One of the things my upbringing did not prepare me for was the complete lack of civility that some people have. I didn't think of myself as having been sheltered from evil as a child, but I did not learn that some people have absolutely no regard for the welfare of anyone but themselves, and lash out at anyone who tries to make them aware they are not the only people on the planet
Everyone has a "hot button." Calm and even-tempered as you might be, there is some topic that will set you off, especially if it's referenced to you personally. It might be your height, your weight, your sexuality, your education, how much money you have, your mom, whatever. Rational people can become maniacs if someone pushes their buttons.

It has long been the trope of radical Feminists that women had to be able to stand on their own and be free to follow whatever life-path they wanted, without needing to rely on men or “The Patriarchy™.”
This drive to overthrow “The Patriarchy™,” even went to far as to banish the root “-man” from terms such as “chairman” and replace it with the more clunky “chairperson” or simply “chair.” This is despite “man” originally meaning just a person, with a woman being a “wifman” and a male being a “wer” or “wćpman/wćpnedman.”
Despite the stated desires to abolish “andro-normative” oppression, Feminists have become what they claim to most hate: Weak little things that need a man, or patriarchic substitute, to protect them.

The first crack in the oh-so-false façade was seen during the Clinton Presidency. Clinton was accused of sexual harassment and even rape. Yet, despite this, the radical Feminists did not attack or even question Clinton; they went after his female accusers. The radical Feminists did not care about women, they only cared about attaining a few political goals, chief among these being extreme abortion practices.
The second major crack in the radical Feminists’ façade was seen when Sen. McCain chose Sarah Palin for his Vice-Presidential running-mate. Rather then celebrate a successful reformist governor being on a major party Presidential ticket, the radical Feminists attacked so savagely that no male could do even a fraction of the same to a left-leaning female candidate.
Palin balanced both being Governor and raising a family. The radical Feminists have always said that they wanted for women to have a choice on how they lived their own lives. What these radical Feminists really meant. was that women should be “free” to choose what the radical Feminists believed women should choose.
The need to destroy this fictional “Patriarchy™” to free “womyn” necessitates that all “womyn” think in lock-step with the radical Feminists. If a woman dares think for herself, the radical Feminists will destroy her more viciously than any gentleman would ever dare to even consider the contemplation of!
The third, and most telling, crack in the Feminists’ façade, is now being seen under Barack Obama. This can be most clearly seen by the “Life of Julia” campaign where a seemingly husband-less “Julia” travels through life totally dependent on patriarchal statism to provide that money and support she no longer need to get from real men.
Indeed, in the left’s and Obama’s worldview, the STATE becomes father, brother, uncle, boyfriend, provider, and lover, all rolled up into one. In return for this ” Patriarchy™”-free patriarchal statism, all women have to do is vote the way they are told to vote and help bring down the “Kyriarchy.”
But radical Feminism has not come full circle to the past they have professed to hate: A weak woman who needs a man to protect her. The Republicans’ criticism of Ambassador Susan Rice have resulted in the left calling Rice’s detractors “sexist.” Apparently “sexist” comments refer to comments assuming a woman’s competency.
The culmination of this, was Obama’s statement that “if they want to go after somebody, they should go after me.” Obama is acting as the ultimate macho stereotype of a strong man standing up to protect a weak woman.
We have truly arrived at a situation where not only is the state protector, provider, boyfriend, brother, and father all rolled up into one, but where a woman being strong and independent is considered an affront to feminism, but where a woman being weak and incompetent is considered a paragon of feminist virtue.

I think Ron Paul is a very good speaker when it comes to spending and taxes. It's the conspiracy stuff (especially the blame America conspiracy stuff) and the flirting with anti-Semitic shit years back that caused me to hate the guy.

So docs (my friend) have to get tongs and reach in and try to pull it out. My friend can't quite get it. Another doc, with more experience in rectal removal gives a got. He gets a hold of it with the tongs and starts pulling it out.
But then the cigar case shatters. Turns out it was made of glass, not plastic. Now dude has shards of glass in his rectum
My friend tells the dude, you have to have surgery now to remove the glass shards.
That was at the end of my friend's shift. When he came back the next day he asked the other doc how it turned out. Turns out, the patient just checked himself out of the hospital without getting the surgery.
Next night a guy shows up at the ER with a lacerated penis.
(Ok, that last bit -- the lacerated penis -- I made up. But the patient really did check himself out with broken shards of glass in his rectum. Probably sued.)

I don't paint stuff for a living; I don't like painting, I do it as part of home maintenance stuff, and I hate the maintenance aspects of it -- so I do it sporadically and with old, leftover paint and generally cheap brushes.....and I hate it all the more because the brushes keep leaving hair in the paint and there are clumpy spots in the finished product.
So, am I making it worse for myself by hating the crappy brushes, crappy paint, and occasional failures (like finding half a can of hardened paint)......or (as I suspect) would it be even more awful if I had to clean the freakin' brushes for a time equivalent to the time spent painting and saw money fly out the window when I used new paint for each project?

When I was a kid my dad always cleaned the brushes when done and then reused them. If I try to do this for her it becomes a big ordeal for her that I am cleaning up....but perhaps cleaning brushes...will help your hair in the brush problem. Foam brushes are a good idea too(D.Hopper).

I suspect that there might be some technological thing going on. What I've always known about from the store is latex paint.....but when I think of awesome paint, I think of stuff like they use at Disneyland -- where a million freakin' people run their hands down a painted railing or over a decoration, then thousands of cleaner elves swab it clean at night, and it looks as solid as a stone, with no hint of brushstrokes, empty spots, runs or drips, wear-throughs, bad coverage, brush hairs left on the surface, or chunks of dried paint bonded to the surface by new paint.

Lets hope so. The rumor I heard this summer was she was top of the list but has a special needs sister she is the caregiver for and she felt a grueling campaign would be too much. I have no doubt with her on the ticket things wouldve turned out differently. 2016 is going to be a Pro choice Hispanic(Martinez/Sandoval), minority female(Haley/Martinez), minority male(Sandoval/Jindal/Rubio) or RINO with 25% of the primary vote(Christie/Portman). paint and charge the rail and it is in a giant industrial spray booth.
The paint just sticks to the rail. Do a search on powder coating. Wont
do much good for wood...or home projects though.

A bunch of it isn't -- I've seen painters repainting the railings over the years. And in the shops, there was a point where they were moving a cash register and it had broken some paint off a column. There's real wood under there, but there's a hard shell of paint over it -- and the shell is pretty thick, considering. And it cracks like a shell. But it sure as heck isn't "latex enamel" because it's really, really hard instead of yielding. I'm thinking that it's old-school non-latex enamel, but I don't know how that's done or if that's it for sure.

I paint to last. In paint, you really do get what you pay for -- better binder resins, better flow properties (less brush marks), better hiding power, etc.
Older paint can be used, but it should be vigorously stirred to redisperse any settled fillers; if the paint has skinned, remove the skin before stirring.
You can save some labor on cleanup by putting rollers and brushes in plastic bags overnight; that'll keep the paint from drying and you can just go back to using it the next day.
Cleanup works best with dish detergent and warm running water.

The reason lead was used in older oil based paint (actually in very small amounts) was as a catalyst for curing it. Once cured, it is hard and impervious to most solvents as it is a continuous cross-linked sheet.

We bought the house in '97. Before we moved in, we repainted.....using Behr. I'm doing adjustments in various rooms -- like, I did a bathroom window a couple of months ago, and I'm using the same paint for touch-up.....15 years later. Yes, it needs vigorous mixing, but I'm also not doing the entire bathroom -- just the spots that now need it. I'm mostly using little chip brushes or brushes from Harbor Freight.
I could go down and purchase another quart of Behr -- even though they'd mix it differently, 'cause they've had to change their colorants. And I could use a nice brush.....except I'd have to extend my painting session with a thorough wash, conditioning, and blow-dry. I shouldn't have to worry that my can is dried out and unusable if I buy a new one; I shouldn't need to be careful of dropping chips of dried paint into the mix, or having unmixed tints at the bottom, or having the damned lid rust if I buy new -- but I run the risk of it being a different color and I'm out the expense.

It did surprisingly well after a couple of weeks -- and, of course, you can feather it in a bit. It did better than using a color-match or reformulated same-flavor paint. Wet paint never looks like dry paint, anyway.....
Which spurs me onto another wild digression. Where I went to University, the finals were at 7a-10a, 11a-2p, 3p-6p, and 7p-10p over a week depending on when your class met. Over the course of the 11 finals weeks I spent there, I managed to end up with one case of four consecutive finals [beginning at 3p-6p] and one case of three finals in one day -- so I am well acquainted with the concept of "epic FAIL" when you run out of runway and there's nowhere to go. And I got another dose of that when we bought this house and decided to paint it -- we wanted a shade slightly blue-r and lighter than it had previously been, and selected a paint after many swatches and deliberations......and, yet, missed the fact that the new color "wet" was a spot-on match for the old color "dry and aged". In other words -- if you rolled a wall, you couldn't tell the part you'd painted from the part you hadn't touched.
At that point, I could have hired a paint crew from the local Braille institute and had better results.

Cheesecloth comes in 7 different weaves. Latex paint wouldn't go through a dense weave like a t-shirt very well at all.
Yeah, you can use an old piece of fiberglass window screen as a strainer too. You need it loose though, as you might need to fold it up and squeeze the paint through.

Thank you for the education. I sorta thought latex would have trouble with a t-shirt as well. I was thinking about soft window screening also---does seem like it would work, but I guess it would be hard to re-use? I'm guessing cthulhu just wants low maintenance.

Sure, why not. You might want to use a primer coat first, unsealed wood doesn't paint like a metal surface.
Be sure and follow their directions, esp. using UV resistant top coats if there will be sunlight exposure. It sounds like their temperature sensitive pigment is subject to UV degradation.
