| Stocks Down Again; Europe Falls Into RecessionPeople like to make excuses for Obama -- they love doing that, and they've gotten good at it -- and one I'm very tired of the "Europe is in recession, so American can't crawl out of its own" excuse. If America were leading the world economy, chugging along like a magnificent locomotive, we'd pull Europe out of recession, and everyone else besides. But instead we have our hopes pinned on Europe to grow the world economy for us, so we can follow in its wake? How about instead of "Obama can be excused for the poor American economy, because Europe is dragging us down" we say "Obama's failure to ignite the American economy, indeed, his determination to dampen it, is causing Europe and the world to fall into a global recession"? Nah. Can't say that. Lightworker. Doin' his best. Yet another day of declines, though prices didn't end as low as they were earlier. So expect a big fall tomorrow, as yet another tiny bubble of unfounded optimism gets burst. And Europe is now officially in recession. And our own economy is so weak it'll most likely follow suit. The euro zone debt crisis dragged the bloc into its second recession since 2009 in the third quarter despite modest growth in Germany and France, data showed on Thursday. The French and German economies both managed 0.2 percent growth in the July-to-September period but their resilience could not save the 17-nation bloc from contraction as the likes of The Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Austria shrank. Economic output in the euro zone fell 0.1 percent in the quarter, following a 0.2 percent drop in the second quarter. Those two quarters of contraction put the euro zone's 9.4 trillion euro ($12 trillion) economy back into recession, although Italy and Spain have been contracting for a year already and Greece is suffering an outright depression.Tampons are still legal though. We really dodged a bullet on that. Comments1

I'm noticing a very curious phenomenon.
When I try to post story links to Facebook the tone of the links change. Let me illustrate. There is a story from CNBC that I am trying to post. The body of the page contains the headline. "Dow Posts 4-Day Decline; Apple Drops 2%" I usually post stories to Facebook to try sway and tweak my more liberal friends. But when I post the story to Facebook it morphs to the following. "Stocks open flat after mixed economic data" I have been noticing this a lot lately where I see a story that could drive a point home that when I post it the story is changed subtly or substantially to change the tone and tenor of the story. I am going to start looking at the source code of the web pages to see why facebook is linking it this way. Because the body of the story I'm trying to post does not contain the muted parts that are being posted. Very curious. Posted by: General Woundwort at November 15, 2012 04:35 PM (RrD4h) 45

Somebody here said before the election that stock prices were inflated due to Bernanke pumping fake money into the economy. They will keep falling in fits and starts until they reach the actual value no matter what Bernanke does from now on. The values held until the election in the expectation of a Romney win and some sanity returning to the market. That support has been pulled out from the market and off we go.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Stock indexes closed lower Thursday, a third straight

As I've said before: The Obama victory can be likened to the victory by Francois Hollande in France, the Socialist candidate Hollande won against a backdrop of the European economy stagnating and France failing to enact harsh but necessary reforms. Hollande instead went in the other direction and doubled down on failing Francosocialism. Result? The French economy is completely tanking. His popularity has fallen through the floor, and so has that of his party. Learn the lesson contained herein. Obama is retracing the same trajectory. To the letter. If he can be made to own the failure of the economy next year, it will cripple the rest of his Presidency. Obama doesn't like being held to account. He doesn't like to work. He doesn't like details. DRAG HIM DOWN INTO THE MIRE. Force him to get to grips with the circumstances. He will back off and retreat to the golf course. The odds are excellent that Obama will leave office with the worst economic record of any modern President, ever. Eclipsing the previous records of Jimmy Carter and Lyndon Baines Bush. But this a long time coming, I think people are at the point of self preservation, I think they know it's wrong but everyone is looking out for number 1. We could have made the right decision 4 years ago but we didn't, and now we will pay for it. We could have cut spending, reformed entitlements, healthcare, and military spending, cut regulations not just at the national level but at the state level where most of the stupid regulations are made, we could have chosen a pro long term growth model but we didn't, we went for the quick fix the least amount of pain. We could have thrown the country into a pretty bad spot but with a considerably better outlook, unemployment would have been bad (it already was bad), but we would have found ways to grow, instead here we are circling the drain. America has changed demographically and culturally. So has Europe. The old historical patterns will not reassert. What I expect we may see instead is a resurgence of genuinely free market ideologies across Europe, rejecting the dead hand of _dirigisme_ socialism. They have no other way out. The cupboard is bare. Now I saw they were up to around 23.5% popularity about a week ago. In a European system, you don't need 50%, because of multiple parties. There are pretty big swings in party popularity year to year, many disband and reform relatively quickly. They could easily form a coalition with another anti-austerity group, the communists. Its' burning down.
Conservative's sole objective should be to make sure that Americans understand that Democratic policies are to blame. And it doesn't matter how long it takes, either. Look at the Left's Long March through the institutions. Look at Britain's Labor Party, which hung on through the longTory dominance all through the Great Depression and WWII, and then won so decisively that the Tories became just an alternate Labor party until Thatcher. The thing is going to burn, putting out fires is impossible, the only thing that matters is (1) covering yourself, personally and (2) making sure the public understands who started the fire. The only thing I have to complain about, in hindsight, was that the GOP did nothing about voter fraud. but since it's crazy to talk about voter fraud, here's the other thing that happened. 1. Romney needed to go hardcore after obama, not rest on competency and coast in 3rd debate 2. apparently, Romney needed to do something different with Sandy. 3. I've been thinking about a way to put blame on the president and not the Republicans in Congress for the worsening economy to come.
The House could pass a bill that... 1. Continues the Bush tax cuts for everyone permanently 2. Allows BUT DOES NOT REQUIRE *the president* to temporarily raise taxes up to a certain maximum for those making over $200K and above 3. The President could not raise taxes until February, putting distance between the passage of the bill and the president's action--more clearly placing the onus on him. The President would have a 3-month window in which to raise taxes. After that he would have missed his chance. 4. The taxes raised by the President would expire on a date certain (for example, on March 1, 2016) 5. Spending cuts would also be included in the bill. Congressional Republicans could say... * We did not raise taxes. We passed permanent tax cuts. * The President raised taxes. * We prepared the nation to be on sound footing again once this president's disastrous second term is over. What do you think? Jon Bon Jovi's daughter is off the hook in her heroin case.
Stephanie Bongiovi, 19, won't face charges after allegedly overdosing on heroin in a dorm room at Hamilton College in upstate New York, thanks to a new good Samaritan drug law passed last year, prosecutors said Thursday. Ian Grant, 21, the male friend who called 911, also caught the same break. "People will say she got away with murder because of who she is, but this law was passed so people don't watch somebody die because they're afraid of jail," Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara told the Daily News. "And you don't want the person overdosing to say, 'No, don't call,'" he added. He said Bongiovi would still be in hot water if she possessed a minimum of 8 ounces of heroin, but she did not. "It was an insignicant amount. Heroin does not weigh that much in the first place," he told The News. The decision means the co-eds can toss the tickets ordering them to appear in court Dec. 4. "We're prohibited by law from prosecuting," McNamara said. "We had no other choice but to dismiss the case." Police said Wednesday that Bongiovi, the only daughter of the legendary rocker, was unresponsive when help arrived at the Dunham Hall dorm shortly before 2 a.m. She was rushed to a hospital as investigators found heroin at the scene and recovered marijuana and glassine envelopes after obtaining a search warrant. She was charged with misdemeanor possession of heroin, misdemeanor marijuana possession, criminally using drug paraphernalia, police said. Grant was booked at the Kirkland police station on misdemeanor drug posession and released back to Hamilton. Yup that'll teach her. And for the record I went to Hamilton. We added an ENTIRE West Germany to the US economy (at a time when WG was the world's 3rd largest economy). The economy was rocking. Obama had the following help: 1) Fed rate at 0% 2) No inflation 3) No oil crisis 4) $6T in new debt 5) $1T in stimulus 6) shit tons of tax cuts/payroll taxes, cash for clunkers, whatever AND WITH ALL THAT, this stuttering clusterfuck of a miserable failure still can't put the economy on the right track. 388, I don't think 354 is a troll. But I am reposting this because the facts are incredibly shocking.
EXACTLY!!!! Why Romney didn't pound the table hard about this is beyond me. Let's look at the facts: Reagan faced: 1) No stimulus 2) Fed rates at 15% 3) Oil crisis 4) Double digit inflation 5) UE moving above 10% And yet, in JUST TWO YEARS, all these problems had been tamed and what followed was the longest period of consecutive GDP growth since those numbers were recorded. And you wonder why! Posted by: Prescient11 at November 15, 2012 05:48 PM (tVTLU) 398

which is probably why my lefty friends forward articles screeching about how awful Perry is for women. What, does he make the abortionists use sterile instruments? Posted by: HeatherRadish knows too much at November 15, 2012 06:20 PM (/kI1Q) 449
Actually the whole stock market decline can be explained by severe drop in binder sales.

Prepping is all well and good, but it's merely a foundation, not a house.
When civil societies hit hard times, they fall to their level of their highest communal institution. In Iraq, we saw that there was nothing between the State and the Mosque, so when the State fell, people sorted themselves by ethnic / religious status, and gravitated towards their religious leaders. Tribal identity, religious antagonism and ethnic grievance was what people identified with, and that's where they accumulated. It may be a structural weakness of rugged individualists, but we tend not to factionalize well. Nor was it necessary. For the last 200 years, we had the context of the Constitution to all live under. A live-and-let live mechanism that served a free people quite well. We don't see ourselves as tribal or ethnic Americans, just Americans, and find hyphenated Americans somehow odd. Once the Constitution goes, we're going to find ourselves adrift in a nation where the opposition finds factionalism all too easy. They will have the advantage organizationally over pockets of disparate preppers who intend to get by on their own pluck and resolve. That's the real consideration of the 'Let It Burn' phase. The most organized will have the advantage. Whether the burn ends in tyranny or rejuvenation will depend on how all parties weather impact with the crash, and what their goals will be going forward. Prepping is necessary, but survival plans without a political plan just means you'll be better fed than average as you're marched into a reeducation camp. sad but true, I don't know how I got to live during Reagan heyday and now see cultural confidence dip to zero as we plunge into Great Depression 2.0.
Just think, the JFK-Reagan-Bush the W revolution were just a mere operational pause in FDR's Operation Soviet America. We are back in 1933 Posted by: joeindc44 says choom on fuckers at November 15, 2012 06:36 PM (QxSug) 456
Even Clinton the triangulator was part of the Reagan period of prosperity (thanks to Newt G.).

Hey "He's a Mooslim" Allow me to Rub this in-
from a poster named Armando on the day of the election: whatever happens now, you own it. When the economy collapses, you own it. When the United States goes bankrupt, you own it. When the dollar is no longer the world's reserve currency, you own it. When a barrel of oil is over $200, you own it. When unemployment is over 25%, you own it. When Iran starts World War III and puts Israel under a bucket of sunshine (Samson Option, anyone?), you own it. When China turns east Asia into its own collection of suzerainties, you own it. Good night, and good luck. You're going to need it. Posted by: Armando at November 06, 2012 10:32 PM Posted by: FenelonSpoke at November 15, 2012 06:37 PM (T8WRP) 458
450 AK,
Our Constiution need not go if anything one can make the argument that we are the ones taking the founding with us. I am very serious about "when you reach your breaking point run red." The more concentrated the red is the easier a transition we'll have and make no mistake even if a peaceful transition you'll be looking at ~3-5 years on the lowball side and maybe 5-10. What you need to aks yourself is what is my "no more" point? Obarka is not about maintaining what was at all. Jugeared freak thinks he is the first Obamican or whateever the fuck....I don't want a post founders America I want a post SCOAMF America. If America were leading the world economy, chugging along like a magnificent locomotive, we'd pull Europe out of recession, and everyone else besides.
Like we did with east Asia in the late 90s. Gosh, the good old days. Posted by: BuddyPC at November 15, 2012 06:46 PM (jfUIE) 460
fools, economy what?
We are borrowing $1.3 trillion a year to push the economy ahead at a slow pace. That money is coming allegedly from Asia but also from the Fed printing money to buy that debt with. We are so fucked. Posted by: joeindc44 says choom on fuckers at November 15, 2012 06:51 PM (QxSug) 461

You can blame this on Romney if you choose. He did not "Attack" Obama. I blame it on the "Purists" that sat of their fat asses because Romney was not "Conservative Enough" for those dick-bags. I'd have voted for a "Ham Sandwich" rather than let the JEF have another term. A "Ham Sandwich" would have done less damage. Now we have to deal with it. L I B...
