Mostly the responsibility of the Election Judge at that precinct to ensure the rules are followed. By EVERYONE Poll workers (clerks) will follow the Judge's lead. Poll watchers / observers from the minority party at that precinct s/b there to keep 'em honest, as happened in this case.

Just back from voting in my 2x4town. A steady stream, very efficiently handled. I live in NY, so I doubt that the state will flip, but the turnout (according to the totals recorded on the machines) has been double the last national election. No hats, no shirts, no pins or any paraphernalia having to do with political organizations allowed. They will tell you to leave and lose it before coming back. Big sign up stating photo ID required. I bet some places start with a default of 100% turnout, 100% Dem ticket. Then the Dems that show up just confirm what was already deemed to be true. Got from a good source that in Lancaster, PA Hispanics are bussing in people (Lancaster City is 1/3 Puerto Rican). Super high turnout. They are legal as the poll watchers are checking them, but huge GOTV in Lancaster.

Just finishing up lunch, by actual count I have transported22 voters to the polls, all Rs, and have some more scheduled by the local R staffers, maybe about a dozen or so for the afternoon. Every time I get to a poll, I do a quick check, the turnout is very high here in SW Oakland County MI, at least the spots I have seen. I think this is good. Very good. My Election Day happiness got interrupted a few hours ago. On the way home from doing some last-minute errands, our car got sideswiped by a semi going around a turn on the outside at the same time we were going around on the inside. No one was hurt, but the left rear quarter panel was pushed in, the rear bumper (yes, the beam under the chrome "bumper", the left rear light destroyed, and a bit of crumpling on the right rear quarter panel from the bumper twisting.

In 2004, inside the polling place there was a wheelchair with a Kerry bumper sticker stuck to the back. The first thing I said was "That has to go" referring to the sticker, not the wheelchair. In hindsight, I should have just ripped it off and thrown it in the trash.

Voted here thin morning in Chicago--way behind enemy lines. My polling place was in a coffee shop and was cramped and not set up well. There was nothing untoward and the election volunteers were all friendly and professional--of course, I didn't give them a clue as to who I was voting for. Oh, and paper ballots. Yaaay!

We've been spared (some of us) the majority of the devastation by the unemployment rate. (up till lately) During the last year I've heard grumbles and mumbles and outright curses because the destruction he is wreaking has finally reached us. This is on top of the EPA and USDA and OSHA and IRS crap. We are not amused nor do we believe a word he says. Lots of Amish around and they are not willing to ignore his probes into their way of life. They see the assault on Catholics Beliefs as just the first rung in a ladder leading to the attempted destruction of the Church with other sects such as themselves next on the list. Finally this is military country. It is quite common for for students to select military duty over college. The roots of the militia and the minute men are still here. Obama's apologizing to foreign princes and his anti military actions have raised eyebrows and ire from Allentown to Erie. Benghazi was a final straw proving his ineptitude and vacillation is deadly and perhaps cowardly. He has revealed himself and the picture isn't pleasing to most Pennsylvanians. Pepsi changed Their logo back in 2008 to more reflect Barky's logo. Since then sales of Pepsi have gone downhill, and what was a somewhat small spread between Coke and Pepsi is now something like 20%. Head of Pepsi is also a big Barky supporter. How'd ha work out for you?

Dr Pepper is good stuff. I liked Mello Yello in college but last time I had it it was like gunky syrup. Lately I've just been drinking this flavored carbonated water, from Safeway. It has no sugar, no caffeine, no color, just flavor and fizzy water. Very refreshing.

Just got back from saving the Republic. Ballot number 325 in my little slice of Cuyahoga County. Usually whenI vote in a regular election (non preezy) my ballot number is anywhere from 70 to 90. Last time when I voted for Palin/McCain it was 165 (if I recall) I vote about the same time (230 to 300pm) all the time. Lots of middle class (mid range) in the area and of course older folks. Signage in the area is majority Romney. This ward went Obama last time. I dont think he has a snowballs chance this time here. Housing prices down 30-50k on houses that were up around 275k 4 yrs ago. Those Carls ads in the late 90's or so were the worst. I think the slogan was something like "if it doesn't get all over the place, it doesn't belong in your face." Exploding ketchup all over the shirt, disgusting chewing sounds, guys eating the cheese off the burger wrappers.

Having been born and raised in Ohio, I really like Wendy's, but since moving to Missouri in 2009 I've discovered Culver's and they are pretty good too. Also, I'm a hardcore Conservative and I drink Pepsi. I was raised on it and now I drink Pepsi One simply because it's the only diet pop that I can stand and it doesn't have aspartame. In 2008 I personally witnessed Obama signs in the windows on either side of the entrance to a polling place in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia.
A friend who lives in Philly said that the helpful poll worker showed her how to use the voting machine by punching all the Democrat buttons and saying "Like this". He then stepped back so the voter could enter the curtained voting booth, but stood right behind the voter. My friend said that if she had switched the votes to Republican, the poll worker would have easily known, because he would have heard her pushing the buttons, and observed the delay in voting.
