59 There should be a blog dedicated to the unbelievable Tampa Bay Bucs cheerleading squad. Dedicated even moreso than this one, I mean.

In other news, if you get the Science Channel (which I didn't know existed until this morning), and if you're not watching NFL games because your
team is on a bye week (mine is the Browns, so it's tough to tell the difference), there's a Firefly marathon on right now.

The Left believes everything is political and in utopian ideas which fail 99.999999999999% of the time if implemented over enough time. Going "off the grid" isn't going to teach anyone basic economics or math. It's not going to write a letter to the editor or make a smart comment which debunks some lefty idiot writer.

Darrell Royal died last week. He was honored in several moving ways Saturday at the Iowa State game. Best best one was that the Horns lined up in the Wishbone T for their first play on offense...on their own 6 yard line no less. Tricky play (double pass) went for 47 yards and the crowd ROARED.

Beating Iowa State handily was a great memorial for Royal as well.

114 The Last Voice Of WWI Has Fallen Silent This Veterans Day
http://politicalhat.com/?p=544

This past year, the last surviving veteran of the 1st World War passed away at the age of 110. She was Florence Green, a British citizen who served in the Women's Royal Air Force as an officers' mess steward.

For the first time since the guns stopped on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918, the voices from that most horrible war are now silent.

Though begun as “Armistice Day,” Veterans Day has expanded in the United States as a day for all those brave men and women who fight to keep us free. Poppies have become the traditional symbol of remembrance for that war. John McCrae's poem is still moving and appropriate:

"In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

"We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

"Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields."

Though none are left from that war, let us never forget them.

"They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something”

On Friday about 3,000 people in Chicago lined up at a municipal jobs fair for 55 posted job openings.

... some of them waiting in line for up to six hours – hoping to apply for work with the city, but many left frustrated after learning the only way to apply for a job was to go online.

WBBM Newsradio’s Bernie Tafoya reports Mayor Rahm Emanuel stopped by the job fair, expecting a warm welcome from job seekers, but instead ran into lots of ticked-off people.

Rodney Booker said, “I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something.

George Takei on Facebook has posted a picture of three soldiers of the Old Guard standing guard over the Tomb of the Unknown and saluted the Americans in internment camps who volunteered to defend the United States in World War II - the 442nd Regimental Combat Team to be exact.

Many of the comments show how this country has been lost to the moochers. People wondering why the Old Guard is in the rain since the monument isn't going anywhere. Or how about US soldiers have never defended freedom since the Revolution.

Truman - me too. Thank you for all of your hard work. Perhaps when some time has gone by we can get your insider perspective on what the heck happened

190 AANNYHOO...

Getting back on the Football Topic!

Is there, in fact, a football game between da Bears! & the Texans scheduled at some point today?

191 #105 - I agree there was fraud but also believe that is shouldn't have been close enough to matter. Seeing articles that the GOP (and most of us) after 2010 expected D+2 or 3 at worst which meant R win when it turned out to be D+6 which even Dave in FL's model said O win. Question is why D+6 instead of D+3?
This is a football thread so I don't want to hijack it with election stuff but that is where it is

@156 - What's the thought on MRE's (meals ready to eat). Are they worth the investment or do they suck?
MREs are good nutrition, and they last 5 years or more, but they are expensive. And, they make "bland" an understatement. For the short term, you would probably do better buying staples and canned goods from the local grocery stores.

Congrats to the Aggies.
Hope things work out where they play UT in the Cotton Bowl.

195 I eagerly await your posting the pictures of the Aggie Yell Leaders, as part of your continuing series of cheerleaders. Make sure to use a picture showing the squeeze.
