter/peace/africana/newsite/statistics.htm

In a study of African-American sexual assault survivors, only 17% reported the assault to police.

180 Here's the rant:

An open letter to Bob Costas and Jay Whitlock

Gentlemen: I see that you have chosen to use the horrific crime of the murder of Kasandra Perkins to express your belief that guns are the problem, not the men who wield them. I am utterly certain that you believe that you have the moral high ground on this matter. I am equally certain that such a belief is appallingly wrong, not to mention terribly misogynistic. Why do I say this? Because had your desires on gun control been in place, I would not be alive to be writing this now.

I have an Ex. I have an Ex who, in the process of becoming my Ex, made credible threats to kill me. Why did I believe these threats were credible? Because among the primary reasons why I left him were that he had anger control issues, that he was a problem drinker well on his way to full blown alcoholism and that the things he was throwing at me were getting ever closer to my head. I decided to leave before finally snapped and actually hit me. He was displeased by this and made such displeasure known.

Do you know what kept me safe? Not some piece of paper. Not a judge tut tutting at him and shaking his/her finger and telling him to leave me alone. Not the police, who, after all, would only be able to respond once he had caused me harm. No, what kept me safe was my Glock. What kept me safe was my Glock and the fact that he knew I had both the ability and the will to empty a clip into his chest if he made good on his statements that if I did not come back, I would not see the next week. He never tried to do any of the things he screamed he would because he knew that not only would I defend myself but that I could. My Ex was nearly a foot taller than me and, at the time, had about 150 pounds on me. If he had been able to get close enough to me to harm me, there were very few options I had to protect myself. But with my Glock, well, I would be able to stop him before he got that close. I am alive today because he knew that if he tried to make that otherwise, there was a better than even chance he would be the one lying there in a pool of blood instead of me.

You want to take that from me. You want me to be unable to defend myself. You want to leave me vulnerable to those out there who look at a five foot tall fat girl and think “victim”. You want me to be unable to protect myself when there is no one else around to do so. You want to make me dependent on others to provide for my basic safety and security.

Let us not beat around the bush, you want to sacrifice my life on the altar of your political beliefs. How dare you? Honestly, who do the two of you think you are to demand that my blood be shed so that you may preen about what wonderful people you are? Why, precisely, are you removing the responsibility for Kasandra Perkins’ murder from Jovan Belcher and placing it on an inanimate object? That is what you are doing, after all. Your position is that absent the gun, Jovan Belcher would not have murdered Kasandra Perkins. What utter rot. It’s not as if, to pick something at random, he could have picked up a knife and slit her throat so violently that she was nearly decapitated. Oh no, that would never ever happen. By focusing on the gun, you are choosing to make Jovan Belcher a mere bystander to his own actions. That is horrific. Jovan Belcher murdered Kasandra Perkins. He chose to pull that trigger. He chose to take her life. How dare you attempt to absolve him in even the slightest manner for that crime. He killed her. Not a gun. He did it. No one else.

I will not let you two demand that my blood be shed so that you can sit there and declaim your supposed superior morality to the world. No. You would rather I be dead. That is the logical conclusion of your positions. I will not die for you. No other woman should either.

Alive despite you,

Alexandria

Yes but ultimately even weinie liberals realize they have to fight, but it is usually only after the have their backs to the wall. To quote WSC:

"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."

222 from PJ media updating SS office bombing story

UPDATED (8:25p EDT): I just spoke again with my contact in the FBI Phoenix field office (who is not authorized to speak on behalf of the FBI office). This contact said that it is highly unlikely that Aldosary will be charged with any terrorism offense. While they are internally treating it like a domestic terrorism investigation, including looking at if he had any help constructing the explosive device, the FBI is saying very little and and will prosecute this as a simple explosives and arson case because of “the political sensitivities involved.”

UPDATE #2: Please note that the Daily Kos was first out of the gate, blaming the bombing on “right-wing extremism”:

Today, At about 8:30 AM, it appears a small explosive was detonated at the rear door of a Social Security office in Casa Grande, AZ. Thankfully, nobody was injured. It is still early, and we cannot say that it is a political act, or even be sure that this is an act of domestic terrorism, but it does seem likely.

The death cult palestinians and the leftwing cock suckers who support them can eat shit.

"The comparison to South Africa is more of the same vile and falsepropaganda meant to delegitimize Israel, which is multi-racial; roughly half of Israeli Jews are from or the descendants of Jews from Arab Lands
expelled after the creation of Israel.
Perhaps the lunatics (but I repeat myself) at BDS would prefer Morissette to play in one of the Islamic countries where gays are stoned to death or driven underground under family threat (like in "Palestine"), or where women are treated like slaves."

Looks like pro-death cultists use the same type of propaganda as modern us democrats.

force on the “left”. Tip for young people hoping to run the world some
day: modern European history is intensely relevant and important for
people who want to understand the contemporary world, even if
contemporary Europe’s influence is shrinking."
-
That's wrong on so many levels. The Middle Eastern transformation is not tracking the history of 18th and 19th century revolutions in Europe, Islamists are not the new socialist left, modern European history is the most politicized and thus the least useful branch of European history, and history is increasingly made by people who don't have a temperament or culture like historical Europeans, which means it would be better to study the ancestors of the new players and not the ancestors of declining historically European populations for clues on how things are likely to go.

He's free to speak his mind in any situation, and that isn't something you have to earn.

I'd bet he's got a closet full of hardware of his own at home though. The majority of high profile gun banners are armed to the teeth. They think the rules are only for the serfs.

409 Stolen from Yahoo sports in October of 2011,

More than a few pundits have condemned miscreants in pro football, but the truth hurts their argument: NFL players are actually incarcerated less than the average citizen.

The numbers don't lie. One in every 45 National Football League players (2.2 percent) is arrested. The national arrest rate is 1 in 23 (4.2 percent), according to the FBI in 2010.

WCCO Minnesota's Jason DeRusha reports that in 2010, the NBA had by far the highest arrest rate (5.1 percent) of the major professional sports leagues in America. Major League Baseball is second with an arrest rate of 2.1 percent last year. Believe it or not, the NFL is last with (2.0 percent) of its players in trouble.

Each NBA team can have a maximum of 15 players on its roster, with 12 dressing for each game. With 30 teams, that equates to 450 players. Only 23 were arrested in 2010.

NFL teams are allowed 53 players on their rosters (plus five man practice squad). With 32 teams, that calculates to a total of 1,696 players. The League saw only 34 players arrested a year ago.

In Major League Baseball, there are 750 players -- 30 teams with 25 players each. That doesn't include the 40-man roster, which if included, would up the total players to 1,200. Sixteen baseball players were arrested for major drug and violent crimes in 2010.

It is not the sport, or the fame, or the money, or the roids, or concussions or the guns.

Some people are just evil. Some places tolerate that

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of Tricky Dicky

Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me

With just a pocketful of hope

Money for dope

Money for rope

Hmmmmm. Pocketful of hope = money for rope. And it is about a son of Tricky Dicky who is allergic to truth. I think this is a Nostradamus thing about our current administration.

Were I the owner of a sports team, I'd have the legal team draw up a contract that stipulates that any conviction of a crime (see, I'm allowing Teh System to work) results in the immediate termination of the contract. Make it ironclad with no ifs, ands or buts about it.

The only reason we put up with this is because we put up with it.

You left out soccer players, who probably get minor contused every time they head the ball. A quick Google search shows that a bunch of them have BEEN murdered but not one murderer.

I did get a major concussion when in HS playing soccer when another player sent a boomer into my face. Missed the entire second half of the game. Came to in the locker room with nobody around. They carried me off the field and went back to the game.

A different America, back then.
