To anyone worried about NC... I'm in southern Wake County, and guys, this is Romney Country. I failed to mention in the other thread that 4 years ago, you had to swim in a sea of SCOAMF signs. Now, I've seen 5 in the whole county.
For those of you unfamiliar with NC, Wake is where all the northerners have relocated to, so if we're going red, so is this state. Posted by: NotSoLoneWolfinNC at November 06, 2012 07:53 PM (LN5eJ) 43

PEOPLE:
NC is 'trending' Obama right now because the numbers coming in are early/absentee votes. Obama CRUSHED McCain in the early/absentee numbers on the order of 60/40+ in 2008...and only won the state by 0.4 percent because the election day numbers are so heavily GOP. Therefore: CALM THE FUCK DOWN. Posted by: Jeff B. at November 06, 2012 07:53 PM (/COnL) Posted by: ShameTheShameless at November 06, 2012 07:54 PM (TFeHR) 46

K, I was gonna open up something like a 2007 syrah or pinot, and open a 2003 cab when Romney wins. But there's a bottle of Bulleit sitting on the shelf (which is closer than the wine cellar), right next to some Turkey and Tito's. Or Hendrick's Gin. Then again, the ice is farther than the wine cellar.
I do have a bottle of original 8 year old Wild Turkey 101 from 1994 to trade in case of zombie attack. I was going to open it new years 2000. I wouldn't need ice for that - just branch water. Checking in from Project ORCA in Northeast Florida. The campaign put me in a heavily AA district. No Obama signs were posted and no electioneering took place outside the polling place.
Voting was steady at times, but never overly busy. Three roving attorneys showed up throughout the day. Mitt's attorney showed up twice and stuck around. The two Dem attorneys came and went. Poll workers mentioned that many early voted, so maybe Team Red is right that O's was cannibalizing Election Day turnout during early voting. At 7:00, there were five people left to vote in a precinct that is his base. The poll workers said turnout was good for the district, and maybe it was, but it didn't feel like there was any enthusiasm there. I think I saw two O shirts all day. Just got off the phone with my brother who is a precinct captain in Franklin County, VA. At his last count at 6PM, they had 87% turnout, a new record for his area. He said nearly every registered republican (from what he could tell), turned out. Numbers for his precinct or county are not certified yet, but he feels very confident. The head of the Franklin County democrats was stationed at his precinct all day, and even SHE remarked that the GOP really got their shit together for this one. The media's interest is in viewers. Viewers mean ratings. Ratings mean higher ad revenues.
If you are under the misconception that any for-profit media outlet has "the truth" as their interest, I'd like to sell you a bridge in the greater NYC area. Lovely views of both Brooklyn and Manhattan. Historic architecture. Been featured in many movies. Get over the media and stop worrying about anything but ACTUAL COUNTED VOTES. Things that are worthwhile are hard. Grow up. Did you think Obama and his media minions were just going to give up and turn the WH over without a dirty, nasty fight. Be not afraid. I'm starting to get a handle on this.
If early votes don't match up with early votes from 8 years ago and new people have moved in but may or may not have voted early in numbers never recorded, it's a clear sign that changes may be occurring in the local electorate. This all means that a candidate might receive more votes than the last time unless exit polling was more accurate and further analysis is needed on outlying factors. Speaking as a woman who does NOT use her vagina to pull the lever, I'm not reading to write off the female vote yet.

Romney ran a pretty good campaign.
Republican turnout was very high. The economy sucks. The President is not particularly popular. The Democrats are going to retain the Senate and the Presidency. CONCLUSION: The Republican coalition is too small to win national elections. The GW Bush 51% coalition is dead. Romney got all of those voters and still lost. Karl Rove was and is an imbecile. Better figure out how to win young voters and a higher percentage of minority voters, or the Dems are going to hold theWhite House for a hell of a long time.
