Very sorry to hear about Larry Hagman. I was a Dallas junkie back in the
late 70s into the 80s. Even have the entire series on dvd. I knew Larry
was in bad health, but didn't expect this. RIP J.R.

A
funny story. I once saw Larry on TV and he was being interviewed. He
was quite a character. He said that he always told his friends that,
when he died, he wanted them to party. He said he wanted them to make
sure he was cremated, then to take his ashes and sprinkle them onto the
ground, then plant wheat there. Let the wheat grow, harvest it, then use
the flour to bake a cake. Then they were all supposed to eat a cake
that came from the ground where his ashes were. It was pretty funny and
he had a great sense of humor about it. Still, he sounded half serious.
Gonna miss the old guy.

I think what's happening is that Palestinians are getting sick of blwing themselves up for other men in their fight against Israel.

Yes, they can still find suicide bombers and children to act as human shields, but this latest Arafat thing tells me that Palestinians are losing their zeal.

So naturally they resurrect Arafat! Clever, really. It will reignite the spark, renew the hate, and the war continues.

30 Asian Americans turn Democratic
http://tinyurl.com/cfzke3b

Bottom line: "If Republicans step up their efforts to contact Asian American voters,
and if they are able to project a more inclusive image of the party on
immigration and religious diversity, they can hope to reverse their
steep descent among Asian American voters."

To satisfy Asians, America needs to be less Christian and less White, and to win the Asian vote the Republican Party needs to be more credible than the Democratic Party as an agent for diminishing Christians and Whites as a share of the population and reducing their power and cultural influence.

31 A Physician's New Reality: Patients Ask Me To Break The Law

Dr. Peter Weiss, PJ Media
http://tinyurl.com/cuschyp

... we are obligated by law to code specifically for the reason of the visit. An annual exam is one specific code; you can not mix this with another code, say, for rectal bleeding. This annual visit covers the exam and “discussion about the status of previously diagnosed stable conditions.” That’s the exact wording under that code — insurance will not cover any new ailment under that code. If you are here for that annual exam, you will not be covered if you want to discuss any new ailment or unstable condition. I cannot bait and switch to another code — that’s illegal. We, the physicians, are audited all the time and can lose our license for insurance fraud. You, the patient, will then have to make a decision. Do you want your “free” yearly exam, or do you want to pay for a visit which is coded for a particular, new problem? You can have my “free” exam if you only discuss what Obamacare wants me to discuss. It is the law. If you are complaining of a new problem, then you have to reschedule, since Obamacare is very clear as to what is covered and what is not. Obamacare — intentionally — makes it as difficult to be seen and taken care of as possible.

54 Nevergiveup -

From years of dealing with Jewish Israel, the Palestinians have become much more entrepeneurial, eschewing many of the business practices that are mandated by the Koran. Many Arabs outside of "Palestine" don't like the fact that the Palestinians have been Westernized by the Jews. Not all Palestinian Arabs hate the Jews. A lot of them depend on the Jews for business and employment. But as Truman said, they have to keep the hate up.

And Hamas and Hezbollah fighting could be predicted. Tribes.

Hamas is Sunni, Hez is Shia. That's what the Arabs do if left to themselves. Leave them alone long enough and they will find a reason to fight amongst themselves.

Replacing an aging furnace could cost homeowners thousands of dollars more after May 1, when new federal energy efficiency standards take effect for northern states, including New Jersey.

The new energy-efficient natural gas furnaces aren’t that much more expensive themselves, but they must be vented directly to an outside wall rather than through the chimney, which can increase installation costs dramatically, home heating contractors say.

I've said FTS and walked out of Walmart a number of times. Their "front end" Customer Service Managers are all trained as cashiers, and should be on top of these situations before they fester. Walking out is a clue to the assistant manager that their CSM is fucking up.

93 Identity politics, which often (but not always) means racial politics, is very effective, and that is what the winning Democratic coalition is about. In polite terms, it's about which party and which candidate cares about and is relate-able to "people like me" with "people like me" often being defined in highly segmented terms.

99 Israel eases Gaza border restrictions after truce
Published: 11.24.12, 16:16 / Israel News

Gaza residents said Saturday that Israel has eased some border restrictions as part of its truce with the Palestinian territory's Hamas rulers, allowing farmers to visit land near its security fence and letting fishermen head further out to sea.

The Egyptian-brokered cease-fire ended eight days of cross-border fighting that claimed 166 Palestinian and six Israeli lives, according to health officials. (AP)

So fire hundreds of missiles into Israel and get concessions? I wonder where they buried Deterrence? On Mount Herzl?

Then I will drag said tree to the tree shop where I will help the workers shake, drill and bag said tree while my family supports me.......from the comfort of the heated shed.

Then I will haul said tree to the car, tie it securely to the car and drive it home, drag out the stand, put the tree up, put on the lights (about 1200) and haul the ornaments up and then put all the emplty boxes away.

At which point, my family will make hot chocolate and talk about how all their hard work is worth it cause the tree is pretty.

Meanwhile, in the Golden State:

First cap-and-trade auction a bust for California budget

Gov. Jerry Brown and state lawmakers assumed three auctions this fiscal year would generate $1 billion total for the state, half of which they want to plug the state budget deficit. But most of the $289 million raised this month is dedicated for utilities and their ratepayers, leaving only $55.8 million for state purposes.

A low auction price for 2013 credits and low demand for future credits suggest that California will fall well short of its $1 billion projection this year. The nonpartisan Legislative Analyst's Office estimates that if trends hold in the February and May auctions, the state may only raise about $140 million in the first year.

118 A heads up on new EPA crap headed everyone's way:

The killing of R-22 A/C's usually requires a re-piping for the newer R-410 units. Not because of any mechanical differences, rather the R-22 and R-410 are completely incompatible chemically. 22 uses a Glycol based oil, 410 is Esther based oil, and they don't mix well.

Anyone who tells you its OK to just flush existing lines is rolling the dice trying to lower their bid. There's no guarantee a line flush gets all the old shit out. 410 systems run at dramatically higher pressures too, so marginal solder joints can fail and leak if the old pipe is retained.

119 The roots of today's anti-Semitism in America go back a long way.
Many non-Jewish "Progressives" were anti -Semites, such as H.L. Mencken.

Anti-Semitism was on the rise all over the world in the 1930's, but just not as bad in the US as say, Europe (really!).

US academics tend to ape their academic cousins in Europe, so as the Palestinian struggle became a class and race struggle (?), of course the academic Left in Europechampioned it and made the Israelis the bad guys.

It will get uglier in the next four years as the US government becomes more overtly anti - Israel in their policies and rhetoric. Obama and his Regime are nothing if not the off-spring of the academic Left in this country.

132 rickl, one can know that we have big problems with race in this country that have been made worse by the Community Organizer in Chief without going the way of Lightworker. And there is no doubt that Lightworker is a hardcore Stormfront type.

Why? Because, ask any other person a polite question about a group, and they'll give you an answer. For example, Palandine, what do you think about Jewish people and the state of Israel?

Answer: Jewish people are like any other people. Some are good, and some are bad. On the whole, they seem hardworking and with an impressive love of family and their own history, and the fact that they've survived as a non-proselytizing faith for 5000 years is a testament to them. Israel is the only western democracy in the Middle East. It is our strongest ally, and I support their right to defend themselves and maintain themselves as a Jewish state.

Easy peasy. The only reason Lightworker is having trouble with it is because he's trying to think of a nice synonym for Zionist and Zionist Occupied Government. Again, anyone as racially obsessed as he must be a dem, just as the KKK is.

Skyfall is the "new" Bond which is both good and bad...I very much enjoyed Skyfall as stand-alone film because it did go a little in to the Bond canon much more than any of the other films. There was also a lot less of the typical Bond humor in Skyfall. That being said, Casino Royale (Craig)might be the mostfun Bond film to date. Connery is the gold (finger) standard and Brosnanhad his moments (Goldeneye) but Craig (especially in Casino Royale) kicks ass...I know that it might be heresy to say but Daniel Craig is now my favorite Bond.

172 I did get it. I wasn't done very well. Some parts of it were good but too much of it just dragged and the whole threat of exposing the agents didn't come off as much of a threat. They could have cut back on some of the action and develop the story more

173 The No. 2 in Hamas has told The Associated Press that the Islamic militant group won’t stop making weapons in Gaza or smuggling them to the territory.

Moussa Abu Marzouk’s comments Saturday pointed to the major obstacles facing Egyptian-mediated talks between Israel and the Islamists on a new border deal for Hamas-ruled Gaza.

An Israeli security official has said Israel would likely link a significant easing of Gaza’s border blockade to Hamas’ willingness to stop arming itself. Israeli officials were not immediately available for comment Saturday.

The revelation comes on the heels of an NAACP complaint filed last month over racial disparities at elite city high schools, such as Stuyvesant and Bronx Science. They have just a tiny percentage of black and Latino students.
It is much the same at the top middle schools. For example, at the Anderson School in Manhattan, a gifted program that has the best test scores in the city, only 17% of the 569 students are black or Latino.

Speaking of the Bond's ancestral home, since it had a priest hole, were the Bonds Catholic? I dunno, having actual parents in the family that parent and aren't into breeding for government subsidy might help. That and having social norms which frown upon being a layabout, drug use, violence, and gang membership, in both daily life or the promotion thereof in media?

Race doesn't matter, genetics isn't that big a factor in intellectual performance, it is a shit culture (promoted by the assholes in the entertainment industry) and a lack of healthy family structure which wrecks everything. How nice for the statists to want to demolish the traditional family; no wonder that has been working out so well for the demographics which have gone along with that willingly.

249 I'm a big fan of Twilight Zone marathons. I think they do one every New Year's day on some channel. The one where the guy is sentenced to "jail" on an uninhabited planet where he has a female companion robot is one of my favorites. I can't stand the stupid one with Shatner in the airplane watching the monster crawling on the wing. Lame-o. A better airplane-related one was when a flight from the 60's went through some sort of wormhole and ended up flyinginto a 1930's airport.

253 Scientists have confirmed the long-held suspicion that frequent heavy marijuana use damages the brain's memory and learning capacity.

Australian researchers have showed for the first time that the earlier people start their marijuana habit, the worse the brain damage.

"Our results suggest that long-term cannabis use is hazardous to white matter in the developing brain. This was especially true for those who had started in adolescence, as we know the brain is still developing during this time," Lead researcher Dr. Marc Seal, from Melbourne’s Murdoch Children's Research Institute said in a university release.

257 >>>241 I just sat down to watch The Sandbaggers. I don't know much about the series but I love espionage. I bought a bootleg copy a few years ago and it got mixed in with all my other crap - just came across it last weekend and realized I had never watched it.

I'm a big fan of The Sandbaggers. They finally issued a DVD set. For a long time, you could only get bootlegs or pay a fortune for a UK version.

Someone put a youtube clip from the airplane hijack episode. Then the actor who played the chief terrorist commented:

Low budget but they did an excellent job.

I'm a big fan of Twilight Zone marathons.

I grew up watching TZ, which helps explain a lot of things. But I digress.

I can remember a show or a movie from the Sixties that showed a bunch of people freezing to death when the Earf moves out of its orbit. The Prota-Gonist wakes up from that dream and everyone's really cooking because it was just a dream about freezing.

I can't remember the name of it, but I do recall it being in black and white, which makes me think it may have been a TV show. Anyone else remember that?

302 re: "I'd love to know why they won't release them on dvd. All had name actors."

Depends how old those productions are. There might not be have any copies of them.

Until recently, the BBC threw away almost everything it produced, immediately after they aired it, to "save money." Keeping tape and film in a useable state costs...not much really. But there are *thousands* of managers there who need new nameplates on their doors and shit, you know? Priorities.

In the music division especially, a lot of their valuable old material only survived because somebody who worked there was smart enough to steal the tapes before they were destroyed.

Reminds me of the monumental, all-consuming fucktardedness of the Denver city council, who in the late 70's and early 80's decided that it was just fucking super to tear down unique, irreplaceable and historic buildings for PROGRESS! to take place. Look up Union Station in Denver....they were so close to tearing that down until someone finally talked some sense into those shitstains. Now they're spending a billion dollars to rehab it into a train/bus transportation hub because they finally realized the value of historic buildings.

Posted by: model_1066 at November 24, 2012 01:23 PM (E23Tl)

304 the BBC threw away almost everything it produced, immediately after they aired it, to "save money."

Somebody probably goat a promotion, a raise, and a bonus, for having a white paper that showed how much they could "save" by not holding on to their archival material.

One would think that Dr. Who would have shown them the error of their ways. The missing episodes alone could balance HMG's budget.

Of course, a large part of their perceived value is that they are missing.

Abandon any buried piping in place. Usually the techs don't run A/C piping under slab...but who knows... You can keep any buried drain lines of course...

Up/through the attic, or wrap the exterior of the building with the new shit.

If they really did run evap/condenser line under slab, it would be very difficult to even try and flush it for R-410.

If they're tearing up walls and ceilings, RIGHT NOW is the time to run some 3/4 or 1" spare electrical conduit through those spaces to get from basement to attic. The incremental cost is almost nil at this point if you do it yourself using their holes and access points. Minimum specs for EMT is a strap every 10' and within 3' of a junction box. Ream/file cut ends to remove burrs.

Shooting some electrical spares in now saves much pain later on if you ever want to add/reconfigure something.
