Monday Morning News Dump

I don't know about you, but I woke up with my heart pounding this morning. I've been waiting for tomorrow since Janaury 20, 2009. I'm not one of those people that held out hope that Obama might govern as a centrist. I did my homework. I knew who he was before he beat McCain. Please, if you can, drive you your local victory center after work today and ask if there is anything you can do to help.

A note on polls. Don't pay attenion to them today. Example, Romey is tied with Obama in a D+11 poll. These polls are beyond ridiculous. There is only one poll that matters. That is tomorrows election. Show up and vote. Tell your other Republican friends to show up and vote. Tell your Republican family members to show up and vote. We will win if we turnout like we did in 2010.

4 I woke up this morning feeling good about the election too then I watched CBS Morning show and they were saying how Obama was up in these polls. So I became depressed.

The key to this election is turnout. If Obama gets the same turnout as 2008, Mitt is likely to lose. But if he doesn't, then all bets are off.

22 Romney's voice sounded strained at first, but the crowd's chants and enthusiasm gave him new energy. 30,000 showed up according to Secret Service estimate. I was listening in the car, a guy drove up from Baltimore with his kid to be at the event. A union guy reported he saw folks he knew - democrats and independents in the throng. Lots of young people too.
Romney was gracious to Chris Christie, he mentioned the storm and Christie's efforts on behalf of his constituents.

We know the media will try to cheerlead SCOAMF all the way home. DO NOT WATCH THEM.

One of the stories we're going to see played out over this decade is the absolute collapse not only of public trust in the media, but public attention paid to them. This election will be Exhibit A in the story of how they abandoned public trust to pursue an outcome.

93 Whether they are right about that is an open question, but there is little doubt that if Christie doesn’t want Republican activists (whom presumably he will need if he runs for president in the future) holding a grudge against him for sandbagging their candidate in the last week of a close race, then he needs to listen to this New York Post editorial and give the country a loud and clear reminder that he wants Romney to win on Tuesday, not Obama.

Waaaay too fucking late for that (not that I ever would have supported Christie for any federal office). Christie sucked Barky's dick in public. He's got to live with America-hating jizz on his face. It's who he is. It's what he is.

I can believe it. Which issue divides the Democrats? They are in lockstep. You can't even get them to engage on things that they claimed to hate about Bush (drone attacks, for example).

Look at the fights that break out here over social conservatism.

I know several Republicans/conservatives who have bought into the "pox on both their houses" argument. Hopefully they are going to wise up and vote against 0 tomorrow, but I can see them at least waffling around on a poll question.

109 Just made the family poll:
87 Year old Dad, MI, Romney. NEVER waivered. Never a GodDamnedOcrat.
Shitty welfare queen sister, MI, D. C. for ever. Every family has one these days. Dad already crushed her shit.
Her two dumb offsprings, 29 & 33, TX, if they bother to vote, no improvment from 2008. Won‘t matter to TX outcome anyway.
Redneck brother and wife, MI. Solid Romney.
School teacher sister and Businesman husband, MI, Solid Romney.
Wife‘s sister and nephew, NY, RABID Republican (also redneck for proper classification.
Wife‘s brother and wife, CO, sorry two failures. But on brighter note, nephew and wife offset with 2 more R‘s.
Finally self, wife, son, WI, R3.

So family poll: NY too bad, but f‘ng city kills upstate as always and OfuckAmerica takes it.
MI Romney.
WI Romney.
CO too close to call.
TX Romney (offsets bitterness of NY).

ExPat family poll: Romney wins with landslide.

Next poll of concern tomorrow.

For sport, who of the above are Army(2), Marine(1), Navy(2)?

Hint, left to the military sector of the family vote is3-2 Oshit.

There is no tomorrow for them.

It has little to do with landlines vs. mobile phones.

The problem is that stuff that would have automatically raised the tinfoil hat flag a scant two years ago is no longer outside the realm of reasonability.

Telling strangers anything is now dangerous.

There is no way to tell if the caller is working some identity theft angle. There is no way to tell if the caller is some political operative making a list of people who "need" to have the IRS have a second look at their tax returns. There is no way to tell if the caller is Loughner or James Holmes or some other deranged product of the Annenberg curricula looking for a home to invade and turn into a shooting gallery.

Unfortunately, that's not true. People will always love polling, even if they know it's bogus. People are just mesmorized by numbers and rankings regardless of how they are constructed. It's deeply embedded into us and is always ripe for abuse (just as manipulations of guilt are to Westerners - moreso, even). Pollsters have this advantage and they know it.

165 Unfortunately, that's not true.

Yeah, but. . .

Political opinion polling will be relegated to where it deserves to be: In the Parade insert of your Sunday paper.

The Classic Rock radio stations all run 500 best songs lists every Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend. I sincerely doubt that people give those lists much thought beyond some good-natured bitching about what qualifies as "classic."

3 reasons for inflated polls: (1) If inflate O's numbers, may increase Dim enthusiasm/turnout and that could result in O win; (2) even if O doesn't win, increased Dim turnout helps Dims running for House and Senate; (3) sets up "Election was Stolen" meme to delegitimize Romney. Loss of remaining pollster credibility is chalkedup to doing everything possible to reelecting the mostfar left Preezy ever ("Forward!"). Plus 'mericans are stupid andmost are unaware of the bias or willkinda forget by the next election.

Of the 4 major counties in the DFW area, Dallas is the blue one, the others Tarrant, Denton, and Collin lean red. Early voting is down in Dallas and up in the others. This trend apparently holds true for the other major counties in TX (all generally blue), such as Harris (Houston), Bexar (San Antonio), Travis (Austin), and El Paso. They too are all down. Go see the article for the specific numbers.

As for Obama, I knew he'd govern as a Leftist, but his term has been even worse than I'd feared, in large part because of the ineptness of our congresscritters. I think the only thing that's holding this country's head above water are some very good governors and state legislatures.

203 Just a reminder on Ohio.

I've run two analysis methods. In one I worked out the polling averages after unskewing them. They were pointing to a 4% Romney win in Ohio. That margin of victory would be 250,000 votes.

In the other I went in and looked at all of the early voting numbers, then voter turnout percentages and Independent support. I also calculated a maximum level of fraud that could be generated in the core Obama counties. This analysis resulted in a Romney win of 240,000 votes.

Finally, there was a report yesterday from the bell weather county in Ohio that Romney is winning it by 4%. Adjusting for population, that points to a 225,000 vote Romney win.

228 How in Sam Hill is Romney only up in VA by 2, but winning indies by 21 points? That makes no sense! (I feel like I just said this about another poll a couple days ago...)

At any rate, I hope the end result is even better and he drags Allen over the line with him. Then I would at least have one non-sleazebag Senator.

233 Went to the Ryan rally here in MN yesterday...struck up conversations with a bunch of would be morons/moronettes...Consensus is that conservatives are quietly raging against the SCOAMF en masse'. Heard lots of people saying they were using caller ID to not answer pollsters.

There were groups of people from every walk of life there (yes, including minorities). The one very satisfying/hopeful image from the rally was how many young adults were there. Lots of college kids from liberal schools coming out to a Paul Ryan rally. Made me think there is hope...

Conservatives all over the country will be heard loud and clear on Tuesday...

A two-member team of volunteers headed out to Leedom Street in Jenkintown, a modest neighborhood dating from the early 20th century.

Bob Wirtshafter, an energy consultant and former University of Pennsylvania professor, worked one side of the street. He said that even residents identified as Obama voters sometimes shut the door in his face.

By blaming Bush.

Despite Obama's heroic efforts to bring the country out of the ditch, stupid voters blamed the guy who has been driving the last 4 years, instead of the guy who dug the ditch...or something. I get lost in the fake media metaphores sometimes.

That is why the pollsters think the populace is at least D+3 or D+4, because of the level of registrations, a goodly number of which are crap, and a goodly number of them who will not vote, esp young voters.

They are in for a shock, because the MFM and the JEF still believe the inflated false registration numbers

283 HEY HEY HEY Morons!

I am still thawing out from that TREMENDOUS Romney rally last night!! I had a ticket, at 3:00 decided it was too cold to go, at 4:30 decided fuck it, I'm going. Got to secret parking area (pays to knowoffice parksin the neighborhood) at about 5:00, walked a half mile, waited 45 minutes to get in and thought I would miss Romney but he was wicked late. Was in back of the crowd but had a blast. It was damn COLD too, an incredible crowd given the short notice and freezing weather. I talked to a family who drove down from Allentown, that's a 90 minute drive. Heard somebody on the radio this morning that came from Wilmington, Delaware which is close to 2 hours away. I-95 was backed up for 2 miles at one point.

This was not just a bunch of curiosity seekers either. I saw tons of people with faces painted, wearing Romney t-shirts, hats, buttons, etc. People here are PUMPED.

We are winning PA. I've told you all this since March, and I have stood by it, and now I am dead certain. Romney will carry Bucks County by at least 75,000. Philly tunout is going to suck, Obama won't even get to Kerry 2004 level. I saw on Twitter that even Nate Silver is saying this morning that Bucks County could decide the entiore election. I've told y'all that too.

My key state to watch now is Virginia. If Romney wins PA but loses Ohio, Virginia will decide the winner.

284 BTW Sandy is still a huge story in the Philly area. Was lead story on local news last night even with huge Romney rally. Lots of homes still without power and people are getting pissed. I passed four work crews on my way to work this morning. It may very well affect voter turnout tomorrow.

293 2 points:

1. The World Series "rule" looks much more impressive by going back only to 1940. In the Series before that, it's only 3-5.

2. Sabato may be correct, when you factor in vote fraud. He himself won a college election that way, narrowly "beating" a hamster. (This is true.)

Posted by: George LeS at November 05, 2012 11:49 AM (C4s3i)

294 Ignore the MSM today. If its meant to deter us, let it make us more determined.

On the other hand, it might give the remaining Obama voters, who are the less committed ones, false confidence / an excuse so they don't bother to vote.

Romney should win Virginia, Florida, Colorado, and Ohio. (Ohio only went to Obama in 2008 by 4 or 5. ). Nevada will go to Obama solely due to fraud. Romney probably also wins Wisconsin and New Hampshire.
