Oh, and can anyone in Ohio explain how African Americans actually came out more for Obama than 2008 without any voter fraud? What is the actual population there? Any takers?

17 "picking Senate candidates for 2014."

And making sure that between now and then, Obama owns the economy. Which is not going to magically turn around between now and then. It's just going to be more stagnant suckage.

Frankly, the best possible thing might be to just let sequestration happen.

And have every single GOP pol issue a simple statement: "This is the legislation that the President signed into law. We are respecting his wishes as he expressed them at that time."

Repeat that statement for the next two years. Obama wanted this; he gets this.

Endurance is the tough part.

Actually, reminding your 'D' acquaintances in about 8 months that they voted for Teh JEF, as they endure the economic hit of ObamaCare to their paycheck ... or get their hours cut to 35/week ... or have to start looking for a (new) job ... and not laughing, will be the tough part.

Endurance ... we've already endured 4 years of Teh JEF ... and 6 years of Democrat spending.

We can endure another 2 years ... we just need to make 2014 count.

51 This is being passed around the Mormon email-osphere, I found it uplifting, thought I'd share:

"Dear family and friends,

I'm still rather numb from the outcome of the election yesterday. So hard to believe that half the voters in the U.S. could turn away from a principled man, intelligent and prepared, who so clearly had answers for the benefit of our country - and instead selfishly choose someone who spoke to their narrow self-interests in spite of the ineffectiveness of his leadership. Someone from work sent this to me today, and it's provided some perspective and a seed of hope. I hope that you will benefit from it as well.

Onward and forward . . .

"Men may fail in this country, earthquakes may come, seas may heave beyond their bounds, there may be great drought, disaster, and hardship, but this nation, founded on principles laid down by men whom God raised up, will never fail. This is the cradle of humanity, where life on this earth began in the Garden of Eden. This is the place of the new Jerusalem. This is the place that the Lord said is favored above all other nations in all the world. This is the place where the Savior will come to His temple. This is the favored land in all the world. Yes, I repeat, men may fail, but this nation won't fail. I have faith in America; you and I must have faith in America, if we understand the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are living in a day when we must pay heed to these challenges.

I plead with you not to preach pessimism. Preach that this is the greatest country in all the world. This is the favored land. This is the land of our forefathers. It is the nation that will stand despite whatever trials or crises it may yet have to pass through." Harold B. Lee"

56 "If we went back to the Clinton economy it would be hell on earth!"

dude even if you wanna argue that deficit reduction under Clinton helped the economy he obviously had built-in structural advantages that Obama does not. Raising upper-income taxes won't destroy the economy, no, but Obama's 1) raise taxes 2) ???? 3) profit! Clinton analogy doesn't exactly work either.

also this constantly liberal labeling of Obama as Mr. Centrist has to stop. you figure you guys would be proud that there's a true-blue lib in the White House, instead of trying to obscure it.

Posted by: runninrebel at November 12, 2012 08:24 PM (J4gw3)

59 A lot of smart, charismatic conservatives here in Bristol County MA decided it would ba a swell idea to start the Bristol County Conservative Committee.
They have their meetings and they talk on their email lists about conservative local candidates, both republican and democrat. And they raise money from heir members and donors by having events where they invite noted conservatives to speak and they serve dinner and whatnot.
Which is fine, but it totally de-blooded any potential Bristol County Republican Committee. An old defunct organization which I intended to bring back with one of my associates. And it sucked the energy out of the room down here that could have been used for activism-- to put pressure on our representatives in state and local government to do what we want them to do.
Because they don't do that. It's not done, you see. They would prefer to have access to, rather than have influence over, lawmakers. (Remind me to tell you the difference some day.). To be their buddies, and not crack the whip of reform.
Someone is getting rich off this scheme. Maybe not yet, but soon. As I said, it's a fairly new group. And a lot of that money is comin from Democrats or people who are Democrats at heart.
It's clear why such a brain and heart drain is good for a Democrat operative or donor here in Massachusetts: they tie up conservative activists, keeping them from changing anything, and cock-block any similar Republican group looking to enact real change.
These mutual masturbation societies are probably more common than their effective, change-agent analogues. Like the Herman Cain project, it seems easier to just move in the echo chamber of like minds. And it's easier to engage in a cult of hero-worship than it is to slay Leviathan.

Not as bad as this. This is hard.

But I figure that if Romney had won, we would be catching vague wisps of rumor about Mike Leavitt busily picking out a nice pleasant well mannered Cabinet full of nonconfrontational RINO squishes.

Making it clear that the Romney agenda was not to blow up the senile and staggering Free Shit Imperium, but merely to technocratically tinker around its edges here and there with Harvard MBA "initiatives" and "restructurings".

Meanwhile, reflect on one of the greatest things we have going for us. Barky's inherent laziness. You think he was averse to work in his first term? King Putt, his place in history now secure, is scarcely going to be around the White House at all. Those golf links are a'calling.

94 Mildly annoyed.

Coupla months ago, DirecTV called me and told me that my ancient DirecTV box will stop working soon (apparently they're changing protocols or something) and I need a new box.

So the new box arrives today and I hook it up.

The annoying bit? It somehow knows when I turn the TV off (even if I use the TV's remote instead of the DirecTV remote). When it turns on, it spends a couple of minutes running tests and downloading information from the satellite before showing me a picture.

I used to leave the old box on so that I could instantly have a picture as soon as the TV turned on, but I *can't* do that with the new box because it somehow knows that the TV's been turned off.

I *assumed* that it figured out by watching the remote, so I tried programming the remote to a code that *doesn't* work on my TV, but it *still* somehow knows when the TV gets turned off.

The AppleTV also turns itself off, but that makes sense; it's connected via HDMI; it has to actually talk to the TV (thank you, MPAA). But the DirecTV box is just connected by RF on good ol' channel 3.

It's like I suddenly have to wait for the picture tube to warm up or something.

Could be worse, I suppose; it doesn't take as long as loading microcode from a TU58 into a VAX-11/730...

Maybe it's a good thing that Romney lost.

The last thing a con man wants is to still be around when the con takes a dump ...

... and BO is wedged in to the White House for 4 more years.

No one can afford his monogrammed, superstar grade ObamaCare. A bunch of states are fighting it, but, more importantly, the people in the states that implement it are going to feel it ... the economic equivalent of a monthly digital exam, by a doctor who played basketball in college.

EPA and other bureaucratic (and extra-Congressional) regulations are going to cost more jobs, particularly in blue states ... the newly unemployed will be keenly aware that BO is the cause.

The list goes on.

Gauging from the reaction, without the hatred of republicans that they've nurtured, they have little to hold those who vote for them. They can't come up with anything positive, just class warfare and hatred of Republicans, who they're convinced are socons who are too stupid to see how the rich white oligarchs trick them through Fox News.

They admit their own party is bought and paid for by the rich, but hatred of The Others far overcomes that.

181 ""If we went back to the Clinton economy it would be hell on earth!""

Obamanomics != Clintonomics. (That's a "not equal" sign for those unfamiliar with it.)

Pop quiz. What was the single most salient feature of the Clinton economy which distinguished it from all previous economies going back several decades?

Answer: under Clinton, if only briefly, federal spending growth per capita actually grew more slowly than did GDP growth per capita. That was a big part of where that, y'know, briefly lived federal surplus came from.

The last time that had been the case was in the 1950s. It once again stopped being the case after Lyndon Baines Bush took over in 2001.

Tell us, oh wise oracle, when we can expect under Obama for federal spending growth per capita to fall back below GDP growth per capita. Because if that doesn't happen, there will be no return of the "Clinton economy". Yet every chart shows spending per capita accelerating steadily away from GDP under Obama.

Oh! Also, there was a second key ingredient of the "Clinton economy".

It was that universal health care was considered, and shitcanned as overly expensive and unworkable, early on in Clinton's first term.

So if you want to recreate the conditions of the Clinton economy, it also means backing out Obamacare. When can this be expected to occur?

But wait! There is a third factor. Clinton signed on to "welfare to work". Whereas Obama has basically removed the work requirement. So restoring the Clinton economy means making welfare mooches go get a job. No sign of that any time soon either.

With each passing year, the difference between the Clinton years and the Obama years becomes more undeniably apparent. Because they really are two fundamentally different policy sets.

201 Okay, I know losing sucks. I know some of you believe there was a chance to turn things around and you think that chance is gone now. I know it's a little scary to think what crazy things will come out of the government in the next few years. And I know it's difficult to be informed in an ignorant society. But those thoughts will pass. We were already on this road. We've been on it a long time.

And there are a couple of bright spots. One is that, if you are prepared for what's coming, it is actually rather thrilling to watch a grand order such as the Progressive State come to an end. I mean, imagine being a person who loves freedom watching a hundred years ago as this monster was given life and knowing you will never see the end of it.

Get prepared so you can be ready to influence what comes next and enjoy the view of this beast crumbling.

Another bright spot is that these people, and especially TFG, are gigantic balls of fail. Even when they win, they lose. They lost 9 million votes in fact. Over the next four years we are going to see even more bungles, more screw-ups, more stupid policies and absurd decisions being made. Poor Barry from Occidental is going to be left all alone, over his head, in a job he hates, with nothing to do but blame others.

At least try to enjoy watching the MSM as they try to cover for him and pretend he's anything close to what they thought he was.

Remember that 2014 is only 2 years away. There is a small chance that no Conservative judges will leave the bench until then.

I think 2013 will be particularly unpleasant; sustained higher unemployment ("officially" 9-11%) and that there will be much buyer's remorse among I's, if not several "Come-to-Jeebus" moments where they realize that their protest votes are the cause of their woes.

Perhaps in 2014 the Senate can change to 49 or fewer D's. I think the "Todd Akins" will be quietly shuffled off, so we will have credible candidates. Perhaps we will get lucky, and force reasonable SCOTUS candidates to be considered.

I think Kegel and Sotomayor are the last of the "ideological" appointees we will see for a while. Robert's sale of his vote has likely hardened several Senatorial attitudes ...

Lots of "perhaps" here.

I think the American people simply decided that there was not enough pain to change this year. But maybe soon.

241 apropos of nothing at all.

Here is all you need to know about how doing another round of amnesty will go.

Many of you are probably unaware, but the GOP used to own California.

Richard Nixon, yes that Richard Nixon, was a congressman and Senator
and Reagan was Governor from '67 to '75.

Do you think men such as these will ever be elected in California ever again.

Surely not!

A Brief History of the Presidential Voting History for California with a little background

1965 - Immigration and Nationality Act Passes

Ted Kennedy: "First, our cities will not be flooded with a million
immigrants annually. Under the proposed bill, the present level of immigration remains substantially the same... Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset.... Contrary to the charges in some quarters, the bill will not inundate America with immigrants from any one country or area, or the most populated and deprived nations of Africa and Asia....

In the final analysis, the ethnic pattern of immigration under the proposed
measure is not expected to change as sharply as the critics seem to think."

THIS AS WE KNOW WAS A LIE

1968 - GOP
1972 - GOP.
1976 - GOP.
1980 - GOP.
1984 - GOP.
1986 - Simpson/Mazzoli Amnesty Act Passes. Largest general amnesty for illegal immigrants due to our cities being flooded by the '65 act.

1988 - GOP.
1992 - DEM.
1996 - DEM.

1996 - Illegal Immigration Reform and Responsibility act - Smoke and mirrors that was neither reform nor responsible.

It's main function was to water down sponsership requirements putting chain migration on steroids.

2000 - DEM.
2004 - DEM.

2008 - The political class tries to do another round of amnesty but is rebuffed by public outcry

2008 - DEM.
2012 - DEM.

California is now entirely Democrat and will never vote for another GOP President again because of massive unchecked illegal immigration to that state.

Here is an article from the PEW center on hispanic voting patterns.

http://tinyurl.com/6uuc4

No Democrat has received less than 56% of the hispanic vote.

Two years after signing the largest general amnesty for Hispanics, the GOP nominee garnered 30% of the hispanic vote.

John "Mr Amnesty" McCain received 31% of the hispanic vote.

George W. Bush did the best with 40% of the hispanic vote.

On average Democrats get 65% of the hispanic vote.

The GOP will be committing suicide if it does another round of amnesty

Balkinization and ruin is the fate that awaits the country if we are stupid enough to commit suicide but seeing as we have idiots in leadership positions and within the ranks of the Conservative "intelligentsia" this seems the likely outcome.

252 "Lay out a ton of facts, and you still get a reply of "party of rich old white men and religious nuts" when the word republican comes up. Even among people who are otherwise reasonable"

...maybe we could start by curtailing the nomination of rich old white men and religious nuts? o.O

it's hard enough to change the negative brand image with the media working hard at every step to reinforce the perception.

it's even harder when we play right into the accusations by nominating a rich old white northeastern banker 4 years after the 2008 crash...and right smack in the middle of the recession caused by that crash...not to mention all the far-right religious nutjobs who are all-too happy to mix religion with politics on the public record.

not that it makes any sense, but if you google "broun lies from the pit of hell" to pull up stories on the GA state rep who used that language to describe fairly innocuous modern science, you get a portrait of MITT ROMNEY to the side of the news story link.

334 Okay. I have a serious question.

When our son came home from the Sandbox, I insisted he bring home his dirty clothes for me to wash. I literally insisted.

Actually, the only dirty thing he brought were his desert camos.....fresh from A-Stan.

I emptied the sand out of the pockets, and, being a crazy mom, held them to my face and breathed in the "scent" of where our boy had been before washing them.

That Jill Kelley woman is wearing either A. a dress from the juniors department or B. a tunic blouse.

It IS NOT a womans dress. The proportions are way off.

That means she is a grown woman trying to look like a teen. Worse, a grown woman trying to look like a teen at an event where other women are dressed for an adult gathering.

The older I get the more I appreciate the term "age appropriate".

I've never met a woman who dressed so inappropriately for her age who wasn't desperately grasping for attention.

i really feel like the scott brown conservative is the way forward for the republican party...in ten or fifteen years, the type of loud-mouthed, echo-chamber theocrat that posts on AOSHQ -- because they can be nasty here and mean, just like jesus told them to -- will have all but died out.

republicans of a more moderate flavour whose commitment to small government extends to limitting the government's power to enforce compliance with religious scripture will be much more attractive to the nascent generation of america's next leaders than will the akins and mourdocks of twentieth-century tent revivalism.

374 FBI agents traced the alleged cyber harassment to Broadwell, the officials said, and discovered she was exchanging intimate messages with a private gmail account. Further investigation revealed the account belonged to Petraeus under an alias.

Petraeus and Broadwell apparently used a trick, known to terrorists and teen-agers alike, to conceal their email traffic, one of the law enforcement officials said.

Rather than transmitting emails to the other’s inbox, they composed at least some messages and instead of transmitting them, left them in a draft folder or in an electronic “dropbox,” the official said. Then the other person could log onto the same account and read the draft emails there. This avoids creating an email trail that is easier to trace.

401 As the criminal investigation continued into the emails to Kelley, FBI Director Robert Mueller and eventually Attorney General Eric Holder were notified that agents had uncovered what appeared to be an extramarital affair involving Petraeus, said one of the law enforcement officials.

Broadwell and Petraeus have each been questioned by FBI agents twice in recent weeks, with both admitting to the affair in separate interviews. Broadwell’s last interview took place the week of Oct. 22. Petraeus’ second interview was the week of Oct. 29. The FBI notified Obama’s director of national intelligence, James Clapper, of the investigation on Tuesday Nov. 6, Election Day.

Clapper called Petraeus that night and urged him to resign. Clapper informed the White House late Wednesday, and aides informed the president Thursday morning, before Petraeus came to personally hand in his resignation letter.

410 "[Relocating to red states] seems infantile to me. Maybe if you have no career, no family, no property, nothing you've built -- is that who we are now?"

If you live in a blue state, there IS "nothing you've built" that is yours. Not to the blueminded.

Was that lost on you as one of the key lessons we learned this election cycle? That "you didn't build that"? When you live among people who believe that, do not be surprised when they then act accordingly.

I know people who lived in Detroit in the 1950s. When it was an economic dynamo, a symbol of progress, and had one of the highest per capita incomes in the country. They then saw in the 1960s what was coming, and they executed a GTFO plan. Some friends and neighbors who remained behind said they were being alarmist and hysterical. Later, those who remained hugely regretted not having gotten out when they were able.

1) Prior probability of a longstanding respiratory illness being a tropical illness related to the clothes from Afghanistan = low

2) Prior probability of a chronic cough being an upper airway cough syndrome (post-nasal drip) after getting a viral rhinosinusitis after exposure from your son's pants (which may or may not have progressed to a bronchitis and may or may not have required antibiotics) = Very High

Therefore, go to 'a doctor' first, not necessarily a travel doc. Have them examine you. Then have them give you flonase and zyrtec, a neti pot, nasal saline and presto changeo, the chance you will be all better = very high.

My dad left southeast Kentucky for Detroit in the early 60s. He got a good job, met my mom, got married, and then I came along. Then, not long after, the riots came and Mom and Dad made plans to get out. He finally moved us back to his hometown in '71.

I posted a followup about my sis in NYC on one of the ONTs , but maybe need to post earlier in eve for those who care:

Ages ago Ace put up in the sidebar an anecdote I shared about my sis. She's gay, she's union, she works in theatre in NYC. . . and she voted for Romney. A die hard Romney fan, was excited to register and vote for him. Election night she was bawling at the results, like big gaspy sobs, and I tried to comfort her over the phone as best I could. Donors and foundations they rely on for money are drying up, they have had several cutbacks, and she is terrified she is going to lose her job, that her theatre will downsize and she'll be one of the first cut since she is younger; last hired first fired.
I tried to calm her, tell her A) her theatre is a NYC institution, so Obama and crazy Bloomberg would step in with federal money if things got really bad, because THE ARTS are more important, and B) because we were raised right she is a super hard worker and has become an essential staff member; no way will they can her. But she's still scared.

Had Romney gotten elected I was going to seriously consider moving out there to be with her and go back to school. Now? I'm terrified of leaving my stable job to pursue such a risky venture; people my age are getting chewed up and spit out in this economy. Maybe she will move back to Utah, where it is deep red and stable, before I have to make up my mind.

473 Then
cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto
the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.

And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.

Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

And
he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O
my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless
not as I will, but as thou wilt.

And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

He
went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if
this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.

And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

Then
cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take
your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed
into the hands of sinners.

Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.

The liberal "mainstream" churches are losing members, the conservative "fundamentalist" ones not so much.
Also,I assume that by "the first americans (sic)" you mean the Pilgrims and the Puritans, in which case I would like to politely point out that they both founded pretty explicitly religious communities when they got here.
Finally, I also point out that us socons are pretty sick of having your morality of "tolerance" forced upon us?

"Thanks! I can do all that myself without having to go to my douchebag doc."

If it's due to post-nasal drip, yes, the flonase will prevent mucous irritation, that 'tickle in the throat' people talk about, and will reduce your coughing and hence eliminate the hoarseness. However, you need a new doctor and you need to seem them. Because I'm telling you probabilities, I'm not telling you what's actually happening. And if your exam isn't consistent with post-nasal drip and you have awful hoarseness, you need to see an ENT doctor for a laryngoscopy (camera to look at the larynx). ENT wouldn't be my first step just because a regular doc can tell you by exam if they think it's post-nasal drip, and you avoid the laryngoscopy...

But now that we're older we ARE factoring in things like red vs blue b/c we can't afford to take the economic risk of a blue state.

517 Was that lost on you as one of the key lessons we learned this election cycle? That "you didn't build that"?

Not at all. You seem to think there are places in the US where it does not apply. I knew people who fled to Colorado because it couldn't happen there. Now it's happening. Easy way out, if you live in a van. I may wait until after they seize the buildings I built, my fields and gardens, the trees I've planted. Maybe really favorable real estate markets would be a factor in some people's decisions? I'd never get out of my land what I have invested in it, in money or sweat. I hacve good, clear fields of fire laid out here.

eman, a whole host of reasons might be good ones. Climbing on the bandwagon -- especially when you think its wheels are coming off -- isn't one of them. General purposes, though, I still have a prejudice against it. For too many I've met, it was simply running away from failures of several sorts, or following a fad. I can't see it as a mark of good character. I pity them.

it's a not the america of the 1950's, or even the 1980's -- and that goes too for young republicans who actually believe in small-gov't and freedom and not in using the state's power to cast judgment upon gay relationships -- and plugging your ears and screaming "la la la" at opinions different than your own isn't going to change that fact, chump.

59
wards represents a total of almost 20,000 votes cast in our fair city.
Now, no one who knows these heavily African-American districts would
expect Romney to be competitive, but political scientists traditionally
say that about 2%-3% of voters accidentally cast their ballot for the
wrong candidate. That would be around 400-600 votes for Romney by
mistake. No honest person would say urban elections aren't crooked,
but ZERO votes? It wouldn't have changed the result, but geez.. don't

624 Regarding the State secession petitions: a.) Never forget it really is Congress you should petition, they are the true power (or should be); b.) maybe some of the petitions should be consolidated into a more generic petition about Barack's opinion/willingness on allowing secession if the majority of a state desire it, since my guess is not all of the ones there right now are going to get to 25,000.

I have no great desire for any state to secede. I have a strong desire for the Left to realize the days of cost-free demagoguery are over. And...it wouldn't be altogether bad for formerly independent and soveriegn Texas laid down a marker for the future. In fact, quite the opposite.

There were a lot of people who hated Shelley Berkley. Heller was an acceptable alternative, and he made sure to turn out those who hated Berkley.

He won Washoe county (20% of state's population) easily, even as Obama was winning it. He absolutely crushed Berkley in the rural counties by massive margins, and kept Berkley to under 50% of the vote in Dem heavy Clark county (70% of the state's vote).

He personalized Berkley as corrupt and ripping of the taxpayers early, and hit her on that often. She did not have a chance to define him, especially since he was a past three-term Secretary of State for Nevada.

The fact that Berkley was an Auton working for the Nestene Consciousness didn't help her either.

632 jimi ray,

i basically agree on the abortion and gay marriage thing. religious folks have every right to oppose those things, but non-religious folks have every right to seek legalization of those things as well. That said, I disagree with non-religious efforts to force the hands of the religious - hence the birth control debacle.

My personal life experience is not a valid poll, but as a sub 35 y/o, I know only a handful of people from my time in IL, OH and MA who will ever vote Republican, even if they call themselves conservative and ostensibly care about the debt. These are the people who got sucked into the war on women thing. The election gave poll-like heft to my underlying hunch that we are not winning this issue (into the future). Thus I simply wish to social issues, about which I take a more libertarian stance, to the task of fighting the larger nanny state, anti-constitution haughtiness of the left. I view the latter issues as existential threats, and agree with jimi that we should break up the coalition so that orthodoxy on social views isn't a prerequisite for fighting the nanny state. though at this point, who seriously believed obama when he said this was more than a collection of red and blue states, this was the USofA? Perhaps it is no longer profitable to be thus aligned. Personally I think red stater's only prayer for solvency in the future is by jumping ship to secession-land.

685 @ kdbabear There is an excellent movie named Conspiracy. It is a simple one setting film about the Wansee Conference where Reinhard Heydrich consulted with a dozen Nazi heads finalizing the plans for the Final Solution in the winter of 1942. One of the Nazi heads topk exception to the brutality of what was being proposed by Heydrich, who was acting on direct orders of Hitler, Goering, and Himmler. I forget the dismayed Nazi's name, but he stood up to Heydrich and asked him if he could tell him a story. He began by saying there was a man who had a father who was a severe taskmaster, and as a result was always very mean to his son. However the sons mother was opposite. Always loving and nurturing. Years later the mother died. And to the surprise of the son, he hardly cried. Sure there was sadness but not what he would expect. When the father a few years later it was different for the son. He cried without ceasing, he was inconsolable.
Heydrich was perplexed at the story pressed for an answer from his adversary. The storyteller said the sons life was completely involved in the hate his father had shown him, and thus was always trying to prove his father wrong. And when
the object of the son's hate was dead and gone, his cause fpr sobbing was the new lack of hate in his life. Heydrich asked what does this have to do with the Jews in question. The wise Nazi replied that be careful with degree with which you apply your genocide, you might eliminate all that which you live for, and when your done what will your empty souls have?

Read a History book! Who cares if Republicans can't win...when the Progressive philosophy is shoved down the throats of the population they will reject it. If you guys would have understood that the founders set up the structure for partisanship, a system of checks and balances....and at the end of the day...without a strong opposition the system breaks down and goes thru cycles of structure.

When the idiots of the Left finally figure out that they need a strong Republican Party just as bad as Conservatives do.....if we still exist...the Republican Party and Conservatism will thrive. You guys just better hope they don't end up destroying the Democrat Party after they realize what they have been manipulated into supporting.

693 Willow,

We need a long term strategy and a short term strategy. We can't be caught without a concession speech again. Sven, like many of us, after 8 years of GWB 'conservative' leadership, a McCain and Romney campaign are worried the yardstick we're pulling from is already on the left side of the field. Yes this election was not a blowout, and yes a better GOTV operation, voter ID laws and so forth might have won it for us - this time. But the writing is on the wall for next time and thereafter. Some of us need to question our first principles and rebuild, sometimes that means our hierarchy of values changes. Not because we want to be spoilsports, but because we want to preserve some tincture of what matters most deeply to us. I personally believe the ideals of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness and the sovereignty of states supersedes the imperative for a union and federal government.

our stamina for freedom is what matters most to me.

694 "but given the choice between scott brown and todd fucking akin, christians' delight, i'll take the former to my grave."

It's true that Brown didn't do damage to other Republicans elsewhere despite losing, while Akin did a hell of a lot of damage all over the country.

But it's unfair to say that Akin was a "Christians' delight". There are a lot of genuinely devout pro-life Christian conservatives, I would wager, who were horrified at his comments.

All different flavors of the same tripe...

696 682 T hunter,

I know but I am sincerely not mocking.

My headache's abating.

Give good loyal service to America if in uniform or in civil service, but not blijnd service.

If they are the Captain America's of the new era I plan to be their "dissent is the best form of patriotism" until they kill even that.....

then I will be either Elvis or an asset to whatever comes next.

i do not disagree with this comment; especially...

We need a long term strategy and a short term strategy.

==========yes

Some of us need to question our first principles and rebuild, sometimes
that means our hierarchy of values change==========yes

i do disagree trying to secede, not because i wouldnt prefer it.
no way would They allow it

699 685 Willow,

Ma'am I know us. The right has been kissing a corpse. They killed it they have used our loyalty as their final weapon and they always go further and we stop at the last second trusting in wisdom and deference to men long dead that only our side can name with regularity.

I am not saying those dead men we pay deference were wrong or their ideas unworthy I'm saying they are not carrying the document with that flag.

I know I've been a more erratic downer than normal and I'm sorry to all.

My brain today felt literally like boiling muratic acid.

Now I am slowly clearing my head and seeing that to give good honorable service to men FAR nobler and kinder than me who gifted us a free horizon to run to as far as we can I may need to quit encouraging blind devotion to people who follow men i hated with fury who inspired Stalin and mao.

No I am slowly getting clarity and clarity is preferable to blind work and enforced apathy.

Work hard folks and use your gains to prepare.

It may well be too many are too timid and we are all dragged whimpering into the windmill driven twilight of liberty this crowd wants...

I don't think so, but if it is so I'll go with people I love who don't mock the declaration or the constitution and who want little more than what they render.

I love y'all and we'll be fine if we're fine together.

His stupid schtick of acting how he thinks women act, i.e., the giggling, the little hearts, etc. were a give away. Plus, he copped to being a guy.

I wouldn't believe anything he says about anything. He's a troll with a gay rights agenda.

705 T. Hunter - I want to live in your fantasy republic. Can I go there in 2016 when Perry has the best chance to win? The republicans have to get a spine and rules on debates. There were far too many republican debates last year, and the only thing that made them watchable was Newt when he lit into the media.
Rules should be, no alphabet network moderator, it has to be someone from the Heritage Foundation or something similar. Remember how drunk Diane Sawyer seemed at one? The only thing that kept me from chaining the channel was reading comments here while debates were going on.
President Perry and First Lady Anita sound great and I hope he runs.
