1 Saw this the other day. Bummer. He's clued me into plenty of good anime series.

2 He's a blogging giant. USS Clueless was one of the earliest blogs I read, circa 2002 or so. I haven't followed him lately since I'm not interested in anime, though.

Get well, Steven.

First Dan Riehl, now this. Who next among the Horde's circle of favorites is going to be hospitalized? I don't like this trend. Someone bundle the Ewok and cob-loggers in some Snuggies.

I got here because I was bored and decided to search for new blogs alphabetically. First or second time here I made some casual remark about Whitney Houston that got two Morons to start in on each other in a flame war about which one was more teh ghey. They were hilarious and I think they migrated away long ago.

39 DenBeste has wrote some great stuff before he stopped and went all anime all the time years ago. I always wondered why. My assumption was that, since he wrote critically of both the Left and Islam that he got tired of the constant personal attacks of one or both of those groups.

He seemed like a pretty hard-core introvert so getting that level of outside attention could have scared him off blogging political/contentious issues. Too bad.

believe it was noted here that that was why Giffords didn't resign until
a full year after she became too disabled to serve...had to hit the
five years).

The article said he was just reelected to his 10th term, had recently applied for disability pay and that it would take some sort of congressional approval that wont be coming for a bit. I'm short on details. I couldn't make it much past the headline.

The entire MFM is doing that. Somehow a storm that hit a part of the east coast affected unemployment in the whole country. And how did people lose their job because of a storm? Are they unemployed because they can't make it to work for a few days?

102 –Romney says president Bill Clinton called him after
the election and said he might have won if not for Hurricane Sandy.
Romney: “I spoke with president Clinton the day before yesterday, he
called and spent thirty minutes chatting with me. He said a week out I
thought you were going to win. And he said, but the hurricane happened,
and it gave the president a chance to be presidential, and to look
bipartisan, and you know he got a little more momentum, and of course he
also said that when he was watching Ann speak at the Republican
convention, he decided he was tempted to join the Republican Party. So
he may have just been effusive with generous comments as he chatted.”

112 I can't possibly understand why Texas Instruments is laying off 5%. Therefore it must be racism and the government ought to force them to stop.

Seriously, that is where we are headed. It will be here far sooner than you think. The rule of law is virtually dead. May you fire someone, change the prices in your restaurant, or even wash your own fucking car in your own fucking driveway? These decisions will no longer be based upon clearly understood laws or your rights to your own property. They will be based upon how much political pull and popularity you have, or whether you think your neighbors will rat you out.

It's going to feel a lot like the former Soviet Union very soon.

132 39 DenBeste has wrote some great stuff before he stopped and went all anime all the time years ago. I always wondered why. My assumption was that, since he wrote critically of both the Left and Islam that he got tired of the constant personal attacks of one or both of those groups.

As I recall, he got sick and tired of "helpful" suggestions of what he should write about, nitpicking errors in his posts, etc. Correspondence from readers took up more and more of his time until it wasn't fun anymore.

He finally said, "Screw it, I'm just going to write about anime."

133 Judge Roy Bean,
If you are currently in commie land but normally live at your Texas Ranch, then I am indeed the same. I'm glad to hear about your wife. Sorry you were unable to attend.

USS Clueless or Allah Pundit were my original reads, with PW and Ace very soon after. By the time Steven closed up shop with the Clueless, I has started reading him at Chizumatic, his current site. I have been tempted to start a blog with Pixy just so I can comment there. Ace and SDB are sort of a living history of the mee.nu history.

I hope Steven gets well soon, and I hope this post gets to him somehow.
