Unexpectedly II: Media Now Telling Us Economy May Be Heading Into Second Dip of Endless Recession

This information is so valuable to me on November the 8th!

All the problems investors face—from a fiscal meltdown to the various economic woes around the world—add up to one daunting prospect: Another possible recession just over the horizon.

As the financial world puts Tuesday's presidential election behind it, the light in the tunnel could be an economic freight train.

Really?! And this information is just coming to light, huh?

Then what shall I make of this?: "Improving National Outlook Key To Obama Victory."

Our economic confidence was up, apparently because the media pushed the fake 7.8% unemployment rate story (and forgot to tell people when it went back up).

And now we're facing a recession -- and we just realize this now after the election is over.

Why, that's just so lucky for Obama.

How does he manage to luck into such astonishingly well-timed information from the press?

It's almost like it's not mere chance at all, but rather some kind of intent lurking behind it.

We're going to see more deflation before we get to inflation.

Two factors to watch: wages and credit. If they don't both rise significantly we will see deflation.

Hiring is going down, not up. Wages down, not up.

Credit has been moderating this summer. Do you see business going cap/ex now? I don't. Do you see a housing boom around the corner? I don't.

102 In all the post-election commentary, I haven't seen one person mention that the biggest gun in the Democratic arsenal failed to hit its mark: Mediscaring.

You know why?

Because Romney explained his plan and compared it directly to Obama's plan, side by side, using a whiteboard. After that, the oldsters were satisfied.

Romney never again used this technique. He allowed the Democrats to define him as a "vulture capitalist" who didn't care about the middle class and women.

If he had used whiteboards, pie charts, and graphs to illustrate how conservative ideology benefits these groups, and if he'd hung Obama's destructive policies around his neck using facts, and if he'd explained politlely but forcefully that the Democrats were lying to them, what might have happened?

Everyone was sure that Medicsacring would sink Romney-Ryan, but Mitt explained it simply and directly. He addressed it head on and defused it.

We'll need a lot more that in the future.

I'm sure some brinksmanship is involved here, and it's probably better if 0bama blinks first, but I'm willing to bet that the ensuing depression would make 1929 look like a walk in the park on a sunny day, with unicorns, skittles, watermelon ice tea, and Robitussin.

Rosenberg is not alone: Strategas earlier this week said it expects a recession early in 2013, and University of Maryland economist Peter Morici said that "the President and Congress will not be able to raise taxes — be those on the wealthiest of the wealthy or anyone else — and cut spending without risking a second recession, deeper and more painful than the Great Recession."

Even if the cliff gets fixed, that in itself will mean the economy will slow even further.

207 SOURCE: ALLEN WEST NOW LEADS INITIAL VOTE COUNT IN ONE FLA. COUNTY
Posted on November 8, 2012 at 3:52pm by Madeleine Morgenstern Print »Email »
Comments (133)
Rep. Allen West is leading by more than 300 votes in Palm Beach County, Fla., a hopeful sign for the Tea Party favorite fighting for his political life after Tuesday’s election, a source told TheBlaze.

No winner has been declared in the congressional race between the Republican West and his Democratic opponent Patrick Murphy, though Murphy had a 2,456-vote lead in the unofficial vote total.

But a Republican observer who has been monitoring the counting process said West pulled ahead in Palm Beach County on Thursday as the initial count continues. Ballot printing errors led to ballots that could not be fed through scanners in some areas, so Florida election workers have been forced to reproduce their contents onto new ballots that can be read properly, the observer said. As the votes are counted for the first time, West has taken a slim lead.

It’s a separate issue from what’s happening in St. Lucie County, where West has demanded a recount over “disturbing irregularities.” He filed a motion Wednesday to have paper ballots counted and to impound voting machines and all paper ballots cast, WFOR-TV reported.

The observer called St. Lucie County more Republican in makeup while Palm Beach County is a mix but overall Democratic.

“The fact that he is ahead, period, even in this county is a good sign,” the observer said.

286 what does a Silent Drill Team mean?
Posted by: willow at November 08, 2012 05:40 PM (hX8cq)

The United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon is a 24-man rifle platoon of the United States Marine Corps. Often referred to as The Marching Twenty-Four, the unit performs unique silent precision exhibition drill. The purpose of the platoon is to exemplify the discipline and professionalism of the Marine Corps.

The Marines execute a series of calculated drill movements and precise handling of their hand-polished 10.5 pounds (4.8 kg) M1 Garand rifles with fixed bayonets. The routine concludes with a unique rifle inspection involving elaborate rifle spins and tosses. All drill movements are done with superfluous spins of the rifle, making the Silent Drill Platoon's drill unique from other Marine units' drill movements.

291 I'm reposting this from a dead thread. Because FYNQ that's why...

They STOLE my vote:

I just got through reading an article on philly.com where certain areas
of the city went 99% for Obama. I suppose I could suspend my disbelief
in reality long enough to believe that a huge number of hardworking
people were able to fit a trip to the polls in between going to work,
picking up the kids, making breakfast, lunch, dinner, cleaning the
dishes, doing laundry, folding laundry, putting it away, putting gas in
the car, making beds, or the 100's of other daily tasks that take up a
normal day.

But no, I'm going to put my tin-foil hat on and
suppose, just suppose mind you, that the 99% number represents a
disenfranchisement on a ONE TO ONE BASIS of someone else in the
state. Who? Me, that's who.

But philly.com reports it with a straight face. Without one iota of disbelief.

295 This makes me smile a little bit with schadenfreud. They suppressed economic bad news to help Obama get elected. Now that Obama gets re-elected, the economic bad news (being the reality) leaks back out. Now you have the narrative that the economy was recovering right until Obama got his 2nd term, followed by a huge economic decline. Too bad the media will do their darndest to portray Obama as the Man for the Hour for Great Depression 2.0.

367 I was waiting to get some hard data before going all conspiracy on these election results but I found the results for my precinct and discovered a very curious, shall we say anomaly. The vote totals for President were Romney - 839 Obama - 2416. That sounds about right for my part of the county which is very solid red except for my corner. However in scrolling down I came across some races in which the only candidate was a Republican and in almost every single case they received 1800 (+/-) mostly plus. By this we are led to conclude that unopposed (R) running in the precinct received 1,000 more votes then Romney did? Of course now the argument can be made that even the Dems voted for them but the vote totals only vary by 20 votes one way or the other. The same is not true for the Dems that ran unopposed. In their case the vote total closely matches those cast for Obama. The unopposed (D)s got about 2600 votes. So either a lot of Dems voted for Republicans on the down ticket races and hardly none of the Republicans crossed lines and voted Dem or else there are a 1,000 votes for Romney just floating around in the ether somewhere. http://tinyurl.com/a5x5c49

376 I have had a day of errands, doctor appt, etc. A day refreshingly free of politics except Rush on the radio now and then.

I am going to do four things until 2014:
1) Pray daily for this country, and that we find candidates who are leaders. I will always believe that Romney and Ryan were the best two candidates for the time. This from a Palin supporter in 2008---I saw her speak. From a Perry fan until the primaries. I voted for Romney three times in Florida. There are no two finer men than the two candidates we had, and may they both still help us on this fiscal cliff we are now plunging off of. I am thankful for what they did for us.The fickle 3 million Republicans who stayed home due to a, gasp, Mormon, or a, gasp again, moderate, on the ticket...well, shame on you. Your vote could have made a difference. But that was Tuesday. I do not look backwards.

2) Today I choose joy and happiness, as that is my nature as an eternal optimist. Our ancestors faced much more trials than we have with losing an election and having a socialist buffoon as president. There have been other buffoon presidents, probably not so bad, but some come to mind. No, they were not socialists, but some were pretty wacko. Our country survived. We are going to survive. It will not be pretty. Some of us will know hardship similar to the great depression. And my prayers are going to be for you. We will all be impacted by the mess we are in. I guess we have to hit bottom before we start coming to the top. It took years to get us here, ignoring the liberal pull and rip tide, and it will take years to get us back to an even playing field. Heck, I may never see it. My prayer is that my sons do, and my future unborn grandchildren. If the trend continues of 50% of college grads not working, well, maybe they will see that the Democrats are not looking after them. I am not going to sit around and mope, or rage against the reality of today. I am still going to vote.We only have today, and I am going to make the best of it. If you died today, would it be worth one minute of wasting your time to complain and moan about "what could have been?" I agree, they GOP needs to figure out how to solve this problem, but they are not calling me to ask, so I am not going to fret about it right now.

3) When the time comes I am going to work harder than I ever have to see our guys/gals elected. I know some of you did more than I did, and I feel badly for you. But your efforts were not wasted. Unification is needed. Again, those of us who have faith need to persevere and be patient and pray about this country and our leaders. We need to also act.

4) Read Ace of Spades and rejoice in like-minded souls who want to win. Spread the word, Harass WaPo simpletons when the mood strikes and I am on my last nerve...the trick is I do it politely and don't respond to their name-calling. They have not seen the end of my Benghazi one-woman brigade. I am just recharging.

Blessings to you all. Like Ace stated yesterday, be thankful for one thing today. Be thankful even when something really bad happens (for example: when one of my brothers had a sudden and massively horrible stroke a year ago, I was thankful that he was unaware and in a coma. I asked God to take him if he could not recover, and I thanked God for the ten years we had with him as he beat cancer when he should not have. In 2001 he was given horrible odds, like 20% that he would live five years. He beat cancer but died of another problem. It was hard, don't get me wrong, and I miss him daily, but that is what people of faith do: we thank God in the midst of pain).

I am not asking "why" we lost, at least to God. People mock me, and, honey, I do not care. None of us know the future. It could be that things are going to get so hideous that the Republicans will slay many dragons in 2014 and 2016. To be clear: I do not want this to happen this way. Too many good people will suffer. But I have to believe that there are good men or women out there who will lead us to victory. To think otherwise is foolish and masochistic, as we simply do not know the future, only having control of today. Have faith. Be optimistic. Work hard. Enjoy life. Pray if you have the inclination, and I hope if you don't you will come to that place soon, for without God I would be lost.

I thank all of you for cheering me up the last couple of days. May God bless all of you. Keep your chin up. Your ancestors faced far worse and not only survived but prevailed. You are Americans.

God, I'm getting sick of Agent Orange constantly rolling over like this.

You know how in countries with parliamentary systems, the opposition will have a "shadow cabinet" with various people who are the Shadow Minister of Defence or the Shadow Minister of Finance and what have you?

Where those shadow ministers opine to the press about how they would handle current situations when and if their party came into power? Yeah, that.

We need a Shadow Speaker of the House who is a genuine conservative to be out there to counterbalance Boehner.

Ditto for a tea-party Shadow Senate Minority Leader keeping McConnell nervous.

And a Shadow House Appropriations Committee chair who will stand directly behind that corrupt sack of porkbarrelling shit Hal Rogers, while holding a Bowie knife, and slowly honing that knife on a strap while not saying a word.

If you flip one upside down, you can see that by resizing the diameter of the bottom of the container, the amount of product can be precisely controlled. A slightly smaller diameter will fit further up inside the container, thus reducing the actual quantity of yogurt you're getting....while the container remains the same size.

Perhaps abstensions are in order. I might be kidding.

The GOP will be blamed no matter what. The Democrats for politics, the MFM (BIRM) for propaganda. Do you trust the electorate to not be bamboozled for the umpteenth time? We have an ongoing Idiocracy.

I don't know hat the Big Answer is. One answer, however, would be to use the Debt/Spending Cap vote as Thor's Hammer. That's the only leverage for real, tangible results the GOP will have. Shut down the government. Do not falter. Do not wilt. Shut it down for as long as needed and do not retroactively pay anything once any fantastically advantageous (to conservatives) deal is made. The GOP will get blamed anyway. Might as well make it count.

416 Tamara Holder, the Dem talking head on FOX, just admitted on the Shaun Hannity Show, that she voted for Mitt Romney because she believed he could turn the economy around.

This confirms what I've been thinking from seeing first-hand the disappointment and lack of excitement for Obama2010 here in my overwhelmingly Democratic area of Los Angeles.

A significant number of white Democrats are scared crapless about the choice they made in '08. They didn't vote for him again this time, but weren't willing to go as far as voting for a Republican- thinking that there would be enough other people who'd vote to put Romney in. I just got off the phone with a friend living in San Francisco. I had called him and several other friends who live up there a few days before the election to get them out to vote Romney. They were Democrats who voted Obama and now regret it. He for one, didn't vote- he thought enough Republicans would show up to toss out Bari. Now he's stunned the he won re-election.

THEY'RE SCARED SHITLESS NOW!

People should not succumb to this feeling of dread. The Democrats are much weaker than you think. Obama won with millions fewer votes than he received in '08- he has no mandate and his Leftist policies are as unpopular as ever.

Some of you are saying, 'Let it burn'. Okay. That's a legitimate point of view. However, if history is a guide, economic disaster and foreign policy calamity are not known to bring about a positive outcome for anyone but demogogues and dictators. For example, has it occurred to any of you that President Obama wants a crash to happen? A few years ago, a high-level union guy (I forget his name) publicly advocated causing just this kind of crash as a way to demolish the capitalist underpinnings of the American economy. He was quietly let go and silenced, his statement buried by the MSM.

Right now, President Obama is no doubt thinking about FDR, how Roosevelt used the Depression to attain political advantage and enact policies that otherwise wouldn't be considered. Never let a crisis go to waste, right?

You presume that there are solutions. Brian Ross pointed out that terrorists can kill hundreds of thousands of people by bombing certain trains carrying routine chemical shipments. What he didn't understand is that there is no effective solution to this problem.

He also smuggled Uranium into the country, not realizing that there is no effective solution to that problem either. All he accomplished was showing terrorists how to do it.

My point is, some problems are not solveable within acceptable limits.

In an interview with ABC News, the nation's top elected Republican seemed to indicate that Congress wouldn't engage in the type of repeated repeal votes the way it had in the past two years. Boehner's office provided a transcript of the exchange:

SAWYER:

A couple of other questions about the agenda now. You have said next year that you would repeal the healthcare vote. That's still your mission?

BOEHNER:

Well, I think the election changes that. It's pretty clear that the president was reelected, Obamacare is the law of the land. I think there are parts of the healthcare law that are gonna be very difficult to implement. And very expensive. And as the time when we're tryin' to find a way to create a path toward a balanced budget everything has to be on the table.

SAWYER:

But you won't be spending the time next year trying to repeal Obamacare?

BOEHNER:

There certainly may be parts of it that we believe-- need to be changed. We may do that. No decisions at this point.

Yes. But he's inept and does not understand Americans, or math, so it will not go as he plans.

He hasn't yet handled a crisis well. If he thinks the country is going to rally around him like during the Depression he is sorely mistaken. If he really thinks his policies will work, he is mistaken. If he thinks Americans won't resist, and won't become quite innovate in working around him, he is mistaken.

It is inevitable that there's going to be a lot of pain, and it'll be spread around. We tried to stop it right up to 48 hours ago. So at the point the best outcome is that the chaos and calamity be pinned directly on Obama and the Dems.
