7 Random thoughts - so after we fought about the Rubio thing yesterday, it becomes really fucking clear that there is no possible answer that Our Betters in the MFM will accept. That NYT jackass fully admits that it's a gotcha question and admits that it's frequently unfair that Republicans are painted as being anti-science and then promptly proceeds to blame Rubio and the Republicans for that situation. Yeah. Go fuck yourself. I take back thinking Rubio gave a good answer and I am now in the "What the fuck is wrong with you, what kind of jackass question is that, what are you, some kind of religious bigot" camp.

On the EPA sockpuppetry, I've lost track of how many people across how many agencies have been busted doing this. I'm more concerned about the EPA drone use. I'm blanking on this but isn't the EPA in violation of court orders about disclosing drone usage and/or stopping drone usage? Related, I hope I'm not the only one disturbed that it's not apparently common practice for there to be domestic drone surveillance. Well, I'll be disturbed up until I get my drone avec shark with a frickin' laser on it. At that point it will become awesome.

I read France stripped of AAA rating as Finance stripped of AAA rating and was both confused and thought that it was about time.

Annnnnnd I just found out that I might have to cancel going away for Thanksgiving with the 'rents because we have a trial coming up so I'll have to work all weekend. To all the Free Shit Army, go to Hell. If I'm working my ass off, it will be for my benefit, not yours.

10 Health care note: Obama to make Tricare (military health insurance) better:

It won't matter because all of the doctors I have talked to about this debacle all agree that it will make things worse in the health care industry, one corollary of which, it is driving doctors out. My kids pediatrician is retiring. Their allergist says he wishes he could retire. The consequence that will have the most impact is that doctors are going Galt. No one is going to have decent health care, for the sake of giving everyone health care. Took the best system in the world and broke it. Lovely.

Perhaps any time the MFM asks a Republican a religiously loaded question he should ask the reporter if he/she is an atheist and then say FYNQ.

Democrats are never asked any questions that could possibly do damage.

Why is no democrat ever asked when does life begin vis-a-vis abortion?

Why is no democrat ever asked what level of taxation is enough?

Etc.

I am sure we could come up with a long list of questions, but the point is that the media and specifically the Republicans never press any of these items that
would cause serious problems for democrats.

Why is that?

That would require Rubio to have gone into the interview with the idea that this would be an adversarial interview.

GQ is a liberal magazine there was no reason for Rubio to a) not realize that he was in enemy territory and b) there was no reason to do the interview.

What was the purpose of the interview?

It would be great if, when someone is calling someone else a racist or sexist or whatever "ist", they be asked to define the term and what exactly the other person said or did is considered the nasty "ist" label.

On another site I was called a racist by some other commenter. Asked them to define racist and prove what I had said was racist. Much blather and circular thinking later, they still couldn't prove it.

Why should I have to live on the GOP plantation?

We lambast blacks for living on the Dem plantation, and attack conservatives for not liking the GOP plantation.

Maybe the problem is the GOP is trying plantation politics? You can't out Dem a Dem, you can't out Lib a Lib. Don't try.

Short form, cities. Europe's high population density bred some pretty mean germs that went to town when it crossed the Atlantic. Since the European stock had been used to a immunological free-fire zone, it was slightly better poised for what it ran into here, though there were some prizes among the local talent (take a bow, syphilis).

155 Do People Like This Still Think They're Edgy And Avant Garde? This Schtick Is Old And Tired.

Don't dismiss this as "schtick." Yes, it's used to sell bad art and make liberals feel good about themselves, but it's"TheLie that is Thanksgiving" represents acore belief for the Left.

The Left believes America is illegitimate. That oppression and racism are in its DNA. That we carry an Original Sin that no other nation on earth carries. Everything we do must be to atone. Reaching for greatness is over, part of the big lie. We must atone. Diversity is atonement. The Hispanic voter surge is atonement. The coming eclipsing of the white majority is all part of the endless atonement of a nation that, the Left believes, is illegitimtate.

Every other nation in the history of man was, apparently, founded via peace, love and cartography. To the Left, European settlers were the only people, ever, to wrest land from others. (Until the Israelis, I guess. )

That's the core of the Democrat party. All of those aunts and uncles who still think this is JFK's party need to be educated. We need to challenge the Left on this. Because their ideology has gone mainstream.

The Left: Hates what America was; doesn't like what it is; and sees as its only saving grace the fact that it can be changed into something different.

Ha! That's it. I knew it was something.

Lack of hygiene. Apparently, being too clean was a good way to draw the attention of the Spanish Inquisition. Strangely enough, being dirty will actually discourage a number of nasty bugs from trying to bite you, when there's a nice (relatively) clean Indigenous American over there.

That's just a guess. But it's a somewhat educated one.

That does make sense, easier disease vector and all that. I meant to bring up yesterday when we were talking about how being too clean is actually not a good thing, but if you haven't seen Safe with Julianne Moore, it's more or less about that and is very interesting. I remember when multiple chemical sensitivity was the new hotness and Safe deals with is it real or is she having a breakdown fairly well.

180 I like the liberal's version of Thanksgiving better than the one I grew up with.

Children shouldn't be taught this "sharing/getting along with other peoples" shit that I was fed in elementary school. The newer version sends a message for the 21st century.

What kids will learn is that if a technologically advanced, militarily stronger group of people face an option of either starving/freezing to death or wiping out a backwards society, they will choose the later.

We should take this lesson to heart and start using our investments in strenght to take whatever we need.

It's actually about 82% total increase over 3 years. And that's with downgrading my plan. The "upscale" (where you won't go poor if you end up in ICU) has increased in cost by 113% while experiencing the same increases in copay and max out of pocket expenses.

Fortunately, this is Texas. Our plant in California pay a rate four times ours in cost (over $400 a pay period for emp +1) and their copays are double what our new ones will be. I'd rather go on unemployment than be transferred out there.

236 I read something interesting (and racist) the other day. Americans bought only 8% of the African slaves and yet slavery died out nearly everywhere else before in the U.S. The reason was apparently that everywhere else they worked their slaves to death while the evil capitalists saw their slaves as an asset and treated them relatively well. The slave population continued to grow in the US after the slave trade was abolished. Not only slavery, but slaves prospered because of the basic humanity of Americans.

I expect Melissa Harris Perry to get on this any day now.

Clash (aka Elmo) had sex with him when he was just 16, TMZ reports.

It may be that Stephens just wants more money -- or he may just want the truth to be known.

OK, OK, human nature being what it is, he probably wants more money, but that's not clear from this particular story.

If he is regretting the part of the deal that required him to deny the truth, I have sympathy for him.

But if he's in tears because he sold out too cheaply....

Can someone who is wronged when he is a minor become a pimp for his younger self after he grows up? No, that's too harsh. Stephens is in a bad situation and making bad decisions. But that doesn't exonerate Elmo.

At some point the Gaza residents will start taking out the missile crews themselves the moment they show up somewhere and start to unload.

300 Read that story about the federal judge in Oklahoma who ordered Christian-run company Hobby Lobby to provide insurance coverage for abortion pills to its employees.

Here's a quote from the brilliant judge:

“Plaintiffs have not cited, and the court has not found, any case concluding that secular, for-profit corporations such as Hobby Lobby and Mardel have a constitutional right to the free exercise of religion,” the ruling said.

My copy of the Constitution must have been misprinted. The First Amendment on mine left out the part about how Congress shall make no law prohibiting the free exercise of religion . . . except when it comes to secular, for-profit corporations, in which case Congress can do whatever it damn well pleases.

Or maybe that missing clause is one that only emanates from penumbras visible to enlightened federal judges?

Egypt has numerous modern fighters and MBTs, along with a new MuslimBrotherhood government. Jordan, even, is looking unstable and Muslim Brotherhood-jihadi activity has increased. The overall security situation facing Israelisalarming.

306 Syria is a seething mass of Shia and Sunni jihadis with one of the world's largest chemical weapons stockpiles.

Which will stay put...unless they got some 5,000,000,000SPF sunscreen handy.

309 They should just cut everyone's back to 27 or whatever.

Part-time is turning into the new normal. Within 4 years, everyone will be part time or a "contractor" getting 1099'd.

Action-reaction. Its basic Newtonian physics. Liberals don't understand basic science.

311 indians did awful shit back in the day. constant warring amongst the tribes and wholesale slaughter of women and children. (to be fair, we did too)

Here's what I tell my liberal sister:

We didn't make up the rule Might Makes Right, the natives lived by it, everyone lived by it since the dawn of man.We were just better at it. And while we didn't make up Might Makes Right, we (Western Culture) did what no other dominating culture did before it: We effectively and voluntarily rescinced the rule. You're welcome.

And the land? Yes, we stole it. And we're not giving it back. Got it?

314 Anybody watch the Oklahoma Dustbowl by Ken Burns? I don't know if I want to be subjected to his usual lefty claptrap.

Posted by: Walkers! at November 20, 2012 11:00 AM

My mom told me many stories about growing up during the Dust Bowl. She was born in 1931 and one of her earliest memories was of a blackout dust storm. They lived in old leaky houses, as did most people on the Plains in those days, and the dirt blew in a coated them and everything they owned. My dad was telling me the other day about him and two other boys riding their horses several miles on a bright, windless day and then having to ride back home when a dirt storm blew in and they could not see anything in front of them. But they knew the wind was from the north and the road home was north of them. The buttons on his shirt blew open and he could not keep them buttoned. He said he was never so cold in his life

315 In my circle of friends, we differentiate between Types of Indians with this term:

Dot or Flower

Indians with Dots? Or Indians with Flowers?

So far all the Dot Indians and Flower Indians that have encountered it seem to deem it politically correct.

YMMV.

317 After my 4th EEO complaint as an Army company commander I began to wonder if I was the problem. I was squeaky clean on the investigation every single time, but I still thought it was me. I mean...it had to be me, right? I was in charge.

I have a buddy who's in that situation right now. He got slapped with an EO complaint by a shitbag soldier and has spent the last 10 months fighting it. His Chain of Command is giving him a letter of repremand even though they can't point to any specific event that was wrong. In essence, the fact that someone gave him an EO complaint means he's automatically guilty.

318 This idea that your employer owes you everything is nuts. You get a salary, pay for your own fucking morning after pills.

When I was younger, I did freelance which paid more. People would always whine, but what about medical benefits!!1!!. Guess what: I bought my own medical insurance. I was young and it was cheap.

319 Point taken, and yes we did. It came to mind as I watch a couple of relatives - removed - give their significant others passes over cheating dishonest behavior. Because of their color and unfortunate "backgrounds". How nuanced, how progressive, how multiculturally understanding! As their lives inevitably go down the shitter. They get praise from their progressive friends for their behaviors and understanding, tragically.

That drives me absolutely insane. Telling someone they have no hope to overcome, perceived or otherwise difficulties, when it happens on a daily basis and calling them stupid.

322 Rubio's answer on the creationism question was the typical politico's slice and dice. If you think the world was created in seven days just have the stones to say so. It's not as if plenty of politicians haven't held those beliefs and gone on to win elections.

323 262 Why would the Feds want to read my E-Mail? I don't even read my E-Mail.

There are people I talk to about once a month that still like to point out the fact that my voicemail is full and they tried to leave me a message but couldn't each time we chat. Somehow, I manage to figure out they want to chat...smoke and mirrors or something, idk.

Seriously - some of them have literally been doing it for 3-4 years. I mean, shit, it's been full that long...lol

I didn't get the memo when the entire interpersonal communication paradigm changed and the caller started determining when the conversation was going to take place, not the answerer.

324 But the political science professor was not done there. She attacked Macy’s for featuring Donald Trump in a recent ad, saying the department store has “nearly a half million people [urging] them to discontinue their relationship with Donald Trump, who’s vicious, racialized attacks on president Obama’s citizenship have continued unabated.”

325 33 If the Dems ran an republican ex-governor if Texas who championed free markets, balanced budgets, and small government what do you think would happen?
-
I'm pretty sure about what would never happen. There would be no non-story "story" about an "N-word" rock.

If Perry had won the Republican nomination, that would have been a major national issue. Conservatives would have tried to laugh it off, and would have said that "your race card is maxed out". And after the defeat, they would have looked at the polls saying that yes Perry was more trusted on the economy, but Obama was thought by vastly more voters to "care about people like me," and they would be forced to admit that N-word rock had seriously damaged Perry, even more than Big Bird.
