| Embedded: Petraeus Was Screwing His Biographer; Claim Made She Was Trying to Access His EmailsOne way to get the inside story. The woman with whom Gen. David Petraeus was having an affair is Paula Broadwell, the author of a recent hagiographic book about him, All In: The Education of General David Petraeus. Petraeus resigned as CIA director on Friday, citing the affair.A tweet from "Breaking News" (no idea who this is) says: Breaking News @BreakingNews FBI investigating Petraeus biographer Paula Broadwell for improperly trying to access his email, officials tell @NBCNewsSo, is she hot? Ehhh... Got somethin'. Here she is, talking about her book about Petraeus, called, yes, All In. You know, if you watch that interview, she does actually sound like she's having sex with him. It's a very "we did this, we did that" sort of thing. She sounds like she's talking about her boyfriend. Corrected: I changed the email thing to a "claim," and dropped the claim that she was trying to get into his classified email. The claim doesn't even say that. However, given that he's head of the CIA, all of his email would be classified, it seems to me. More: Apparently she is suspected of attempting to access classified emails. Like I said, I assume all of his emails are classified. The biographer for resigning CIA Director David Petraeus is under FBI investigation for improperly trying to access his email and possibly gaining access to classified information, law enforcement officials told NBC News on Friday. But they say they do not expect the investigation to end in criminal charges. Huh? Comments1
Was he blackmailed?

Astonishing. If true, and if he's still subject to the UCMJ, he needs to get the max sentence possible. We (used to) throw people out just for being gay so when a 4 star general, who heads the CIA, does this, his head needs to hang on the wall. IF true.

The timing is a little odd, especially in light of the rumors that Secretary of Defense Leon Paneta is tired of flying at taxpayer expense every weekend to his California home and plans on resigning, and Hillary Clinton, the Secretary of State is resigning. My only question is which job John Kerry plans on filling since he’s been leaning towards all three jobs over the past four years. Posted by: Thunderb at November 09, 2012 05:55 PM (Dnbau) 18

Isn't it convenient that now he doesn't have to testify. Why not? He "screws" up and has an affair and the American people are deprived of his knowledge of what happened in a national tragedy and scandal? I'm sorry, that does not add up. Has he been discredited as a witness in this investigation because of the affair? Please, I need a better excuse than "I cheated on my wife so therefore I have nothing valuable to add about Ambassador Stevens' death." He was head of the CIA when Benghazi happened. Like five people end up in court who don't know each other but had the same third-grade teacher. I actually met her several months back. She lives in Charlotte -- has a kid I think. She seemed smart and nice. She was attractive in a professorial kind of way.
There were some things she said at her book signingthat in retrospect kind of give away that there might have been something going on. The way she described him, it was kind of like how someone describes a person they have a crush on. She was a little too proud of him. Eh, its hard to describe and I may be imagining it in retrospect. Wierdly (well at least in looking back at it now)her husband came to the book signing. I have a copy of the book signed by her. Maybe I should sell it on ebay. Posted by: nc at November 09, 2012 06:06 PM (Cxl7g) 120

The affair happened when Petraeus was in Afghanistan? She is married too. Or, at least she wasin Jan 2012, when thatvideo above was made. Since the story broke...I have been wondering: "When did the affair happen?" Because you can bet that Barky's spies knew about it. [Or even helped engineer it to happen.] And if it happened before he was made CIA Director...then it was 'baked in the cake', that they had something on him in order to control him. Obviously, the White House has done to Petraeus what they did with John Edwards. They goaded them into the honey trap and get their dirt which they use to keep him on a tight leash and yank if he gets out of line.
The best thing about "Obama's" re-election might just be that he and his handlers finally rip the mask off and people like the Medveds on the Right who've insisted Obama's legitimate and well-meaning have to once and for all admit just who we've been dealing with here. Obviously, the White House has done to Petraeus what they did with John

Sure, but in what way were the Illuminati, Freemasons, Bigfoot and the Area 51 aliens involved? Was there a three-way with Elvis? They "goaded" him? What did they do? Slip him a handful of boner pills and lock them in a closet together? Relentlessly tease him with taunts of "Dude, you're a total fag if you don't hit that shit"? Email is classified high side, low side and unclassified, pertaining to Top Secret, then Secret (SIPRnet) and regular non classified but potentially sensitive (like NIPRnet). The primary difference being, these all exist on entirely separate networks and on physically different computers in order to keep everything separate and compartmentalized.
If she had/was given physical access to his classified platforms (so to speak), and was trying to break into his email from there, then he was criminally negligent and she's an reckless idiot. For everybody thinking Petraeus will now spill the beans about the Obama Benghazi coverup:
This is a guy who had an cheap affair while he was fighting a desperate war, and then when his girlfriend dumped him he obsessively pursued her like a fifteen-year-old. I'd say the odds of him exposing anything are zero. The CIA timeline he released was total ass-covering, and now that he's resigned in disgrace he has to salvage something. My bet is he says the CIA and Obama did everything they could, and Obama showed incredible support, courage, and coolness. I learned this the hard way in my fifty years: Almost everybody has a price. Almost everybody will sell out for money, fame, power, access, adulation, praise, sex, or a combination of all of the above. I'm not putting my hopes in Petraeus. I predict Issa will pursue Benghazigate for a while, and then it'll go away. The good news (which is actually bad news) is that Obama is so drunk with power now and so arrogant he's going to make some catastrophic error that not even the media will be able to protect him from. What's most likely is that he'll pursue through executive orders the most draconian, punitive regulatory agenda in the western world. That'll wake people up. It is NOT blackmail.
In the law they call this "impeaching the witness". You try and discredit the witness in some way in order to undermine their credibility. Hubby found messages on her computer and reported it. FBI looked through his emails and confirmed affair. She tells hubby she broke it off and he is still emailing her. Admin knows all this and sits on it. Then Benghazi happens. Patraeus starts leaking to the press, but only Fox goes with it. They do not want to draw attention to Benghazi before the election. They sit on it until after the election. Then they demand his resignation, tell him what to write. They get rid of him, he won't testify. Even if he testifies or tries to leak to the press, the administration strikes first. They leak to Slate and NBC (both VERY friendly to the administration) details of the affair and emails in an attempt to make him sound like an unstable nutter. He is no good as a witness now. Now he is a liar with terrible judgement, and no one will believe him. It is not blackmail, they are impeaching the witness. Doing a nice job too. I'm not going to say one thing about the woman with whom he was
sleeping. How fucking stupid do you have to be as the Director of the CIA to have an affair? Did he answer yes to the are you cheating on your spouse question for his security clearance? In 1992 I applied for a job at the CIA. It was pretty exciting. They told me it would be a two-stage process. The first stage was attending a fake conference at a hotel in San Francisco. They had a sign outside the room identifying it as the meeting place for a nonexistent corporation. Very cloak-and-dagger. The guy who did the briefing looked and sounded exactly like Tim Reid of the TV show WKRP in Cincinnati. My girlfriend applied, too. We were both multilingual, had lived overseas most of our lives, and were knowledgeable about military history and geopolitics. What made it all real was that there was a big board at the front of the room that showed the four directorates of the CIA: Intelligence, Support, Science and Technology, and Operations (now known as Clandestine Services). Three of the directorates had full descriptions of their duties, but Operations was blank. "You don't get to learn about Operations until after you're a part of the Company," Tim Reid said. We made it through the first interview but voluntarily screened ourselves out because the CIA doesn't take recovering alcoholics. Before we learned this, they told us that the next step would be to fly us to Langley to give us a two-day lie-detector examination. That was just for twerpy applicants like me, but it was 1992. Though you'd think they'd have a better screening process for the head of the CIA, it could be more evidence of how corrupt and rotten all our institutions have become. It's no longer 1992, is it? We've been worse off before, so I have no doubt we'll improve. But we're in for some very rough times, I think. Posted by: Llarry at November 09, 2012 06:49 PM (JgHoa) 384

Since his affair was with a woman, I guess Petraeus is a liberal after all.

Hey, this is important stuff. Why would you want to investigate that libya or mexico stuff, this is the stuff of which good reality tv is made. And forget about the election or any improprieties like people not getting to vote, like those military folks. Nope, this is what really matters. Is she going to appear on the SI Swimsuit Edition cover? No. Is she hot enough to tempt a 60-year-old career military guy who's been on deployment to various assholes of the world for 30+ years? Oh yeah.
Especially if she's a freak. Just sayin'. The WH had to know about this pre-election and sat on it until The Won was safely heading for a second coronation. It's just amazing that it's only taken 14 years to go from "it's no big deal, it's just about sex" to "HOLY SHIT SECURITY RISK BURN HIM AT THE STAKE!!111!" Hypocrisy, thy name is liberals. And the media. BIRM. Posted by: Moose4 at November 09, 2012 07:31 PM (W15Fy) 402
157 Ace, so maybe that's why he pulled the ejection handle now and came out with full disclosure? So they wouldn't be able to hold it over him? Maybe he figured that public disgrace was better than whatever Obama had in store...it's not like he's going to be hurting for retirement even now.

Who knows what to believe with our Fifth Colu...er, Fourth Estate. I mean, shit, I may have been giving him way too much credit thinking he had or would do the right thing...may just be an OCD stalker.
So, we know the President skipped his Daily Intel Briefings. Consistently. Petraeus was off stalking his biographer. Hillary...I've never been able to figure that one out. Donilon...who knows. Valerie Jarrett is negotiating with the Iranians. Just who the fuck is running the foreign policy for this Administration? Is there one? "Where is all this "he sent thousands of e-mails persuing her, raising
more questions about his judgement" shit coming from? Who is leaking this information, and is it factual? This could be designed to further compromise Petraeus' credibility." Bingo. Like the Runaway Bride or that fucking looney tune Astronaut that wore diapers to shit and piss on herself to save time while driving cross country to get to the love of her life. I liked and respected Petraeus. Still do, I think. Hopefully, there's a bunch of patriots inside that will peel this rotten onion of an administration. This it totally bizarre, this entire week. Perhaps I will wake up soon and report this dream. It is fiction, right? Has Barky left for Asia, yet? I hope they keep him. -- Thanks, Rob. Oh man, there's like 3 more Petraus threads up. I want to find out what's up with O's sudden trip to Asia too. O wins and immediately heads out of the country? Ace: However, given that he's head of the CIA, all of his email would be classified, it seems to me.
More:Apparently she is suspected of attempting to access classified emails. Like I said, I assume all of his emails are classified. **** No. His e-mails are not all classified. There is the NIPRNET for unclassified e-mail. There is the SIPRNET for classified up to secret e-mail. There is JWICS for classified up to Top Secret and SCI. It is up to Petraeus to use the appropriate system depending on what he is e-mailing. Posted by: EFG at November 09, 2012 08:32 PM (C+qQ0) Posted by: Baldy at November 09, 2012 08:57 PM (b+m13) 414

oh, i forgot, RHIP. how many Soldiers did you UCMJ for this sort of thing while you were a CO, you sorry bastard? redeem yourself and testify in open public about what you knew and when you knew it, then go die alone and un-mourned you sad disgrace to the uniform you wore and all the people that looked up to you as a hero and the troops that looked to you as a role model. you are disgrace to the uniform, the offices you held and the country you were supposed to serve. it's expected that Pvt Snuffy will think with the wrong brain, but you? fuck you, you pathetic scumbag. the idiots in Code Pink have more honor than you've displayed here. they may be stupid and wrong, but you are just pathetic. when you die, they better not bury you in a military cemetery: that would be a disgrace to the honorable Soldiers you would sully with your presence. Well she's got the start of a nice rack; and she looks like the chrome on a trailer hitch ball might not be safe when she was around. So maybe she's only "meh hot", but she was (a) there, and (b) not in the chain of command. That gave her "a leg up" and maybe a "leg over" the other American females in Camelstan.

For a military-security oriented blogger, Ace sure is sloppy with his constant OTT and defamatory mistakes he's always having to correct.
Look, Ace: if this was not your blog -- or Malkin's blog or a Koch blog or whoever's dick you service to keep this gig -- and had a reason to do security sweeps, and your sweeper crew found all sorts of 'requests' coming into one of your email portals for access to dump a 'personal' message, yeah, if I'm with your sweeper crew, I'm asking you all about that, and if I don't like your answer cuz it doesn't fit some of the Inside Baseball in your message exchanges, I'm absolutely going Sherlock on your ass. Add to that that as a government sweepster I am MAN DATED to write a report that gets to the Inspector General. That, Ace, is post-Church Commission CIA 101, and you, Ace, either know that and are a lying POS about the way this all works, or DON'T know that and are lying POS that you know anything at all about security procedures. That is all, buck private Ace: step out of line and drop and give us all 10,000 situps before we drag you to the stockade for repeated serial confibulation. If she says it's all a lie then she will be charged. Anyone who thinks Petraeus isn't an inside man is naive. You don't get his kind of jobs without being politically reliable. He threw her under the bus to protect the agenda. His pride wouldn't let him throw himself under the bus. Petraeus will be punished the same way Poindexter was.

Occams Razor-
dont give the Chicago scumbags any more credit for competence that they dont deserve, by wasting time with conspiracy theories- we know why he did it- and we've all done it- "thinking with the little head" his reputation for brilliance is lost, if reports about how everyone at CIA knew about it, if he thought he could get away with it. the shame of it is he wont testify about Benghazi - and if so, the dishonor is in leaving the truth behind, and if that dishonors the fallen, then thats truly despicable. but I am sure theres more to this story yet to unfold... Here's a couple of interesting questions:
Isn't she a married mother of two? What did her husband know and how much? Was he even aware she was blowing Petraeus? Isn't it ironic that she was cheating on her husband with Petraeus knowing full well Petraeus was a married man? How dare she Petraeus of cheating on her when she's only his mistress lol?
