Chris Matthews: Gee, I'm Sorry I Said I Was Happy A Hurricane Killed 100 People

"It's not until you read the newspapers" that you realize the impact on people's lives. Like, for example, the 100 dead.

He didn't read the newspapers? He had no idea of the incredible suffering? He had no idea of the death poll?

No, all he saw a lethal storm as was an opportunity for Democrats.

That's what they strive for. A few, politically-depended rich people that are easy to control, and a huge mass of poor people who can't fight back.

A strong middle class is their nightmare - independent, too hard and too numerous to control, have resources to fight back.

41 And we get blamed for running the convention during a hurricane, mind you. What did Chris have to say about the RNC during that storm? Has to be something.

We just can't win over traditional media.

This is why the House is in a no win situation here. It's just a matter of how much they will bend over in the spirit of bipartisanship before they reach their tipping point, and start accepting blame for everything that fails or collapses.

So my recommendation, which I understand is fantasyland stuff, is get petty with it. Obama won with the most unserious agenda I ever recall in any race. Boehner should get up there and say he, in the spirit of bipartisanship, wants to pass Obama's campaign agenda.

In one day, pass the "Binder full of women act", preventing binders from being used in any government hiring decisions. Pass the "Free birth control act", mailing every American citizen a condom. Pass the "Unwilling haircut act", and proclaiming a high school prank as prosecutable with a 50 year statute of limitations. Pass "Protect Big Bird act", guaranteeing full funding for PBS through 2016. And suck it up and pass, "Pay your fair share act", taxing 2% another 4% of their income.

Then get up there and say you heard the American people and passed Obama's campaign agenda. You're going to get put on the firing line anyway, do it while mocking the hell out of the ridiculousness of where we find ourselves as a country.

1) obviously, stop acting like rape is not such a bad thing
2) stop starting wars all over the world and wasting our money, lives, reputation .. acting like Billy Badass may feel good, but it turns most people off
3) stop acting like rich people deserve all their money...the game is rigged in their favor and everyone knows it...this is a loser issue for you
4) lose the contemptuous and arrogant tone of voice

good issues to keep and reinforce:

1) personal responsibility.....even liberals like me hate leaches leaching off hard working people...EVERYONE needs to work, even the disabled...they can do a little work for their foodstamps...just make it work appropriate for their ability
2) anti-bailout .... I applaud the Tea Party view which is against bailouts...

this is just for starters.......o yeah, stop being such dicks...be more cool, less arrogant, less hateful...realize that other perspectives have validity

50 You see?

They destroy themselves, and they celebrate as they do it.

It isn't conservative women who kill their unborn children after all.
It isn't conservative pundits that cheer a storm that kills people in conservative districts.

They kill themselves off. Their only hope is to expand the franchise to illegals and felons, which is why they push so hard for it.

Our side lost this one ourselves. Our team didn't turn out. Perhaps the candidate was flawed. Perhaps it is something in the ideology that isn't connecting. Who knows right now.

But they are not unbeatable. We were so close.

Let's not loose heart.
We need faith to see us through the hard times that are going to come.

White evangelical Protestants constituted 24% of the 2012 electorate, compared with 23% in 2008 and 21% in 2004.
They voted 79% Romney vs 20% Obama.

Romney received as much support from evangelical voters as George W. Bush did in 2004 (79%) and more support from evangelicals than McCain did in 2008 (73%).

Over the weekend I said evangelicals would turn out 80% for Romney. I was not far off.

24% of people who voted yesterday were evangelicals.

110 Ah but unless they start taxing he rich .. Small busniess ... if the stupid middle who voted democrats in power think Obama needs more time to finish his job so let them , the only people who will get hurt the most are the blacks and Hispanic who voted 75% to 95% for dmovpctas,

Remember a lot of red states sent democrats senators back ...( So a guy makes one comment, apologizes for it... Abortion it's judges not legislators that law it or outlaw it.... But a Senator who voted for the past 6 years for everything the majority of the citizens were against... Vote her back ino power)

Democrats can do say anything , lie about their race to get preferential treatment ... A democrat can keep a harem in some touristy third world country they send him back to Washington , .republican and democart voters don't hold democrats to account... A republican politician, either President, Senator , gets blamed and defeated.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Really a liberal tells me I've got to see value in others views?

1. You aren't friendly when you call us dicks.

2. Our party did everything but tar and feather Akin for his stupidity. Our scorched earth approach on Akin cost us any chance at that F*ing seat so F* you.

3. Saddam Hussein broke UN treaty agreements. That is a fact. We were attacked by AQ that is also a fact.
War in Libya? Drone strikes in Syria Yemen et al. That's YOUR GUY.

4. Every person making more than 250K a year I've met has
a. Busted his/her ass for years
and/or
b. Taken some serious risks.
Maybe some folks didn't come by their money honestly, it doesn't mean I should punish those that have. You libbies are famous for being willing to give money to a bunch of folks who don't need help just to hit a few that might deserve help. Yet if a few rich folks don't "deserve" (by some arbitrary libby standard) their money, ALL of them must pay as if they all don't. Well if you punish success you get less of it.

As far as my contemptuous and arrogant tone of voice. That ship sailed with Robert Bork's SCOTUS nomination. Your lying cheating ilk don't deserve the respect I give a dog after that day. You want civility an comity to return to discourse? Your side through the first second third and numerous other stones before we got tough. You will make the first concession. As far as the "cool" factor goes. That is perpetually defined by your friends to specifically exclude us. Attempting to be cool is therefore a lost cause because your side defines it as "What conservatives aren't"

Last and certainly not least. I've likely done far more reading and know far more philosophy and theory about your point of view than you've ever even considered doing. So much so that I can probably argue your point of view better than you can. Your position is given due credence and consideration.

116 3 Million Soft Repub Indy leaners did not show up--when Romney can't top McCain's total in 2008 while Obama is losing about 10 million votes from 2008 pretty much killed the ticket from the top down. Second, too much reliance on advertisements instead of GOTV. Third, a candidate who failed HS Biology in MO and retread loser over macaca in VA didn't help. I also think that Repub's failure to scream repeal Obamacare did not help with these voters.

Even stranger is the fact that he is owns a small business that is in decline due to the Washington Democrat's policies and priorities. So despite the plain evidence in his own business, he does not think the NY Times and NPR could be wrong.

125 #47, I don't know, but Republicans don't seem to get that huge wealth disparities in USA is not good. A guy who puts in a 40 hour week doing janitorial work, working his ass off does not deserve to live in squalor just because he was born with a learning disability and can only get Cs or Ds in school......you guys need to have more compassion for people born with less talents, skills than others......talented people don't deserve their wealth...they were born lucky...just like me...Im lucky as hell but I didnt do anything to give myself good genes....just lucky

Posted by: walter at November 07, 2012 08:17 PM (Rri2G)

127 A guy who puts in a 40 hour week doing janitorial work, working his ass off does not deserve to live in squalor just because he was born with a learning disability and can only get Cs or Ds in school

Oh, so I guess we should just start handing four bedroom houses to janitors out of sympathy then? Hey, four bedroom houses for everyone!

I can tell you've really thought this through, walter.

On the other hand, just maybe -- and I'm just sketching this out as I go along -- someone who does a job like a janitor his entire life should expect to have a relatively poor lifestyle because, oh I don't know, pretty much anyone can be a janitor, and, really, most places employing janitors could get by just fine without one if they had to.

As an aside, this hypothetical is silly, because janitors by and large are highly overpaid for their skillsets and replaceability. I know a janitor (not what they call him, but, make no mistake, he's just a janitor) in a Catholic primary school who pulls in $60,000. Unskilled labor. Anyone can do it. Could get by just fine without it. Just throwing that out there.

And no -- I didn't win some lottery to wind up with a better life than the janitor. I worked harder, applied my talents more effectively, and made better choices than he did. I deserve every fucking bit of my "better life".

In fact, if there were justice in the cosmos, it would be me getting to retire in my early 50's with gold-plated pension and healthcare benefits and a summer home on the lake and not some mouth-breathing ape who "worked" for the UAW for a few decades doing a job a metronome could be trained to do.

talented people don't deserve their wealth

Uh, dumbass, if wealth is not to be apportioned by talent (and therefore by relative contribution to the human condition), how do you recommend it be apportioned?

Forget it -- don't answer that. You're an imbecile, and any response you would offer would, if implemented, result in catastrophe and mass death. You bubble-headed hippy dipshits want to pretend that everyone is the same and that if we all shared equally in the imaginary fixed-size pie of society's collective wealth that John Lennon's Imagine would become reality.

Guess what, walter -- we're not the same. Take excessively from the makers and give to the takers in the name of "fairness" and the makers will simply put down the cart they're being forced to drag and just hop on in the back. Watch us, wallie. Gonna be fun watching your party's throng of locusts eat each other when the music stops and there aren't any chairs left.

Just shut up and be grateful that conservatives are here doing all the heavy lifting, taking all the risks, generating all of the wealth, and generally allowing you to live in your clown-ass fantasy camp where we're all pretty torn on whether rape is a good thing or not and janitors should be pulling 100 footers into marinas all summer. I know I'd be perfectly content to let you enjoy your delusions if you would just leave me and mine alone.

129 A friend of our family, who is a Democrat here in Iowa, revealed in a moment of candor, that she wants Sarah Palin to be gang-raped, strung up by her neck, and her church burned down. The then boasted that she speaks "On behalf of all women". Bear in mind that she wasn't drunk, or throwing a temper tantrum. She was dead serious. Let the full weight of that sink in for a moment.

At the time I told her that that was horrific and no reasonable person would ever think that. She seemed pretty pleased with those terms, and with herself.

This is emblamatic of Liberals, so please don't lecture on rape, when you're so reprehensible yourself. I'm anti-rape, but that's just me.

I might actually show her this, so she can comment, and set you straight, Walter.
