White House Ordered To Divulge The Name of James Clapper

Well, they put it as "the name of the man who edited the talking points." I just cut out the middleman.

We'll have to wait for a long, exhaustive investigation to find this out for sure. Should be sometime in 2017.

The Senate Intelligence Committee chairman says Congress has ordered the Obama administration to explain who exactly created its “talking points” on the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi, Libya, and who omitted the CIA’s early conclusion that terrorists were involved.

Exactly. We already know legal sanctions won't be applied to any wrongdoers in this whole affair, so why should the bad guys fess up? If they ignore the order, the worst they get is a reprimand. Even if it goes to the Supreme Court, what's going to happen? Absolutely nothing. A strongly worded note perhaps, or a stinging summation. That's all. No prison time. No loss of position or removal from office. No justice. Just words.

Hillary even confirmed after VP debate that Rice got the same information that ALL senior level officials did.

Rice does not report to State but directly to Obama (and if Vic is here -- I confirmed with former UN spokesman Richard Grenell that Obama made the UN Ambassador a cabinet position reporting directly to him *not* to State).

The only reason it matters is if the Republicans are serious about impeachment. That is, proving that Obama either directly approved them, or at least had to have known about the changes, helps build that case.

OTOH, making the question "Who edited the talking points," conveniently side steps the issues of "Who ordered the stand-down," and why the film maker is in prison.

I called yesterday to confirm we were going last night to be met with an annoyed sounded Mommy who was all "Your father" and I said yeah no let's go tomorrow. I called just now and my father answered and I asked to talk to Mommy and was told "Okay, we're getting ready to go to the hospital." Given my father's recent serious health problems, this was a tad alarming. I asked why and was told they were going to visit a friend who had knee replacement. Saying "we are getting ready to go to the hospital to visit a friend who had knee replacement" doesn't lend itself to making my eye twitch though. Then Mommy gets on the phone says no we aren't going tonight and still sounds annoyed and was all "Your father" and I mentioned that this was going to be a fun holiday and she said "Yes it will."

tl;dr I'm afraid of Mommy.

I don't see what the big deal is. Obama's responsible, no matter who actually did it, and Obama didn't give any sort of correction, despite many opportunites, and being asked directly multiple times.

Again, what is anybody after? Does anybody really not know that Obama misled the public on this? Does anybody think it will nullify the election, or that itrepresents an impeachable offense?

Let's move on to important things, like why the consulate was denied security, and why Obama didn't order the military to go in and help.

Alex, thats the most interesting thing I've read today and I don't even have a chicken choking clue what you're talking about. Seriously.

112 As has been said before, the issue is not who signed off on the talking points after the Benghazi murders but who signed off on denying requested security in Benghanzi.

113 By the way, a bit of Cliff Clavin trivia.
Pass the buck originates from playing poker when the deal is past between players. Most times it was marked with a knife whose handles were made from antlers hence the term buck. Eventually the marker was changed to mostly a silver dollar thus the nickname for a dollar became a buck.

114 The Congress could order Barack Obama to cut off his dick for all it matters, this administration's figured out that the whole 'separation of powers' and 'checks and balances' thing was fifth-grade bullshit.

Frankly, I'm coming around to the opinion that the idea of popular election (even through two levels of indirection via the states and the electoral college) is now doing more harm than good.

Can someone explain to me why we would not be better off as a parliamentary system with a head of government elected by the House? I'm no longer convinced that sub-rosa coalitions under the rubric of two dominant political parties is preferable to a more open structure with minor parties providing the balance of power.

Less obscure version - my mom's really really pissed off at my dad because reasons that I'm frankly terrified to find out. We're going to my brother's for Thanksgiving and it appears that my mom plans to continue to be pissed at my dad. So yeah I'm going to be stuck in a car for six hours or so to get there and then stuck with them at my brother's for 3 1/2 days while they make the disapproving faces because he and my sil drink and smoke. Then six hours or so back. Good. Times.

I'm contemplating breaking a wrist or something so I can avoid it all.

And hurt long. And hurt deep. Just a thought. Worth what it cost.

Hmmmm. That has possibilities. Though knowing Mommy, she would offer to stay home to take care of me and then I could have all the guilt about her not getting to see my brother. Not to mention my dad still isn't well enough to travel by himself. Crappity.

122 @120 - well, think of it this way. No one's ever quite topped Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine for parental squabbling.

(Cliff's notes version: after twenty-plus years of marriage and a variety of mistresses and bastards he finally puts matters over the edge when he decides that a fourteen-year-old French princess - who'd been betrothed to their second son Richard for eight years - was next.)

123 So many people say that Jimmy Carter has to be the happiest man on Earth right now, because he's no longer the worst or most incompetent President in U.S. history.

Well, you know what other ex-President must be happy these days? Warren G. Harding. Because rightly or wrongly, his gets referred to as "the most corrupt Administration in U.S. History.

I'm picturing Harding's smiling face on one of those "Miss Me Yet?" billboards.
