1 Hmmm ...

Turns out Elmo was at Univ. Nevada Las Vegas yesterday at the Cocks -- excuse me, Cox -- Theater.

Right next to -- ahem -- Storytime at the Marjorie Barrick Museum / Harry Reid Center.

A national strike started Friday against Hostress, the Twinkie folks. Hostess is currently in Chapter 11 and is trying to reorganize, including pay and benefit cuts.

Company says the strike could make them close the doors and layoff 18,600 employees.

12 Dateline - KOGELO, Kenya
(AP) --

At President Barack Obama's ancestral village in Kenya, witch
doctor John Dimo tossed some shells, bones and other items to determine
who will win Tuesday's election. After
throwing the objects like so many dice outside his hut in Kogelo
village, Dimo, who says he is 105 years old, points to a white shell and
declares: "Obama is very far ahead and is definitely going to win."

15 Now that minority victimization/liberation theology has hit its stride we have a real problem on our hands. We simply do not have the votes to win if blacks vote Dem 95/5, Hispanics and Asians vote 70/20 and young people and single women turn out the way they did.

Let's face it, they are an electoral majority, and here is probably no realistic way for us to convert them to the kind of complex, long-term conservative thinking that will ultimately be for their own good in the long run but would require sacrifice now.

Throw in overwhelming media bias and fraud and our own bad candidates and missteps and aye, aye, aye ....

30 A late good morning.

In news of the explosion in Indianapolis: Citizens Gas got no complaints or reports about gas leaks or smells. They still have not found one, and are moving into going through the rubble of the empty house which exploded. Federal agencies, including Homeland Security and FBI, are assisting in the investigation. 26 homes are cannot be occupied until major structural repair is done. 7 homes are total losses. 200 people received minor injuries. 7 people were injured severely enough that they were transported to a hospital.

This blast happened about 5 miles from me. I didn't hear it because idiots were shooting massive fireworks off in our neighborhood. People who live about 4 miles west of the blast said it shook their homes. Killed were a young elementary school teacher and her husband.

Over an affair? One that happened even before the prick became CIA director?

I would say that I can't believe anyone is taking this seriously (and is not outraged by the blatant lies and stupidity) but then again, Shrillary is off jetting around the world to do jack shit and not coming to explain her role in an act of war against [what used to be] America.

I'm a Native American. But which Heritage should I remember? My (mostly Irish and German) Immigrant ancestors, or my rather less well known American Tribal ancestors? I mean, the Irish and Germans brought civilization and machines and such. But the American Tribes had all that noble savagery- which mostly involved early child death, inter-tribal brutality, and getting upset when conning those stupid White Men didn't work.

33 Obama demands that Congress takes action on "fiscal cliff".

He should just issue an EO to his direct reports to stop spending like maniacs...but then he'd be the one on the hook for all the protests about "cuts".

Fascinating, Vic. All one has to do to see beyond the headline is register or buy a subscription.

I mistakenly "registered" at a few sites some months ago, and my spam filter is now clogged with ads from Teh Noot, GOPUSA, Glenn Beck, Heritage Foundation and NRO. They all are clamoring for money.

Shit, they should pay me for putting up with all the "messages from their advertisers" I have to delete.

It's all about teh money. I suppose I should piss it away on them instead of letting Choom Boy steal it, but I sorta feel the need to boy food before I fatten their coffers.

36 The reason we Conservatives get defeated is; we never organize ourselves to do anything of substance...

Yea we protests with the Tea Party, but then just stand around and get defined by Oblamo and crew...

This is an Asymetrical task ... You cannot defeat the ideals in an "All in one Approach"...

You have to make the other side respect your ideal...or in other words give them undesirable CONSEQUENCES...

I vote with my Dollars EVERYDAY...

Why do Conservatives continue to buy UAW products when we know it is a money laundering scheme for the DNC?

Don't laugh. There is a definite possibility for a short term uptick in the economy. And SCOAMF will then claim "socialism works" and then quadruple down on it.

Then of course it all crashes down and Republican saboteurs and Bush get the blame. Maybe even the evil Joos.

When the bakeries and candy companies move their operations out of the country, or even a right to work state, it is to avoid the unions. They like to blame it on the sugar industry, but primarily it's the unions. I used to work in the business and that is the excuse they would use whenever the unions wanted to flex their muscle a a little bit more.

Long ago I worked on a street crew for a gas company-

NG has no odor- a chemical is added to make it stink

sometimes, if NG is leaking thru soil or some other porous material, the odorant can be scrubbed out- also, NG is heavier than air and can 'pool' like water, til it reaches an ignition source and goes all esplodey

78 That's old school NASCAR. Love it. When I raced late
Models at a little dirt track in Indiana I got two pieces of advice the
first time I rolled out onto the track, Go fast and turn left, and if
you get in a fight, don't take off your helmet.

Posted by: Oldsailors Poet, Wonders what Dagny thinks at November 12, 2012 09:26 AM

"Old school" NASCAR was when one driver took out another...not four others.

Yesterday was a massive clusterfuck on several levels, with NASCAR and Jeff Gordon coming out looking like jerks.

I miss the guys with actual skill and balls, like Dale Earnhardt Sr. He could nudge and rub with the best of them, and didn't whine when other drivers pulled shit. He simply got 'er done, as Terry Labonte can attest. Of course he could also go fast, which wins more races than bangin' into people.

The "New NASCAR" is a joke. To make manufacturers and sponsors happy, they have become the WWF with a rubber rule book and plenty of manufactured spectacle.

79 "407,000 Votes In Four States Away From The Presidency"

Yep. And what's even more incredibly ironic is that it's certainly possible 500,000 or more erstwhile Republicans in those states stayed home and didn't vote because deep down they really didn't care if Obama got reelected.

85 Anyone know how difficult/expensive it is to get an FFL?

Sort of difficult.

Aside from the paperwork, fees, and background check stuff, you must also prove that you intend to become a genuine dealer of firearms, not just a person wanting the license to buy and sell out of the back of your car trunk or bedroom. You have to actually show where you will be conducting the business, show all sorts of justifications, and prove that you will be in it as a bona fide dealer. Someone from DoJ comes to visit and interview you I think.

We are heading for a world of hurt.

Posted by: J.J. Sefton at November 12, 2012 09:28 AM (XkWWK)
Yep. This is the fundamental problem. Marxism frames our narrative, controls the agenda in America. It's so pervasive, J.J., that we are all self-censoring. It's just conditioning and thought-control. It's found even on this thread - forbidden words and attitudes that may not be voiced. Public school indoctrination.
The Left does own us, to varying degrees. Old books like "1984" and "Brave New World" were prophetic. Of course we are too sophisticated to acknowledge that. Now "sophism", that's an interesting word. Even the Right-wing heroes foisted on us engage in it.

91 When your party is made up of the 47% who don't pay federal income taxes, do you really care about issues like the deficit? Democrats get elected by the people who get money, not give it.

The Democrat solution to the deficit (raise taxes on the rich) is really just a way to shift more responsibility to their enemies (us, Republicans) to pay for their vote buying. Deficit spending isn't a problem for them, its a benefit, because it strengthens them and weakens us.

Either the poor need to be taxed, or the payers need to go Galt.

Petraeus:

Whether the guy was having an affair with his biographer is, to a degree, inrrelevant. But what is relevant was that this was being used to blackmail him.
And when his "biographer" started to leak things she had no business knowing, such as this little detail about "prisoners" being held at the consulate (perhaps for redactive interrogation, huh?), then he had fulfilled his usefullness to the Obama Regime.

Believe it or not, even though he was publicly pilloried by Hillary! in the Senate back in 2007, he was in the position as DCI because of her.
The entire Operation in Libya (from the bombing to support the "insurgency", to whatever else we were doing)was a Hillary! thing. When it all went to shit in September, Barry "voting present" Obama could have cared less because it was a Hillary! operation.
Petraeus was the most apparent, but other Hillary! allies in the Obama Regime willnow be purged to cleanse them of that influence. It will be the Barry and Valerie show now, Stupid is as stupid does.
Petraeus is now totally compromised and any testimony he has will be worthless in the eyes of many people.
It's Chinatown, Jake. There is no way that what happened in Benghazi and elsewhere will ever be examined by the Mass Bullshit Media. We wil never be told the truth because what we think doesn't matter.

407,000 Votes in Four States?

One of the things I kept hearing "before" was that it was going to be about turnout. If we believed that turnout was critical, and have learned that Romney's turnout machine not only suffered a catastrophic failure on Election Day, but was more lame than the statistics implied, then why isn't everybody pointing to that as the problem, instead of all the other crap we're hearing.

All the morons who volunteered - you did so because you assumed it would matter, right? So put a number to it.How many votes do you think might have reasonably been pulled in?

But I also want to know why we were hearing about recordamounts of early voting, and long lines everywhere, yet the total number of votes was lower. Was it just a load of hype? There are reasons people are suspicious. There could be perfectly reasonable reasons for things, but don't we deserve an answer - if from nobody else, than the party we supported? It doesn't sound like they've been straight with us.

I also want to know why we haven't heard about the Romney camp looking into voting fraud. Those margins are "within the margin of fraud". We're never going to win elections if we allow them to be stolen when we do win. Even if you can't do anything about it, you need to know where it's happening so you might be able to address it next time.

PS - WHT happened with the Senate? I had the probability of ourdoing that badly as 1/400 (Dave in Fla had the probablilty as zero). In a year when the Chicago machine is running things, I gotta wonder.

Last I heard was the the creme filling in original Twinkies was whipped lard and sugar. They say lard is the American olive oil, and having raised many, many hogs and butchered a few, I can tell you lard is nothing to sneer at.

Radio is telegraphing that we shouldn't look into when this affair started and why it didn't get revealed in the vetting, or if ti did, why he was made CIA director anyway.

I don't know. There were two people running against him in the 2008 primaries and they did not generate much support.

302 When Petraeus was up for the job as CIA Director he would have been vetted. He would have had to take a polygraph. Its SOP. He would have been asked about affairs, about any embarrassing or damaging information. They should have discovered the affair then.

When Kelly complained about the emails last spring (April I think) and they discovered the Petraeus connection, the Director of the FBI would have been notified, who would have notified Holder at DOJ, who then should have notified the JEF. They should have notified the head of the Intelligence Committee. All that would have been SOP.

When Petraeus was interviewed by the FBI in Sept and admitted the affair, the Director of the FBI, the DOJ, the Intelligence Committee, and POTUS should have been notified

They are lying. They all knew. I no longer think that Petraeus is gonna admit the JEF refused to make any decision and thats why Benghazi was such a clusterfark. He is not gonna tell the truth or he would have already

The administration hid it because it could not come out before the election that the head of the CIA was stuck in a Fatal Attraction relationship while the ME, and Benghazi, burned.

But Petraeus will support the JEF if he ever does testify. We are so screwed

322 The Myth of the Missing Three Million Republicans
Jack Cashill

A score of people this past week have asked me about the three million Republicans allegedly "missing" at the polls this year. For starters, if the Washington Post is to be believed, Mitt Romney received 1.3 million fewer votes than John McCain did in 2008, not 3 million. For the record, Obama received 7.5 million fewer votes in 2012 than he did in 2008.
More than 1.1 million of the Republican votes were "lost" in California. It is not that California Republicans turned against Romney. His percentage of the vote was higher than McCain's in 2008. It is just they know their votes were in vain in that increasingly absurd state. The same is likely true in New York State where Romney fell more than a half-million votes short of McCain's totals. Excluding these two states, Romney received 300,000 more votes than McCain.
That much said, the results in several states do raise eyebrows, most notably Ohio and Pennsylvania. Romney received nearly 100,000 fewer votes than McCain in the former and 35,000 fewer votes in the latter. In all the other battleground states, Romney improved both on McCain's raw numbers and his percentage of the vote. This includes Florida despite the fact that every vote south of Palm Bay down Florida's I-95 corridor is suspect.

333 Vic,

Do you think Tim Scott could beat Graham in Primary? If so, would he have trouble in general?

Posted by: Serious Cat at November 12, 2012 10:33 AM (UypUQ)

I am not Vic, but I grew up in South Carolina. You have to understand the machines there. Yes, even in SC, machine politics.

Lindsay Graham inherited Strom Thurmond's machine. There is probably no machine in SC that is more powerful, but there are some comparable. Whoever replaces Graham will need to be the candidate of a machine that can take on the Thurmond machine.

Machines are very regional - there is an upstate machine (Greenvile-Spartanburg), a Midlands (Columbia machine, and a Low Country (Charleston) machine. Thurmond's machine is around Aiken-Edgefield which is a curiously politically powerful area in the state.

Jim DeMint has the upstate machine. So there isn't enough bandwidth for another Senator out of there. Midlands is Joe Wilson (Governor Haley is from the Midlands, but she wasn't part of the machine and is an exception) and the Midlands machine is probably the one best prepared to take on Graham's Thurmond machine.

Tim Scott is from Charleston (Mark Sanford used to represent the district). It is unfortunately more of a Democrat area so the Republican machine there is not as powerful as it could be. That Sanford was elected governor says it is not impossible, but it really isn't the best place to launch a statewide Republican campaign. Plus, there is this - Tim Scott is African American, and I am not saying that SC is racist, but he just would not have the history with the machine that would be necessary to be successful as a candidate (note what I said about Nikki Haley - she's kind of an outsider, too.)

I don't know what the African American voter in SC thinks about Tim Scott, but given the way most AA Republicans are talked about, I am sure it includes the word "house."

So, in my honest opinion, Joe Wilson is probably in the best position to challenge Graham in a primary, but probably won't. As long as candidates are viable, the machines have a non-aggression pact.

Scott may, as an outsider, have the freedom to go against a Republican in a primary, but without a machine to support him, chances are slim.

Fair enough, but my comment (that you responded to) still stands. Obama's support was down. Ours was basically the same. (...if we accept Cashill's argument. I'm not sure I do because that would mean most of the R voters in CA and NY were super motivated by McCain and not by Romney and actively chose to sit it out when their vote had the same effect in both elections??? Not buying that sort of self-selection)

That tells me there's been no significant demographic alteration to the voting patterns since 2008. Or at least, one that dooms us as a party.

I dunno. Maybe I'm full of shit. I did buy into Romney after all.

You have to make the other side respect your ideal...or in other words give them undesirable CONSEQUENCES...

Part of the problem is that we do not have good racial numbers on who voted. We have selective EXIT polls... but not Nationwide numbers... because ethnicity is not part of the voting registration.

My threory is that Whites stayed home.... Obama DID make this a nasty election, when he gin'd up the Black and Hispanic votes, and so disgusted the White vote that it didn't vote.

THEY have been playing Racial Politics for years... and have 'trained' Caucasians to shut up.... that to even mention that the other side is Racist, is evil... yet.... THEY play those games... and divide us along Racial lines.

Its like the Islam thing.... when is the West, as a whole, going to figure out that they are EXACTLY who they say they are? When are we going to listen and take them SERIOUSLY....

One of the many adverse possession cases that popped up in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 2011 could end with a DeSoto man getting lifetime accommodations in prison, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

David Cooper, 25, was among eight people indicted on burglary charges last March in Tarrant County. That charge carries only a maximum 20-year sentence, but there’s also a charge of first-degree felony theft of over $200,000 levied against Cooper.

The Star-Telegram reported last year about the damage done to the northeast Arlington house and possessions of Julie and Raymond Dell, the couple whose home Cooper tried to claim while Julie Dell was receiving cancer treatments in Houston.

The case was part of a rash of incidents where people paid less than $20 to file so-called adverse possession affidavits in efforts to claim outright ownership of unoccupied properties.

435 A big part of the problem is that most of the Right is as dependent on the State as people on the Left. The only difference is that we have an ideological opposition to it.

So, you may not be on welfare, but you probably eat the USDA diet and you go to your Dr. when you have a health problem. He tells you to eat the same, just less (and exercise more!), and take this or that pill for the symptom. And when you develop diabetes you go to the American Diabetes Association and they tell you to eat the USDA diet...and take insulin. And then you die for 15 years with the last 10 being in and out of a sick bed.

Or you send your kid to public school.

Or you assume they will come help you in a disaster.

Or you purchase bonds.

Or you put your money in banks and government regulated/created management systems assuming it will be safe.

436 @432, good. Let it burn. The Bamiyan Buddhas have been destroyed, and the Saudis actually wanted to destroy their Muslim sites, viewing it as idol worship. If the pyramids are destroyed, there will be no reason for decent people to send their money to Egypt anymore, where 90% of the women have undergone genital mutilation.

438 I'm already participating (kids go to private religious schools).

That's hardly going to break the state, with you paying for your children's education while your taxes are subsidizing a public school which your children will never set foot in, or ruin a desk, or wear out the carpeting of... and the thousands of expenses that just having people walking around a building entail.

The wife and I had former friends (one was a public school teacher) who started the discussion one night about how 'they' were subsidizing Catholic schools. I told them they had it 100% back assward -- that Catholic schools are subsiding public schools. They looked like I slapped them across the face when I got done my rant.

Which might be why they are now former friends. They had NO counter argument.

Yea, the pilot was encouraged to retire in lieu of a section 8. The brass wanted him to have his farewell flight, but no one wanted to sit in the copilot seat.

The wing commander took the seat, instead of falling on his sword and forcing a section 8 on the man. So the wing commander and six flight crew died along with this pilot.

America is spiritually sick and that leads to most all the other manifestations of why we lost this election. There's no more moral guardrails. And no free nation can survive without operating on a moral baseline.

(Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc's (WMT)
U.S. employees will pay between 8 and 36 percent more in premiums for
its medical coverage in 2013, prompting some of the 1.4 million workers
at the nation's largest private employer to say they will forego
coverage altogether.

In mailings sent to employees for its recently completed
open-enrollment period, Wal-Mart noted that its rates would increase
because healthcare costs continue to rise.

So he supports Barry and then sticks his employees with higher premium costs.

Some workers say the price hikes for next year have pushed them to drop coverage.

"I really can't even afford it now so for it to go up even a
dollar for me is a stretch," said Colby Harris, who said he makes $8.90
per hour and takes home less than $20,000 per year working in Walmart's
produce department in Lancaster, Texas.

The secondary motive is to increase calls for a single payer system so that Wal-Mart gets relieved entirely of the need to provide health insurance. The thinking is pretty much that Wal-Mart will be able to weather the change in the economy due to the necessary tax increase and, if anything, will find sales increased as people have less disposable income and will be looking for the cheapest prices possible.

It's been up and down from there, and supposedly last year they managed to break out of the 2007-2008 crisis ahead of the average rate like a slingshot. But, sadly, no.

They did not see Romney/Ryan as leaders on military issues the way they did McCain or even George W. Bush, who at least served and flew jets. The Colin Powell endorsement of Obama was aimed at these folks. I am betting that at least some smart people in the GOP hierarchy are thinking it's probably a bad idea in the furure to have a national ticket without a veteran on it.

David Petraeus was the obvious choice at least for VP in 2016, if not for President. And now that is destroyed.

It's also possible he was outed by operatives for Hillary or Joe Biden who saw him as possible competition for them in 2016 as well.
