After all, we're just little people and really couldn't do much about it in any event. Today she and I got out of the house, drove a bit, ate lunch at an off beat restaurant and she got in a little shopping. The Lord has been very generous to both of us and we will not abuse his gift with being mad about the outcome of this election. I dunno, Ace. I figger the public understand the conservative message better than ya think. Might just be that the liberals are - mostly - stayin' out of our homes and bedrooms, or at least, more so than the Pubbies. Mebbe you should start promising to leave people alone, so that they can pursue their own definition of life andliberty? Mebbe you'll get a few more votes, here and there.Let them find their own versions of happiness, and not one chosen for them by the Republican Party or the conservative coalition or the 'moral majority,' and you might get a few more votes here and there. There's a reason that the appellations of 'haters' and 'bitter clingers' resonated so well with the electorate...and it has damn all to do with the American people not understanding your message. They understand it all too well, as a matter of fact. Posted by: Warren Bonesteel at November 07, 2012 08:00 PM (WwR1j) 95

Ideas are dangerous. If you have to run on an idea, run on as fluffy, value-less ideas as possible. Putting out ideas means you can lose votes; you will never gain votes for having a good idea. Expect more fluffy unicorn campaigns from both sides in the future. Ryan had big ideas; Romney had some ideas. Obama ran strictly as far away from ideas as possible, even clinging to Geinther's "We don't have any ideas, but we know we don't like yours" line of argument. Campaigns will become even more tribal and even less about ideas.

Latino groups to Obama: You owe Latinos the election, now pass immigration reform
Leaders of immigrant rights and Latino groups told reporters in a conference call on Wednesday that Obama owes his second term to Latino voters, and should repay them by passing comprehensive immigration reform. Obama promised to pass a law legalizing many of the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in the country while he campaigned four years ago, and he's been chastised by Latino leaders for breaking his promise. They'll all be lining up with their hands out now and the country will end up paying Posted by: TheQuietMan at November 07, 2012 08:03 PM (EmQa+) 107
Let's not get bogged down in philosophical squabbles.
The election was won or lost by the "OMFG I like saw Obama on like Oprah and he was like so friggin COOOL, and my Facebook friends told me like that Republican guy was like a rich old white dude" crowd. The bad news is that people like this actually vote. The good news is they won't vote for Generic Democrat (see the House races and the 2010 midterms). And Generic Democrat is what will be served up in 2016: either a 70 year old Hillary, a Joe Biden(!), or some other white guy in a suit. We need to accept that Obama is a once-in-a-generation politicain who is "hip and kewl" enough to appeal to the Dumb Public, and gets a free pass on every serious policy issue by being a "history making" politically correct candidate. That sucks, but the adoring acolytes are only in it for him, not for the Democrats as a party, and certainly not for the likes of Hillary who is openly against him. The GOP is winning the independents/swing voters and turning out its base to an acceptable if not super level. They're not the ones who should be worried about the future. The DEMS are now heavily dependent on a large but unreliable base representing increasingly narrow interests. The sort of people who will turn out to "be part of history" and "embrace the rock star cult of Obama!" but not necessarily for any other Democrat. I'm not advocating sticking your heads in the sand, but we need to accept that with a 39% D turnout, there is NOTHING the GOP could have done to win. Just need to wait it out until the cult dies down in 2016. Posted by: AussieMarcus at November 07, 2012 08:03 PM (dJDiO) 108

Los Angeles County voters chose safety Tuesday night when they approved a requirement that all porn actors wear condoms -- a move that adult film workers complain will put a massive dent into a booming industry. On May 11, 2012, the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) published proposed regulations governing "Oil and Gas; Well Stimulation, Including Hydraulic Fracturing, on Federal and Indian Lands." BLM is a latecomer to this party. Its belated meddling lacks practical or economic justification. Instead, the proposed BLM rule would drive oil and gas developers off federal and tribal lands. Complying with the rules is too complicated and costly. Producers can realize a much faster and much better return on their capital investment by developing oil and gas reserves on adjoining private lands.

To Ace: Love you man, been coming here for a long time and checking your website. I am 45 yrs old and am frankly worried sick about the country and its very hard to see my 72 yr old father and how he is so upset by the status of this country. Back in Illinois when I was growing up it was a very very special time and very peaceful. When I went to school in the south suburbs of Chicago we had all races present in our schools and it seemed that there was no way that things would be turning out like this. We had fun together, we played music in band and enjoyed those times. I dont want to get into it anymore than that right now, but suffice to say it is hard to watch it come to this and hard to know that my 2yr old boy is in debt for probably his whole life. Can I really tell him to "work hard and get ahead?" The truth is that I have been working hard my whole life and I have almost nothing to show for it. I think thatthat is part of the reason that maybe people are so wanting something else - is that we feel that we have worked hard and yet have nothing. I think its America's broken promise, and people just arent willing to believe on work and they wont believe it because it mostly doesnt happen the way it should. You cant really attribute it to one party or the other. Posted by: Kyle at November 07, 2012 08:09 PM (pB5Br) 136
I don't know any Asians who vote Dem. Half my friends are either Japanese, half Japanese, Korean or Vietnamese.
I did work with a sweet, sweet lady one time who voted Dem, but she was from Hawaii, which is very Lib and there is also a concept whose name escapes me at the moment, giri or something like that, that compels them out of a sense of obligation to vote for someone who did them a favor in the past. And that older Hawaiian Senator, whose name also escapes me, was a war hero and did a whole lot for them after WWII, so there was a huge sense of obligation and genuine fondness for him. In summary, evangelicals made up fully 24% of all voters yesterday and they voted 79% for Mitt Romney, the same as for George Bush in 2004, and 6% higher than for McCain. They even beat out the Mormons by 1 percentage point. One out of 4 voters yesterday were evangelicals. 79% for Romney. In case anyone missed that the first time. evaluate, filter, and understand information is highly over-rated. -- I think the Dem voting population is heavy with lower-IQ people. They do have a lot of highly educated progressives, but I think if you compared Dem and GOP voters you'd see a higher percentage of smarter voters in the GOP. If this is correct, it's something we have to deal with, how to appeal to people who really don't want to think much and are likely to follow the herd. Maybe it's grooming specific celebrities to carry our message, or strategic giveaways. Not sure of the specifics, but we can't rely on everyone to sort out conservative vs. progressive philosophies. In fact, this goes for people who aren't rock-stupid too. We have to look for hooks for affluent liberals, for example. I don't mean the hard core progressives, feminazis, etc. I think most of us know people that aren't that far left, but do mostly vote Dem. In many cases the younger ones run the house become Americanized and don't keep their family ways. For instance, my wife and I adopted 2 of her nieces. Both had been in trouble to some degree with the law. We kept them on the straight and narrow. One is now earning her specialty certificate in Endodontics, and the other just started Dental School. I think they would have had a harder time getting there without supervision from someone that knows our culture. Posted by: jrg at November 07, 2012 08:33 PM (PEwU1) 179
It's good that they were hoarding tampons, because Obamacare is imposing a new tax on tampons (under the "medical devices" section of the law), so at least their hoarding will save them some money.
That's one of the things that was so funny about that idiotic tampon rumor. It's Obama, not Romney, who is making it harder for women to use tampons. Or at least, he's making it more expensive. Enjoy, liberal dimwits. Instead of just four years of your idiotic messiah's stupid policies, you've now inflicted eight years upon yourselves -- and the rest of us. Bullshit Oreilly is bloviating on FNC now. He just doesn't get it: the Takers voted for more stuff from other people's pockets. Thanks to having the pocket-book and Obamacare under his belt, Barky will soon enough collapse the whole shooting match.
Things happen for a reason: we need to have our noses bloodied and soon enough we will begin to see the financial system collapse under the weight of its many millions of takers and ever-shrinking ranks of makers. The system fails when there are more hands out for Bamaphones than there are Bamaphones to give away. Many of you here at the HQ are non-religious. I am not. I am far from perfect in my ways but I serve the Risen Son of God, first, last and always. I now see that I live in a land bereft of Faith, barring faith in gubmint. Government amongst men can only be a representative republic whenever those governed men are moral in their nature. The republic is wholly unsuitable for an immoral people. We have always had immoral people, but now we are An Immoral People. And we shall no longer prosper as a people and nation. It is over for the American Experiment, and it may be centuries before this type government comes along again, indeed, if it ever comes along again. At some point a rational person admits a failure and takes appropriate steps to rectify that situation. This is where we as a nation are, currently. Break up the Union? Move to financially stable smaller states? Secede? Where do you go to? Where is there to move to? Until the cookie jar runs dry, the gimme mentality is primary in the population's mind. When the pockets they pick run dry, there will be a collapse, that's simply unavoidable. Then the Takers will want a Reckoning: "Where is my free stuff, b*tchez?" And there will be riots, deaths, failures. It's unavoidable. As for myself: I am ready for a war. I live ever simpler. I have no frivolities. I want blood. I want that Reckoning, only I want it now, or just as soon as physically possible for the Collapse to come. I have no kids, no great debt, no great something at stake. I just have me as a horse in this race. Posted by: sandman is now 9.5 at November 07, 2012 08:34 PM (zxaA2) 181

It was the last ticket sold to the Inaugural Voyage. Of the USS Titanic. Review your Survival Guide List. Because the Captain of the ship has not changed as neither did it's course. "Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss." Posted by: NathanB at November 07, 2012 08:36 PM (so6lH) 183
I wonder if Sharia Law allows tampons to be used? Anyone know?
Yes, but you have to sell it in your neighboring village after use. (Ask the Imam, Topic #536) Posted by: Rmoney Voter at November 07, 2012 08:38 PM (JtyGg) 184
#177 Their tent is huge. Most lawyers, academia, all unions, students, Catholics, Jews, most all minorities, loons, gays and everyone else that is a taker or wants to be taken care of. I left out alot but the problem is we need to open the tent and getour heads wrapped around what to do about the media or we are done. Posted by: KC at November 07, 2012 08:40 PM (i7KmQ) 185
Yes, there are tens of millions of really stupid people out there and they vote. Now we have to figure out how the scare them into voting for our side. It shouldn't be too hard.

Yes it's amusing but it speaks to the underlying truth that the Right let's the media lie their asses off and does not refute.

A wrong step now will plunge us into misery and our republic will be lost.
Patrick Henry Virginia Ratifying Convention June 5, 1788 He said a long time ago, and it only took 236 years to screw the pooch. We will all have a ringside seat to the most extravagant failure in human history. Rome lasted a thousand years and crucified the Son of God. We're going to go down to a rodeo clown, for heaven's sake... All I have to say. Free stuff while it's there. Glom on, suck it up, stuff your pockets. Have all you can steal or carry away. National fire sale. Woo hoo. Posted by: sandman is now 9.5 at November 07, 2012 08:44 PM (zxaA2) 188
"I think the Dem voting population is heavy with lower-IQ people. They do have a lot of highly educated progressives, but I think if you compared Dem and GOP voters you'd see a higher percentage of smarter voters in the GOP. "
Yes, and then you have higher IQ people who live in affluent suburbs who, under the guise of "compassion," want to throw goodies at the uneducated poor minorities - to keep them in the place. I don't think they conciously think that way - but why else would you wish to continue programs that have failed for 40 years? The affluent and high IQ Dems favor a caste system - because they think they'll be at the top of the heap, telling everyone else (the dumb people) how to live. The beauty of it (for them) is that it is disguised as caring. And the low IQ minorities are too dumb to figure out they're being kept on the plantation. I grew up in a blue collar neighborhood and I still know people who live there. And they're Dem because mom and dad were and dad had stories about how FDR saved the universe, and that's that. For them it's a tribal affliation, like being a Packer fan or a Yankee fan. Posted by: Donna V. at November 07, 2012 08:45 PM (7OHl8) 189

The country - and the world - will be a plenty scary place in a couple of years, without us having to dream up scares. Think the Iranians aren't just a bit encouraged by our election results? Think the Israelis are just going to sit around and resign themselves to being nuked, now that their relatives in So. Florida have demonstrated they don't give a crap? The economy will be scarier than hell. We don't have to scare them, we just have to ceaselessly reinforce the idea that it is their own poor choices in the voting booth and the Dem pols they elect that are causing the scariness. Not Bush, not Romney, not rich people, not Ryan - the people they put into office. Posted by: Donna V. at November 07, 2012 08:54 PM (7OHl8) 191
At a water cooler gathering at work today, one of the young ladies admitted, proudly, that she voted with her vagina. One of the guys said "maybe you should've used your head".

My dad, rest his soul, was the son of Irish Catholicimmigrants who were die-hard Dems.
While Dad was in college, he went to see William Buckley speak at Columbia, who validated so much of his political thinking. Then Dad committed the ultimate political sin in his family: he voted for Nixon over JFK. His family practically disowned him after that - good Catholic boy not voting for the first Irish Catholic president? But he didn't care. He never succumbed to the political Dem family groupthink so prevalent in immigrant societies. He thought for himself. I count myself lucky to be his daughter. And how I wish he were still here. He'd have some great insight into what happened yesterday, and how to move forward. Posted by: Marybeth at November 07, 2012 09:21 PM (fkaOH) 193

-- Glad you said this. I miss my Dad too and his wisdom. But perhaps even more relevantly now, I admire him for how he dealt with some awful hardships that happened to him all at once. In fact, I *know* he has felt the way I feel today, although about entirely different things. What I saw him do was put one foot in front of the other, day after day, no complaining, and he concentrated on me and my sisters. Eventually things got better, even if never again perfect, and some of the weights were lifted off his shoulders. A good thing to remember today. Things don't always turn out how you expect, even when they look darkest. Posted by: Mayday at November 07, 2012 09:32 PM (F3s39) 194

My dad was Irish Catholic with both of his parents from Ireland too. He voted for Nixon too because he thought the Kennedys were as phony as hell and he couldn't trust them as far as he could throw them. Posted by: TheQuietMan at November 07, 2012 09:49 PM (EmQa+) 195

This is how we know we've lost. Because people actually bought this shit. The only way that happens is if people are so stupid, so indoctrinated, as to believe anything the progressives tell them. Apparently, they are many now.

147-If you are truly against abortion, you need a utilitarian framework. Saying that rape is part of God's will and that women can shutdown reproduction after a rape is partly why we have a post on people who seriously thought an American presidential candidate was going to outlaw contraception. Now stupidity like that is extremely hard to fix, but we are responsible for douchebags like Akin helping to marginalize us. As Ace mentioned, you will never get Americans against abortion by talking up that end-its Akin's fault for not talking about partial birth abortion etc. As for gay marriage, if you don't believe in it, don't have one. I can't think of a better example of limited government than that. And frankly I was in love with teh boobez at age 6, I defy anyone to tell me gays "choose" that orientation. But gay activism aside, its long past time to leave marriage up to the people. GOP bread and butter is national security and the economy. SoCons are increasingly becoming a marginalized breed of political animal in our day and age. (I'm a Moron, so I'm a dirty conservative breed of political animal-don't be thinking I'm defaming religious voters)
