Why Is Petraeus Not Testifying?

I don't care if he had an affair or not-- you don't get a pass from answering critical questions on a major debacle simply because you also might have done something else wrong in your personal life.

What the hell is this crap? Who cares if he had an affair? What does that have to do with Benghazi?

I don't know he should necessarily resign over this -- apart from the security breach (which seems minor, if the FBI already says it's not expecting charges).

But I sure the hell know he doesn't get a Get Out of Testifying Free Card.

Testifying before Congress isn't up to your own discretion, when it's convenient for you.

If he now says he doesn't want to testify, tough shit, subpoena him.

34 Paula Broadwell ( Kranz)

Passion. Intensity. Vision.

Three simple nouns that can only partially describe the complexity of Paula Kranz, 1991 CHS graduate. In high school, Paula excelled in the classroom and beyond, fulfilling a variety of leadership roles from homecoming queen to CHS and state student council president, from all-state basketball player to orchestra concert mistress, from AAU-Mars Milky Way All-American to valedictorian.

This passion directed toward excellence and a well-rounded education served Paula well as she advanced to West Point where she earned Dean's List status and the honor of Class Secretary, all while graduating number one physically in her class.

93 Look, Dave Petrraeus is a company man through and through. He'll put the organization ahead of himself every time. He screwed up on his own time, but he'll bow out in a way that doesn't rock the boat. Not because he likes Obama or dislikes Obama, but because he cares about the boat above all else.

Company men see the organization (military, CIA, defense department) as the Cause, and act accordingly. That's not to say he's a bad man or a poor patriot, but he's corporate-military to the bone. That's where his loyalty and heart lies. If you think he looks at Benghazi as anything more than just another op that went bad, then you don't get how he's wired.

His only motivation at this point is to get out of the limelight before his indiscretion brings discredit upon the highest echelons of the national security apparatus. A sentiment that is both charmingly noble and sadly naive, but his sentiment nonetheless.

97 "93 Look, Dave Petrraeus is a company man through and through.

3) Why was Petraeus not confronted immediately once the FBI and/or Obama learned about this security risk?

103 It is NOT blackmail.

In the law they call this "impeaching the witness". You try and discredit the witness in some way in order to undermine their credibility.

Hubby found messages on her computer and reported it. FBI looked through his emails and confirmed affair. She tells hubby she broke it off and he is still emailing her.

Admin knows all this and sits on it. Then Benghazi happens. Patraeus starts leaking to the press, but only Fox goes with it.

They do not want to draw attention to Benghazi before the election. They sit on it until after the election.

Then they demand his resignation, tell him what to write. They get rid of him, he won't testify. Even if he testifies or tries to leak to the press, the administration strikes first.

They leak to Slate and NBC (both VERY friendly to the administration) details of the affair and emails in an attempt to make him sound like an unstable nutter. He is no good as a witness now. Now he is a liar with terrible judgement, and no one will believe him.

It is not blackmail, they are impeaching the witness. Doing a nice job too.

posted this on the earlier thread. It almost doesn't matter now if he testifies or leaks, he is a nutter. Who is saying there were "thousands" of e-mails to make him look buts, why administration sources.

They are impeaching the witness.

126 No one will call the Obama Admin on this. Obama is cleaning house. He's also busting like 7 Navy Seals for leaking stuff. #Irony

Issa and all of Repub Leaders did jack squat about Fast Furious. They will end up doing the same with Benghazi. If they ask. They are racist. If they demand. Obama and MSM will laugh and then say you are racist.

Yes MSM is protecting Obama. Even so; GOP Leaders should be making a stand. They are too chicken shit or don't care. Or maybe on the same side.

They won't do jack about the election either. No one will investigate the makers of the voting machines, or the software they use. No one will do anything about Philly, where they kick out GOP watchers and bam like 140% of voters just happened to vote 99.9% for Obama in those areas.

No one has demanded answers on Brietbart. Isn't it always convenient with Obama how people in his business just happen to die. The gay guys from Obama's church. I think 3, all died a few months apart. Person that was going to testify on the Social Security break-in. Killed. Hell sure was nice for O's grandma to die when she did. Dead people can't talk. Brietbart's guy doing his autopsy report dies from poisoning same day report comes out.

Trying not to be some crazy whacko but so much shit is just so convenient for Obama. What if someone that knew about the voting machines being fixed. They knew how it all worked. They contacted Brietbart.

None of it matters though. Cause no one is doing shit about any of it. What about the birth certificate. What if the stuff about it being forged is true? Sure seems like good proof it was fake. They couldn't alter old newspaper records with fake info? What about his different social security numbers. What about his passport and trip to Pakistan?

We don't know shit. MSM is protecting him while the GOP Leadership does nothing. Just seems like we are being manipulated big time by someone. Who? I have no clue.

If you say anything. You are racists. If you want to cut spending you are some radical. You are so far to the right they have no problem calling you an extremist or terrorist. If you ask about all the money coming from foreign donors and being laundered; you are a racist. If you don't think you are racist; you really are but just haven't realized it yet.

Oh but if a real terrorist shoots crap load of people on an Army base or blow the shit out of our people in Libya. Well that is not terrorism. Some video's fault. Batshit Crazy

That was good when you did that.

There's actual written law that says he can be made to testify, and that he could get in some very deep rest-of-his-life-in-the-hoosegow trouble if he bullshits or fucks around too much when he does.

But the Real Law is that no company man is subject to the law. He may be subject to ignominy, or various forms of partial or temporary exile—even retirement. What he trades to get his freedom from the law, to be subject only to Real Law, is...

Right. Dude ain't sayin' shit.

Anyways, Bolton was on Fox earlier claiming Petraeus can be compelled to testify but I wasn't listening closely so I didn't catch his argument.

If it the House GOP actually has to do something (e.g. issue a subpoena) to make Petraeus testify, however, it looks like he won't be testifying.

175 Perhaps Petraeus chose not to simply 'retire' because he was aware of the FBI investigation involving Broadgate.
Given the BenghaziGate investigation,Petraeus publicly spilled the beans about that affair to head off any member of this administration (actually bearing guilt in the BenGhaziGate investigation) fromtaking advantage and manipulating any testimonyPetraeus would be compelled to provide through a Congressional subpoena.

The time is right now to make sure voter fraud never happens again. All the republican govenors with an assembly that they can work with need to pass some reforms to make sure the shit that happened in Philly and Cleveland etc etc. doesn't happen two years from now in republican controlled states.....

The republicans ( including myself) bitch and moan about this every election cycle and yet nothing is ever done about it. Time to do something about it in the states in which the republicans control things. Do it now, so it's not a problem two years from now.

Stat. Motherf*ckers.

Oh, and does anyone know some good ideas for reform? Perhaps a new reform thread could appear someday here on the Ace of Spades blog?

Actually, this result does not surprise me. There was an article in a Utah paper a few months back, interviewing black Mormons and asking them how they were planning to vote. Most of the black Mormons in the article were planning to vote for Obama; race (or party if they were dems) trumped religion. Dems like to pretend Mormons are 100% white but that is just not the case, at least not outside of Utah. Ever been to a Vegas ward? The ward Romney would have been in had he become president was mostly black and latino.

232 Still, the White House, with concurrence by the FBI and Justice Department, held off on asking for Petraeus’ resignation until after the election. His resignation occurred three days after the election, avoiding the possibility that Obama’s ill-fated appointment of Petraeus could become an issue in the election.

FBI agents on the case were aware that such a decision had been made to hold off on forcing him out until after the election and were outraged.

“The decision was made to delay the resignation apparently to avoid potential embarrassment to the president before the election,” an FBI source says. “To leave him in such a sensitive position where he was vulnerable to potential blackmail for months compromised our security and is inexcusable.”

Michael Kortan, the FBI’s assistant director for public affairs, said he had no comment.

But anyone who has paid attention to politics for any length of time should know that nothing will come of it if he does.

What is it we're hoping he'd say that isn't already known? That Stevens requested more security but was denied by State? That Obama knew from the start that the attack wasn't over the stupid video? That there was terrorist activity in the area?

About the only thing left that matters is who gave the order to stand down, and nobody will link that directly to Obama.

At best an underling will get thrown under the bus and Obama will cite "conflicting reports".

We deserve to know the truth, but the testimony of Petraeus won't change the fact that we won't get the full story.

246 The Book of Habbakuk

Habbakuk's first question.

"Why , Lord do you make me see wrong doing and look at trouble? Destruction and trouble are before me....the wicked surround the righteous.".....

"I will stand at my watchpost and station myself on the rampart. I will keep watch to see what he willl say to me concerning my complaint.

Then the Lord answered me and said:

"Write the vision. make it plain on tablets so that a runner may read it. For there is still a vision for the appointed time, it speaks of the end and does not lie. If it seems to tarry wait for it it will surly come, It will not delay "....

"Though the fig tree does not blossom, and no fruit is one the vines, though the produce of the olive fails, and the fields yield no food,; though the flock is cut off from the fold and there is no herd in the stall, yet i will rejoice in the Lord; I will exault, he in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord is my strength. He makes my feet like the foot of a deer, and makes me tread upon the heights."

My opinion? For one, we should stop worrying about what the left is going to say about us. They lead us around by the nose, and some are too blind to see it. For example, they invent the word "birther" to ridicule anyone who questions obama's background. So naturally, we have to play along, dancing to their tune, because they've set the narrative that anyone who questions anything about dear leader is unhinged. It's really pretty smart of them. They take anything that scares them off the table very effectively. Let's face it, pursuing a strategy of winning hearts and minds of the left is no more effective than us using the same strategy with the islamic savages.

In 74 the Watergate hearings were live on all the networks - you couldn't escape them. And the media wanted Nixon gone. The public was dutifully outraged and we know what happened.

(Groups like the Taliban will Make A Point by stoning the occasional male fornicator - usually when it's a Christian raising an eyebrow at a Muslima.)

But I actually thought that Islam did make a distinction between adultery versus fornication; like Christianity and the various European pagan / common laws make distinctions.

Can some Jews pitch in? What does rabbinic law say about adultery versus fornication?

On ulsterman the other day a poster came out to taunt ulsterman and the insider at their obvious consternation that the election numbers were completely off from the Romney campaign's internals, especially Florida. Obviously it's the Internet, and take all with a grain of salt, but the poster left that cryptic message hours after the election that...

"We stole it, we only needed 2.4 million, but we took 2.7 million...bye, bye!"

It was creepy and gave you chills!

All the republican govenors with an assembly that they can work with
need to pass some reforms to make sure the shit that happened in Philly

controlled states.....

The republicans ( including myself) bitch
and moan about this every election cycle and yet nothing is ever done
about it. Time to do something about it in the states in which the
republicans control things. Do it now, so it's not a problem two years

We're all hurting right now. Spare me.

I'm unburdened by the ritual of prayer and my thoughts are better directed toward those that give a fuck about their fellow man and their country. Democrats, their appointees, and by association - their families, do not fall into that category.

405 Understand post is about Petraeus Not Testifying, so OT.

Spent a lot of time 24/7/365 defending nation.

Spent a lot of time watching this web site.

Watched Ace do twitter thing, sight to behold.

So, I can't get in touch w/ RNC personnel who called me at all times.

Do the R's run 24/7/365 or do they just run during normal hour except when they want the vote??

I don't do twitter. If anybody is connected to the R's please ask.
Thanks

I don’t know why this is such a big deal as Petraeus has been having a
long term affair with some chick named Sharia something or other, out
in the open, and nobody batted an eyelash.

His love affair with Islam…you know…winning the hearts and
minds….making sure troops don’t pee toward Mecca,…making sure Muslims
aren’t offended by our troops presence, making sure our troops lives and
limbs are subservient to every Muslim whim….the kind of destructive
affair where the ones you should be caring for get shafted.

insourcing.

Yeah, my MBA is so worthless that I've been in the top income tax bracket since I earned it a decade ago. Funny way of being worthless.
I'm the one whose taxes keep your worthless hide alive. I expect some fucking appreciation. Actually, I don't because experience has shown me that scum like you are lower than dogs. At least dogs don't bite the hands that feed them. It's OK, though, because the time is coming when the cost of paying the taxes to support society is no longer worth the benefits. Congress has subpoena'd the head of the CIA. As of today, that's not Petraeus.

If Congress wants Petraeus, it can go through the process for a subpoena to issue for Petraeus personally. That's the system, and that's ALWAYS BEEN the system, no matter who is the president.

You know this, Ace. So, you're lying to and misleading the morons.

Our best bet is for him to collapse the system whether intentionally

...and BINGO was his name-o. Experience is the best teacher. 50%+ of the nation are going to have to experience the consequences of their decisions. And Republicans/conservatives should just hang back and wait for the ones who wake up to seek us out. And there will be plenty when the time comes. In 2 years you won't be able to find one person who will admit to voting for Barry. Hell, in this election, Barry won PA and around here you couldn't find a yard sign in his favor. They may have voted for him, but they don't want you knowing that.
