I think Bill's talking apples and oranges. When he's talking millionaires I think he using wealth instead of income. Ace had posted this some days earlier that maybe we should have a wealth tax. Fairly Socialistic but it would bite Dems (and Repubs) in the ass.

I guess that interface is "top-secret", right?

Anyways, what I can't understand is why all the data from the individual polling locations had to go all the way back to Boston HQ? Why not first fo to the county HQ, than forwarded on the hour to the State HQ and then again to Boston. Why the heck does the central HQ need to know that fine grain of detail? What are they going to do with the fact that Mrs. Greene voted at Swansfield Elementary at 3:02??

I think by keeping the loops of information smaller, from poll-watcher to county HQ, keeps the chance of system failure much smaller and at the same time empowers the local volunteers to act on that info much faster and smarter.

93 You can give the illegals green cards without giving them citizenship. In my opinion, anyone who comes into this country illegally should be barred from citizenship forever. Just give (most of) them legal resident status.

If it were up to me, I'd bar them from the dole too, but our Enlightened Rulers would never allow that.

BTW, I am a first generation (legal) immigrant, long-since naturalized.

94 To relate to what is happening to the world now is still like Star Wars. If one is to assume that the forces is not passive force but controlled by something that is always trying to make things equal. The Jedi had sole control for 1000 years and then to balance it created a way to end it all. By the time the movies are over they have lost all the Jedi religion both good and evil. Well now we are on the path to that impasse. In time the goodness of conservativeness had its glory back at least 100 years ago and then from then the Sith has been going hard to destroy it. It has taken many forms of masters and appearances and in time they will destroy themselves the same way that Vader tossed Sidious and in turn himself.

The world will be fine as the most part people only care what they will eat tomorrow but this battle for Freedom over Tyranny has been going for a long time and will continue long after we are all gone.

"and have no concept of paying for everything themselves, especially health care."

Not true for the people in Mexico. You can't even leave the hospital until you've paid your bill.

I know lots of people from lots of Latinos that admire the Cuban system and wish they were under it. But I don't think they truly understand it. They have only listened to idiots that cherish socialism. But many have a lot of conservative values and have a lot more in common with American conservatives than people think. I don't think the GOP should pander to these people or compromise its values, but it is possible to find commonalities with new, legal immigrants.

The good thing is that Obama's voter coalition can't stand for long. Mexicans are some of the most racist people I've ever met, same with blacks. 150
The transformation of the United States is complete. But the credit does not go to Obama, but LBJ. We have been transformed into a selfish nation, not a caring nation.Perhaps this is notwhat President Johnson had in mind. The Great Society was supposed to be caring. But Johnson did not realize when you give a person their livelihood, but require no work, you take away their soul. Ah, unintended consequences.
Johnson did the yeoman's work in this effort, Obama merely lashed the wheel, so the rudder can never be turned. True, he used parlimentary trickery, but each decade since the sixties was in plain view. The magician needed no sleeves.
Before Clinton, congress generally believed Welfare could never be reformed. "The end of welfare as we know it" was merely a beaver dam trying to stop the Mississippi.
Obamacare is the final spar in the fence of entitlements Johnson started long ago. Now healthcare is a right. The U.S. federal governmentwill provide each citizen with healthcare. The U.S. federal government will also tell each citizen:
1) Who will give them care.
2) What care they can have.
3) When they can have it.
4) When the care will be performed.
5) How much the care will cost.
It seems to work okay in England and Canada. But we are unreasonable Yanks. We already complain loud and long whenour prescriptions co-pays are over $60. Those who advocated for Obamacare the loudest, willscream bloody murder atthe atrocities performed in its name. There will be violence. Will there be riots? God help us, I do not know.

Hobby Lobby is suing over Obamacare. I found that out after visiting them by mistake -- I was looking for a Michael's for framing and got lost.

Anyway, I really like it. I am not a "crafter" but it is vastly superior to Michael's, imho, and has useful things like decorating items, some furniture, pictures, custom framing, sewing and jewelry supplies. I plan to use them over Target for as many home decor things that I can.

They are wonderful about proactively helping you take advantage of their electronic coupons via your smartphone, so the times I've been things have wound up cheaper than I'd expected (b/c I had not looked into coupons before going).

161 Why should an entire state be "red" because of urban centers full of obama phone users and dead voters?

I'll say it again and will keep repeating it, the Rep governors need to lead reform for re-apportionment of their EC votes so that rural voters count. Would have made a difference in all the swing states this year.

Why did these initiatives get dropped?

I really loved living in Houston ('94-2000) but it does not have good weather, it's not particularly pretty, and I think it's getting over-run by illegals.

Utah is a bit like Texas. It's not a great in terms of vibrancy because it's more homogeneous up here and a bit insular, but it's absolutely gorgeous, has wonderful weather imho, and is very red except for Salt Lake City.

We lost this election and America about 50 years ago, when the leftists started the take over of the schools and universities. Several generations of America's children were taught to hate the country, its history, heritage and what it stands for. And when they came of age, they themselves became teachers as well as entertainment people, musicians, journalists, politicians and lawyers so that the "weltanschauung" they learned in school would be reinforced in the culture.

We can go nuts analyzing polls, demographics, messaging, party platforms, ORCA and fuck-all until we are blue in the face.

We lost America when we lost our cultural identity.

How or if we get that back is the unknown. And I fear that it is lost forever. The only thing left is Billy Ayers at the gates of the reeducation camp. If you think that is hyperbole, imagine yourself 10 years ago and thinking about the first 100 days of 2009.

You better a get a good one, because Obamacare gives
the federal government specific access to individual bank accounts and medical
records as provided by that individualís health plan. The government may
monitor an individualís finances and medical records electronically, for the
purposes of determining an individualís eligibility for certain programs under
the bill. They may also monitor an individualís finances and medical records to
ascertain whether that individual has health insurance and is making regular
premium payments to an approved health insurance plan; this will allow the
federal government to determine each individualís financial responsibilities
with respect to penalties and fees prior to or at the point of care as outlined
in the bill. This clause also gives the government the ability to transfer
funds electronically to or from an individualís bank account for the purposes
of debiting his/her account for fees and penalties.

265 If the Republican Party, and America, dies, it should have on its tombstone "inadequate future time orientation".

As soon as the Hart-Celler Act, the Immigration and Nationalization Act of 1965, was passed, America was committed to importing a new nation and thus destroying the old one. Ever since then, "conservatives" who haven't managed to conserve anything have been saying "we're not dead yet!" So what!? That's as useful as seeing water pouring into a holed ship, and saying "we haven't sunk yet!" and not plugging the hole.

With continuous mass immigration, and forced integration and assimilation, you are dead, and so is every other country that pursues that policy.

Every electoral cycle, the demographic playing field shifts a point or so to the left. The right just continues to focus on the liberal scandal of the week, and say "it's not too late for us to win this next election," ignoring the fact that even if you win it, ignoring that if nobody does anything about the real problem (and they have no intention of addressing the real, long term problem) the next election will be harder, and the one after that will be harder yet, till you could elect Robert Mugabe President - and then President-For-Life.

The wasted decades were bad news - inadequate future time orientation. The Reagan amnesty shows that he had no clue either on this issue. Bush and McCain were disasters.

And now the bills are coming due. This election should have been an easy, easy win. But the Lightworker won, because the left has imported a new nation that votes 80% anti-White and is pro-socialism, because that is its culture, and it also wants free stuff at Whitey's expense.

And still people come up with ideas like: give all the illegals a vote, but not for 25 years.

This is the vent thread, right? AAAAAUUUUGH!!! HOW CAN PEOPLE BE SO BLIND!

On Fox were a panel consisting of Bill Kristol, Evan Byah, Laura Ingraham and Kirsten Powers with Chris Wallace.
They were discussing the resignation of Petraeus with Powers saying that something is amiss in addition to saying that she didn't see why it was necessary for him to resign for an affair or if he did, why it had to be acknowledge that that was the reason. Her argument is that the woman had been deemed not have posed a security threat (actually, CIA agents and military men I listened to yesterday said the same thing, that CIA directors before him often had affairs.)
I offer that only to place the conversation in context, not because I wish to discuss her point of view.
What I wish to offer is THIS EXAMPLE OF HYPOCRITICAL SHIT on which NO ONE CALLED HIM OUT: Evan Bayh sat there listening patiently to Powers and when he had his turn he puffed out his chest and spoke of what he knew about vetting people and then he said "You know, if it were the Secretary of Agriculture or something like that, well, then, an affair would notof the same importance" but that "the CIA Director is in a sensitive position and subject to blackmail" and "that's why he should have resigned."
Oh, is that friggin' right, Mr. Bayh? Seems I recall another person in a "sensitive position, " another person, who like Director Petraeus "knew secrets crucial to our national security" and I recall YOU SUPPORTED HIM AND DIDN'T ASK FOR HIS RESIGNATION.
Further, after his videod testimony you voted "NO" to charges of obstruction of justice and "NO" to charges of PERJURY!
Yet not one member of that damn panel who disagreed with him had the courage to say, "But you voted to keep Bill Clinton in office and you never asked for his resignation when he did the same thing as Petraeus."
I hate them.

Posted by: gm at November 11, 2012 09:49 PM (wgmUB)

270 Personally, I think Petraeus' affair went public after the election because that's the leverage the Obama White House used against him to get his support for their Benghazi cover story. Before the cover story unraveled, Petraeus spoke to various key members of Congress, telling them that yes, it was a spontaneous demonstration fueled by anger over a 14 minute YouTube video, further obfuscating events and motivations and generating enough smoke to confuse the public as to Obama's culpability in the deaths of the ambassador and the others, stifling the impact of the Benghazi story on the public. Once Obama won reelection, Petraeus could be safely discarded.

Because of Petraeus' popularity with the public, the President always viewed him as a political threat, anyway. Petraeus has been effectively neutralized, just as Jack Ryan was neutralized several years ago, when he was viewed as the biggest threat to Obama's run for the US Senate seat. In that instance, parties unknown released Jack and Jeri Ryan's sealed divorce records. Those sealed records indicated that Jack Ryan tried to talk his beautiful TV star wife into threesomes and the like.

Mitt Romney's big mistake was thinking he was dealing with conventional, traditional Democrats. The look of utter surprise on his face when President Obama outright lied regarding his comments about 'terrorist acts' during the foreign policy debate was the tell, immediately followed by a save for the President from the debate moderator.

The fix is in, guys. I wrote it a dozen times prior to election day: the American far-Left spent decades acquiring control of the federal government. They are not going to give up that power as the result of a free and fair election, ever. They have control of the media (although the MSM no doubt views itself as a 'partner'), they will soon have an influx of millions of newly minted voters, formerly known as illegal aliens, and they're willing to destroy individual lives and reputations, break the law and circumvent the Constitution.

The 1st and 2nd Amendments will not survive the next four years intact, guaranteed. And four years from now? I don't care who wins the Democratic nomination or who we run against him (or her). The fix will be in then, too.

Posted by: troyriser at November 11, 2012 10:48 PM (ptcFO)

271 You know what? I really wanted Romney to win, but I'm now saying that America got it right. Yes, Romney is a better person etc. but everyone now knew who Obama was regardless of his lies. I think that's a big point of this. Everyone knew Obama was lying or they didn't care that he was lying. Either way, at the end of the day, I still did not know where Romney stood on conservatism. Where did he stand?

406K votes lost Romney the election. 6 million fewer votes for Obama. 2014 looking like the economy will fall off the cliff. Obama will own this economy whether he likes it or not.

I do think that the GOP needs to expand the base. But not at the expense of the current base. I think 2016 is the GOP's to lose. Why? Because this was their turn to have a 2004 loss like the Dems had. A truly hated President that won a second term. GOP needs to get more control of the messaging.

Even if the economy spirals into another Great Depression, the MSM will ensure (a) that no one is aware of the awful state of the economy; and (b) that even if the economy is in terrible shape, it isn't the fault of the President or his policies. The GOP House in Congress is a convenient scapegoat for all failures.

Right.

1. Never said the GOP was winning. This was a loss. But the Dems lost in 2004 as well. It was the biggest deficit increase ever. Now Obama has the biggest deficit increase ever.

2. I mentioned the messaging. Oh my goodness, does the GOP need better messaging. No one even bothers to explain conservatism anymore. Reagan certainly did. He used to tell people point blank that liberals were wrong and why. Bush even accused Gore and Kerry of being liberals. I haven't heard what conservatism or liberalism is from Republicans in ages.

274 I haven't heard what conservatism or liberalism is from Republicans in ages.
Posted by: MrX at November 11, 2012 11:10 PM (PxmNZ)

Because we don't have Republican leadership worthy of the name. Romney didn't call out Obama as a socialist weasel because he, Romney, wanted to attract the middle, which he felt would be alienated by an overt ideological attack. Romney also considers himself a gentleman, a guy who plays by the rules and keeps it clean.

Republican elected officials at the national level are genuinely afraid: they're afraid they're going to blamed for whatever economic catastrophe is coming at us (and they're right); they're afraid the GOP will be labeled as somehow fringy and extremist by the MSM if they attack the extremists in the Democratic Party (and they're right); they're afraid, they're afraid, they're afraid. Not one of them has the stones to confront the President or his policies.

275 <<I've watched and like Deep Space Nine, but I don't see it as the best. I
always assumed the Ferangi were the Hollywood version of Capitalists,
and the series was preaching Hollywood values at me.>>

...and
here comes my rant/rebuttal to Babylon 5 fans and others who may not
recognize DS9 for its greatness (Firefly notwithstanding, that show
never got the chance to get off the ground) SPOILERS ABOUND!

Part
of what made Star Trek: Deep Space 9 the best Sci-fi television series
ever aired was the fact that there were no two-dimensional characters.
Yes, the Ferengi were a profit-driven species that made 1950's white
males look like liberated feminists. And yet, the series (and its
writers, etc.) chose to recognize some aspects of the Ferengi species
that were beneficial. For instance; the episode in which Nog (First
Ferengi in Starfleet) uses his expertise in profit motive to acquire
much needed resources for Chief O'Brien. Other episodes where Quark is
chosen to accompany expeditions into the Gamma Quadrant in order to
establish economic relations with worlds there; this was done as a
deliberate matter of choice by the Federation. Yes, the Ferengi undergo
social change, like all species and societies, but those changes are
seen as good one (such as allowing females to wear clothing and make
profit). There are other episodes that show Starfleet personnel
recognizing the benefits of a profit motive.
And that's just a tiny
part of a series that contained not one, but two major wars; the second
one bringing the Federation to the brink of destruction and almost
obliterated the Cardassian Empire. An actual, honest-to-goodness
courtship and marriage between two major characters (and why Terry
Farrell decided going to "Becker" was a good career move I will never
understand) that lasted, if only for a season. A struggle for power;
leadership of multiple planets amidst a massive interstellar war (we saw
governments change on Cardassia, Bajor and the Klingon Empire). The
shifting balance of the Dominion War; at one point, the Dominion
conquered and occupied DS9 for half a season's worth of episodes, while
Sisko and the others were exiled to Starbase 23...and then the all-out
win-at-all-costs battle to retake DS9; still the best space battle I've
seen in any format. A storyline in which a Starfleet officer comes to
discover he is the child of gods, and has a sacrificial role to play in
history (if you don't think Sisko actually died, consider two things:
the finality with which Sisko's 'mother' says "You're with us now" and
the story in the Old Testament in which Elijah is taken to heaven via
fiery chariot (connection: prophets). Sisko's obsession with hunting
down Eddington; to the point that he was willing to (and did) destroy
two Maquis planets in order to bring him to justice. Worf's extended
imprisonment in a Dominion asteroid penal colony...and how Dr. Bashir
came to be imprisoned there... these are just a few elements from DS9
that I have seen nowhere else in any other television show. Then there
are the standout episodes:

Bada-Bing - In which the cast takes time out from the Dominion War to rob a Casino in early 1960's Las Vegas.

Trials
and Tribble-ations - in which the cast travels back in time - to and
interacts with - the Original Star Trek cast. O'Brien looking Kirk in
the face and lying to him is priceless.

Rocks and Shoals - Sisko
and several others are stranded on a planet with a platoon of Jem Hadar,
and their refusal to do anything other than fight, even when they know
their leader had betrayed them.

In the Pale Moonlight - What one
Starfleet Captain was willing to do, and compromise, in order to bring
the Romulans into the Dominion War under false pretenses.

The
Visitor - Quite possibly the best episode of anything ever broadcast on
television; with a very original sci-fi plot. If you are not choked up
(emotionally) by the episode's twist ending, you have no feeling.

And then there is the greatest list of supporting characters of any TV show ever:

Garek
(My favorite) - A simple tailor with a secret; he's one of the most
powerful operatives of Cardassia's Obsidian Order...he also has Daddy
issues.

Nog - Quark's nephew and the first Ferengi in Starfleet.

Rom - Nog's father, engineering genius, and surprise heir to the Ferenginar throne.

Martok - Klingon general who becomes Worf's adopted father.

Ki
Wyn - Cunning, vicious, and all with a smile on her face. Religious
leader of Bajor who desires power above all else. Has a bit of a crisis
of faith late in the series.

The Founder - cold, ruthless, leader
of the Dominion. The moment when she tells Garek that his people will
all eventually be dead is deliciously chilling.

Leeta - Rom's wife. I put her here because she's smokin' hot.

and finally...

Dukot
- His story arc rivaled Sisko's. Ruthless former dictator of DS9 (Terok
Nor), high-ranking officer in the Cardassian Military, exiled warrior
who fought a guerrilla campaign against the Klingons, then rose to
become leader of the Cardassian Empire when he betrayed his people.
Exiled again when he failed to hold on to DS9 six months after he
captured it. Descended into madness and became a cult leader and finally
conned his way into Ki Wynn's bed. Stood poised to destroy Bajor and
the Alpha quadrant opun his final face-off with Sisko.

That's my 2 cents.

PS, everyone always likes to argue "Kirk vs. Picard". But both of them are useless pussies next to Benjamin Sisko.
