Latino Poverty Rate Climbs to 28%;
Millions of Racists Take a Second Look At Obama

He's like a Tasmanian Devil of economic misery.

This, by the way, is due to a "revised" algorithm, which, it turns out, was only ready for publication after the election.

Latinos poverty rates climbed to 28 percent after the census reconfigured its algorithm to take into account medical costs and government programs. The Hispanic poverty level rose after the government took into account safety-net programs such as food stamps and housing, which have lower participation among immigrants and non-English speakers.

Overall, the ranks of America's poor edged up last year to a high of 49.7 million, based on the new census measure.

Just stressing, again, that these new numbers are only available post-election.

The numbers released Wednesday by the Census Bureau are part of a newly developed supplemental poverty measure.

...

Based on the revised formula, the number of poor people exceeded the 49 million, or 16 percent of the population, who were living below the poverty line in 2010. That came as more people in the slowly improving economy picked up low-wage jobs last year but still struggled to pay living expenses. The revised poverty rate of 16.1 percent also is higher than the record 46.2 million, or 15 percent, that the government's official estimate reported in September.

Romney quoted that 46 million figure a lot, if I remember right. And he was wrong. It was worse. As we're just finding out.

In other news, first-time jobless claims surged -- really surged -- last week.

Get ready for the "it's all Sandy's fault" barrage, because the post-reelection status quo sure will desperately need it today. The latest initial claims data posted a multi-year high 104,548 surge in weekly NSA claims from 361,800 to 466,348, and even the Seasonally adjusted number soaring from 361K to 439K on expectations of a 375K print. In other words, a complete disaster for any economic data bulls. What is truly amusing is that the same Wall Street "experts" who set expectations were unable to foresee the Sandy effect that every "macrotourist" on Twitter apparently is so very aware of. Also, it is apparently also "Sandy's fault" (now that the Bush excuse is back in retirement) that the prior week's claims were revised from 355K to 361K. Basically, just as we said 3 weeks ago, ignore every negative data point: it is Sandy's fault.

See, for example, CNBC pushing the "It's all Sandy's fault" line...

Super storm Sandy drove U.S. weekly jobless claims up to 439,000, while consumer prices rose slightly last month as higher rents and costlier food offset cheaper gas.

...though I don't know if Sandy went back in time four months to slow New York manufacturing:

Separately, a reading on manufacturing in New York State showed that factory activity slowed in November for a fourth straight month.

It is terribly frustrating and dispiriting. I don't know what could possibly wake the public up to the possibility that Maybe Obama's policies are hurting the economy. If God Himself came down with a Holy Whiteboard and explained the connection between burdening job-creators and rising joblessness, I think the American public would still vote for Free Condoms.

In addition, Chris Matthews would claim that God's Holy Whiteboard was a "dog whistle" for the "ethnic talk types."

Two marksmen using Barrett M82A1 50 calibre rifles simultaneously fired. The bullets were six seconds in the air. One killed the Taliban commander. It is not known for certain which sniper fired the fatal shot.

While there have been no triumphant press releases, in the tight global Special Forces sniper community the shot is much discussed, because it seems certain to be a world record.

As the bullet yawed through the thin air on a windless morning, GPS aids measured the distance at 2815m. That amounts to 2 1/2 times the length of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The targeted Taliban would not have heard the gunfire.

91 I've been doing some reading, and it's kind of depressing.

Until the People figure out that what's being taken is their property rights (and make no mistake, that's what's happening) people won't demand that things change.

People will soldier on under all kinds of oppression, but once they wake up to the idea that "hey, I made that- it's mine!" and then to the fact the government is taking it from them, then the shit gets real.

It's what precipitated the American, French, and Russian revolutions. The difference of course being that one of those was lead by peopel who really revered Liberty and didn't just want to put themselves at the top of the pile, and the other two... weren't.

On the other hand, it actually takes a fairly low percentage of people to figure that out, and really get mad about it, to make it grow to critical mass.

Welfare in the US in general is highly regressive in punishing personal success and rewarding people staying on the roles. It's a well engineered trap to keep people dependent. The Democrats blatantly promote the welfare system, often involving race, which essentially traps people as government serfs. It is disgusting and they need to be called out on it.

That could work and I think is something that would gather HUGE support. Immigration policy is at the bottom of the list as to why we are losing hispanic votes.
Only 87% of black men and I think 60% of hispanic men went for zero. We are getting crushed with MINORITY WOMEN.

We need to work on that.

193 Amnesty means many different things though. The compromise that needs to happen is simply worker status. No federal benefits and no citizenship.

That's amnesty. Legal residency and work is all the illegals were loloking to steal, in the first place. To give anything else is "aiding and abetting", perhaps even treason. But giving legal residency is pure, unadulterated amnesty and it's a total fucking deal-breaker - not just politically, but in general.

If people want citizenship, then they get to the back of the line behind everyone that followed the rules and is waiting their turn.

No. Illegals can NEVER get citizenship or legal residency. That is what the consequences of their raping of our sovereignty should be. NEVER. Period.

I think that's actually a brilliant way to go. And the GOP surely can read the polls and know that the issue of immigration reform is NOT why they are not doing well amongst hispanics.

Let's assume that most of them actually want to work for a living. (Yeah, I know that assumption is hard for you, butwork with me, here.)
How do you create the jobs the jobsthey need in order to surviv w/o government programs? Do you make it easier for businesses to hire people? How do you go about doing that? (Kinda like complaining about jobs being outsourced,w/o addressing the taxesand regulation that smother the attempts to run a business in America.)
How do you make it easier for people to start a small business in their homes/basements/garages and grow it from there?
by the by...insulting such people, your fellow citizens, more often than not- as many conservatives and Republicans are prone to do...is why they don't think that you 'are in touch with their needs.'
If you insult large groups of people, don't be surprised when they, as a group, don't vote for your candidates or policies. That'snot only common courtesy, it'scommon sense, folks.

Where to begin.

A guest worker program will require an expansion of government to administer, staff and manage this enormous undertaking.

These guest workers will need some identification, they would need to be able to operate above board in essence they will have defacto citizenship in name only.

I have been posting a lot of info on hispanic voting patterns maybe you have not seen them.

No Democrat has received less than 56% of the hispanic vote.

In 1988, two years after President Ronald Reagan signed the largest general amnesty in this countries history, the Democrat Presidential nominee gained 70% of the latino vote.

John "Mr Amnesty" McCain received 30% of the hispanic vote.

So you see my friend this fantasy that if we just amnesty millions of people who have historically voted with our opposition 4:1 they will somehow then turn on a dime and vote with us 4:1 is ludicrous on it's face and at its worst has menevolence at its heart.

Many Hispanics who voted for Obama are going to end up a lot like blacks who always vote for democrats. They sign up for the free shit and wonder why they stay near poverty in spite of all the free shit.

2) Guest worker status
3)Full blown amnesty/citizenship

Now, which option do you think is likely. 1 is a dream, there is not even enough support for that in conservative circles.
3 is a democrats dream.

We must address this and get it done once and for all. Or just ignore it and wait for a dem congress to fuck us.

Get it done and laid out is my view. Make it clear that if people want the golden prize of citizenship, they've got to go back to the home countries and get in line behind those that legally applied.

And btw, Mexican birthrates are now below replacement rate. Unless something crazy happens, we need to support Mexico's harsh enforcement of its southern border. Net immigration is now negative from the US.

Obama's only accomplishment, he made the US such a shitty place to live that a lot of illegals are leaving.

You literally have no idea what you are talking about.

The hispanics you think you are talking about are Floridas Cuban population.

Florida Cubans have been moving toward the Democrat party to be more in line with Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Mexicans, etc.

The vast overwhelming majority of hispanics vote with the Democrats upwards of 4:1.

California is home to the largest concentration of hispanics, the vast majority is Mexican they vote with the Democrats in margins approaching 10:1.

I don't exactly know what it will take for you and others to realize your living in a fantasy world if you think these voting patterns can be altered by giving amnesty to upwards of 15 million hispanic illegals.

Yes, hispanics over the years are natural dem. voters. But in the past it did not matter and republicans didn't do a lot of outreach. By their nature are they going to be dem voters forever.

I am not giving up in that respect. They always voted dem because pubs didn't really give a shit and didn't need to. It's like Bill the Butcher spitting at the Irish as they came off the boats.

3)Full blown amnesty/citizenship

Two sounds okay until some Federal Judge decide to go all "social justice" and finds the "Right to Citizenship" clause of the 14th Amendment.

Yes, I'm serious- some judge would say that you cannot have equal representation under the law if you are not a citizen with a right to vote, ergo anyone who wants to can just come across and declare themselves an American Citizen.

Also, you forgot this one: declare them illegal, and deal with each one on an individual basis. You know, like we're doing right now, only more-so.

Don't go hunting them down. Don't do any midnight raids. Just deal with them one-on-one, as the we find them. Most of them should be deported when found, some of them might not be.

But I guarantee you that if you grant them "guest worker status" then it will be about 2.7 minutes until some lawyer with a nose for some money and fame convinces one of them to sue on 14th Amendment grounds..

1. We compromised a LOT in supporting Romney. The fact you can't respect that even now is kind of disconcerting. Even after we through everything into it. We wouldn't have had to bite down hard and support the guy who signed into law the prototype for the signature piece of legislation that became Obamacare. Trust me when I say that, that took a lot of my pride. The very best we could do was a guy who thought mandates at the state level were OK. Thanks GOP.

2. If we lost by 10 points with one of the also rans we could have at least lied to ourselves and said they were too conservative. Romney wasn't too conservative, he's as moderate as we could possibly consider running. It forces us to face the fact the country either wants liberal, or doesn't care enough to know that they don't want liberal. Either craving totalitarianism or apathetic toward the prospect of it; either way a people ready to be ruled.

@Dave S.
317The envy is just too strong, and it won't be satiated by a few percent higher tax rate. The worse things get for the poor, the more they will demand more of the same. We've reached a tipping point. "
Yup. The suffering will increase, scapegoating "evil republicans" will continue and the dems consolidate their power.
The GOP should be harsh and blunt about the incompetence and fraudulence and hammer away with facts. Don't compromise anything.. but they won't.

344 just heard a radio ad for LINCOLN wow Lincoln sounds like a fuckin idiot D Day Lewis talks with this Mr McQuiggan accent (from those Carol Burnett skits) and the script sounds like it was written by a moonbat college sophomore

Posted by: soothsayer at November 15, 2012 12:53 PM (VE0cN)

Carol was Mrs. Whiggins. Tim Conway was Mr. Tudball. DDL says he's using that voice because it's more "historically accurate" to Lincoln's known sound. And the script was written by Tony "Reagan created AIDS to kill the gays" Kushner.

Yeah, I won't be seeing it, either.

350 347 jean,

Was holding up neither as ideal I was just saying....it actually deeply bothers me that if I forget they were GOP I hate both's actions with a passion.

The ONLY thing that justifies Lincoln is the Civil War, and TR that perhaps it hadn't been tried yet.

If you omit the ACW I deeply hate Lincoln's patronage issues.

351 #345 The Hispanics who do work for me were SHOCKED that I supported Romney. My son explained to them the scoop and they switched votes. My more than generous pay for their weekend work (all are legal and have full-time jobs) plus free lunch did not square with what they had been told about Republicans.

We have got to connect with these people who are being led to think we are some sort of Simon Legrees. There are lots of reasons for doing this, but number one is SURVIVAL. Both survival as a culture and political party, but also physical survival.

I think it is important that mobs not be roaming the landscape looking for GOP voters. The quicker we can make ourselves actual human beings who could help them, the more that will be defused.

Posted by: Miss Marple at November 15, 2012 01:14 PM (GoIUi)

352 @340

The leading proponent for amnesty, John McCain received 30% of the hispanic vote in 2008 which was 10% less than George Bush received in 2004.

Bill Clinton received 70% of the hispanic vote when hispanic voting patterns weren't even in the conscience of the country.

So the point is that hispanics are a natural Democrat constituency and the GOP needs to attract more white voters in order to offset this advantage.

353 325 ---- "I don't think the Right should engage in identity politics, pandering to one racial group is silly. I do think we should make the lefties pay for their commitment to racism, by ensuring every election includes several well funded diverse candidates. Ballot management, Chicago style writ large."
Posted by: Jean at November 15, 2012 01:00 PM (kUxiO)

THIS.
Don't even use the word "Hispanic" or "minority" or "Asian" or whatever! Put decent candidates of various backgrounds and appearances out front wherever possible in order to have an image that combats leftist race pandering. And you can work on preaching free-market, conservative values everywhere. But DON'T change the values and message of conservatism.

Posted by: Margarita DeVille at November 15, 2012 01:15 PM (C8mVl)

354 @348

George Bush did slightly better than average.

Whats your point?

The leading proponent for amnesty, John McCain, did worse.

The average vote discrepency is 65-35% Dem/Republican.

What policy proscriptions other than amnesty, which has shown to make no discernable difference in hispanic voting patterns, would you suggest to invert this?

If you look at county-by-county election map, instead of a state map, you'll see that coal country was solid red. They were outvoted by compassionate urban and suburban liberals. It's not fair to blame them--and it's stupid to alienate our allies.

359 Latinos poverty rates climbed to 28 percent after the census reconfigured its algorithm to take into account medical costs and government programs. The Hispanic poverty level rose after the government took into account safety-net programs such as food stamps and housing, which have lower participation among immigrants and non-English speakers.

Bullshit. They ALL receive food stamps. Ever been to Wal-Mart or a Hispanic grocery store? That's all they pay with.

366 If I was Romney here what I would do;
1) Cash in every investment, sell all his houses in America and divest of anything American.
2) Buy an Island with a huge house and big boat and equip with pure over the top luxury
3) Post monthly Youtube videos when bad economic news comes out that just have the camera on him and his giant island home saying, "How's that hope and change working for you" and maybe add, "I was wrong it wasn't 47% it was 50% that are morons, enjoy America bitches."

367 "I don't know what could possibly wake the public up to the possibility that Maybe Obama's policies are hurting the economy."

I can answer that but it involves alot of pain. Give the Dem's everything they want, all R's in the house should vote present and let the gravy train speed to oblivion that would be the end of the media's narrative that it is all the evil Repub's and bush's fault. God help us it will really hurt a lot of Americans but I don't see any other solution.

The Social Evolution of Conservatives vs Liberals

The division of the human family into its two distinct political branches occurred some 10,000 years ago, when humans coexisted as members of small bands of nomadic hunter/gatherers.

The pivotal event of societal evolution was the invention of beer.
This epochal event was both the foundation of modern civilization and the occasion of the bifurcation of humanity into its two distinct subgroups: Conservatives and Liberals.

Once beer was discovered, it required grain, and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so it was necessary to stick close to the brewery. That's how villages were formed.

Some men spent their days killing animals to barbecue at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of the conservative movement.

Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting, learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly barbecues and doing the sewing, fetching and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the liberal movement. An interesting evolutionary side note: some of these early liberal men eventually evolved into women.

Liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the trade union, the invention of group therapy and group hugs, and the concept of democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that the conservatives provided.

Over the years, conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant.

Liberals are symbolized by the jackass. Modern liberals like imported beer, but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare.

Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels than their men.

Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn't "fair" to make the pitcher also bat.

Conservatives drink domestic beer; they eat red meat, and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, soldiers, athletes, and generally anyone who works productively outside government. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.

Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to "govern" the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America. The liberals crept in after the Wild West was tamed by the conservatives and then created a business of trying to get MORE for nothing.
