The math is against it. The government is spending well beyond its means, looking to spend more, and confiscate what little capital working citizens have left. The economy can't get better when employers are being strangled by regulation, investors left with less capital to invest in employers, and the lucky few whom are employed have less to spend to keep the consumer cycle going.
Way too much money has to go to paying for debt on old things, so there is no money for new things. Meanwhile the government continues to rack up the debt with abandon.

Debt is slavery and those are two things Democrats excel at.

Careful, the more overt they are about it, the quicker the Dems pass legislation protecting political affiliation equal to gender, race, sexual orientation, etc. After that, they'll require you hire Dems too, not just prevent you from firing them.
I'm all for letting progs go all other things being equal, but let's be smart about it. And by "all things being equal" I include job performance. Conservatives believe in earning through merit, so let's try to keep some of our principles in place.
But right now, I think a lot of us are venting and we rightly have a lot of stuff to get out of our systems. It'll be interesting to see our attitudes in about a month.

But, yeah, that's my concern as well. Not much can be done about it. If the economy gets better, even marginally, Obama will get credit.

They are teachers and are so THRILLED that now the poor little dears in their classroom will have a better education now.

My DH owns a small business. He employees five people. He provides 3 sick days, 2 weeks vacation, Simple IRA w/Employer match and 100% employer paid health insurance. Health insurance premiums for this year $2,650/mo or $31,800/yr. On Oct. 25th he received renewal for insurance and premiums were going to $3,299/mo or $39,588/yr. Decided to discuss with employees possibility of scaling back of benefits and/or employees pick up part of the cost.
Spokesperson for the group said that what we were going to do is BS. His BIL works for the city and he has so much better benefits and works less hours. Told employees we would let them know by the 15th what we will do.
Here's the rant, we take less and less money out of the business but try to keep employee benefits and income stable. First thought was we can't compete with the city in wages and benefits. Then become pissed off that my tax dollars are providing those city workers with better benefits and pay than we can provide our employees.
Unfortunately I think we're going to ask for 50% employee participation in absorbing cost of insurance. If not, we'll drop it. One employee put his notice in and we won't be filling that position for a while.

Then run down the list of economic. freedom, foreign policy, energy, trade and sovereignty policies issues that conservatives support....leaving out any social or religious issues.....and sit back in amazement while you listen to a die-hard liberal push the convservative line like Ronald Reagan.
The moral? The moral is Americans are very close to together on the overwhelming majority of the issues, and that if Obama was called a Republican and exposed for what he really stands for...He would have lost in a landslide, and probably not won in 2008.

My DH and I own a small business and for first few years did 100% health insurance. 5 years ago got too expensive, and started requiring staff to pay in. They all understood, even though we're in Chicago with a diverse staff. I think if we did it now, it might not be the same.
You need to do what's right for you and your business, it doesn't always mix with what might be right for that individual employee. If it's wrong for them, let them leave. You can't please everyone, you need to answer to the needs of the business.

Eh, apparently not so much. The american public stood up boldly on Tuesday and announced they could care less about 4 Americans slaughtered and a President who ignored their pleas for help and then lied about it after the fact.
Yup, they went into that booth and pulled the lever for corruption, recession, and completely out of control government spending and regulation. All in the name of free birth control and more handouts.
So here I am, a few days after the fact, watching the stock market plummet and knowing all too well what is coming next - and if that weren't bad enough I see the talking heads on TV all talking about the "future" of the Republican party - basically they need to become democrats as far as the "experts" are concerned.
I reject that notion, wholeheartedly. In my estimation? The problem here is in order to win these elections one of two things have to happen - either you have to get the base excited enough to come out in huge numbers in the key areas or you have to capture the folks that vote based on hearing one sound bite or reading one bumper sticker.
Sadly however I wonder if perhaps it isn't already too late. I hope our nation can survive another 4 years of this, but I must admit I have a feeling that by the end of Obama's term the takers will outnumber the producers to such a extent that election strategy will become a moot point. Elections will become about who can promise the electorate the most free government goodies.
I hope I'm wrong folks - truly. Sadly though I have the nagging feeling that I just might be right.
