Bob Casey (D) Holds Senate Seat in PA, Defeats Tom Smith
Obama Wins Michigan, Immediately Upon Closing of Polls

Oy.

Obama wins Michigan, right out of the box, right as the polls close. That means, of course, it was not close.

Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Colorado are too close to call.

Romney of course takes Texas and Louisiana and Kansas and the Dakotas and Wyoming. Obviously, this is just the Republican base. And 4 of the 5 EV's in Nebraska.

And the Decision Desk is still running. Once again, light colors merely indicate who has the edge in tabulated votes. It does not predict a winner. Only dark colors do that.

I didn't see this... but on Twitter, some are claiming that Warren is projected to beat Brown.

Some decent news: Chatter is that Obama expects to lose Florida. Further, key north Virginia precincts which delivered the state to Obama are giving Obama less votes. For example, Louden county was Obama +8 in 2008; now it's even.

Assuming we take these states -- and oh God, the waiting is awful -- it will come down, as expected, to either Ohio, or Wisconsin and some combination of Colorado, Iowa, and/or New Hampshire.

By the way: In years past, the networks have always called Democratic states very early, and Republican states quite late. This really isn't out of the normal.

yeah, seems a bit early

But what seems - so far, and not a lot of hard data is yet out - to be the absence of a huge wave is infuriating me.

Cannot believe this thing could be close on the presidential level. And not taking the Senate will be a disaster, if that's what happens.

Living in CA, it's easy to have lost most respect for one's fellow citizens (note: not, in any substantive sense, fellow Americans). But I really was expecting and relying on this cycle being a megaton-yield blowout. Anything less may slow the bleeding, but confirms there really isn't a chance of any real improvement now.

Once again, voting seems screwed up in Flor-i-duh. Those long silly ballots. Confusion reigns. One turn signal blinking.

From Gloom to Hope in Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida
By Jim Geraghty
November 6, 2012 8:49 P.M. Comments1
The mood from GOP insiders, both inside and outside the Romney campaign, was looking pretty gloomy about 45 minutes ago, with great anxieties about Virginia, Florida, and even North Carolina. As more returns have come in, the mood is brightened considerably — the northern suburbs of Virginia are looking better for Romney, the Florida panhandle continues to give Romney gobs of votes when he desperately needs them, and good numbers in Wake County in North Carolina.

Don’t count your chickens before they hatch, subsequent counties could change things, and all proper caveats apply.

You're right. I smell something weird here. We're gonna pick up seats in the House, yet lose the Senate and the Presidency?

The House is already chock full of Republicans, and we're gonna put more in there? Yet we can't get one friggin Senate pickup? Obama's close in VA and NC? No friggin way.

Oh, and for all these states and senate races being called already, I think they're working off of these exit polls, and I don't trust em, as ususal.

I'm keeping up hope for now. This stays this way by midnight, and I'm gonna need some anti-depressants.

354 Fox called Baldwin for Senate in WI. I'm raising the bullshit flag. From JS Online:
5% of districts reporting: Baldwin: 43% Thompson: 54%

They're basing it on EXIT POLLS! Pulling numbers out of their asses!

355 How our professors
have betrayed the American people
The Colossal Flunk
WILLIAM F . BUCKLEY, JR .
JUST AS PRIESTS go to confession ,
and presidents to the polls, an d
distinguished men of letters to the
critics, just so, the professors ough t
to turn to the American people for
an occasional report card. As a lay -
man, one of the signatures on th e
report card will be mine . For thos e
professors who have dealt with issues
of immediate and vital interest t o
the welfare and integrity of the
United States, I vote a resoundin g
flunk .
And the failure of the intellectuals
is serious indeed in consideration
of the nature of their relation -

World War II, was graduated from Yale
in 1950, where he won acclaim as a journalist

Good night.
